Rubens is an amazingly professional and attentive teacher! The way he teaches allows you to understand the structure of Portuguese very clearly, as well as to build and increase vocabulary. Rubens also shows an amazing flexibility and always adjusts classes to his students’ needs. Highly recommend!

Brazilian Portuguese with Rubens is absolutely brilliant. He's a great teacher and his lessons are well structured for beginners. The classes are supplemented with well thought out material that really helps progression at a good steady pace. He's also incredibly friendly and patient, and is more than willing to go through previous topics / questions to ensure a thorough understanding, as well as explaining nuances within the language. Conversation lessons are also really enjoyable and full of funny jokes! Learning Portuguese with Rubens feels less like studying and more like fun all the while progressing with great speed! I'm really pleased with how much I've learned over such a short period. Thank you Rubens!

I cannot recommend Rubens highly enough... save yourself the trouble of looking any further and just pick him! He is a great guy, very relaxed and friendly, and brings a structure to classes that ensure you keep progressing with every lesson. I am doing 2 classes per week and it is amazing how much far I have taken my conversational Portuguese in only a few months. He is familiar with both Brazilian and European Portuguese, as well as the different accents and phrases used in each, so is very flexible to whatever your needs are. He is great fun to learn from as well... the classes always seem to fly by. Thanks Rubens! :)

Sem dúvida, Rubens é um excelente professor! I have been studying Brazilian Portuguese with Rubens weekly now for 9 months, and I am astounded at how much progress I have made. As somebody who scraped a pass at GCSE French, I never considered I had any such aptitude for languages, but with Rubens’s patient, methodical, and engaging teaching style I have made enormous progress, to where I am able to converse with relatives in Brazil quite comfortably. I came as an absolute beginner with zero knowledge of Portuguese (aside from olá and obrigado!), and in 9 months I am comfortable with (although yet to fully master without errors) all variations of the past, present and future tense (of which there are many in Portuguese!). Moreover, Rubens’s centrally located office in the heart of London has been super easy to reach after work hours, always with perfect punctuality for lesson start and end times, which Rubens is generously flexible with. I have recently moved abroad, but am still continuing my weekly classes with Rubens over Skype, as I find our conversational practice so helpful and fun. Rubens is also such a warm and lovely guy to talk with, and I find myself looking forward to our lessons every week. Thank you so much, Rubens - you have been a fantastic teacher! I cannot recommend you enough :-)

I've had a number of language teachers over the past 20 years in 3 different languages. Today, one year ago, I started learning Portuguese with Rubens, and I can say that he's by far the best language teacher I've had over the years. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. I had lessons with Rubens for two months before I moved to Brazil and I had never heard the language before I started. When I arrived people literally could not believe I had been learning for two months. He has produced his own curriculum which just makes you remember- I never once sat down and memorised words...his technique does it for you! He is also a great guy and so now a very good friend : )
