Reviews of Forbidden Planet
D. H.
Really great shop for all things comic book, vinyl toy and table top game related. Has a huge selection of items and pop figures. Upstairs has a great selection of table top and manga items. But can be a bit pricey compared with online retailers
T. C.
Visit here for my son, he loves this store so big compared to the first one. Huge selection for all and some very beautiful figures.
Place is always clean and tidy. We generally know where the stuff is we are looking for and the stafc are too notch 👍
C. N. (.
Fantastic store full of nerdy goodies for any film, tv, merch fanatic. Had a very pleasant experience with lovely staff who enjoy expressing their love for products they're into. Every time I come to Glasgow I always pop in. Great place :-).
A. G.
Like the new bigger shop. Friendly and helpful staff with lots of stock. If comics / miniatures are your thing then this is place for you.
G. G.
Went here for years everytime in Glasgow in there old store now the new ones is two floors full of geek pleasures, would have liked to see more horror figures and bit better prices compared to online but still worth a visit 😁.
F. A.
Great place for all rock music lovers.. I bought couple of stuff for my daughter and she absolutely loved it.. their staff are helpful and friendly too
M. W.
As ever, staffed by people who don't understand customer service. Very pricey, lots of stuff much cheaper online. Not a particularly enticing shop
R. S.
Now Based In Sauchiehall Street,
Been Their For a Few Months.

The last time I visited this store it was on buchannan street. The move here was a fantastic idea. its more spacious and lots more on offer from disney bags to new age manga, every comic con persuasion is catered for in abundance. The lgbtq+ genre section of comics and books was displayed in a very tasteful way and I loved that it was just another section instead of a fanfare created for it giving it the sense of normality it deserves. This place had everything for every type of collector or just comic book reader.
The 12ft high funk pop chewbacca was a great addition and my son loved it. A store I will visit again and again. All staff were approachable cheery and clearly enjoyed their employment there.
P. A.
Great place for geeks. A wide range of stuff, specially merchandising and comics/mangas. Unfortunatelly that means that there is no such variety in other genres, like rpg or trading cards.
J. B.
Very impressive comic book store. I encountered some lovely staff who were helpful and friendly. Impressed with the eclectic mix of comic related books. Possibly the most floppies I’ve seen anywhere! One gets the feeling some areas are being developed and I’ll be back to see what their Lit and Star Wars sections grow into.
Loved the images in the stairwell.
K. S.
Great place for geeky products, loved the manga section upstairs
S. L.
I bought a boardgame, something about Cthulu. I don't know. Anyway, the staff were awesome. Sorry, I just sneezed on my arm. 5 stars. I should've bought the Bloodborne card game
E. W.
Forbidden Planet is geek heaven.
You can find all sorts of comics figurines adorable stuffed animals to home furnishing form DC Marvel Harry Potter film and gaming stuff and a lot more.
This shop is an excellent place if you're looking for present four that geek in your life the only problem is you will have difficulty deciding what to buy them.
Staff in the shop are accommodating and very knowledgeable and can help you find whatever you're looking for.
Accessibility into the shop.
You have no problems getting a wheelchair in here and around the store, and there is a lift to the second floor, all you need to do is ask a staff member to take you up. If there is anything you cannot reach the staff are more than happy to help.
A. M.
This place is fantastic for Anime, Manga, Marvel, DC, Starwars, Gaming items and figures its the best place to be and a huge photo op of a very large Chewy pop Doll as you enter the store there I so much merchandise you can spend so many hours here, the shop has moved from Buchan gallery to Saughall Street it has a upstairs and downstairs area to explore all the awesome merchandise have fun looking around this area
C. F. (. E. K.
Prices are a bit high compared to the old shop but great for a look round. Purchased a few items as I had vouchers. If you like this sort of thing you'll love it.
D. A.
Favourite place to buy manga with their 3 for 2 and huge range. They gey some really good figures in too. Very lgbt friendly which is nice
N. V.
Was visiting Glasgow for the weekend and was very happy with my visit, bought 3 Graphic Novels in an offer very impressed with the large variety of stock too
L. C.
Amazing helpful staff who'll help you with any geeky needs. Bought a pop figure and so excited
D. A.
I really like the range of stock in here, my only gripe is that there isn't always a great selection Pop! figures. If this could be expanded to include more from Anime that would be great.
P. M.
Popped in with my 10 year old Son yesterday and he was amazed at all the items. The store is very well mapped out and easy to get around. So much merch from a whole host of things. Particularly enjoyed seeing the massssssive Chewbacca just as we came in the door. Comic books galore and a truly good store for any fan of comic books collection, sci-fi stylings, action figures, collectables or just basic but well know merchandise to visit. 📚
X. M.
Huge selection of stuff, every bit of merch from whatever genre you can think of is here and probably has a Funko Pop of it. Huge improvement over the old store, you can actually browse the comic racks without holding up half the shop and the selection of titles is excellent - the guys in store make an excellent job of putting the titles out and making sure they're where they're supposed to be and can be found. Much better store on the whole.
R. S.
Wide array of Action figures, comics and geeky memorabilia . Love it
v. v.
Amazing shop containing everything relating to Manga/DC/Marvel/Funko pops/figures and of course comics. Well organised and can easily spend an hr looking at things.
R. C.
Tons of stuff, from models and comics to funko pops and pokemon cards. Can be a bit pricy depending on what you're after but worth a look if you like 'geeky' stuff !
S.
Absolutely brilliant. Massive shop with everything that you would want from hot toys too collectable comics.

