Reviews of Haymarket Shopping Centre
P. I. P.
Market place is having high number productivity ,every business place is occupied.Beautiful location.
J. D.
Visited to use the car park due to mobility issues whilst visiting the city. The car park had improved from my last visit 2 years ago. Many of the shops have closed and the the escalator was out of action. The lifts are small so social distancing is difficult. This place is work in process so will monitor in next couple of months.
K. R.
Some good shops. Glad to see it getting busier. Good to see there is a finally a new cafe opened upstairs too
Next to primark. Handy b&m to get to and love the kids toy shop
L. C.
Such a nice alternative to the larger centre. A great selection of shops and well set out. Only taken a star off because of the car park being so tight!
H. M.
Considering it age, it still looks modern ish on the inside. Lots of more of the lower end shops, Primark, b&m just to name a few. The higher end shops tend to be in the Highcross. If it didn't have smooth red brick on the outside, it would definitely look better . I dont remember there being any toilets, but I maybe wrong. There is a car park and the entrance is via Belgrave roundabout and Belgrave gate. Look for the signs, otherwise you could end up getting a ticket for going in a bus lane or pedestrian area. The car park and shopping centre are both wheelchair friendly with escalators from the car park. We paid £2 for two hours on a Sunday for parking.
I hope this helps if your visiting the Haymarket or Leicester city centre.
Please rate my post 🙂
P. T.
Not been in the Haymarket for a long time so was very surprised to see a bm store went around with my partner as I'm in a wheelchair we spent over 50 pounds in there really enjoyed the place then went into premier man and spent over 80 pounds in there but was very hard work for my partner to get me around things to close together to get a wheelchair around but otherwise was very enjoyable.
s. m.
Range of shops with parking above them.
E. T.
Highcross Shopping Centre across the road has got all the glitz and glamour. Its where the young and the affluent go. The Haymarket however is showing its age. Its where the poor and downtrodden go, like me.
r. R.
Only walked through it to use the car park.
Car Park entrances were all locked when we returned for our cars at about 5.30pm on a Sunday evening. No signs anywhere.Tried each of the stair wells. Us and about 30 other people had to go up the car ramp to reach our cars. Wasn't impressed. Too unsafe when you have children with you.
People still going up to use the car park too.
J.
Great shopping centre everything you are looking for and so many shops don't have to walk far and bus station just near by the shopping centre
V. H.
Really enjoyed the array of different shops. Good family shopping experience
M. D. F.
Large variety of stores providing most of the things you'd need. It doesn't look fantastic, but that can be overlooked with the amount of stores it has, and the nice atmosphere it has as well, and it's kept quite clean. Overall, do recommend having a look around.
M. R.
Still a great shopping centre. Very clean and plenty to see. Plenty of places to eat too.
T. E.
This is the oldest shopping centre in Leicester City, out of 2. The Centre of the shopping centre is pretty normal, the usual suspects- Poundland, Gregg's and Rymans. But dare to venture into the oddly darkened corners of this magnificent place and the real gems will be found.
K. K.
Still same old needs a facelift. It's old and outdated. Most shops have closed down leave empty spaces. Although great place to park the car with low parking tariffs.
N. P. 2.
Have to say the only good thing I found in here is tk max. Slightly underwhelmed but there is a nice bubble tea shop which is a nice surprise.
R. P.
Very dated now but the car parking is cheap enough, the lifts still work and there's plenty of shops in the vicinity if not in the shopping centre itself.
T. C.
I have lived in Leicester most of my life i have seen so many changes in the haymarket over the years. Shops opening and closing down new onces open up. I have met so many people in the haymarket family and friends also complete strangers which is nice those people who i don't know want to start a conversation which makes Leicester a friendly place and a nice atmosphere overall. Thankyou Leicester.
O. A.
This is a smaller shopping center compared to highcross which is nearby. It has some great basic stores. I found a bag store which stock some nice items with great deals. Unfortunately, the escalator has been broken for a while and it is yet to be fixed.
H. B.
Walked through the Hay market shopping centre yesterday, I noticed at least 3 cleaners with wide mops, well done for keeping the place clean.🌟
L. T.
Very quiet today. Lots of empty shops. Was able to purchase what I wanted at a good price
R. L.
Always nice and clean.
But as with lots of Shopping Centres has a fair few empty shops.
Still worth a visit.
s. g.
Not bad for someone who wants to spend time looking at things but my 3 year old wasn't too interested in anything after the animals. Spent more time in the cafe than the museum but worth it if she was a little older and interested in things
H. (.
It's ok. Could do with better toilets and better baby changing facilities. A nice cafe with toilets would be good.
