Reviews of Unicorn Antiques

Lovely shop with a good selection of antiques however when I asked about the price of particular items I was told I would get them cheaper in an auction not the kind of appropriate response you would expect. The blue and white large platters were nice outside however the silver plate items you can get in any auction in bulk for next to nothing. The reluctance to share knowledge is surprising when you are running a business and would suggest it is about time we had a regular antiques fair again in Edinburgh. I appreciated the good luck comment before I left but I can assure the owner knowledge comes before luck.

Lovely shop, with tons of treasures and really friendly, helpful staff. The prices on some things can be high, but that's to be expected when you're after rare/gorgeous things. I found an antique tartan book and was thrilled. Definitely worth a stop.

A relatively large antique shop with a very good variety of furniture and items. Sells genuine vintage items with a unique character to the shop. Has two levels jam packed with lovely things. Some things are a little on the pricey side though.

Amazing store. Always love visiting here to find new treasures. Staff are really friendly!

What a surprise to find this treasure trove walking distance from Edinburgh Princess Street. If you like quality english antiques you got to visit this one. Two floors full of 50 years of collecting. A delight to explore and meet an owner at work.

I love this vintage shop, time just stop when you go inside, I cannot avoid to image how people use all those unthinkable things, I like to make up stories about odd objects there, I bougth an elephant bell it has a beautifull sound. Is a good place to get a special and unique present.

Lovely little place with lots of beautiful antique pieces, including mirrors, trays, pots, glasses, cups and other bits and bobs. The store owner was a great pleasure to speak to as well! This will be my go-to place for anything antique from now on.

We were looking to sell a dining set (table & chairs) and David from Unicorn Antiques was super helpful and very knowledgeable. David took the time to speak to us and although we did not buy any furniture from the shop we will pop in to look for pieces for our new flat once it’s been refurbished in the new year. Many thanks.

Nice collections and arrangement, the people there were friendly!

This is a really nice shop. There is a wide range of items and the stock is always changing. The quality is always the finest and the prices are very reasonable. It's split across two floors. The ground level has mostly smaller items with larger ones in the basement. They also have items which you wouldn't expect in an antique shop. Pop in and you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

There are a few shops similar in Edinburgh that look pretty chaotic in terms of their layout. This is one of the few where that works, however. It adds character and charm to the place and makes it feel like there are hidden magical objects just waiting to be discovered

There were unusual accessories and miscellaneous goods.

Didn't end up purchasing anything but ended up having a good chat about what I was searching for with the fella downstairs. He clearly cares about antiques as well as seeing a customer walk away happy. While I couldn't find what I was after, he took note of my details just in case he came across it. I'm not into antiques in general but his passion and professionalism makes me reconsider.

It was amazing. We had been looking for a teapot gift to take back to Canada and were honestly losing hope for the kind we were looking for. Unicorn had more than one teapot that would have been perfect. Bought one and love it. Also found a beautiful silver Celtic bracelet for my wife. Service was very good and the owner was very knowledgeable. Thank you

We purchased 3 items. The woman running the shop is lovely...kind, patient and not pushy. The shop itself is cramped, but there's a lot in the space. I wanted one other item, but it was too overpriced for a small bronze statuette.

This shop has to be one of the oldest and best in town, if not in Scotland !
Be sure to visit the deep basement level under the smaller shop as well, or you will only see a fraction of what is on offer.
It is an antique shop like no other, offering such a wide selection of great quality furniture, lighting, plated wares, pictures, mirrors, silver, affordable jewellery and all sorts of things of interest.
It's brilliant for one off gift ideas.
We've just about finished decorating our flat, and must have sourced at least half of the best stuff from this wonderful shop.
The staff are also really friendly and helpful.
A must if you are living in or just visiting Edinburgh.

We arrived shortly before closing but the staff was more than happy to allow us to explore. We found several treasures that came home with us. Well worth the time to browse the goodies!

Despite me not finding anything to buy, the chap downstairs was super friendly and helpful. I'll be back soon and hopefully pick up one or two items.

We stop by anytime we are in the area. This shop is full of interesting items. Make sure to talk to the folks running it. They may have something you are interested in hiding away somewhere.

Had such a great experience here today, both upstairs and downstairs had so much great things to offer, not only that but both staff were lovely and super friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great find!

I am a collector from Malta, and I was amazed with the small treasures there were at the shop. I ended up with my fair share of cranberry glass. I highly recommend this antique shop.

Great spot for antiques large and small. The staff are friendly, helpful and really know their history. Be careful on the stairs to the lower level!

Old bottles, letterpress trays, wooden letters… you name it, Unicorn Antiques probably has it. Upstairs, it's a tightly (and somewhat precariously) packed little place filled with forgotten treasures. Downstairs, you'll find retro furniture, old mirrors, vintage china and even a 1920s wedding dress. If you're a fan of thrift, you'll be in your element.
S. D.
Absolute must-visit for any secondhand treasure seeker - a series of rooms rammed high with all sorts. You'll need to rummage (this isn't for those that like their stock handpicked) but be prepared to find bargain china, glass, clothes, jewellery, knick-knacks, picture frames and more.
K. M.
A great antiques shop full of suitcases and trunks, china, jewellery, door handles, mirrors and some random finds in there too. Make sure you venture downstairs where there are plenty more treasures.
R. P.
Best shop every still to this day been shopping there since 1986 to this day, always help as much as they can, and now they have two parts to the shop is even better than before, you can find most everything you need. Will be back soon,.

I was struggling to organise the belongings of two late family members and called Unicorn Antiques for advice as most of the items were vintage pieces. David sat with me for 5 hours and helped me to organise an entire garages worth of stuff. I really couldn't have done this without him and couldn't recommend him enough!
