I have just completed and passed my DAS course for A licence with Lightning. All I can say is thank you. I started at Reading and then took my test in Oxford so booked my mod 2 at Oxford to get to know the roads. The instructors are all so helpful. Especially a thank you to Andy from Reading, he was very supportive and treated me like one of his mates instead of just a student which I really appreciated, all the instructors did for that matter! Thank you also to Keith (you’ll never be as good as Keith), Gordon and the other instructors from Oxford as well. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend going with Lightning, all instructors make it a very good environment and help you learn from your mistakes (god knows I made lots of mistakes to get here). I will stop by when I get my bike sorted, thanks again!

I recently completed my journey to DAS Full motorcycle license with Lightning motorcycle training (Reading). I did my CBT, Mod1 training/test and Mod 2 Training/test successfully. I came across different instructors for this while and I must say all of them are great instructors. They know what they are doing and Very friendly. The admin team had been great in terms of making bookings and making changes as and when I needed. I had no issues whatsoever and would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to get their motorbike license. Only on one occasion the bike wasn't great but Next time I didn't see that bike around with anyone. Considering that the bike would be near its retirement. The bikes were in great condition and Loved the experience.

I signed up for intermediate version of DAS with Lightning Motorcycle Training in Reading in May 2022 and passed my Mod 2 in June 2022. From the start (CBT) to the end (Mod 2) they were very professional and created a good atmosphere for learning to ride. The instructors are very knowledgeable and eager to help as well as providing excellent constructive feedback when they are assessing you. They will go over the student record card with you and this will also help you to reflect over the things that are good as well as the things that you can do better. The "back office" is also very helpful and are always willing to shuffle your appointments around for you (if there is availability for it) Overall I'm very pleased with the service that was provided, and I want to give a special shoutout and thanks to Kevin, Chris, Nick and Keith for taking me through the DAS, it was enjoyable from start to finish!

I had not ridden a bike for a lot of year so needed help as i wanted to take my full bike test. Excellent training from all three of my instructors, for CBT (Andy), MOD 1 (practice Nick then Keith) and MOD2 (Keith) all were firm but fair as they want everyone to be safe on the road. I was encouraged to practice before my MOD 1 for a week as i was told i was 99% there but needed a little extra control. I passed all tests first time, great bunch of guys, i would recommend to everyone.

An honest review Whoooo whoooo whoooo I passed first time - Thanks lightning Good points Had two great instructors out of 5 (Kevin and Paul) Always on time and ready Instructors were straight to the point which works for me. Pricing was the cheapest around Bad points 5 lessons including my two tests, 5 different instructors, 5 different ways of doing things. Very confusing! Reading facilities are run down The bike I was riding was a bit knackerd but that’s to be expected I suppose. One instructor was awful, didn’t engage in conversation and didn’t make me feel comfortable or welcome. My bad points aren’t a criticism but more to raise awareness of how to improve the company.

Great service, and value for money. Professional and dedicated instructors. I did with them my DAS. I live in central London and I did most of my courses at their Reading centre, which is only a quick 25 min. train ride for London.

Little bit more expensive that other places but in my view it's worth every penny. Excellent training and really good set up. I switched groups while in the course so 2 different instructors and both were very informative and patient. They take the time to give feedback individually after each manoeuvre so you know what to work on and how. Their main goal quite rightly is safety and ensuring you are ready to be on the road and there is no pressure, you take things at your pace. I did my first CBT with another company and had a bad experience of the instructor being quite agressive in how he taught and frustrated if you didn't pick it up at the speed expected. I was never going to pass my CBT in 1 day, I needed longer but the guys at Lightning Motorcycle Training don't criticise, they teach and manage very well having different ability levels in the class. Big thank you, I enjoyed my day and will be back at some point to do my full license.