C. E.
Great selection of stores no issues
A. T.
Useful and can still find most of what your looking for but obviously not as modern or accessible as the modern big centres
K. P.
Was enjoyable stickers being removed from floor regarding social distancing...feeling off normality returning
M. E.
really nice shopping center lots of shops to look for
S. b.
some good shops and the staff are friendly but the toilets aren't accessible/unclean
R. W.
I didn't buy much as I had already got my hands full but you can get everything you want from Leicester
R. R.
I went here usually nice place for shopping. You will get everything in this market like clothes ,vegetable ,fruits , jwellery everything is available for you.
t. m.
Getting dated but some good shops
i. k.
Nice shopping center all big brands shop hear
E. s.
The Haymarket Shopping Centre is a shopping centre in the city centre of Leicester, England. It opened on 4 June 1973 as the Haymarket Centre and is the oldest shopping mall in Great Britain. It is located east of and adjacent to the Clock .Situated in the heart of Leicester, Haymarket Shopping Centre has over 60 stores and food outlets to suit everyone's tastes.for parking : 38 Humberstone Gate Haymarket Shopping Centre Leicester, Leicestershire, LE1 3PH.
M.
Place looks quite good but should mention the bus station separately rather than considering in the shopping centre
E. D. B.
It's a good place for diverse shopping
B. b.
This market has shops like TK. MAX , Primark, Gregg's, The fragrance shop , B&M etc, it's busy most of the tine, no free customer parking or any off street parking as it's right in the middle of the city centre. It's not as good as Highcross Shopping centre interms of size and shops availablity.
C. B.
Only here overnight. Had a lovely time mainly window shopping. Would love to come back. Loved the architecture of the town. Shops were good too
K. Y.
Good place to visit and do shopping. Food is also available. I recommend.
D. L.
Lots of shops, some large chain type and other more local smaller businesses, development and refurbishment taking place, chairs outside to sit on and watch the world pass by, also children's amusements and rides
G. C.
I have been coming to this shopping mall for years as it has a fabulous selection of stores which appeal to my age range. Admittedly, it not being the most attractive building from the outside howeverthis is due to its age. Toilets are up to standard also
d. f.
Disgusted with the gents toilets number 1 last few years keeps blocking now we have two more playing up.
r. m.
Covers your most shopping needs near central bus station. Atleast visit once.
D. E.
Very wet floors during wet day no extra runner mats at doors take care when visiting during bad weather season
S. H.
Again plenty of choice and even though it was busy there was still room to move
e. f.
Cheap and cheerful shops. Clean. Excellent security staff making the centre safe for vulnerable people with learning disabilities.
A. W.
A good range of shops convenient for bus services
S. k.
Shops all fine, however parking is a nightmare since barriers were put in 27 mins between paying and getting out of the car park with the queues. Always used haymarket parking, will be changing from now on..ok if you have half hour spare.
S. U. U. C. S. (. C.
Oh goodness gracious... lots of shops with nice service running on the go....
B. M.
Nice place but the shops are limited
S. S.
Not the same as London shopping centre! Overall plenty of shops to choose from.
S. L.
Bit disappointing really. People aren't sticking to the social distancing and not keeping to the left of barriers / walkways. However, people are wearing masks. Primark very good that they have a one way in, one way out system in place and someone on the door monitoring the amount of people are going into the store using a "clicker". TK Max good too. Again they're monitoring the amount of people that go in store.
M. A. C.
Great day out with family
P. B.
Been there forever and could do with a few more shops but otherwise great
B. H.
A lovely shopping centre with lots of great shops to choose from. Lots of free parking there is Wi-Fi there are McDonald's there are Primark there are TK Maxx there are boots there are all your usual fashion shops as even are lies Debenhams but it's always worth checking that opening hours before you go because of kovid things have changed. All in all this is a very nice shopping centre I recommend coming here on a day out for all your shopping needs a supermarket like Tesco's and Sainsbury's also
N. D.
Always feel glad to shop here for the past 42 years.
M. L.
Fantastic place. Great stores for shopping. Please don't take this wrong. But Colour people are not walking on the Left hand side of the Tapes it should be watched be members of security. Thankyou Mr LAW
s. b.
Good place where u can find loads of shops and cafes
J. T.
Got what I wanted in and out in no time. G ood
N. G.
It's the Haymarket.... Once upon a time the gleaming jewel of Leicester shopping! Despite it having a face lift a while back it is the ugly sister to Highcross, but, the shops in there need your support just as much.....
s. n.
Clean but no shops worth coming in for now
J. H.
I didn't visit this place, I walked by it as I have done numerous times. But if you walk by a place. This thing says you have been there.. Ok it was 0630, so I couldn't get in.
a. g.
A small shopping centre but with some decent independent stores aswell as some big ones like primark
A. I. S. B.
Good place to visit for reasonable prices and variety products.
