Roger has a tremendous wealth of experience and knowledge, about both sailing and teaching, which he brings to running his courses. I thoroughly enjoyed our yachtmasters course, which was both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Roger makes the courses fun at the same time as being able to meet the needs of each individual on the course. I feel confident about, and look forward to putting into practise, the things we have learned. I highly recommend the courses that Jolly Roger offers. Thank you Roger!

My experience with Roger has been a wonderful journey with lots of information beyond day Skipper level and really good practice exercises. No only did I meet a whole group of great people but know I feel
More confident in taking my family out in our sailboat. Overall my conclusion is Roger rocks when it comes to sailing and teaching.

Roger was an excellent teacher on our recent virtual Yachtmaster theory course. Whilst I’ve sailed for years the way he taught retained my interest whilst also informed both new, theoretical sailors and one of the other students looking to get his commercial ticket.
Highly recommend and, once normality returns, intend to meet Roger in person to refresh my VHF knowledge.

I booked a first aid course very last minute with Jolly Roger Sailing. Roger was incredibly helpful and accommodating, particularly around my travel arrangements. The course content was good, there was lots of personal experience which made it "a bit more real".

We did a VHF radio course with Roger. He knew the subject matter well and helped us learn the practical bits across the course of the day. Both myself and my husband passed our exam and we are very happy with the course and Roger's instruction.

Roger is a passionate and patient teacher. I had no doubt at any moment that the final pass of the Yachtmaster Offshore Theory course is achievable. Doing this with a small group of friendly folks it was never a problem to agree lectures and exams times to suit everyone. Roger was always at hand to help us individually when needed. I can wholeheartedly recommend this course with Jolly Roger Sailing.

Had a really informative and enjoyable VHF course with Roger. He organised the examiner at the end of the day where the information he taught me throughout the day came good with a successful PASS - thanks Roger

We had an amazing week learning loads with Roger to complete our Day Skipper Theory. Roger is extremely knowledgeable and very approachable.
Really looking forward to putting everything we learnt into practice. We'll be booking other courses with Roger in the near future.
Thank you Roger!!

I was sceptical about doing the yachtmaster course online at first as I didn’t want to study via distance learning, but Roger explained that the course was taught via video link. Roger has managed to find inovative ways to still be able to deliver the content as he would face to face, such as sharing the screen of a digital plotter. I have found it more challenging doing it this way at times, but Roger has been patient and found solutions to the barriers.
Roger’s course was excellent value for money, his teaching to a high standard, and I would definitely recommend.

I took part in a Yachtmaster theory course with Roger as I wanted to make sure I understood as much as I could, to enjoy fun but safe sailing trips with my family. So glad I did! Gets me a bit nervous now thinking about being on the water before doing the course. Recommended to all to train with Roger.

Passed my SRC exam under Roger’s excellent tutoring and oversight. A very friendly, calm, patient, knowledgeable and positive guy. Certainly to be recommended.

Day Skipper theory via WebEx.
Small classes ... with extra individual time if required... timing sessions, wherever possible, to suit all the participants.
Virtual classroom easier to manage than anticipated once everyone gets the hang of it ( using mute/unmute and not talking over each other) .
Roger is inclusive and appreciates that not everyone learns at the same speed and all have differing sailing backgrounds and different reasons for doing the course....he tries his best to adapt the course around everyone’s needs. He is a patient teacher and explains things clearly. I fully recommend this course!
