Chris is an incredibly experienced, enthusiastic and engaging piano teacher who makes lessons fun and exciting. He finds unique ways to help you easily understand concepts that could otherwise seem intimidating, and gives you the tools and space to learn what you want at your own pace. Chris is undoubtedly a fantastic teacher. As a relatively new adult learner I initially found Chris's teaching technique a little different as I was used to a much more rigid way of learning. However, I have come to see and realise that my lessons with Chris are helping me on so many levels and as a result my piano playing has improved massively within the year that I have been having lessons with him. It is clear that Chris really understands the needs of his pupils, allowing them to grow and blossom more freely. For me the benefits have been tenfold compared with more conventional teaching methods.

Chris has to be the best piano teacher by far. Not only is he a born musician he is passionate about all kinds of music! He is also aware of what it takes to bring out the best in your musical ability whether you are a complete beginner and petrified of touching a piano or like me, for instance, I have been playing piano “by ear” since a child and have always been frustrated when I hear beautiful music beyond my skills being played on the piano. I had previously learnt up to grade 4 in a previous life but became bored with the grades stuff and wanted something more “explosive” I suppose, to happen to my piano playing. This is where Chris comes in for me, he knows where you are coming from when it comes to what you want to play and at what level you are and he teaches you in the best possible way. He has his own technique of introducing you to the piano in a way that opens up your piano sounds fast and he makes it fun and its ok to make mistakes. He knows his stuff and his instructions are always non-threatening, he has patience and he enjoys teaching, also there is a message underlying his fab techniques that will consolidate everything that he teaches you which he builds on in every lesson. Super guy, super musician, and for me the best teacher I will ever have! Thanks Chris.

I've started my classes with Chris as a beginner with no prior musical skills whatsoever. Chris helped me not only to build up those skills but also to find confidence and joy in front of the piano. We worked both on classics, to improve technique, and modern stuff, to increase engagement. What's important to note, is that from the very begining Chris tries to adress your expectations and teaches accordingly to them, and your personal capabilities and preferences. Definitely a +++.

Chris is brilliant. I started lessons at age 40 as something I've always wanted to do. I was nervous about learning but Chris is very approachable and extremely patient. I didnt want to go the conventional way of Grades and he was happy to teach me any way I wanted to go. Seriously if you are thinking of learning piano I can think of no better way to learn than to give this man a call and get started. Do it now!

3 years ago I went into the MusicRoom in Brighton and asked for a piano teacher who would take on an adult beginner who wanted to learn to be able to play jazz on the piano - and got Chris Harvey's number. I praise that day!
