Both my boys attended St Edwards for their primary education before going on to state secondary school. Both loved their time there and really flourished.

My son has been at St Edwards since reception and is such a happy, curious and engaged boy. My daughter has just started in their Little Griffin (pre-reception) class and is now already enjoying "reading" and telling us about all of her new adventures with her new friends.

We were lucky enough to have found St Edward's online. My daughter is 3 years old and we discovered that this previous "boys school" now accepts girls!!!
The preschool element of St Edward's is called "Little Griffins" and we are incredibly happy that our daughter is enrolled.
The nursery itself is incredibly well equipped and the levels of interaction from staff to student is impressive.
One of the things that has stood out to us as parents is the schools eagerness to keep us informed of the child's day to day involvement in the wide range of activities and their developments through numerous photo captions and observation analysis, during the school day, from the teachers, on an encrypted database called "Tapestry" (easy to use and log in)
To supplement this each child is subject to what the school calls a "Focus Week" where parents are encouraged to contribute any of their own pictures and observations of their children to help the teachers better understand the child's developmental needs and their characters. The teacher then liases with the parents on a one to one Microsoft Teams format to then update and discuss your child and where they are at in their stages of development and what they have been doing during the school day.
Really impressive and engaging stuff.
One thing we did note: our daughter was very apprehensive one morning amongst the tears at the school gate the Teacher; Helen Cromore, reassured and cuddled her to which de escelated the emotional situation and our little girl went into nursery and has never looked back since.
Very friendly, attentive and professional staff. School very well equipped and many activities and feild trips.
We love this place and reccomend to any parent lucky enough to get in... especially girls!!!

My son started at St Edward's after six years at another local independent school and from the start we have been amazed to see the glaring differences: from the Headmaster’s welcoming handshake at the beginning of the day to every single lesson, club and sports activity, St Edward's scores top marks. The school has achieved the seemingly impossible: to harness the boundless energy of young boys into a well-structured and disciplined teaching process while encouraging them to be active, free – and happy.
Thanks to the books being brought home daily, parents have a clear picture of class work progress, the teachers are always available for a chat, and the school’s web site is informative and easy to navigate. Language teaching, which at the other school was treated as a time-wasting nuisance, is given its proper place here, the French being taught in an inspiring and effective manner, with a further incentive provided by the prospect of a week-long trip to France. Science and Computer Science, too, are taught by enthusiastic professionals in well-equipped dedicated classrooms, something we know is not the case at every school.
After many disappointing years at another school my son now thrives – and it’s not hard to see why: St Edward's is a well-run school with committed friendly staff, the right balance between academic and physical pursuits, and the magic touch of knowing how to help boys grow into accomplished and happy young men.

We moved to the Reading area 4 years ago. My eldest son joined St Edward's at the end of Year 1 and my youngest started in Reception that September. St Edward's is a small school but provides fantastic opportunities in all areas. My eldest son is very sporty and has excelled in all the different sports that the school offers. They get to play sports fixtures against other schools which is a great experience and teaches the boys good sportsmanship and they know they are ambassadors for the school which demands their best behaviour and manners at all times. The school prides itself on having a family-like feel and it does genuinely care for each boy which in turn teaches the boys respect for each other. Both my sons enjoy school and are happy and confident and I feel the school is always trying to get the best out of them. I think St Edward's will prepare them well for secondary school.

I cannot recommend St Edwards Prep School more highly. With 2 very happy boys thriving at this polite, welcoming and incredibly positive school thanks to the wonderful staff and their inspirational and imaginative teaching, including P.E and music, we are so pleased that we chose the school. Of course we looked at other options but in our opinion there is no other prep school in the Reading area which compares.

An exceptional school through and through. The amazing teaching methods and staff transformed my son from a nervous boy into a confident & highly intelligent young man ready to take on any challenge. I cannot recommend this school highly enough. Thank you

An excellent school with great language teaching facilities. Annual trips to France help improve knowledge of French and history, specifically the World Wars.
