My mom is a mixed media artist who was in absolute heaven browsing the shelves full of wonderful art supplies. The ambiance in the store is amazing even if you aren't an artist, and the large jars of pigment up on the shelves were beautiful to behold. A highly inspirational shop with a super helpful and friendly staff. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit if you're in the area!

I have come to purchase specific brushes for a friend in Tokyo as they are not available, if they are, they are over priced, so l am happy to hop on a train to get her brushes for her.

We were looking for a particular lino cutting tool. The staff were great and we found exactly the right one plus a few other things. Recommend for specific items or just to explore

P. M.This is the most beautiful and cosy shop in London in my opinion, the staff are friendly and they operate in a no pressure to buy manner which is great. They give you the time and space to look at their products in-store without the awful music we get in most Central London shops these days. This shop transports me to the late 1800's or maybe early 1900's - I mean this in the most romantic manner. Where you can buy good quality art supplies in a good old fashioned English manner with excellent customer care. I have never been able to walk past this shop without buying something.
A big thank you to the owner who has managed to maintain a traditional shop with traditional English values. To me this is how every shop should be.

I had gone to purchase some inks and pens from the store, yet I am not knowledgeable so an assistant was very kind in offering me advice. She even took out a colour chart so that I could compare different inks, and when I decided to change one, she offered to go and change it herself.
The whole experience was very pleasant, and the atmosphere was relaxing.

A. C.Very very helpful both through the web channel and face to face. They give advice on their brushes and have an unrivalled range of materials including pigments and media, if you decide to save some costs and make up your own paints. Do take care with some of the heavy metal pigments you can buy though as you would not want to breathe in the dust; but their paper bags are clearly labelled with hazard information. Almost worth visiting just for the history.
W.This is a very special shop with a long history is supplying all sorts of art materials. The staff were very helpful and made suggestions about oil paints, prices, quality and colour ranges. The same applies to choosing brushes and other equipment. Look out for sale and reduction items!

What I would like more is more choice of papers and calligraphy nibs.
I do understand that a shop in the heart of London wants to sell only made in England nibs but if you want to offer the top quality that's too big of a restriction.
For example they do have Italian paper, Japanese inks and stuff like that, so why not offer the Nikko and Zebra G's that are amazing for the pointed pen hands, or the speedball nibs (they still have the holders if I remember well) that for me work way better than the Mitchell's for the Italic.
Also, if I find a ruling tool during my next visit I may aswell became the happiest boy in London.
t. c.I rang them this morning trying to source some pigments, not only did they have them in stock in the quantities I needed, but they are going to post out and I will have them tomorrow, the lady on the phone was both courteous and very helpful.
All in all a very pleasant experience, I shall definitely be using them again.