S. G.
Trolled that place for hours at a time: aliens, manga, etc
Then apparently Matthew popped his cherry and never came back.
m. g.
Good shop, just needs more pops in stock especially the new releases like ursula on throne and the bad ones like lady Tremaine, Queen grimhalde, maleficent etc
c. R.
Great store however pricing could be a bit better not much value for money
T. G.

Staff helpful one of the loungefly items had a silver pen mark on the bottom of the bag which had gone unnoticed until we got home. Wee phone call and an exchange was waiting for us when we returned the bag. No quibbles . Also have exclusives on website useful for any collector to have a view!

A.
Nice place, not too crowded early afternoon. One of the only places in Glasgow where you can get Japanese Pokemon Cards. They're also selling a graded marvel comic. Must recommend if you are going to Glasgow.
G.
this place is heaven for geeks like me and my kids. it lacks a little ft for buggies though and is quite pricey
c. a.
Amazing store with a huge collection of comic books, and associated paraphernalia.

Love the new building! Much better size so there's a much better selection of items. It's slightly more out the way, location wise but the variety of things they sell makes it worth it

I absolutely love this place but it's a shame they didn't have a lift for wheelchair users because we wanted to go upstairs 😔
J. D.
Plenty of cool stuff but want top dollar for it
N. M.
The new store is great and makes visiting and browsing the store a much more enjoyable experience (even in 2020). Has the biggest range on comics, toys and collectibles in Scotland and even has a large range of Japanese import figures too.
K. G.
As a wheelchair user, I can easily make my way around the store. The staff are very friendly and always rush to operate the lift when I require to use it.
Highly recommended...

K. C.
Love this place, tha staff are very helpful
E. C.
Amazing place!! All a geek could ever want. Figures, comic books, bags, board games, and extras. The shop is so nice inside and staff are so friendly and welcoming. Bought quite a few things from forbidden planet, at this one and the shop on Buchanan street before it had moved and items are always great quality. Yes they are a little pricey. But considering the quality of the collectables I ain't complaining. Also once I had proceeded to the checkout my handbag (legend of zelda) and purse (star wars) were complimented by the gentlemen behind the counter. Great shop too bad it's no everywhere
C. N.
Geek paradise... Big collection of comics and manga, pop vinyls, some cool fantasy books... Dungeons and dragons books, board games and card games. Honestly so many things... If you're not already nerd-gasming, what else could you ask for? Lovely staff to guide you throughout.
Z. P.
mm. lgbt section. lebzibans.
K. S.
Great atmosphere , stock and staff. Interesting little nods to fan boys and girls if you look carefully throughout the shop.........is the Zorro movie really so popular that it deserves its own corner?
R. M.
If you've ever been to forbidden planet old shop. You know it was a bit small. But now that the new shop is a lot lot bigger. Will it's fantastic, you can walk around it. Pick up stuff that you may of missed in old shop.
It's so so much better and I not been up stairs yet so I couldn't say what that like.
But in whole if I could I live in it. It's great fantastic, and they are getting new stuff in every day.
E. M.
Love this shop, went with my nieces
A. T.
One of the best Forbidden Planets I have ever been to, so much unusual stuff i haven't seen in other places and well laid out.
M. D.
My daughter loves this shop, we visited Saturday for her 15th birthday so she could choose some things, staff were so helpful & friendly. Good selection of manga books too. Will be back next month for more books I'm certain.

