I ordered two satchels, one standard 14" and one 12,5" with a lot of customization. What made me choose this company was the possibility to customize my satchel and I took advantage of this by ordering extra wide gusset for the bag, magnetic fasteners instead of normal buckles and a shoulder strap with a matching color. Even further, I wanted to have a D-ring to fasten my keys inside the bag and a slip-in pocket for my bus card and they were no problem for the Leather Satchel co. Despite all the customization, the price was still very reasonable. The bags arrived in less than a month even with all the extra details and they are of excellent quality. I was very fortunate to get my satchel on a special offer through a Groupon deal and I was so impressed with the quality and look of the satchel that I ordered another straight away. To assist with finding things quickly in the single main compartment, I am using a handbag organiser, which are cheap and readily available. My experience with The Leather Satchel Co. was amazing beginning to end. I'm not one who's prone to hyperbole but please, allow me to gush: I've ordered satchels from other companies before (namely The Cambridge Satchel Company) and thought that was the pinnacle of quality... until I received my order from these guys! The quality of craftsmanship and the leather were FAR superior to that of the other companies and the customer service far exceeded my expectations. I had almost a dozen correspondences with the Daniel over the course of about a week and he was patient, kind, and thorough in each of his responses. In my experience with other satchel retailers, the wait-time was nearly unbearable. It took, on average, about 6 weeks for the item to get made and shipped. All of my previous orders were made around the same time during the year so it couldn't have been the holiday rush. I'm glad to say it only took about a week for my satchel to arrive here in California. Another huge factor in my satisfaction with this company are the customizable options. I'm a classical musician who carries around large (both tall and wide) manuscripts on a daily basis so being able to increase the gusset and extend the flap was a dream come true. Not to mention, each add-on was reasonably priced. All-in-all, The Leather Satchel Co. has become one of my favorite retailers of leather goods. The craftsmanship, customer service, and quality blew me away. I'm definitely planning on purchasing from them again. I've already recommended them to my friends, family, and even strangers who have stopped me in coffee shops or just passing by on the streets! PS: One point of advice for the lovely chaps over in the shipping department: it would be great if the bags could be stuffed before being sent off. My bag wasn't terribly out of shape but the flap was bent a little. With the leather being as supple as it is, it wasn't anything a few days stuffed full of manuscripts and being sat upright couldn't fix but it might be a point of concern for other customers. Very professional, helpful service, beautiful satchels! Before purchasing the satchel I had a few queries about which size to get. They are able to make completely custom satchels so that you know you will absolutely love yours (I sure do!). My 16 year old daughter said she wanted a traditional style satchel. I decided it would be a good present as she had worked really hard for her exams and is about to start college. She didn't have any preconceptions regarding price or quality but I wanted to get her something a little more special and something that was going to last. After going on a few of the high quality satchel websites I decided the Leather Satchel Co site the best for information and helped me select the bag that fitted our requirements best. Once ordered, the bag only took a few days to turn up (although I would imagine the spec I ordered is very popular and kept in stock maybe). The package arrived, and screams quality from the start. The satchel arrives in a plastic bag; in a duffel bag, in a box complete with a letter, in an Alice in Wonderland envelope. So far so good then... But all this will mean nothing if the bag isn't up to scratch. However, the bag is a seriously quality item (with a 5 year warranty). I don't profess to know anything about leather but the leather of this bag appears seriously heavy duty and looks like it'll last a lifetime, the stitching is excellent too. The small details have also been looked after, with the edges and insides blacked rather than left alone. The bag is quite stiff, but you know this will soften and age into something even more attractive. So, if you want a bag that'll last and just give you a great feeling owning it buy one of these. Yes they are a bit more expensive than some lashed together satchel from the far east, but they are certainly less costly than some of the other boutique satchel brands too. Highly recommended!!! From the very first contact The Leather Satchel Co have been wonderful! Customer service is refreshingly good, and my satchel is beyond my expectations. The quality of the leather, and the craftmanship is second to none. The ability to design your own customised satchel means that you can not only have a satchel that completely meets your needs in respect of size and mode of carrying - for example you can change its depth if you need to fit in more stuff than average, or add a briefcase handle so you can simply grab and run. The long strap can be used on the shoulder, or across the body and can be detached - you can customise to make your satchel into a backpack - or all three. It also means that you can have a satchel that is unique to you - there is a wide range of colours to choose from and you can have contrasting colours within your design if that is for you! Everything is backed up with a hefty 5 year guarantee - but my bag is such good quality I imagine it will last me for years and years. This is a great British company that I have absolutely no hesitation to recommend to my family and friends although the quality of my satchel speaks for itself to everyone that sees it.

