What a wounderful warm welcome i received from the moment we entered the shop. The owner was very knowledgeable and instantly knew what i needed! Plenty of stock and very nice natural treats for my dog to choose from! Highly recommend a wee visit to this little gem of a shop! Will deffenatly be returning.

Friendly owner who is very knowledgeable of the products he stocks and other options that might be available. Prices are reasonable, products are good quality. Shop space is a bit small so.something to keep in mind if you intend to take a larger dog with you. Shop cat is friendly with dogs but doesn't like to interact with humans.

I LOVE this locally owned pet store. The owner is very friendly, and he has a very cute, active kitty named Tinker running about the shop! I'm new to the area, so he recommended a vet to me as well. He also stocks the best cat litter I've ever used in the UK!

A bit of a hidden gem that I only recently discovered- it is definately a small shop so not the widest selection, but so far has always had what I needed and the staff are the most knowledgable I've found in Edinburgh. The guy there has shared lots of really helpful advice about a couple different issues with my cats. The prices are comparable with other stores around, but since he has saved me at least one trip to the vet I'd say I got a bargin with all my purchases!

Excellent and friendly service. I have never been disappointed and every time I went I found what I needed, whether it is for my hamster or more lately dog. The owner always has good advice and is clearly passionate about animals. Prices are very, very reasonable for a small pet shop and sometimes cheaper than major pet supermarkets. I don't understand how people would be disappointed by the place, unless you don't understand the meaning of local shops or you expect Disneyland.

Capital Pets provides a fantastic service. If they don't have it in stock, they will order it. If you need some advice, they can provide it. Donald is passionate and knowledgeable, friendly and obliging. I got my first dog five years ago and have been a loyal customer ever since. Now I have two and they love going to visit the shop. Considering the size of the shop, there is a pretty big range (as I say above, they can order just about anything that they don't have on the shelf and have it delivered in a few days), and things are extremely reasonably priced. If I shop elsewhere, I inevitably feel a little bit guilty now, but more importantly, I invariably find out I get a worse deal.

I really like this wee shop. Considering it is so small, it stocks a large variety of goods, and the owner is knowledgable and passionate about pets, particularly cats. I spent a while asking his advice on feeding my kitten, he was happy to discuss the pros and cons of the food I currently use (which he doesn't stock) and to suggest others which he might be better with in the future. He has a good range of toys, bowls, accessories (brushes etc) all at really reasonable prices, and is one of the few places I've found that stocks natural cat litter and hypoallergenic food - perfect if you have a pet with delicate health. The only thing I'd say is that - like the other reviewer says - it's a shame he doesn't do a late night opening one evening to pop in on the way home from work.

Although a small looking shop, there's tons of stuff and the amiable owner has a wide knowledge of animal/pet health and care. Often see other customers getting their cats nails trimmed. If your stressed out or worried about a pet's behaviour, Don(?) will have good advice. If there's something you need and he's not got it in stock, or maybe something you can't find anywhere else, he'll track it down and get it for you quickly. Handy that it's open on Saturdays too, but wee pity the shop isn't open a bit later on Thursdays.