While visiting relatives in Glasgow I took my young nephew on a shopping expedition to this store . Neither of us had ever been in - it opened recently - but he loved it . Very well stocked and friendly staff . My nephew is always asking when I'm coming back to Glasgow and this store might very well be a factor
S. B.
This shop is basically an outlet selling sale stuff, as the main Forbidden Planet is now in Suchiehall Street. It's a lot better now.
R. B.
About time forbidden planet had bigger premises!!! Been going there for almost 30 years, now takes double the time because there's so much. We'll done guys xx
I. N.
Geek heaven! Well spread out compared to last premises with far more merchandise. Be prepared to spend hours here.
J. R.
Absolutely love this place. I often jump in to get hard to find pop figures. The staff are very helpful aswell.
D. P.
A larger store with ground floor & 1st floor plenty of comics for all action figures helpful stagg to help with what your looking for.
T. W.
A great selection of games, comics and merchandise. Their D&D miniatures section could be larger, and they lose points for stocking the Expansions for games they don't have, but overall great.
j. m.
Excellent choice of Manga and 3 for 2 offer is great
S. T.
Got to be my favourite shop, if your looking for a comic, action figure or collectable it's the place to go
M. L.
Love the new shop, it's huge and well stocked with some amazing things
T. 2.
Great shop - been going in since I was quite young. Was in the other day - had just what I was looking for. Staff are friendly and helpful however the large range of comics and merchandise is what stands out!

D. M.
Good shop great service
S. J.
Nice varied Funko Pop selection, not to mention giant Chewie!
J. C.

J. B.
Been using FP Glasgow for years. I contacted them recently regarding my Standing Order and mentioned I had mislaid one of my back issues. Derek not only said they had a copy but put it in my Standing Order with no charge. Outstanding service and I would recommend to anyone local to use this as their LCS.
J. B.
Everything a nerd would need! Got given great advice by a staff member and took time to speak to me about comics/graphic novels
J. G.
Forbidden Planet is the place to be if you love all things anime, manga, comic, model, plushie, related thing's, phew, there's both up and down stairs, with a huge choice to browse and a lot of collectables, even if they don't have something, they'll probably order it in for you, the staff have always been really nice and helpful and have good recommendations, absolutely great place, definitely recommended to stop by and have a look
R. L.
It was great as always but has lost it's character and charm like the old store. Also where's the Marty McFly hats???
D. F.
Great value, great products, the locations a bit cramped but it's in the city centre so cant really expect much else Defo worth a visit if your into geek culture
B. M.
Brilliant shop. Tonnes of choice and friendly staff. Only minus point is that it's too small and cramped. Would be so much better if there was more room. Update. This was the old original shop which has now relocated and is now as good as it gets.
W. B.
GREAT SHOP The Forbidden Planet is home to a great range of comics, graphic novels, manga, action figures and lots, lots more! Including a great range of " POP VINYL FIGURES "
All in Glasgow City Centre!
(so far when I've been in with my niece had just what we wanted , but you have to be careful in a place like this as it can get " very very very expensive " especially if you take a kid in with you
J. J.
Too many comic books in too small a display. Needs to be displayed vertically and not horizontally to make easier to find. Great shop otherwise.
m. w.
Great shop to get your geek on everything from comics to collectables and manga
T. P.
This is a newly open shop in Glasgow. Massive store, with more selection then Edinburgh. Even have the much loved vintage comic section. Have everything you could want from Anime/Manga, Star Wars, Star Trek etc. Well worth a visit if your in to Sci Fi Fantasy.

Fantastic place for fans of the comic books, manga and card games.
N. A.
Amazing selection and friendly staff. If they don't have it they will try to help you get it!
R. M.
Great shop with knowledgeable staff. Could be a bit more of a cheerful space, the Edinburgh store is brighter, but it's still nice to be able to browse and be tempted by something new.
J. B.
Mind blowing range of anime products. Well laid out. Will definitely visit regularly.

