I came in to look at the different items for sale such as the doublet on the mannequin outside the store. I really enjoyed talking to sales staff and willing to assist in my questions. I ended up purchasing a kilt from them. as well as purchasing other items for my son's wedding later this year. I am so excited to find this shop and the craftsmanship that goes into all their work.

Very kind, genuine staff willing to educate and help us find what we needed! Felt like a hidden gem and not at all gimmicky than other kiltmakers on the mile (although I’m not Scottish and cannot claim to know what is authentic or not - this place just felt honest!)

Got a beautiful scarf custom ordered, excellent selection of fabrics at a wonderful price. The best shop in Edinburgh if you want some traditional Scottish attire.

I'd been searching for the proper souvenir for my trip to Scotland, and I'm absolutely pleased I found this shop. I heard the music coming down the close, so we wandered in. Most delightful staff / owners. They helped me order a custom scarf in my family tartan. (Can't beat the offer for international shipping) Picked up a few other items too.
If you're looking for authentic Scottish items, look no further. Check out this lovely shop, you won't find anywhere else like it in town!

Helpful friendly staff who takes great care in their craftsmanship and knowledge of family tartans. They hand stitch every pleat of their kilts. So happy to have wandered in! Definitely worth a visit

Have purchased custom made tartan scarves from these folks on a number of occasions and will always keep going back. Very knowledgeable, great customer service and fantastic quality authentic products. Also one of the only remaining authentically Scottish and Scottish-owned businesses so close to the Royal Mile. I highly recommended!

This place a hidden gem among many carbon copy tacky shops on the royal mile. I went in to buy a Sgian-dubh and the owner was very helpful, he ordered it in form and contacted me when it arrived. At the same time my girlfriend mum who was visiting from Australia ordered a scarf in her family tartan which was hipped to Australia.
I'm planning on a purchasing replacement kilt outfit and i'll definitely go here for it
thanks

I spent A LOT of time researching online before traveling to Scotland, while I was there I went to kilt makers all over Edinburgh couldn't find the family tartan. Went here and within 20 seconds they found the tartan. Very knowledgeable and clearly make a superior kilt to many

Most recent kilt I have bought and probably the best has I have been wearing kilts for many decades and have several from different suppliers all of which are authentic.
All are of Heavy Worsted I am very pleased with the kilt from Celtic Craft Centre.
I have never entertained the Tourist tat that fool the Tourist.

The ONLY authentic place you’ll find on/off the Royal Mile! First class knowledge and service. There are some things in life that you get what you pay for and this is one of them. If you’re serious about your kilt, visit these guys. If you want a disposable, tourist version then hit the other “dime a dozen” options.

Bill was terrific! A vast source of local knowledge as well as exceptionally well made and well fitted kilts. I am so glad I happened upon his shop in Paisley Close. Well worth the brief detour!

One of the few shops where the wool and the weaving were done in scotland. A lot of stuff gets imported elsewhere.

I have purchased four (4) kilts from the Celtic Craft Centre since 1984. I have had three (3) kilts stripped and repleated due to changes in measurements. Manager Iain Holden and his associates have always delivered the highest level of quality and service.

Fantastic service, family tartan kilt and piper's plaid made for me. I've been in a pipe band for over thirty years and these guys still could offer advice that I hadn't heard before that worked extremely well. Definitely going back for more items.

Very friendly, cosy, rustic shop. If you want the real deal experience buying a kilt in Edinburgh skip the bigger shops and get yourself to this lovely establishment.

Stopped in to check out family tartan and found the staff most helpful. Wound up going back three times and got something each time. Will be calling tomorrow for another order! They are tucked away so don't miss.

An oasis. Not only did I discover my Irish/ Scottish family background with an excellent explanation of my ancestry but got my nephew measured up for the best fitting kilt ever- hand stitched and really neat pleats.( he wears it non stop when-ever he can. ) I now know where to send my fellow Australian chums.

(Translated) Must-see place! Buy a scarf and don't be greedy at the end of the excursion - take a photo in kilts (rented out). I'm sorry I didn't!
(Original)
Обязательное для посещения место! Купите шарфик и в конце экскурсии не жадничайте - сделайте фото в килтах (выдают напрокат). Жалею что не сделал!