K. A.
Compulsory masks however it did not matter how it was worn. Wear it on your chin and you won't get asked to put it on.
Lift had 5 people in it. 3 households.
One way system worked Well.
L.
Clean place, good selection of shops. And right next to bus depo.
S. Z. K.
It needs more exciting mix of stores to lift the mood of this place. Major tenants are Primark, B&M, TK Maxx, Matalan, Travelodge. Consider adding more f&b options in locations like the empty H&M store and upstairs empty units.
R. C.
Not the best ok for shops like B&M and primark
A. A.
Pictures are from Primark
S. L.
Nice shops like Blue Banana, and many others - I do miss TK Maxx though!
F. P.
Best Place to hangout with friends, family everything is there.
P. C.
Small tight clean car park easy access to the haymarket shops has lifts and steps to ground floor middle floor leading to TK MAX AND Primark store and public toilets
s.
Very nice shopping centre. Good staff. Good prices.
M. B.
Very nice, clean and not many empty units
T. L.
I enjoy shopping around at Haymarket. .lots of luxury stores ..
V. M.
Overall good place if you need a bit of shopping, or need to buy clothing . There's a Tesco express which has daily fresh produce and across the road a paying car park .
A. E.
Not as big as it looked online but still good
A. K.
A bad place staff are really friendly and polite and and I cannot fault them with their coronavirus guidelines really helpful really friendly overall a really nice
s. e.
A very busy market plenty to see well worth the visit
N.
One of Leicester's oldest indoor shopping centre. Car parking is available and a few shops with access to Primark. Cafes are located outside of this car park. Great place for a quick shop on bargain buys.
J. C.
Lots of good shops especially not shop where l bought chestnuts.
R. N.
It,s Indian food restaurant , called nan kitchen, tasty spicy food with fresh nan bread.
P. R.
It’s a good shopping centre with a few stores where you can just get something quickly. Right in the centre with easy access
L. L.
Good variety of shops.Enjoyable visit.
A. B.
This place simply needs demolishing and starting again. Appreciate tk maxx and primark kind of make part of it. It overall its a terrible shopping centre totally over shadowed by high cross and its surroundings. Desperately needs a revamp.
S. Q.
Not much going on. Not really worth the visit
A. F.
Nice atmosphere plenty of shops
T. S.
Good place and also affordable place for one
O. B. P.
Lovely mall...
n. j.
Would be better if the shops on the upper level was open
O. B.
Got 90% of what i wanted for a Nigerian delicacy
S. F. P.
Some good shops available here but it's a shame that so many are empty, which makes the centre look somewhat neglected
H. D.
The first shopping mall in Leicester going back to 1973. Popular national retailers in Haymarket.
D. R.
This place just get better every year
A. G.
Good variety of shops, bins need to be kept less full
S. D.
Standard shopping centre design with 2 floors many high street favourites(Primark,TK Maxx,The Entertainer,Rymans to name a few) and no overpriced designer stores.few empty units..much like any UK city!
B. R.
I grew up in Leicester so still love the centre
A. S.
Some useful shops its just a shame it doesn't feel very welcoming and they allow pushy sales agents for various utilities to set up stalls inside.
s. B.
Its interesing cant find all products
C. G.
Neither a good or bad review, the hay market has always been in the shadow of the shires and now the highcross, it’s got the bare essentials but nothing to really grab you, possibly primark is the only stand out shop there, kind of says it all really.
A. D.
Simply stunning everything you need is under one roof a shopping experience you must not miss
K. S.
Parking is quite tight but decent for Leicester.
T. G.
Great range of shops and close to the bus station
K. K.
Interesting verity of shops. Needs more than a day to cover even if doing window shopping.
S. K.
Quite nice shops there, next to main bus station, lots of food place just few mins walk 😁
M. G.
It's a nice shopping mall but not as lovely as High Cross shopping centre. Inside the mall where you will find the local GUM clinic which is convenient for other neighbouring visitors. Interestingly, they have security walking around to make sure there's no antisocial behaviour.
Y. A.
Dated shopping centre. Still attracts shoppers.
R. M.
Smallish shopping centre but with a variety of shops, parking available as well
Y. S.
Not much to say, just a standard shopping centre.
A. M.
There is one way system for covid, but some don't follow.
And people not wearing face mask.
Overall a good shopping centre.
m. b.
Clean, lots of good stores great security too
R.
Great place has everything
L. T.
Always find what I want very easily
S. A.
Very dated. Seems more like local shops from the 80s. Car park confusing and very difficult to drive around as it's not designed for much above the mini.
i. c.
love it lots of shops to go to :)
B. A.
Wanna catch the shopping buzz? You know where to go
A. A.
I loved it, how experience overall. The blend of stores are god's, cheap and the pricey ones. There is plenty of choice for all kinds of people and religions too, men and women. I'm really pleased with the variety and I think it has everything most people would want. I would definitely recommend and will be returning again. Everything in one place, I couldn't ask for more really.