I am totally in love with my satchel. I haven't left the house without it since it arrived, beautifully wrapped in brown paper. I'm a slightly over zealous shopper. I tend to spend days pouring over various similar products, reading reviews and just gazing at pictures before making my purchase. I was looking at a few companies, but the fact that I could customise my satchel to my exact specifications sold this company to me, plus I'd not read a bad thing about them on-line. I ordered the 14" pillar box red satchel, customised with a brief case handle, magnetic fastenings and my initials embossed in silver leaf. I was debating whether to get the 12.5" as I was concerned the 14" might look too large as I'm only little, but after asking the advice of the ever-friendly Paul at the Leather Satchel Co via e-mail, he suggested the 14" would be better for me as my bag does fill up fairly quickly and I needed room! I definitely made the right decision, the bag is roomy, but doesn't look too big. I think 12.5" would have been too small for my daily bag requirements. So glad I had the magnetic fastenings too, it's worth the extra £12 for the amount of time I save opening and closing my bag every few seconds! I know satchels are having a bit of a fashion moment, but I'm the only person I know with such a gorgeous bag! For my birthday, which isn't till next Monday, after pondering about this since last year, and doing my research, I finally ordered and received my tricolour leather Satchel yesterday. The most perfect and beautiful bag I have set eyes on, I love satchels and always have done but this was beyond perfection. The Leather Satchel company was founded in 1966, genuine hand crafted leather, no machines, everything with tools and hands, they have so much faith in their handy work and product, that each bag, comes with a 5 year guarantee. I initially ordered some leather samples, because I couldn't decide, they sent me pillar box red, baby pink, baby blue, cockatoo blue and bell flower purple. It was still rather difficult choosing the colours, they were all really lovely. So I ended up choosing 3 colours (baby blue, bell flower purple and cockatoo blue) instead, summery colours but will brighten up any winters day! I ordered a 15" satchel, with a 3 way carrier, briefcase, shoulder and back pack. The ordering process was really easy and pleasant. The bag came in a dust bag inside a box with a personally signed thank you letter and by courier. The best thing is, you can choose from having one colour to two, three or more colours, you can customise it with other things such as briefcase or bolt on handle, buckle or magnetic closures, embossing, wide or usual size gusset etc... Unless someone has picked the same colour combination, design and letters of your initial, the bag is pretty much an original or limited edition. I'd have this any day than a box standard LV/Gucci/Mulberry/VW bag! When the bag came, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to use it or let it sit on display... I'd recommend to everyone and anyone!

I got my Satchel as a Suprise Birthday present from my Boyfriend, it was delivered to my work place yesterday and to say I was delighted is an under statement!! He said that the emails back & forth were very informative & friendly and the payment system was easy to use! It was delivered in a sturdy box, wrapped in clear plasic inside a lovely black, sheen dust bag, with the Leather Co logo. It also came with an adorable leather keyring in the bag colour!! My daughter alerted me to your satchels by 'liking' you Facebook and I had a good look through your website. I had a birthday last week and despite the fact I turned 68, I wanted one of your satchels. I used to use a satchel at school and it has brought back many happy memories. My husband kindly bought me a 12.5 inch deep purple satchel, and it's just great. Well made, very strong, not too huge and a pleasure to take out. The iPad fits in nicely and all my general hand bag clutter. I knew I wouldn't be carrying around lots of books like a student so I was keen to have the smaller size. I can wear it on my back when riding my bike or sling it on my shoulder. I'm thinking of downsizing a photo of my grandchildren to slide into the address slot on the front! It arrived well wrapped in a duffle bag, covered in a plastic bag and then protected by a large cardboard box. We have accounts with Amazon and it did make it easier just to order through them. Delivery was very efficient as it arrived a couple of days after the order was placed. A few months ago we were in the UK and stumbled across “The Leather Satchel Co.”. These guys are a small family business making an amazing array of leather bags and other assorted leather products. They are on the outskirts of Liverpool, a couple of minutes from junction 21a on the M6. We just called in to see what they’re stuff was like, and were blown away by the range of bags. The guys were so helpful - when we said its shame you don’t have that bag in these colours, they just said - no problem we’ll make one for you in whatever colour combination you want. We pointed out we were leaving the UK in a few days; again this wasn’t an issue - we’ll make sure they’re ready, was the response. Furthermore to make sure we didn’t have to go out of our way to pick them up, Keith Hanshaw, the Managing Director, gave us his number so we could ring when we were coming back down the M6. We called Keith at his home on a Saturday afternoon, and true to his word, he met us at the factory, to give us our custom-made bags. Then he offered to further customise the bags by embossing them, and spent ages embossing leather off cuts in various colours so we could see the effect before embossing the bags. Keith spent a couple of hours with us just to make sure everything was spot on. Keith, your company’s products, staff and service are amazing. Here in Oz, lots of people have admired the bags and asked where they came from; hopefully the odd Aussie tourist may come knocking on your door.
