N. S.Within the last 3 months I have completed 2 RYA certified courses with Plymouth Sailing School. First I did the 5 day Practical Competent Crew Course. I found the course to be highly educational and a lot of fun. The instructor was highly qualified, had many year sailing experience from all over the world and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of sailing. The yacht Cherry B was well equipped and fun to sail. We sailed in the waters close to Plymouth including Salcombe and the River Yealm.
After completing the Competent Crew course I did the 5 day RYA Day Skipper Shore based course. I had a different tutor/instructor for this course but once again I found him to be incredibly knowledgeable having sailed for many years all over the world and also being RYA certified to a very high level. The shore based day skipper course is delivered in a classroom at Plymouth Yacht Haven. I was provided with all the materials I needed to do chart work. Although the course was quite a fast pace I found that the tutor was more than happy to pause and explain things if needed.
I would highly recommend Plymouth Sailing School to anyone looking at doing any of the RYA certified courses. The staff are highly qualified, have years of experience and are happy to answer your questions as they arise.