N. J.
I wish I could be positive about this place. But it is dated, the toilets are disgusting (stail urine and human waste) and the whole place could do with a new decor and better selection of shops. I only cut through to get to the bus. Seems to be in need of some urban regeneration.
D. L.
As a major shopping centre it's quite good. It's drawbacks is it's cold in some places and doesn't enforce mask wearing
A. K.
Nice and cheap items
i.
A bit of old and run down and with a god awful trsvelodge hotel makes it look even worse.
S.
Large range of shops differentiating from food shops to clothes to general items to electronics. The actual centre is kept clean with security guards standing around, generally keeping the atmosphere less roudy and safer. I come here a lot as a student who enjoys spending money!
R. B.
Ok shops but could be better
S. C.
Very good food I like the food
R. R.
Haymarket Shopping Centre has improved a lot and many shops have changed from past 2 decades. Compared to years a go toilets are much cleaner, the floor is also well looked after, you always find security guards around every floor - it makes it feel safer and they also keep everything tidy and safer for everyone. Their car park upstairs the way out needs better shaping in my opinion its far more riskier of car being damaged.
H. V.
Always love shopping here...brings excitement every time
J. P.
Not sure haven't been there in years
s. T.
Too crowded area
Multiple shops for various items.
Primark is also situated in there.
Better place for shopaholics...
M. R. K.
WOW! What a shoppers paradise. You need a good long weekend to see all. Plenty of different shopping available, but almost 100% of what you would want in one place. Loads of tasty eating possibilities too. Well worth a visit. Looking forward to a return trip.
T. K.
suitable prices and good quality
A. P.
Too many people not wearing face coverings .
M. P.
Clean, busy, it's okay for Leicester
M. A.
The shops with their numbers and variety are fine and you get good access to town centre, however, parking in the haymet itself remains terrible. The spaces are tight, it is often darkish and damp due to ongoing construction work limited to one floor only. The exit is very narrow and you would be lucky if you can avoid scratching your wheels on the way out of the car park
S. P.
A shopping experience not to be missed.
A range of shops for all shopping needs.
To buying some clothes to buying a range of perfumes and aftershaves for all.
To food shops for all your shopping needs.
Their is coffee shops to relax and have a cup of coffee at your leisure.
And phone shops to sort out your phone needs.
And also card shops for that birthday need or more.
And they do have toilets for both male and female and nappy changing facilities.
M. W.
Okay shopping experience. Stores have covid measures in place. Very few people adhering to them.
S. K.
Excellent to come see my home town after 3 years :)
J.
It's alright. It's basically the few shops highcross doesn't have. Not very pretty place but good shops
G. B.
Only go in here for greggs ,,,, no place the same for a latte
R. K.
A good choice of shops and eating places. A lot of free activities for children to use.
Fully wheelchair accessible but it's a pity the accessible toilets are not locked with RADAR keys as they get used for baby changing and children's toilets despite there being no facilities in them for that and there are huge family rooms with all the necessary equipment just next to them however the signage isn't always clear. People also use the accessible toilets to try on new clothes so often there is an unnecessary wait for the facilities for those who need them.
S. P.
Nice shops and entertainment for the kids
T. W.
Traditional. Popular. Particularly now with the inclusion of Mataland. Provides a good mix of social needs. Could do with more seating. Could be seen as a cultural and economic divide, to that of Highcross. Which would be a pity, as it has a warmth and wears it's heart on it's sleeve.
M. M.
This place has improved so much. The shops have a decent variety of bargains. Upstairs still needs work since the cafe shut down. It's a huge portion of the market that's a sitting dormant ghost town
F. W.
Still quiet but lots of officials around. Too many people not wearing masks but that's not the Haymarket's fault.
J. S.
It's ok but run down
J. P.
It's good reasonable price all brand products are there and cheap price .
D. J.
Looking a little tired now but still plenty of good shops inside, car parking within the centre but again looking dated and spaces for the modern car are small.it is however central to the city of leicesters town centre making it easy to visit other shops bars and entertainment within the vicinity. Lifts lead direct to the car park so easy to get to.
A. J.
I found everything what I wanted for my son's birthday party, also not big ques. Very good. Thanks.
B. F.
The shopping centre is not the prettiest place, but it has an excellent selection of stores. There really is great shopping here in Leicester, and the Haymarket is one of the best shopping centres in Leicester. I get a sense that this shopping centre wants to get you in and out. There are no benches, play areas, or pianos like the other shopping centre. I prefer the modernist and comfy Highcross
K. K.
Kostandino kremmos I will not be able to make the transfer today
S. H.
Very tired looking inside and out. Nothing special.
