Reviews of The Last Bookshop
A. K.
I did not spend too much time in this place because at this point in time, I need to be prudent about money. I only purchased one book.
The young man behind the till was really nice. He asked me about the Jodi Picoult book that I was purchasing. He then put a qustion to me about her other books and I just drew a blank. I am an extremely shy person and I struggled to think of an answer.
One of the books that I liked which she wrote was "Handle with Care." I hope he is able to see this review, in case it is something that he wants to read.
She also wrote, "House Rules." It is about a mother who has two children and one of them is described as having Asperger's Syndrome. Some people have criticised this book heavily, while others find that it is an accurate portrayal in certain instances, of how the mother feels. Obviously, if people choose to read the book, they can decide for themselves. I just appreciated the effort the person behind the counter made to speak about the books people purchased.

A wonderful bookstore with a wide variety of items available and with a lot of interesting offers and bargains. Books are in mint conditions too, despite sometimes being sold at ridiculously low prices. A must for any book lover passing through or staying in Bristol!
b.
Fantastic store with amazing prices. They always have a great selection of books for sale. Highly recommend, one of my favourite places in the city.
C. S.
really bargains for book lovers. Love the vintage ones
J. T.
Wonderful selection of quality books covering a wide range of topics all at the unbelievable price of £4. If you're a book lover or looking for a gift for one you won't be disappointed.
M. M.
This bookshop has greatly increased the breadth of its selection. Nowadays I don't buy books till I've checked that I can't get them out of the library, but I do value having this shop, and in a place I often walk past.
E. V.
It is an amazing place to get the best books. Worthy to note the excellent support given by the shop assistants to the customers.
E. C.
Although the £3 books make the store incredibly affordable (which it is for new books), the format just doesn't seem to work. As others have mentioned, the books aren't worth the same amount, and so shouldn't be sold for the same amount. And the stock that has been chosen is clearly limited and chosen around the £3 sale budget. A tier cost system may work better.
J. T.
Best. Bookshop. Ever. I’ve never been in a bookshop with such a diverse collection, at such an amazing price! It also helps that the staff are very friendly and the shop is in a great location.
V. S.
If you love books you will love this shop, run by very friendly helpful staff.
P. R.
Good range of new discounted hardback and softback books. Most are £4.
T. W.
An interesting selection of books at £4 each.
Science Fiction contains a large number of the Gollanz masterworks.
L. P.
Cheap books all at one price. Small selection but well chosen stock.
D. K.
I have never been happier to walk into a bookshop, seeing that it's so affordable!! The £3 is consistent across art and photography books which usually cost over £20! There was a surprisingly large selection on genres and I will definitely be coming back!!
H. E.
lush little book shop, really enjoyed going here and i loved all of the art and pictures drawn by customers behind the counter on the wall xx
H. H.
Fantastic book shop on park street at great prices. I will buy all my book here from now on
S. K.
Great prices and selection shame they had to make it £4 instead of 3 but its still very reasonable
I. S. A.
So lovely!!! Really good and classical books in such impressive sale, all 2 for £5, just ridiculous! Chesterton, Dostoevsky, Dickens, Brontë, Kafka, the classics as well!!! I wish I had more space to carry the books with me!
J. K.
Good selection, great prices. Nabbed am illustrated Gaiman hardback that usually retailed at £40! The fantasy/sci-fi selection is (understandably) a little limited, but if you go in with an open mind then you're sure to find something worth your while - especially if you like non-fiction or classics.
A. H.
A brilliant bookshop full of really amazing bargains. Every book is just £3.00 and what a selection they've got. I bought 2 large format art books, a faber and faber poetry book, a Penguin modern classic and three smashing children's books all for £21.00! Love it.
A. T.
The first time I have visited this bookshop and I was pretty impressed. All books £3 each, which means some real bargains to be found. Some titles available on a very large Internet bookshop were around 2 to 3 times the price. Only one thing dragged the score down to 4 stars and that is that there were 3 of us in our party and therefore with the current shop rule of only 6 people in the shop at one time it was difficult to shop. We had to go in 2 groups, which meant I didn't feel I had time to look around as much as I wanted since I didn't want to keep the other members of our party waiting. It was also freezing weather today so those not able to get in first were left out in the cold (literally). Not sure the shop could do anything other but given the rule is not a national one at the present, I feel the shop could have had around 50% more in at one time - it is quite big. But better safe than sorry so ignore my slight moan and pay a visit but maybe avoid a rainy or super cold day.
D. H.
Good selection of books at £4
N. D. S. B.
Amazing - NEW and a great variety - got a coffee cookbook🤯🤯👍☕
F. K.
One of the best shops in Bristol! They sell amazing books. I've bought lots of children's books which would be sold at a really expensive price in other book stores but sold for £3 here. I really love it and keep coming back. They sell really nice educational posters for small children too.
P. H.
Sooooo many books, you can browse for hours and lovely staff who don't allow too many people in at once. All books, no matter the shape, size or amount of pages are just £3.
R. E. (.
A great shop where all the books are set to £3. A large variety of books to really sink your teeth into and the atmosphere felt comfy and warm.