Completed my DAS with Lighting this week and can't praise them enough. Brilliant days out on the road with instructors Kevin, Simon and Chris who all made each day enjoyable and test days relaxed. And a big thanks too to the office staff who arranged everything smoothly. Did my CBT last Saturday. As novice to the motorbike environment I was expecting to find myself to be an heavyweight for the instructors and to have troubles getting trough it. Thankfully I decided to go the guys down in Reading where a day that could have been very stressful turned out to be a nice and pleasant day out thanks to Rob, the good looking fella that is going to teach you the 101 of motorcycling, a man of patience and knowledge that will guide you trough all the step to ride a motorcycle safely. Booked my CBT with these guys online super easy to do very well designed website. Turned up easy place to find. The site was basic but they had all the facility's and kit needed and the loan bikes were all in good condition and relatively new. We were run through our CBT by Kyle. Was obvious that Kyle was an experienced rider who knew his stuff and was a great teacher. Kyle ran through each aspect of the CBT at a good pace clearly explaining everything giving helpful demonstrations, feedback and tips on how to remember things. The whole day was fun and enjoyable by our instructor as well as informative. Would highly recommend to any one looking at getting any part of a bike licence to check these guys out I know I will be returning for my next part of my licence. Update- thanks to lighting I have now completed my Das course and am fully licenced. As reflected in my previous about my CBT they are an amazing center and I would reccomend them at the highest level. I completed my Mod 1 traning and they were super helpful. Gave tones of advice and picked up on things to improve I would have never thought of. This allowed me to fly through my Mod 1 test and pass with flying colours. Sadly I missed the mod 2 traning due to personal reasons but someone who was on the course with me said they were really helpful. When it came to the big day the instructor was really helpful on the ride to the center. I feel like he cramed the whole mod 2 training in to an hours ride giving me tones of advice and tips. I was worried about the test as I had missed the traning but it was all for nothing as I passed with only a few minor faults. Anyone thinking about bikes wether you are a completley new or have some riding under your belt. Lightening will take what you have and build on it to help you pass what ever course you book on to.

i have just completed the DAS course and obtained my Full bike licence. From a raw novice the team at Lightning in Reading have done a sterling job. Each day i had a different instructor which in hindsight i think is so beneficial since all the instructors have probably had their own style of teaching. so thanks to Omid, Kevin, Nick, Keith and Chris along with Gordon in Oxford and the very helpful Alice and Becky in the office. The administration were incredibly helpful and understanding with the bookings that I wanted to make and made every effort to accommodate my needs. The training was incredibly professional - perfectly planned out, carefully and patiently explained always giving time for questions and ensuring that the students understood. We all received a good amount of 1 to 1 attention and time to practise the basic skills. I was quite nervous going out on the road but Chris' calm and measured nature meant that the whole process was actually very smooth. I cannot recommend Lightning enough. A great company.

I highly recommend Lightning Motorcycle in Reading to everyone. My instructor Paul was professional, friendly and fun with great knowledge, experience and very good teaching skills. I was quite nervous but Paul was extremely patient and gave me good advice wherever it was necessary. All Reading staff were really nice and helpful. Highly recommend for all bike training! I did my full DAS course (minus CBT which I wish I had done with Lightning too) and the experience was great! I had very little experience on a geared bike, having only been on a moped before when I was younger, however I managed to get through my Mod 1 and Mod 2 first time! Even with the unfortunate 3 month lock down and cancellations of Mod 2 tests, there was a big gap in my training, but I was still brought right up to speed. All the instructors were very friendly, patient, and willing to answer any and all questions you could give them, very genuine guys who just want more people to get into bikes. The support from everyone at the office was great too, as my Mod 2 was cancelled due to lock down, they sorted out a new test for me as soon as one was available, and as I had paid for the full course in advance, no extra payments needed to be made, everything was done completely hassle free. Once again, if you have been considering doing your full licence, or even just a CBT, get yourself booked in with Lightning, and I'm sure that you will have a very enjoyable time learning in the process. Many thanks to all staff at lightning for helping me get my licence!

Having only completed a CBT before going to Lightning i classed myself as having VERY little experience but managed to get my full license within 4 weeks. Every instructor i had taught me many great tips for various parts of riding which will put me in great shape for going alone and i couldn't be more grateful to all of them. I would like to single out Errol and Chris who were with me on MY Mod1 and Mod2 tests in particularly providing great advice and enabling me to calm my nerves and pass my tests. If you want to have someone be honest with you and help you pass, look no further. I did my first CBT with them in 2015 and passed nicely on a 50cc. Came back in 2020 to do my CBT again and while I took time to get to grips with the gears Carl was super helpful to me and got me through. Come the end of the year I carried onto my A2 and while all my instructors were a bit strict with me (Knowing I work inside the industry) were always straight up with me and did nothing but help me through and got me passed on my licence. My friends while not all passed still all speak of them in high regard when they all did CBT's and some their A2's too.

Having completed my CBT with Lightning in April, I thought it was about time to get my full licence done and lose the L plates. I went for a free evaluation session to see how many days training I would need to pass the tests. I met Keith who after seeing me ride around the car park for a while, recommended that I do the 3 day course. So that's what I went for. Fast forward a couple of weeks to a rainy Monday and I started my Mod 1 training with Chris; one of the most laid back, patient people I've come across. Had my Mod 1 test the next day and passed it without issue. So big thanks to Chris for that! My Mod 2 training was mainly with Kevin. Again, top bloke who put me right at ease and we had a really fun day out riding in and around Oxford, getting used to the test area. On the morning of my Mod 2, I was a bit of a nervous wreck. I rode up to Oxford with Keith who gave me some helpful tips before the test and did a great job at settling the nerves and making me feel more confident. I passed the Mod 2 - one of the best feelings!! Couldn't have done it without all the guys at Lightning so a massive shoutout to everyone there - absolute heroes!

