Reviews of The Royal Mile Gallery

This shop has everything from maps, to animal pictures, to years old lithographs. It really was a treasure trove and so much fun to search through! Alex was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. When we mentioned what we were looking for after we couldn’t find it in the shop, he made the effort to go into the shops basement and find exactly what we were hoping for. We are so so grateful to have had his services and hope to come back when we are in town.

Friendly and helpful staff with their wares! The prints and art are fantastic, beautifully framed and mounted pieces for your place! They had a huge and varied selection of obscure art too! And they offer a postal service so you don't have get your piece crushed or damaged whilst travelling. Recommended!

Got a custom mount made, staff were extremely friendly, they were very quick and they did it for a very good price. Would highly reccommend for mounts or prints!

This lovely little shop is the perfect little find. You can spend hours browsing through the prints to find the perfect piece for your home or a wee souvenir.
I had amazing service from the owner and good old chat about his shop and its history. You don't get service like that very often.
Such a fresh change from some of the other 'tartan tat' shops.
You should check out the website while the store is closed due to Covid restrictions and definitely visit when he reopens his door. I love this wee shop

My daughter and I stopped in and perused some of their inventory. I found a number of prints I very much liked but because of limited time and space did not purchase them. On our turn to our home in the United States, I was upset with myself for not doing so. Imagine my delight on Christmas morning when my daughter presented me with a beautifully framed print “At the End of the Covert” from the Royal Mile Gallery. She said she worked with James (who went above and beyond in his service) to provide me with a Christmas I shall never forget! I still get misty eyed thinking about it. Thank you to James and his staff.

Super fun store with antique prints of everything Scotland.....from cats and dogs in kilts playing bag pipes, to monuments and tourist attractions all over Scotland, to beautiful Scottish landscapes. Prices aren't bad either......$10 for a smaller print, $20-30 for 8x10ish, and more for bigger ones.
My only complaint was that their hours are a little limited and they didn't stay open as long as their posted hours said. We missed our opportunity to buy the prints we wanted because they were closed 20 minutes before the posted hours said, and won't reopen tomorrow until after we've left town. I am so very disappointed, as there were at least 3 pictures I had picked out that I wanted to buy 😕.

We purchased an antique map from this shop and had the best possible experience. James and his team are extremely knowledgable, friendly, and helpful in assisting customers. They have a lovely selection of prints and also genuine original and rare/antique items that are very reasonably priced. Excellent quality and excellent all around experience. Would highly recommend!!!

Really excellent collection of old prints. James is very knowledgeable and has quite a few stories to tell. One of the best shopping experiences in Edinburgh if you are interested in history, especially old maps.

True gem of a spot. 'Jock' is somewhat of a legend and loved listening to him tell stories of how the gallery and shop came to be.