K. C.
A little tired but featuring a greggs so a winner.
S.
Decent shopping centre a lot of variety over all a nice day out, plus the Haymarket bus station is literally next to it and there is also a little place next to that, that sells hot food bonus!
J. B.
Loads of good indoor shops.
M. K.
Many shops are in the shopping center.
Primark, Tesco express, etc
A.
Nice shopping centre. Most shops were too expensive for myself but there were a couple of shops that I'd visit again.
D. F.
Don't very often go town, don't need to,as we have Fosse park.
M. T.
Considering its claim to be Britain's oldest shopping mall, it is ok. Good selection of shops but perhaps when originally planned it didn't cater for quite as many cars as it now needs to do? But having said that it works.
k. c.
One way system in operation, all clearly marked out. Looking forward to going again when all is back to some form of normality.
c. “. m.
Its a great place, I just think the could do more with the space
A. &. R. S.
Small shopping complex with its own car park on the roof. Has quite a few ladies fashion wear shops. decent toilets which are cleaned regularly. Has a big Primark over a number of floors. Not many food places. Few coffee shops.
T. D.
Great shops and coffee. The entertainer had Amazon beating prices this week! It is the smaller and older of Leicester's shopping centres, but worth a visit. More functional shops than fashion.
S. K.
Got most things in there
G. C.
Very tidy and organised covid aware all shops with sanitiser easy access good
M. S.
The place could really do with a face lift, it looks tired and outdated now......
K. K.
Its very nice place to shopping...I love it
L. M.
Very busy. Not a regular visitor, although I was a frequent shopper many years ago. I found it frustrating trying to find my way around. Sad to see that Bon Marche has now gone. I found the whole Leicester shopping experience difficult.
L. T.
This compact mall gives access to several large and well known retailers, plus a number of smaller shops, kiosks, and a supermarket.
P. S.
Really nice and clean with a good selection of shops, and alot of visible security so you can shop safely, a good addition to Leicester city centre
M. D.
Good range of shope
B. R.
A one stop market where most items of daily needs can be purchased. Apart from food and beverages, there are shops that sell clothes and other products.
What I would have loved would have been free WiFi that actually connected easily. Sadly that’s not the case.
Shops that retail stationery would have been another added bonus but that doesn’t mean that this market isn’t upscale.
The toilets are relatively clean but too few and far between, if you understand my drift.
A great market in an equally great city - Leicester.
N. D.
Great place to shop.
S. M.
Nice range of shops and eateries. Could do with more public seating for those of us who can not walk to far without sitting down for a rest. For the elderly too, would be a good idea.
j. s.
A good place to shop.
K. S.
One.of the oldest shopping centres in Leicester which has been renovated and become more busy.
R. D.
Something for most people, good variety of stores & independent stalls on Isle central areas
J. C.
This was once a very good place to shop. A nice selection of shops in but a few of them have closed. So a out half a dozen empty shops I only use it now as a short cut to stay out the rain.
N. P.
Decent centre with many shops. Place is clean and usually well decorated during the festive period. There is a large parking structure connected to the centre, however it isn't particularly cheap. The place has been there for many years and it is showing its ages. Whilst they have tried to modernise some aspects of it, it still remains a building that is showing its ages, especially when comparing it to the Highcross. However on the plus side it usually isn't as busy as HC.
R. L.
There a variety of shops but you can get them majority of places you go so for that reason it's rated that low but there is some Bargin shoes shops and female clothes and mens shoes at reasonable prices and the beauty cosmetic it has a variety of hair products to purchase for all ethnic background
C. K.
Fairly busy for a Sunday so looked like Christmas shopping is gathering pace. The car park a bit dingy but the prices are among the best. Good shops too and just next to the central bus station. Worth a visit.
H. g. b.
A few nice shops in haymarket but toilet facility not so good.
C. A.
Honestly the place is a shop and go stop. You're either going to shop or not bother entering. However, the environment is clean and well kept. My best stop is primark and I never miss entering primark every single time I'm there
R. A.
I only park here and 1 other place when I come to town. I love the car park and the variety of shops in the mall.is fantastic. The only down point is the doors to the car park from level.two very heavy at times.
D. S.
Very small but has all the shops you'll need in it!
Leicester town as a big variety of shops in and has a big shipping center as well called high cross with again lots of different shops, some high end branding clothing shops and loads of food stalls!
