Brilliant range of books and book related gifts for all ages. Downstairs is a big children's section as well as large cookery book area.

Tucked near the stairs of west quay. Waterstones has its own mini cafe. Such a perfect place to hang out when you wanna star reading on the new book you have got while having some coffee or tea with pastries. We sat outside and the wind was very lovely as our drinks helped us warm up. Looking at people pass by and just breathing in some fresh air while chatting with your loved ones and having some refteshments. :)

A lovely store in West Quay spread across 2 floors that means it has a lot of stock to go through. The store is inviting and clean with plenty of staff around ready to support. I haven't personally asked for help but have watched them help other customers and they know pretty much instantly where a product is which is impressive to me. Overall, a pleasant store to visit

Spacious, an easy layout with genres sectioned together. Kids/teens&young adults are downstairs with hobbies and most others are upstairs. Decent range of books on sale daily. A beautiful little cafe downstairs which sits outside onto the westquay bottom. Loveee the character teddies they sell with the stories!

Always love shopping in here, but must say very disappointed in the lack of audio books for children and adults. There are some disabilities that require audio input. To be able to buy a gift of an audio book or to be able to browse in a bookshop for them like you use to would be lovely.

It's bound to feel weird returning to one of your favourite bookshops after 18 months, so I took my time browsing, was impressed by all the new titles and Covid measures, and was served by a nice man at the counter. I love bookshops, and this is a good one. Varied stock, knowledgeable and helpful staff that make you feel welcome, it's own coffee shop, but two others nearby. Handwritten descriptions of some titles. Yes it's a chain, but its a real shop, you can pick up the books read the jacket, read the fly leaves, ask for advice, it's just better than buying online. Great stuff.

Pretty much the same as most Waterstones bookshops nationwide. Well run with a good selection of popular books, fact and fiction. Staff are invariably friendly and helpful. The coffee shop is is well run and pleasantly situated, by Southampton's medieval fortifications.

The book selection in this store is immense. It seems a large store on entering, but then I discovered the second level downstairs (or even better - "down escalator" !!) with snack bar!! With superb, polite, knowledgeable and friendly staff, I could have stayed forever! If they would add a couple of bedrooms, I might go there for my holidays!!

I think this is one of the best bookshops around. Is large enough to have a good stock from a wide selection of genres and the staff have always seemed very knowledgeable and helpful. The addition of the Cafe W downstairs just tops it off. This is a really good little cafe with good quality coffee and light bite food. Overall, i could happily spend hours browsing and drinking coffee here!

Don't be fooled by the fact that this bookstore is in a shopping mall. While it may seem like just a tiny place when you go in, venture further inside and a whole new world will open up for you. Books on all imaginable topics, from fiction to science to life improvement, two floors, plenty of chairs to sit and gave a quick browse before buying. It's really midway between a bookstore and a library. Pleasantly surprised.

Very pleasant store to be in. Modern, large and bright with two levels. I believe there was a café pre-COVID but unsure if they are running it now/will be running it in the future. Either way, it's a really lovely Waterstones branch and has excellent staff who are extremely helpful and friendly. Multiple exits and entrances help with managing the flow of people.

This is definitely a great place if you want more of a relaxed environment and maybe spend a little time reading a good book. The counter is a little small so if you are getting a bunch of stuff like our group did it was a little difficult. The drinks were fabulous, the staff were helpful and friendly but I think they could use a little more selection on food/drinks.

My favourite chain for everything to read, from books to graphic novels to manga and guides. Literally 99% of my volumes come from Watwrstones. The staff is always very helpful and patient, and I love to have such a large one near home. Their system for points collecting and remote ordering never fails to make it easier. Cute cafe as well.

Wonderful sellection of jellycat teddies, also books if you're into that. There's a good selection of English language manga and some family friendly board games. Plus there's a nice quaint café to enjoy your new book.

Great staff, great selection and a coffee shop downstairs to use while you read. Cant really say more than that but I have been using this Waterstones ever since the old one burnt down. If I could highlight a specific employee though I'd mention the guy who works in the Sci Fi and Fantasy section. I believe he is called Robin but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway he is 100% an asset of Waterstones. My loyalty to Waterstones as a bookseller has less to do with the store and more to do with me coming to see him for a chat every few months. Really nice guy and from what I can tell he's not the only one who works there.

Plenty of options available from sci-fi to true life crime etc etc something for everyone! Clean and tidy, disabled friendly and not to busy! I understand that West Quay is open till midnight because of the lost days of shopping! Face mask wherever you go, and follow the rules as there are covid Marshalls around...they are wearing blue high visable vests 👌there on it!! Plenty of shops to walk around and nab a bargain too! Is this place newly-built or just refurbished? I have no idea, but it is one of Waterstones's new design stores. It looks great! We didn't have a detailed look around the ground floor as we headed down the escalators to the children's books in the basement. There's a small wooden climbing frame for those whose attention isn't held by books for too long. The selection of books is good, and the cafe down here looks amazing: definitely their best yet. There's booths, and the chairs and tables are tip-top. There's free WiFi here (3 down, 0.2 up) but it's a slower than average.

Waterstones itself in Southampton is good apart from the coffee shop. I can't fault the coffee but they need more staff at peak times. No staff to clean tables or assist with putting crockery in the dishwasher. Also the wifi is almost non existant which is aa shame in a city.

sainsbury's does have a wide selection of goods. What is disturbing though is that fruit and veg are often in pre packed plastic bags. Also when I went for chicken fillets again everything was in pre packed plastic containers. I try very hard to shop with the environment in mind but sauces, washing liquid etc again is all in plastic containers. Plastic is not biodegradable and will still be here in 50 years time!