C. M.
Fair prices, and a good selection of content. A little bit cramped inside, but otherwise great
b.
I have been going to FB glasgow for nearly 20 years, its amazing to see the expansion into this new space. Brilliant layout and great collection of comic issues and trade paperbacks. Geek heaven.
U. 9.
Good merchandise massive shop and the lay outs easy to find stuff but 1 staff member was just a bit arrogant shouldn't be on a till if you have attitude for no reason
E. V.
Great place, wonderful products, from figures to board games and manga. I'm in love with that place actually.
K. H.
The assistant upstairs in the shop was fantastic, she was helpful and courteous.
This is not the first time that I have been in the shop.
When asked a question or for assistance, she always helps the customer.
J. S.
Biggest range of comics, collectibles and geek stuff in Glasgow City centre. Staff usually very friendly, and knowledgeable about their stuff
J.
This place is absolutely wonderful grans service he only problem is that it is like a maze of pop culture and I can not find what I’m looking of
J. S.
As you can tell from the picture I attached. I collect Funko. But this shop has all the comics and pops and much more that you need👍 Very friendly staff members, Designated areas for many things. Very organized. Not just chucked in and hoped they sell. Always stocked well and will definitely be back in there again soon👍
A. S.
Went in looking for a certain graffic novel
A. M.
New Forbidden Planet, same as old Forbidden Planet, BUT with stairs and a lot more space. Kids (big & small) could happily spend hours in here.
A. S.
If you are a comic nerd then this place is for you!! If I didn't have a plane to catch I would have stayed there. Now I am on their website :) glad I found this place.
H. C. M.
A brilliant shop for sci-fi , marvel ,predator, aliens, terminator etc fans, always has good window displays, this shop sells so much comics, books, models, figures , posters , postcards, badges, the list goes on franchise of films / tv programmes

The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable about the comics they are selling! They have a huge selection of classic and current series and a good supply of independent graphic novels and issues. They also stock local creators which is incredible.

M. G. H.
Great staff, couldn't find what I was looking for Paul sorted everything our for me and had a great knowledge of the stock they had and knew exactly where everything was without having to check
Loving rhe new store
E. G.
Great shop, only downside is the size, it's always over crowded.
The layout of the shop also awkward, they need to rearranged the shop so the figures/collectables are down both middle shelves and the comics are around edge.
R. J.
Love this place, caters for everything and has loads of Funko Pops! Staff are very friendly and store layout is amazing.
A. M. (.
It's an awesome, quaint little shops for all my nerdy needs. 10/10
G. M.
The sellers here are great people who really care about what they do. But the layout of the store is uncomfortable and prohibitive with everything (apart from the recent release comics) jammed up close and tight. I'd say sort that, as other FP stores don't suffer the same problem.
F. W.
Amazing staff great atmosphere and amazing selection of comics
M. C.
Awesome little shop. Best forbidden planet I have been in.
S. S.
Good Staff, very helpful and informative! Keep getting in good pop figures and the reviews will be positive!
S. B.
Helpful staff and great range of stock. Would like to see larger less cramped store in Scotland
J. S.
Great wee place, good place to find obscure comics, love it!

B. Z.
Nice little shop with an awesome selection of trade paperbacks. It does tend to get crowded and it's impossible to get around because of how small it is. Not really great if you just want to browse around because you'll end up feeling like you're always in someone's way.
S. S.
Great staff, great comics
A. L.
Great selection. Pretty much the go to for comic books and graphic novels in Glasgow City Centre. Friendly staff and convenient location outside the subway also adds to the experience.

N. K.
Great shops with one of the best selections of geekery and comics etc. you're likely to find on a main street. Can be a little crowded and it's very narrow, so not brilliant for wheelchairs and the like, but the staff are very friendly so if possible, let them know and they can probably help you in some way.
J. F.
It's a brilliant shop with so much stuff for geeks. It's got comic's, toys and books. The only problem is the shop is is small, so not that much room to move about.