Good for Christmas shopping or just simply a day out
J. W.
Typical small shopping centre with multiple different stores inside with toilet facilities on the upper level along with on the go food options such as Greggs and I'm wondering a couple of small convenience store Style places to grab something quick a bottle of water maybe or something to eat most places reasonably priced and if assistance is required for whatever reason there are several members of staff and a helpdesk which has recently been installed for further assistance
C. L.
great place to shop with a range of shops which are good for the whole family. The Haymarket also has a car park with loads of parking available but the car park is tight to get around, not great if you aren't a confident driver. The Haymarket has a few eateries and coffee shops and is close to the bus station
J. S.
Some good shops not very disabled friendly with doors opening the wrong way to do your self from a chair or scooter. The exit is tight and can cause damage to your vehicle. Free for disabled parking Blue badge holders.
A. J.
Great little shopping centre!
h. g.
Parking price has gone up to £3 for 2 hours, but other than that great!
A. G.
Very central. The car park is dim and dated with poor signage. Pay & display car park, so you have to keep an eye on the time and rush back before the time expires.
The shopping centre has a limited number of shops. Nearby High Cross shopping centre is better, and within walking distance.
h. s.
Good selection of shops
C. S.
All typical shops my daughter loves the Entertainer toy shop and there are public toilets available.
E. W.
Excellent & helpful shops
R. P.
The Haymarket may not look like much, but it packs a varied selection of stores for everyone, the staff are really friendly and the security and cleaning teams are always happy to help by pointing you in the right direction or taking you to were you need to go.
I like it better than the Highcross, everyone there has a chip on their shoulder.
N. A.
The Haymarket Shopping Centre has a large range of shops.
There are a number of coffee shops, news agents, stationary/office supplies, card shops, butchers, jewellery shops, clothes/fashion shops, mobile phone accessories/repairs etc. There are a couple of free to use cash machines which is quite handy.
The central plaza also has a few kiosks/stands. There are 4 entrances/exits to the shopping centre - so it's easy to access from any direction when you are in the city centre.
W. D.
Perhaps because it was a Saturday I found it to be very crowded and the shops basically the same as I have at home. The parking wasn't brilliant either. The carpark has work being done and it's very narrow. Obviously built when cars were smaller.
Y. A.
Normal shopping here during the Covid season. Inside not many wearing masks. Must be Exempt??!!
Y. A. A.
Bcoz of lockdown..majority of shops are closed so feels deserted..but if all shops are open then surely one can find mostly anything depending what one wants and which stores to go to..
G. T.
Haymarket Theatre watching The Mousetrap. I enjoyed this play, which I'd seen about 50 years ago! It was well acted, but it did feel dated. Glad I went to see it, though.
G.
Has what you need, but mainly filled with smaller versions of the shops, right next to a bus station so it's convenient.
S. W.
First time in town since lock down although they say keep to left a lot did not quite busy
A. S.
Good place to visit. Especially if it is raining. Some decent stores Inside. Clean, public restrooms ideal when you have small kids. Primark is ok there but lifts are very slow. The good old Poundland closed which was ok. Also good place for a short cut to the other side of town near argos if coming from Primark side. Cash points as well. So great .
D. C. l. U. K.
Good overall selection of shops and there seems to be a high presence of security around in the shopping centre which makes you feel safe and makes you feel that there are people there to help support you for necessary although the car parking can get very busy on certain days it is relatively convenient to be able to park your car there and walk straight into the shopping centre and is not particularly expensive either so it's quite reasonable to park in the Shopping Centre car park I would recommend going there although there are no food shops we can do your grocery shopping in there but maybe with the Tesco's at the end of the corridor but it is trifle expensive
G. T. K.
The fish i bought was very fresh n nice
s. w.
It's ok it has lost s lot of variety over the years but still good for certain items always seems dark and messy in side but I think that's more to do with the lights rather than hygiene
ب. ط. ا.
Very beautiful and great atmosphere
thanks to them
C. S.
Parking is dear, but you can walk to John Lewis completely undercover, with two floors of shops to keep you occupied. It's big!
You can leave on foot straight into the town centre and the market place there is a large pedestrianised area with plenty of access for the disabled, good park and ride scheme too.
g. r. (.
Great place to shop lots of things to purchase all under one roof
M. E.
I go to a fantastic shop here which specialises in dried fruit and nuts. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly. The toilets in the centre are always clean.
S. I.
The cheaper shopping centre with budget shops and one higher end stationers. There is also a newsagents and mineybexchnage place which many find useful. General atmosphere is... Well it's missing. You go in get stuff and leave. Security stop lingering unless you're on the few benches and there's only one stop and eat cafe now but I've had my purse stolen in there so won't go back.
Great for budget/quick shopping rather than a 'shopping day'
S.
It's kind of dreary in the Haymarket shopping centre compared to nicer areas in the town centre and obviously The Highcross.
