Helen is the perfect coach through the private lessons. There are wide range of horses available for different level of riders. I really like to be in touch with horses and improve my equestrian skills. After 5 months of practice weekly, I can now cantering without using stirrups.

I've been riding here for over 10 years and I keep coming back (even though I now live 70 miles away) because of the quality and variety of the horses, the brilliant instructors and the hugely knowledgeable and lovely owner. The horses thankfully, dont follow the bottom in front; instead, I've learnt they all have their differences and to ride accordingly. I've introduced both my mum and my niece who both love it here too. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

After some years away from riding, contacted Helen after Christmas and have been enjoying a weekly lesson since. A thoroughly professional and friendly stables. Helen is the nicest, kindest teacher and great at teaching with a good understanding of horses, and really encourages you to come back again and again. This is definitely the highlight. The lessons are fun and have cool exercises and nice horses. One of the few barns that adapts to your level and doesn’t give you an automatic / lazy horse, with massification in lessons. They offer cross country in the summer and livery too.

AMAZING !!!!! As a person aged 60 who was very anxious around horses and took up riding not long before lock down, I was very dubios about giving it another go! Booked a lesson with Helen and she made me feel really relaxed. She has a lovely manner extremely professional and clearly loved her job and her horses. Horses are extreemely well cared for and a very tidy and well run stables and yard. Totally Covid compliant. I was so impressed I went back again the following day. Unfortunately I live in Bristol but will be booking in again when I return to Nottingham Thank you Helen so much for a fantastic lesson, your enthusiasm and encouragemnt. Learnt so much - cant wait to come back! Felt so much more confident .

We had such a good experience at Bassingfeild, took my daughter just before her 5th birthday, the team there was so lovely, could not have made us feel more at ease as we had never been around horses before. The horses themselves were great, so calm and professional. We got to do so much in the first lesson , and Helen really knows her horses like the back of her hand! Bassingfield Riding School is a wonderful family run stables. It has a fantastic family feel with genuine people who love and care for their animals very much. Helen and David work very hard. Their horses are cared for with love and devotion. They have horses and ponies to suit all abilities and ages. Everyone makes you feel very welcome. Both myself and daughter have lessons here. Helen and David have helped me gain back my confidence and teach my daughter to ride. I would highly recommend this stables.

Great stables and brilliant tuition. My 7 year old has been riding here since April '15. They are very kind and the teaching standard is really high plus theres always time at the end to help put ponies away and give them treats. I can't fault the stables, the ponies seem really well cared for and I find the staff very friendly. Whilst previous reviewers have said they are rude. I've never found that to be the case. The older lady in charge can be a little bit abrupt, but she definitely means well and I have found her very kind & friendly. I think it's important to point out she is really quite old.

I've been to a number of riding schools in the US and the UK. I'm a beginner, middle-aged guy. The one recent one to the east of Nottingham taught me such incorrect techniques, I found them at odds with what the US taught me, where I'd learnt some Western. But then I found Helen, she helped iron out those 'wrongs' and I progressed rapidly in areas I'd been wanting to perfect for almost a year - the trot, balance etc She's so understanding of me and wanted to know about my history, life and is always curious about what I want to achieve. I've never found a teacher that's so encouraging, caring and helps me move on with confidence. Thank you so much Helen. I'm back off to the US to apply it all now!

Bassingfield is an excellent quality Riding school. If you read no further then that is essentially the salient point. I was lucky enough to have had the privilege of growing up around horses and the horse world which set me in excellent stead for my future career. It was twenty years ago when I first discovered this gem of a school, with its calm and beautiful surroundings, you could be mistaken for thinking you were deep in the countryside rather than on the outskirts of Nottingham. Margaret, was the matriarch and installed a ‘can do’ and ‘no nonsense’ attitude in everyone she welcomed in to the school. I was delighted to find that it was still alive and kicking, as is she at 84 (I’m sure she won’t mind me saying) and even applying the highest safety recommendations and safeguards to keep the horses, staff and visitors protected. The horses and ponies are all healthy and happy with a good natured work ethic, much like their owners. My daughter has been casually riding for five years or so and has learnt so much technical skill and correct handling and horsemanship as well as gaining in confidence under the knowledgable and kind expertise of the wonderful Helen, Margarets daughter, in the two weeks we have been at Bassingfield. I can’t recommend the school highly enough and look forward to my daughter being able to be a part of the horse world which is really a solid, reliable, kind and caring sort in my experience.

Love this place! All the staff are so friendly, the level of tuition is ace. Zoe is outstanding. The horses are very well cared for, can't recommend enough!

I have to say my 7 year old has been going for a couple of months and she couldn't love it more. The staff are lovely and the lady in charge Shirley has been nothing but nice. Could not recommend it highly enough.
