I. M.As a local independent researcher, being able to use the university library is very helpful as it gives be access to books that I would otherwise have to buy.
It is also a good place to work, being quiet and having a variety of workspaces available.
There are still some Covid19 precautions in place and I could choose to wear a mask.
There is a cafe and plenty of toilets.
K. R.Went to the open day on 30th Oct. It was a well organised event. We were treated to a speech by a professor in the Law building (which was designed by Alfred Waterhouse) and a mini lesson. The lesson could have been a bit more entertaining & engaging but it waa informative. We liked Reading Uni and I believe my daughter will apply to study there.
S. T.Right now, before term starts, its the best cafe on campus. They all sell pretty much the same stuff but the seating, inside and outside, is pretty good. If that kind of thing matters to you.
However it'll be busy when term starts so maybe this review will be outdated by then. But enjoy it while you can.
The square has no shortage of cafes, by the way, everybody can find somewhere to sit down and have a coffee, from the most disorientated fresher to the vice chancellor.

Everything is very well organised to minimise risk in Covid times - from the online booking system for study spaces to the one way systems in place.