R. W.
The Haymarket was Leicester premier shopping centre before the 90s when the, now, Highcross was built. It has had a few internal facelifts and is clean with value shops rather than the premium stores. There are some obvious pros and cons here. It is spacious well lit and nicely laid out. Parking is above and the cost is reasonable value next to other city centre locations. Toilets are clean if a little old. If you want value stores and an easy shopping experience it is good. There is a good mixture of shops and noteably lots of clothing stores including a large Primark. However you will need to put up with the awful car parking entrance. The poorly lit and sign posted lower parking level is awkward to say the least. Once you have found and navigated your car to the rooftop level things are improved. The pay and display payment system is also outmoded. The exit has been made slightly easer by the cars that have clipped the concrete posts making the exit slightly wider.
I can't ever see the centre restoring any of its former glory with retailers wanting to move their outlets back into the empty units with this car parking handicap. This spacious and stylish centre deserves better.
M. H.
Good shopping area leith variety of shops and cafes
I. W.
Hideous red shiny brick structure typical of City planners from the 70's. It has had a fairly recent makeover inside but certainly not the best shopping centre in the region. It is now very much in the shadow of the newer, bigger and much more pleasant High Cross 5 minutes walk away.
The Haymarket Theatre which forms part of it is reopening which wil hopefully l breath a bit more life back into it.
s. c.
Very quiet with covid restrictions. Not much open but very clean with sanitizer station near escelator.
G. H.
There are some great shops in here, if your looking for reasonably priced clothes there are several places to choose, a toy shop for all ages. It's worth a visit as there are variety of shops. Multi storey car park & bus station adjacent.
M. M.
This place has not evolved much but time and again, it kind of makes you feel at ease whenever you are doing your shopping rounds or taking a leisure stroll around just to unwind. The coffe shops and a few big brand name shops like TK MAXX make it worthwhile visit. It is another establishment in Leicester worth a visit. 👍👍👍
S. S.
Nice clean shopping centre and a good variety of shops a excellent cafe.
B. C.
Not as good as highcross
D. S.
Great clean place
N. L.
Has some good shops inside including Holland and Barrett, Primark, T K Max, H and M, Warren James jewellers and many many more. Always clean and tidy has it's own car park upstairs. Easily accessible has lifts and stairs.
R. L.
Sadly Because of Covid most Shops are Closed.
But in normal times its nice place to use. 👿
T. a.
Decent amount of shops.
It has good parking space.(Its not free)
Also plenty of near by shops, parking can also be used for Highcross shopping centre...
A. P.
The Haymarket is older than Highcross shopping centre but still has some great shops and bargains to offer. The site is undergoing a facelift internally at the moment and promises to be a really nice place to shop when complete. It is fully open for business and there are some good fast food shops nearby. It is located close to the clock tower in the centre of Leicester.
T. S.
Very good place.
P. h.
The Car Park should have a disability code on the pay machine so we can scan our ticket and drive out instead of getting help via the intercom on the outward barrier and having to wait for someone, perhaps a blue badge scanner , it would speed up exits and save frustration of other drivers waiting in line to exit.
I. S.
Good place for shopping, haymarket car park is very good place.
J. P.
Great shops esp b/ m be good once they all open up again
A. W.
Can't say I like it but now and again it's nessesery the town its self is dirty lots of tramps in doorways but having said that there are some lovely places in the old parts of Leicester
K. G.
It's a good little shopping area and always has been. It's more affordable that it's oversize and over priced nabour.
The only reason I have given it 4 stars is because of its lack of bins, you have to hold on to your rubbish till you get outside.
p. v.
Prime Mark and pounds shops are I. HAYMARKET . Not places to sit except cafe and have drinks and food. Stalls selling mobile phone scarfes bags easy access for wheelchair users. Pay for parking available. Limited clothes shop.
J. L.
Under the circumstances, I feel that they are trying their best in terms of social distancing Unfortunately, there are some people that simply do not care.
A. R.
So nice place
T. T.
A variety of shops and goods, located in the city center, around there are many car parks and restaurants, cafes.
I recommend it 👍
P. B.
Shopping centre with usual high street brands
E.
You'll find a bit of everything and many stores to your convenience. Could have safer parking for bicycles.
R. A.
there's lots of great shops in here if you're in Leicester then this is certainly a good shopping centre to visit as I said lots of different shops and you're bound to find what you're after if not there's other shops nearby and it's indoors clean and tidy easy to get to feel so have parking here
J. S. S.
It's about time the toilet reopened
c. p.
Need more Art
T. L.
It's the oldest shopping mall in the UK. It was opened in June 1973 (following the disgracefully short-sighted decision made by Leicester City Council's planning department who approved the wholesale demolition and clearance of a large number of historic - and far more architecturally attractive - buildings which formerly occupied the space where the shopping centre now is) and is a piece of the "brutalist" type of architecture typical of this period. It has undergone periodic internal makeovers across the years but still shows signs of it's age.
