I was really pleased with the service from Tim at Tim's Bait & Tackle. I had gone to another angling shop in the area (which i wont name) to purchase a new reel and they were not very helpful or warming, in fact i got the sense that they were trying to rip me off with something i didn't want and it was a clicky atmosphere. Tim was very patient with me and really helpful in choosing a quality reel which was at a reasonable price. He was great to chat with and gave me a load of good information about which lakes i can fish on the Island on a day ticket and even helped me with some information i was looking for for a work enquiry! Really nice family run business and i would trust Tim implicitly to help me choose the right products for me and my level of fishing. Good choices of rods, reels, accessories and end tackle too.

Having read some reviews I can only comment what I have experienced at this shop. I went to purchase course fishing equipment as I was a fly fisherman. The owner could not have been more helpful and I have been back and recommended friends. Thank you for all your help and guidance.

Had a fantastic experience when visiting Tim's tackle shop, when I took my younger cousin for his first session fishing over the summer, Tim was extremely helpful and went out of his way to help us rent out the correct gear, find the right bait and set up the rods, he was extremely patient with my cousin and answered all of the many questions he asked. Lots of local anglers were on hand also sharing tips and giving advice, was a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome by all, would highly recommend to beginners and even more experienced anglers 😁

I have fished Rookley many times its a great example of how a fishery should be run. Its a well stocked lake with some stunning English Carp to 42lb. the swims are very clean and spacious with landing platforms on most, all have a barked finish. All the fish are in brilliant condition and I have had the pleasure to land millie weighing in at 42lb. Tim whom runs the lakes is on hand and always helpful and offers very good advise. The on site shop is like a tardis and stocks everything you could possibly need. good quality baits seem to do the business stay away from the particle and keep it simple, SIT ON YOUR HANDS and wait (don't ignore the margins) On site you can order food from the club house, or for those that prefer to cook for themselves and forgot that all important pack of bacon there is a coop just 5min walk away. Great place for a relaxing weekend or a week trip and a good chance of landing a prime PB

Good onsite tackle shop, very neatly kept swims and all round good fishery. Owner of the tackle shop gave our little one his own rod to keep which made his day! Would have been nice to have the choice of just paying for an am/pm slot for the little ones. Fish are very well kept and looked after and good fun for first time and experienced fishers.

Stopped off here to pick up some maggots, my husband was impressed with the stock in the shop and how helpful and polite the man behind the counter was. Highly recommended for all your coarse fishing needs.

Amazing..... So well looked after and managed. Love the small lake catching crucian carp... And going after some of the larger residents in the specimen lake if I fancy more of a challenge. A tackle shop on site that has everything.. You can reel in have a bite too eat in the bar/restaurant. This place has everything love it

I’m new to the island and carp fishing but straight away I quickly learnt Tim’s Bait and tackle is the place to go. Tim has a great range of bait and tackle, he is also very knowledgeable about his fishing and happy to help even with a novice like me. I’d 100% recommended paying a visit to Tims Bait and Tackle.

If your just starting out or an experienced angler tim’s Is the place too go for all your tackle/baits or even abit of knowledge about the islands lakes. Very reasonably priced without the cost of postage, loads of stock with added bonus of being able too a have a look and smell of the baits which you don’t get too online.

I've been fishing Rookley Country Park for about 18 years now. During that time i have found Tim to be very polite and helpful not just to me but to people he has come in contact with whilst i was with him. I've had some very good fishing sessions at Rookley throughout the years and will continue to return. I have read Tom and his sons review about Tim and Rookley and must say i'm a bit surprised at it. This was way back in June. I was the guy in the corner swim. While i was setting up i noticed the guy opposite had steered his boat into my swim and dropped his hook bait. Thinking that he wasn't aware of the boundaries i didn't say anything at the time. I mentioned it to Tim later and i assumed he'd had a word with the guy as he didn't send the boat there again. Rookley specimen lake is quite small and therefore there is a need to keep to your own swim. The swims may be booked out to someone who is arriving later. Most fisheries have the half way rule and boundaries defining the swims. When i'm at Rookley i go out for the day and in doing so rest my swim. Any carp angler should know that resting your swim can be beneficial to your catch rate. I'm sure it helps me catch those extra carp when i return. Whilst i am resting my swim i would be very annoyed if some one fished it while i was out. Tim certainly knows the boundaries of the swims on his fishery therefore he would know if you were fishing in your own swim or not. Secondly if you fish outside of your swim it can cause problems if you get a run and wipe out other anglers rods. As i said the specimen lake is quite small. I wouldn't be happy if someone was fishing in my swim and wiped out all my rods because they didn't stick to the rules. I spoke to you and i was of the opinion that you enjoyed your time there. You even said you would come back. So i'm shocked and surprised that you felt it was necessary to insult Tim because he had to approach you about the rules. The rules are there for everyone. Tim has to look after all his customers and also his specimen carp. This is what makes the fishing at Rookley Country Park so good. My wife and I feel safe there and will definitely be going back.

Nice new shop. Cool tank in the counter. Purchased a few Drennan bits and some sonubaits pellet etc for my mainland river adventures. All reasonably priced will return soon.

I've used Tim's tackle for a while now I started when it was at rookley and continue to use it now its moved, always helpfull and a great selection of stock, cant fault the service if what I'm after is not in tim is happy to get it for me and very quickly.

Loved fishing rookley when tim was there had some quality fish.Shop was always well stocked and now he has moved into Newport the new shop is bigger and better.Shop staff always polite and up for a chin wag and Tim himself always helpful and after being in the business for over 20 years certainly knows carp and carp fishing.Highly recommend a visit to Tims bait and tackle if you are on the island for all your carpy needs.