Perfect shop,Perfect service from warm staff. What more do you want?
R. C.
A great place to go if you are looking for comics and memorabilia to geek culture. With a great collection of current and back issues comics, trades, manga, pops, figurines and more, it has a good chance of finding what you might be looking for. It's always a place I stop of at when I'm back home visiting family. Friendly staff who are helpful and inviting.
The only negative trait to give it the score is that it is all crammed into a very small shop. The trade paperback section at the back is very cramped and tight making it difficult to navigate. Also books can be squashed into shelves and some are damaged from being forced into the shelves by whomever may have looked at it prior. However it is said to be getting a bigger shop soon so hopefully this will finally rectify this issue for such a great store.
a. k.
An excellent range of comic books and graphic novels, and a huge range of memorabilia / collectables, and a nice selection of board games. The shop is bright and airy, set amongst a small handful of like minded stores. The staff and friendly and helpful.
R. “. L.
Jam packed but got the comics I was after and a fab freebie. Great chat at the till even though he was busy. Plenty of time for the customer.

Good selection of products and staff are very friendly.

Probably the best forbidden planet I've ever visited. It's small but they really maximise the space available. Everything is divided into sections with comics, graphic novels, manga, toys and smaller items behind the till. The staff are also very friendly.
G. G.
My grandson Loves this shop because of all the Japanese products. He is Dragon ball Z and Manga Crazy. Staff are always helpful.10/10 every visit.
G. d. J.
Great place to pick up some books, statues and other sci find stuff.
M. C. (.
It's good, alot of stuff to choose from. The service on the other hand is a bit impersonal, they act like your bothering them when asked a question at times.
G. A.
Always love this shop, but it is very cramped to walk about in, especially as a traveller with a backpack, and the prices are a little bit too dear for me, nine times out of ten, you can find the same products cheaper elsewhere.
D. C.
bit pricey staff was nice books sometimes come folded
C. M.
Amazing atmosphere, you can find almost anything in that place
A. R.

C. W.
Great comic book store and well organised. The staff are helpful too.
D. C.
I have visited this shop for many years, both when I lived in Glasgow and when I come home to visit. It has an great back catalogue of comics that are neatly laid out and an abundance of manga, graphic novels and figures. My only complaint with this shop is that it can feel pretty cramped and tight, especially in the area of the graphic novels at the back. It won't deter me from visiting but it's the only down fall. Well worth the visit.
I. M.
Staff are always super friendly and helpful.
I will say if you get claustrophobic, maybe peep in the door at weekends to see how busy it is, as it can get very busy very quickly, and with the layout being the best it can be given the building, it can be difficult to move at times with lots of people. However it is quieter during the week.
C. M.
One of my favourite places to go in Glasgow, great selection of comics and action figures a veritable paradise for geeks.
N. C. S.
Huge store with a giant range.
R. P.
Super good stuff here even if what your looking for is abit niche
A. p.
I'm awaiting the new shop on sauchiehall street as the Buchanan Street shop is tiny. I've been going there since I was in early teens and I'll be sad for the move, but hopefully there's more space and more comics

Best Forbidden Planet yet. Huge, well stocked.
R. S. K.
Collection is a little limited when it comes to Manga, and I wish they had more figurines. Other than, the shop is great
L. G.
Not as great as it used to be, over stocked with the more of the same things mainly funko pops. Although did pick up some relaunched MLPs 35th anniversary ones.
M. J.
Sort of dated a bit now and perhaps too much star wars Vs other merchandise but still a valuable shop in the community that deserves patronage
R. L.
Couldn't get my granddaughter out she loved it. Also we'll organized only so many in at a time.

R. -.
Great comic and merchandise store.
C. M.
Good comic shop. Busy at weekends.
D. R.
Good place for comic book lovers and for geeks of all kinds, however if you do not like tight spaces this is not the place for you. Granted the store is quite small and well stocked with goods but it is hard to walk about and look when you are squeezed between other customers and the book shelves. Staff are alright but do tend to leave stools and boxes sitting about where customers are walking.
Need to find themself a bigger unit/store or work out a better layout as this one only works during quiet periods.
M. P.
Good stock, incredibly awkward layout with shelves too high to see anything or reach anything for a closer look without asking staff, only ever two staff members who are always busy on the tills, and staff are generally rude and unhelpful. Today alone I needed a minute to fix my backpack as the strap came undone and I was in danger of dropping it, so I took a minute to rest it on a bookshelf and adjust the strap, only for a staff member to come up to me and tell me to keep moving because I was apparently blocking the door, even though the door was more than a foot and a half away from me. Staff are awful, layout is awful, but if you need something you'll probably find it here. Just don't expect any kind of politeness from these idiots.
d. m.

