Had a very negative experience from a female staff member who had walked up to me in the shop during covid restrictions to ask me if I wanted their specials instead of properly socially distancing. After complaining to management I was then further harassed by this employee on my Facebook page by being trolled. As a frequent customer to this shop I was not prepared to take this lying down and I continue to shop there to this day. Every other employee in the shop has been proficient and polite particularly at Christmas time when I was asked to contribute to a charity for children which made me feel happy. The moral of this story is that it takes only one bad apple to spoil the crop. Unfounded malicious gossip is an unwanted distraction in the retail industry right now however I am happy most of the staff in this shop take customer service more seriously!

Nice double shot coffee and the cakes are divine. You can also have an alcoholic drink if you prefer and they also do savouries. It's popular so may be busy but it's worth the wait.

The prices for almost everything was quite reasonable but if you keep on thinking that, you will be sucked in to buy things that are overpriced and you probably won't need. Also if you are paying by card. You'll need to call the staff atleast 2 times before you can checkout. That's how bad their system is

Right on the main street so easy to just pop in a nd grab a few bits and bobs to keep you going. Shop was tidy and pretty clean at the time I visited. There was no staff on the tills though so left a wait for quite a few people. The shop wasn't overly busy either...

Would have given 4 stars because its one of the few places that doesn't try to tell me to take my service/assistance dog outside but I was waiting to be served for ages cuz most self serves weren't working but someone else went on one of the tills and served the woman behind me, completely ignoring me. I eventually went to self serve when one was available but that was ridiculous I was waiting to be served by a PERSON

Always have problems with self serve checkouts in superstores, a member of staff (Lisa) overheard me say this and stepped in to save the day! Very friendly, polite and efficient. This lady deserves a medal. From her scanning my shopping, to packing my bag. Honestly couldn't have had better service! Will definitely be returning to this store again. This place fills a great niche. For example, disposable lighters now cost next to nothing to manufacture, but you cannot sell single lighters for 7 pence in a corner shop, so they get a picture put on them and cost £1.50. Here, you can buy a bag of plain disposables for a price closer to the manufacturing cost.

Poundland are great for finding all sorts of different things. A large interesting choice of food items, seasonal non food, paper goods, toiletries, medicines, diy, stationery and more. Ease of movement around stores.

The store is very busy, the layout is a little chaotic but there's so much coming and going with customers, it must be virtually impossible to keep ther snoop floor tidy and fully stocked at all times. Great value for money, for the food and crafts. I can't speak for all the products, if I've not purchased. Many of the toiletries are of a competitive price, consistently. I know most things are a pound but they have beauty product brands which would not even be £1 on offer in another high street beauty shop/ pharmacy. They sell many items, some you would never have thought to check in there. I've found myself buying a few unplanned items. Despite a wide variety of products sometimes it can sacrifice the quantity/ different styles/ colours/ flavours that is possible to stick in a store this size. Despite there being ample room at the 3 or 4 tills, I never see them open, regardless of how busy the self service is. Is not really a matter of encouraging you to use self service, there's not much option. Although the self service has staff present to help, sometimes I don't believe one person to manage numerous self service tills (spread apart) is sufficient. It causes longer queues I feel at times. I also don't understand how much space is wasted by the tills if they are not in use? The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are always busy, but they never mind stopping to help you, in full, with your enquiry. This isn't the usua, the number of times I have been in the store the staff are a 5* the security guard even smiled! It goes without saying this shop it's popular and despite people's feelings about having such a shop on Prince's Street I think it's an asset and extremely handy.

Since they closed the one on Nicholson Street, the Lothian Road or Leith branches were too far out. Possibly the wrong end of Princes Street though. Has four till positions as well as six self service tills, but I doubt these will never be used so should’ve just installed another half dozen self service points.