I went yesterday for my very first attempt at riding a motorbike with Lightening motorcycle training and came away feeling so pleased at my achievement given that I am starting rather late in life at 61yrs. Nick my instructor was delightful explaining everything very clearly, and settling any nerves that I had ,as well as giving me the confidence needed. I learned a lot in the time available as well as enjoying the experience. Looking forward to booking some further tuition in the future. I passed my CBT on the second attempt the other day. I found the experience okay, but i felt the instructor a little impatient with myself. I felt that some of the instructions given to me were rather vague when riding on the road section. I especially felt that as i was nervous (and other people who might be nervous), to try follow unclear, non specfic instructions and then be told i was wasting time was frustrating. Even though i walked away having had passed, i felt frustrated and unsure if i should even continue trying to ride a bike. Having looked at other reviews, i wish i had one of the other instructors as they seem to be alot more patient. Even seeing the way they interacted with riders on their mod 1 course and in the yard made me feel it might just be this specific instructor who was a little more impatient than others. I appreciate there are time constraints when trying to get 3 students to pass at the same time, but a little more patience and speaking to someone a little more politely would create a more positive experience.

Couldn't recommend Lighting enough. I did my first CBT with them a few years ago, which was a really good introduction and I've just passed my A2 restricted license first time after a few days training. The bikes are mostly new and well looked after, the '13 plate Honda CBF500's especially were great to learn on. Jason was my instructor for most of my training (I also had Steve for a few hours) and I couldn't fault them, both patient but also pushed me to progress when needed. I actually really enjoyed my training, so thanks all at Lightning - can't wait to get on the road.

Hi, Yet again I can not recommend these guys and gals enough. My son R### did his CBT on a geared 125 today, and was struggling with the clutch control. Lightning bought another instructor in to give him 1:1 tuition, to help him pass. That's two sons, 1 at A2, and one on the way. My 17yr old said they could not have been more helpful. Thank you the Lightning staff. I am already putting your name around after coaching Orr## to pass his A2, and will use you for R###. THANKS.

I attempted a CBT from zero riding experience with Piotr and was not able to progress onto element E (on the road training). My failings were slow controlled use of my 125cc bike, which then made a number of other maneuvers difficult (namely figure of 8 and U turn), as well as emergency stop. Although later in my day session I was able to carry out the OSMPSL task, which did involve slow control, there was insufficient time to allow me to retrospectively correct previous mistakes. I booked 2 hours tuition and can happily say all my issues were very rapidly fixed! My private instructor was Paul and within 10 minutes he was able to diagnose my problem areas and provide sound advice. With these tips, I was able to correct my slow speed control emergency stop very quickly, so thanks Paul! I shall be booking in my CBT ASAP, would highly recommend Lightning to anyone wanting to get a CBT, with the caveat that they should strongly consider taking up their offer of a free introductory lesson.

A fantastic service and well worth doing, even if you have ridden a lot in another country. Did the 4 day direct access course and loved every minute. Rob was a stand out instructor with great tips and knowledge on how to dispense with those bad habits before the test. Good sense of humour to boot. Riding a scooter for 15 years on CBTs and it is only the last two that I have used Lightning for but they keep good records and prompt you to action around one time a year, which is very helpful. I did one CBT in Oxford and one in Reading and both times the trainers were thorough. This year I have just trained with them to get my full motorcycle licence and I started my days in Reading and rode to Oxford and completed by Mod 1 and Mod 2 in Oxford. I had three different trainers - Chris, Keith and Kev - and they said 95% the same things in a complementary way. The trainers tend to talk out loud a lot to you and to other people being trained and listening means that you learn a lot. On the road the training was very thorough. I managed to make a lot of mistakes and learned from them. Doing the Mod 2 was really enjoyable as well as being successful. Friendly and helpful people. Highly recommended.

Not only are they fair with their pricing, they are very friendly, very good instructors and will focus all of their time into making you the best rider you can be. As someone who had been riding a 125 for 2 years, they managed to get rid of all of my bad habbits and replace them with many beneficial ones instead helping me to pass my mod 1 and mod 2 tests on the first try. I always like to ask questions to get things stuck in my head, and these guys are only too happy to answer them for you. Fun training leaving you with a smile. I’ve read a few negative reviews of Lightning centre including ‘frightening lightning’ and all this about the course being rushed but it’s not at all a reflection of the service I received. The Instructer I had (Paul) was calm collect and very encouraging. He made us two students very confident in the car park before taking us on the road (we were CBT’ers) Absolutely cracking instructor. I’m sure they all are. The course itself was very smooth we didn’t have to wait at all during our time there, I never felt like I was wasting any time. 100% worth the money I’ll be returning to lightning. Thankyou Paul!