R. D.
Good selection. And helpful staff
K. H.
Went in store today to have a look at the older stock. Bought a Harley Quinn figure which im assuming is ex display as it was open and covered in dust (not advertised as this). Bit disappointed by this and would've thought staff would dust the £90 figure prior to boxing it up for sale. Hopefully the new store is on the ball with things like this. Staff very friendly, just disappointed in receiving a dust covered figure and not having this disclosed aa being ex display
J.
Friendly and helpful. Solid customer service.
P. M.
Very cool place plenty of geek merchandise for everyone.
H. R.
Absolutely love it! So many good options.

I. M. (.
Not that big and therefore not too well stocked. Huge collection of bobbleheads though.
A. B.
While on the small side and a bit cramped Forbidden Planet remains one of the best comic shops I have found in Glasgow.
J. W.
Definitely a step up from the old store. Needs more Middle Earth merchandise though.
N. R.
Iconic comic and memorabilia store
N.
Good size and well stocked
P. H.
Great place for everything geek
A. H.
Good selection of comics but prices are absurd
P. R.
Well I pass through the town to go to work and also attend college in the town so I pretty much visit this store every single day... I am addicted.
This is the place to go if your looking for: Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga, Figures, Toys, Accessories, Posters, Books, Props, Gaming Cards, Trading Cards.
The store clerks are quiet and when you ask them a question they can vary from being vague to having an extreme amount of detail on the subject which obviously varies from their expertise. Comics and Graphic Novels are so large and expanded that it's pretty much impossible to know everything.
The new American employee is bang on perfect to liven the place up a notch. He brings something else to the table. He hugged a man (with permission) for making an awesome purchase. the price is reasonable. Very I would say. Don't know if they are accurate on figures and such but if I had a better income I would definitely buy some of the Star Wars figures I eyeball everyday.
The Organisation of everything is consistent and accurate. Alphabetical left to right then there is a new release section following the same order.
They open earlier than usual on Wednesdays for their new orders arriving. If you can't see what you're looking for just ask a member of staff and if they have it in the store room they will run down and get you a new copy. They are very helpful.
D. P.
Best place in Glasgow for fan / geeky stuff and if they don't have it they can get it for you. They've got a huge POP Vinyl collection and quite a lot of rare ones. Their Dr Who collection is also massive. The other thing I like is you can get a box so they put all the things you're collecting in and at the end of the month you can go in and just pay for it, no needing to be there as soon as the 'exclusive' items are in, they'll put it in your box to save you the hassle.
S. S.
My go to place when I'm back in Glasgow and has been for nearly 30 years. One of the only places left in the city to sell comics, it is a marvel (pun intended) to see just how stacked they can make this place with toys and comics. Considering they have to make a living off razor thin margins the prices are fair, and to keep these places alive I'd gladly pay it. Staff are helpful and friendly to real nerds and muppets without a clue alike which takes patience and care. Go!
R. B.
Plenty to choose from. Standard stock for a Forbidden Planet shop. Quite a small shop given its in Glasgow.
G. M.
Friendly staff with good service
A. “.
Great selection, friendly staff!!
S. V. (.
Lots of board games, too many to choose from!
S.
It has everything I love, I have no problem with it at all😊
S. W.
As a comic book shop it's awesome, I was looking for rarer star wars figures but didn't find anything I needed. There was loads to choose from, and many different kinds of figures ranging from the texas chainsaw massacre to pokeimon, large hot toys and gentle giant figures are there but at a high end price. It's in an ideal location on the main shopping road of Glasgow, but look carefully as we walked straight past it the first time!.
A. .. A.
Small shop but grt choice of merchandise
l. w.
Omg it's so big compered to the wee shop they had you need to go and look for yourself and take a self with the big pop chewy in the entrance
S. R.
Always helpful and great selection
A. P.
No 1st issues of mangas
W. C.
Only thing wrong with the old shop was the lack of space, moving here was the best thing they had done
M. C.
Full of collectibles, comics, vinyl toys, and Funko Pop figures, Forbidden Planet International has anything and everything that a collector could ever want or need.
N. D.
They have books toys and action figures and many more things you name it