M. T.
The shop is really surprising, very unassuming externally but I found 5 non-fiction books of unique interest (not the type found in The Works) - and when you know they will be £3 the concept is very captivating. There are queues outside but it is worth waiting.
E. D.
That is my favourite place of Park Street. It's an amazing bookstore. They have a good variety of books at incredible prices, and you can find a lot of masterpieces and literature of all kinds. If you are around Bristol you must definitely stop there because there aren't many bookstores left like this one.
O. P.
It's such a great place to buy books! They sell books for £3 with a great collection for fiction, music, children, historical and poetry books.
Friendly staff and overall great feeling in store. Highly recommend to check out!
A. S.
It's a good, cheap bookshop. It's a bit of a lottery whether they will have the book that you/want need. That's part of the fun, I guess.
A. F.
Always paying a visit when visiting Bristol, great variety of books with amazing prices!
J. C.
Fab book amazing prices but wish it had some more right leaning books to choose from
G. !.
Good range of books in the backstreets of Bristol (walking up towards the uni, in a way, behind the O2 Academy).
As said it has an excellent range of books for an independent bookshop at £3 each. 2 for a fiver and 4 for a tenner. Well worth a visit.
T. B.
I can't believe this place. A wonderful selection of new books if all genres - £3 each and two for £5. I helped myself to six over two visits in one morning! Very glad to have found it on a visit to Bristol for a wedding.
J. 1.
A great selection of books, with friendly customer service and competitive prices.
G. N.
Good range of books on offer at great prices. Everything from knitting to thrillers and hard science fiction. Also plenty of children's books to choose from. Currently 4 books for £10 - bargain.
L. R.
Great selection of cheap books (only £3 each)
M. C.
Superb bookshop! Every book is £3 or 3 for £5. Brilliant value, lots of books are previous covers etc but of course that doesn't matter as the words inside are the same! Some fantastic finds.
L. F.
Every book is just £3! Great range of fiction and non, kids books and art. Lovely friendly staff.
L. T.
Such a cute place!!!!! At the time, there was a 3 books for £10 deal! There is a great selection of books, classics as well as new ones, all in great condition. Would definitely recommend a visit :)
I. P.
Very very cute little bookshop at the middle of the busy park street. It offers a wide collection of different genres in lecture and it often has great books almost all of them for only £3! Or 2 for £5!
c. h.
I love this place. Excellent book covers & excellent prices make it hard to buy just one or two books. Well organised covid system means you're likely to queue outside for a little, but very much worth it.
N. T.
This is worth finding as the prices are superb and they have a good selection of books. Not a huge selection and so could be a bit hit and miss, but have to give it 5 stars for the atmosphere and the prices.
A. A.
They've got a stock of such amazing titles. Everything goes for £3 no matter if it's bridget jones's diary or dostoevsky's crime and punishment (which i bought the first to actually read and the latter just to say i've read it). The store also adheres to the covid-19 guidelines so no fear!
M. P.
Really great place with good selection of books that also happen to be cheap ;) I always leave with a bag full of books. The staff is very kind and helpful. They have good covid-19 precautions so ypu can feel sfe while shopping
P. L.
I do most of my book buying in charity shops - I know what I'm looking for and it's the thrill of the chase as well as helping the charity. I challenge you to come in here and not find something worth buying. Cicero said if you have a library and a garden you have everything you need and this shop can help your library.
N. Y.
Good book, back last week and there were good books to choose from, my kids like the place
M. B. P. R. d. V.
Absolutely loved this place. Great prices, great staff and beautiful place. I was walking around Bristol with friends when we found it in the city centre. We spent a while there, couldn't decide what to get. So much variety, and the prices couldn't have been better. Definitely gonna come back next time I'm in Bristol, I'm actually planning it.
C. B.
Bit of a random selection, but covers a wide range, books in perfect condition and pretty much everything is £3. Staff are lovely too. Always drop in if I'm in town.
N. O.
Fab bookshop, well stocked with new books big range, mostly at £3!
I. U.
Superb store with great books and journals for ridiculously low prices. Bought 4 fashion books for 10£ only. Found one of them at amazon for over 20 pounds. Really nice store.
A. C.
Amazing book quality and range of options for such a small library. Great prices and service. Well organized, therefore easy to locate any type of book
P. M.
A huge number of modern books in an almost perfect condition, all for only £3.
W. A.
Dont judge a book by it's cover! While this shop may not look brilliant from the outside this is in fact a brilliant book store. I myself find it frustrating when many bookshops charge RRP for years after a particular book has been published and this shop definately puts a smile on my face to see so many books for such cheap prices! Varied and well organised with lovely helpful staff and some great offers here and there.
M. C.
Fast becoming a Park St institution. All books £3. Particularly strong on music, history and biographies.
T. B.
Im in love with the 2nd hand shops. Specially the 2nd hand book shops.
They were very helpful even though they didn't have the book I wanted.
I bought several children books. They have a very large selection for children compared on the habitual.
E. P.
Great range of books and excellent pricing, 4 for £10 or 2 for £5. Relaxed atmosphere. Recommended
j. s.
Super bargains on offer at this shop. No books were more than 3 pounds!!
S. 0.
An eclectic collection of new and old books, at an insanely low price. I always walk away from this place with more books than I intended.
