Joining this club was the best desicion I have made for years. In fact I wish I had joined ten or twenty years ago. If you are nervous or unsure about joining then do not worry. I was late thirties very unfit and overweight before joining and had not taken part in any martial arts. The club is so welcoming and friendly to new members. I really feel part of a community. I have been helped and encouraged at every step of the way. The teaching and range of lessons available is world class. If you fancy a new challenge and a new way to get fit and learn the art of karate then give it a go.

I have been a member of this club along with my boys for the last 9 years. Over that time my fitness has improved, and it has helped with my weight loss, my boys confidence and focus has improved hugely, all the instructors are amazing, they are very professional, friendly and driven in making sure you get to be the best you can be. You are made to feel like you are part of the family, no matter your age or ability there is something here for everyone.

Been a part of this club since I was 12. (I’m now almost 20!) they’ve helped me massively with my confidence, flexibility, fitness and trained me to get to black belt. I had the confidence to compete and win medals, which is something I never saw myself doing when I first started. I was shy and so under-confident. The people are so supportive and always want the best for you. There’s a real sense of family, friendship and nurture as well as training and dedication to helping each other reach our best potential in Karate. I have been with the club for only a matter of weeks, the Sensei was brilliant and very welcoming on my first visit and everybody in my class made me feel welcome. I even had some help from a young girl (i attended a family class first as i thought this would ease me. It turns out that the adults are just as welcoming. I initially joined as part of trying to keep fit and lose weight, but feel that i have really found something that i would love to continue doing for a very long time!

An awesome club, with fantastic instructors. Ideal for children, family's and adults alike, with classes geared towards all 3. The instructors are patient and encouraging and will help you on every step of your karate development. Classes are held all over Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. There is a class near you. Give it a try, you will love it.

We have been part of the club for over 3 yrs now, it's really friendly and yet focussed. The instruction is second to none with a huge range of classes and venues to attend. Training with the club my fitness has improved greatly, which has stopped me having back pain through building muscle where there wasn't any. Doryoku ryu karate - Returning to karate after a break of 39yrs was daunting to say the least. It all started with a ring on the doorbell on a wet Black Friday evening, My wife answered & i was asked if i was interested in attending Karate Lessons at the School 200 yards down the road. I asked the gent to call back for a chat & signed up there & then. I had previously trained at the old Mayflower Centre Plymouth back in the late 70's, Bujinkia with Shihan John Smith. My first night i was so nervous , but Sensei Jack & all the Students made me feel at ease & patient with a 63 year old feeling a little out of place. So to sum it up, when my twin brother & i were young we were very quiet & shy, Karate changed us, making us more confident & outgoing, great for the young & never to old to learn.
