There is a wide range of tackle available. There's different areas for the different types of fishing and staff are on hand to help. Got what I went for and a few other pieces at a good price. It's nice to be able to see what you want before buying.

Fantastic they could not off done enough for me and my daughter they took time explaining things and did not try and sell me the dearest rod or reel they had this is my number one shop. Got to say the staff really took there time with daughter and helped her angling direct should be proud to have the staff they have there at the Preston shop

Pretty standard angling direct , decent range of tackle across the board. Nothing special price wise. My only real negative is its clearly understaffed with at one point only one customer let in the shop and on another occasion my father in law left his purchases and left the shop as he was stood waiting to get served while the staff flirted with a guy wanting to buy a barrow maybe they were prioritising a higher value purchase??....maybe not?

Didn't really seem to have many fishing rods and was hard to see what they did have as the ceiling is extremely low. All the reels were behind the counter or behind glass so hard to look at in contrast to say go outdoors. Was very busy and didn't really get any help with selecting things, although they seemed to be enjoying their pies. Went hoping to get myself a good quality barbel rod and a 4000 reel and a special offer of a small rod for my daughter but couldn't because she was staying over at her Dads for the night. Bought a couple of bits and bobs, turned out pretty expensive and they charged me 20p for a PAPER bag without asking. Seemed like a loud outgoing group of blokes. Probably handy if you are local but not to travel 40 minutes to visit.

I would like to thank Angling Direct in Preston, especially Adam but also the rest of the team. They were friendly, knowledgeable & spent a lot of time introducing me to a new fly outfit. Unfortunately on using the outfit for the first time, there was an issue with the tip piece of the rod. I returned it to the shop, again Adam and the staff could not have been more helpful. Within a week, I had a call to say there was a replacement tip waiting for me. Well done for keen pricing and excellent customer service. Will certainly recommend.

Ex Ted Carter's of Preston and now Angling Direct the shop has lost none of its old charm, from what I saw, the staff were very busy helping people choose what they needed, and the ones that I spoke to were very helpful. The shop is incredibly well stocked and if you can't find what you're looking for here I'd be astounded.

A large shop with plenty of tackle on view, not the best prices, especially the essentials, but for larger items it's possible to get a good deal if you haggle. Parking can be a nightmare, with only about four spaces outside the shop, if taken - it's a long walk! An update on the post since Angling direct took it over - layout pretty much the same - still the same friendly staff with one or two new faces, but the biggest change is the addition of the free car park next door for about 15 or more cars - which is great but non customers were taking all the spaces up last time I visited!

This a well established angling store. It has something for types of anglers. It has now become part of the Angling Direct empire. As yet the same level of service as seen as Ted Carter has not been lost. I lost a section of my margin pole they spent several days in trying to find a replacement but unfortunately they could not but could supply a full replacement if I wanted it. Many thanks.

With the prices being so low I initially thought there was something fishy going on, however I spoke to Rod in store who was able to set my mind at ease tackle any questions I've haddock. Although I suppose they will give you any line when they're angling for a sale. I initially went on their website to buy a gift for a friend, but I must admit I was a little shellfish and ended up getting myself something, what can I say...I'm hooked. Highly recommended, but I suppose you have to sea for yourself.
