Reviews of Les Oakes and Sons Architectual Reclamation Yard
H. M.
Fab reclamation yard, all your usual stuff plus some amazing finds. Well worth a visit just to admire the buildings and you never know you might just find that special item.
l. m.
Amazing place very helpfull people. Just make sure you ring them before you turn up as it's a big place
H. F. Y.
This is such an impressive area! You will just be amazed with everything around it. And when you buy some old stuff just cross the road and have a nice walk at hales hall caravan park. They have a lovely old pub and beautiful pond with swans there.

A lack of any signage had us wandering around trying to find the auction rooms. We were not sure what was for sale or what was junk as we didn't see anyone to ask, just rooms and buildings of weird stuff and the buildings are weird too, put me in mind of an abandoned asylum. Once we did find the auction rooms they were full of the usual job lots and also some more interesting lots. An outside canteen and toilets allows you to have more time to browse and would be a useful on the auction day. Update, the owners responded to my review which is not a criticism as we intend to return. Fascinating place.
T. B.
What a fabulous place - took me a while to understand it - but full of a amazing old things and mad buildings.
R. C.
Amazing eclectic place, well worth a visit and wander round.

Reclamation yard. Fantastic place. Worth a visit. It’s growing from strength to strength. Lads very helpful. Located near Alton Towers.
R. J.
What a fantastic place to visit. Look out for their auction days.

A bit dissapointed, with my visit, here, wanted a small ornament for the garden, and couldn't find anything to fit the bill, hadn't been for a while and the stock seemed a bit short, if it's wood you're after, plenty of choice buf smaller items seemed a bit thin on the ground
J. P.
What an eclectic place. Auction day is great and pre-viewing well catered for. Well run by staff, usable toilets and a brew for £1. Will happily be going back.

Ive never been more astonished in my life. This place is really incredible. Aladins cave does not begin to give this place justice. It has everything from beautiful old solid wood tables, telephone boxes, beautiful doors, furniture galore to belive it or not aircraft radar. The buildings they are housed in are really impressive. Clearly the owner has a passion for all things beautiful. Plan to spend a good few hours there.

As previous post - weren't sure where we could go and couldn't go either. We did see someone who said we could just have a wander around but several doors had no entry signs. Some of the doors we did go through led to crammed rooms with very little access and no lighting - one building so dark that we couldn't see where we were going let alone what items were in there. A bit disappointing as I'm sure we barely scratched the surface of the items available.

Love the place but with illness I have to leave early but next time IL stop later hope to spend some money
B. S.
Plenty of bargains to be had. Gets very busy plenty of fur and feather on the day easy to pay and cash out. .usual dealers here for cage birds but you can still bag a bargain. ..very very popular.

I've been to Les Takes many many times and it's great to find a rare Item that can be cleaned up and make it look like a Brand New Item, which is Great for Using the Particular Item as a Center Piece in your House!! But Best of all is Saterdays when they have a number of Auctions Going on at the same time!! I've been able to get some absolute Bargains here!! So after I've Restored the Item, I can sell it Online at a Price which is far more than what I had Paid for it!! So if you Love Auctions this is a great Place to Go and get some amazing Bargains!!!
J. H.
Great place to go interesting will open your eyes can be a great day out if you like what he has for sale
A. H.
A fascinating place to wander around. Lots of furniture, old machinery, masonry etc. Everything you would expect to see in a reclamation yard. However it's sad to see so many things left to go to wrack and ruin hidden away in inaccessible barns with no lighting or any nod to health and safety. It does have an air of being rundown compared to what it was years ago. However, Les Oakes building are a landmark for miles around so long may it continue.

Always something unusual to buy. The staff are fantastic. A great day out. Can also buy fresh meat from the butchers stall.. amongst other goodies. I would recommed anyone to go and try .

Great place for a rummage, wear flat shoes and sensible attire and take a torch!
S. L.
Brilliant place to find some old treasures. Bit more expensive than I would have liked for some ruined / old furniture which i would need to do up but would be great pieces when done. Great place to visit
T. C.
Very interesting but we definitely need to return when it's not throwing it down with rain.
C. j.
Its a great place full of the greatest and strangest antiques . Theres some real gems here and also hard to find old building materials
J. P.
Les Oakes is not open on Sundays. But a good place to pick up loads of curious artefacts
G. W.
Some great furniture but the rest of the place has gone downhill and is not the treasure trove it once was - a lot of the buildings are very run down
B. M.
.Great place to Visit, with lots of interesting things to look out for with its historic collection of various goods. This is the place to get your Oak barrel or planter