Instructors are very friendly, and genuinely looking out for your safety - When I didn't quite pass the first time they very kindly booked me in for an extra hour or two and didn't make me pay for a whole other day. Never thought at 46 id be training to take a full A licence having never even ridden a moped. With fabulous instruction I did a four and three day intensive training course. It went like clock work and I couldn't have asked for more. A truly exhilarating experience. Thank you for everything and a special should out to Gary, Keith, Kevin and Eryl who kept be going in the cold and the rain with their humour and safe training.

Lightning got me though my Mod 1 and 2 tests. The staff are professional, encouraging and spot on with their feedback. The Oxford site has a massive training area - and you can even make yourself a hot drink on site. Thank you so much for helping me get my full motorcycle licence! I recommend them highly.

They've got some good trainers but the office staff could do with a customer service course. I had 2 tests cancelled on the day and never received any compensation or even a real sorry to be honest. They are all laughing and jokes whilst you're making payments but if any problems arise from there side, you'll get nothing. Some trainers are ok but the customer service is appalling

Thank you guys for all your help, taking my DAS has been a journey, help was needed from the whole team for me to re-train my brain to the 21th century way of riding a bike. Kev was supportive until the last minute with my Mod1, Kith helped me to man up to the challenge and remind me that mistakes are unforgiving on a bike, and finally, Simon, who give me in just two hours the confidence to confront my Mod 2 successfully. Excellent time learning and passing my big bike tests with Lightning earlier this year, the trainers certainly adopt a tough love approach which can be hard to hear after a long day of riding, however the lessons learnt are worth their weight in gold as you climb onto your own big bike and face the jungle of heatseeking missiles we call UK roads

Passed my DAS with the 4 day training course as suggested in lightning's website. They know exactly what they are doing. All you need to do is to listen and get trained. Very good instructors and good training... Passed my module 2 test with just one minor first time. Highly recommend them.. Thanks guys..

Just did my CBT with Lightning. wasn't the most pleasant of experiences, but that was due to the fact it was raining heavily basicly the whole day. I found the instructors to be friendly, very informative and they made sure everyone completely understood what they were being taught. I have seen other reviews of people complaining about smelly gloves ect. And I have to say that yes the gloves were, well let's say, well used but hey If ya don't want to use sweaty gloves then you can always bring ya own lol I Have to say thanks to Nick for taking the extra time after a long day in the rain to take me back out on the road after I got left behind and lost, which was through fault from both traffic and misunderstanding. I found the instructors to be very patient and understanding, when it came to making mistakes your calmly told to pull over in the safest location then after a quick chat and reminder of what was being done wrong, your back on the road with the instructor guiding you through what you should and shouldn't be doing. it was a long wet day, I got lost and went swimming in an enormouse puddle but I came out of it alive, with a CBT certificate and feeling confident that I can safely continue to learn by myself. Would definitely recommend lighting for people wishing to do there CBT. Thanks guys D

Found the training fine. When going out on the road, I found that I was confident but failed first time which is understandable as I did do a lot of errors. But I was told that I was on the verge of passing but not quite there because of where I positioned myself on the last two roundabouts but everything else was fine. So I retook my training for the second time and passed. However, I was picked up loads of other things which I would have done on my first try and was still hesitant on me getting my CBT

Did my original CBT with them, and then my Direct Access course. What can I say, Lee (my instructor) was brilliant throughout the DAS. He corrected most of my bad habits in a way that was understandable, and was always patient with me. My primary aim was to become a better rider, not just pass the test, and I think this is where the difference really shone. I feel much more confident on the road, and have a good basis for becoming a good rider. Top stuff, definitely deserving of 5 stars.

Did my CBT here and couldn’t recommend them enough, I was taught by Colin who was brilliant but all the guys there were on hand to help if needed. If you need a CBT or any type of training this is the place to go, I will be doing my full licence here as soon as I can.

I completed all my training and tests with lightning from CBT up to a full licence spread over a couple of years. All the staff and instructors were very helpful and friendly and experienced whenever I went. I would recommend lightning highly. 👍

Well organised professional instruction. Personally I preferred the older looking Honda 650 to ride compared to their newer Hondas with digital dials. Big thanks to Keith, Colin and Gary who got me through Mod1 and Mod2. I would advise planning a gap between Mod1 and Mod2 as it's very easy to clip a cone and then loose your Mod2 test slot.
