So fabulous to be able to go into an actual dressmaking shop to be able to look at everything like trims, dyes and embroidery thread. Very helpful staff. I looked up a pattern online that was not available but they had it in the shop so could just give number of pattern.

I have been shopping in Franklin’s for my sewing supplies for a long time. The long standing staff have always been supportive towards me and even sent customers to me for their garment alterations. They offer me advice on materials and techniques. As well as ordering materials from their other store when I have needed them. Fantastic !

I always find the staff very polite, friendly and helpful. It is a lovely place to just wander round and browse, looking at all ghe lovely materials etc that they have on display. In my view it is the best craft shop in town.

Great place to visit if you're keen on sewing and knitting etc. Good range of accessories like buttons, braids, crochet hooks and needles but I found the fabrics were quite expensive and not a huge choice for those on a budget

The staff inside are always keen to please, I am disabled & wheelchair dependent so as my support worker was about to pull me backwards up the step one of the assistants inside saw us and put a ramp down so we could get inside much easier, it would be great if there was a permanent ramp down, we were told if they left if out it would get stolen there was a bell to alert them inside so they could then put the ramp down but it stolen! Whatever they put down it would either get stolen or vandalised . It has quite a long entrance to the inside of the shop so I am sure something could be made for permanent gradual slope could be made from the inside downwards. The staff are always prepared to help but it should be better now in the time that they are supposed to be wheelchair friendly. There could so easily have a gradual permanent slope . As with everything it probably comes down to money. Such a shame, such a performance each time! Now it is supposed to be much better with the laws of being wheelchair friendly I don't know if it gets around it by their idea of the heavy ramp they have to put down then pick it up as if they left it either it would get taken or if some triped over it it would be all involved with compensation that's why it would have to be a gradual one from inside outwards. The staff inside are very polite and if they can see me being assisted in they will put that ramp down but it is really heavy and none of the staff are getting any younger! Once inside one can feel quite envious of people that can do such amazing things from balls of wool or with the many metres of material, I feel quite inadequate with my purchase of bits of elastic or a few buttons! Each time I get in the shop I find it quite fascinating, I do really!