It has been superseded in popularity for shoppers by the later Highcross (formerly called The Shires) shopping mall which is very close nearby but it plugs along despite having several first floor shop units unoccupied aided by having a lot of footfall through it to/from the adjacent Haymarket Bus Station which is on Charles Street, Leicester.
P. J.
Centrally placed next to the two primary bus stations, and next to the market Square. Good variety of shops, from the more classy clothes stores to more budgety does like primark and poundland. Good security presence. Very good games store.
J. G.
Works as an adequate little brother to Highcross, which is 40 or so feet away across the square. Primark is large and well stocked, greggs good too
K. S.
Haymarket still has some great stores and it's easy to pay a visit to any one of them as you're coming from/to the bus stop. The background music they play also creates a good environment.
J. V.
I used for my Parking. Inner Entrance at the site of parking machine is very narrow, otherwise very good option to visit mall and city center
D. S.
Good variety of shops. Always clean. Worth a visit
M. A.
A lot of empty units atm but good for clothes. And the entertainer is one of the few toy stores left in town. Toilets are big and clean at least.
E. K.
A lovely large shopping centre. Has amazing food (experienced: stonebaked pizza and aunt Annie's pretzel.) Just a generally great place to shop etc.
A. K.
it's just got all things I always need I can't wait to be able to sit for a meal
C. B.
Very nice mall with a lot of shops, such as Primark and Warren James. Good shops if you're on a budget. They also have a Rymans and a Greggs for students, and a couple of other fashion shops such as Moda. There are some toy stores for children and a phone case shop, as well as coffee shops and shoe shops (Shoes4U)
H. D.
Not enough seating benches on the ground floor for the elderly. Some people are discourteous and selfish by spreading their shopping or handbags on the bench meant for others to sit. Requesting them to move their things is met by reply "someone is coming". After 10 minutes that someone has still not arrived.
T. S.
Good outlets nice busy area of the city centre but the gents toilet on the upper floor absolutely disgusting not one of them flushing properly isn't somebody supposed to be looking after these places 👎😝
T. B.
Very nice market in Leicester.
B. P.
Used to be no 1 shopping centre in the past but other options make me score only 3 stars it is still a very popular place with a good variety of shops and eateries
v. n.
Good market to buy fresh farm vegetables and fruits at reasonable prices. Also near the main shopping center so easily accessible to all other facilities
A. T.
I have been going to the Haymarket Shopping Centre for many years. Great choice of shops. Poundland, Primark, Pickwick's Cafe, Toilets, Card shops, a Butchers, Entertainer toy shop, Peacocks, a Health food shop, Gregg's, Jewellery Shops, Shoe shop, TK Max, Stationary shop, Bag shop, Paper shop, more clothes shops, side stalls, Cash Dispensers and more. I love it.
A. K.
Great 👍
D. Z.
Lot of shops available, parking was/is under development and getting better, the shopping centre is in a great location for town centre you can easily get to High Cross shopping centre and all around town
I. Y.
Few hidden gems in here
K.
A decent choice of shops all undercover.
g. a.
Good quality goods for low prices
C. A.
Good choice of shops
N. N.
Good shopping center with many branded shops.
H. R.
Found out parking was free with my blue badge, which was a nice surprise.
S. T.
It's a 60's shopping centre that's partly recovered from a delapidated state. It's bland and soulless and not very inviting. Got useful shops though. A place to do your shopping and then leave. A bit like Leicester city centre in general
M. A.
Excellent location at the city center...
they have the cheapest car parking, and because of their central location I always park my car here and walk anywhere.
R. E.
Nice with plenty of shops, it has entrance to primark, tkmaxx, h&m, b&m and has coffee shops as well
N. W.
Good clean centre plenty of shops to visit
B. I.
Great place to park for cheap in the city centre. Also has Primark and Matalan if you want to shop on the cheap.
M. L.
A bit dated but at least there is a Primark and tk maxx, Matalan is opening their shortly, just outside a brii chippy outlet, hand cut Potatoes called Awesome potatoes, very tasty
j. w.
Getting old but still has its charm
G. J. J. D. N.
Good for shopping once you are there banks n othe shopping are walking distance
L. G.
Security Staff are always doing Great at there Job... As I go into there... I always feel safe! Shops are Great too! 😁
E. A. U.
It's OK. Not a vast amount of shops but still a nice selection. You couldn't spend a afternoon there but an hour or two yes.
M. W.
Just passing through to get to bus station
T. J.
Unfortunately this place has lost its shine due to the addition of the Highcross but it is still good for access to TK Maxx and Primark. Other smaller shops are available. Toilets are also available here.
S. S.
Nit great. Not terrible.
f. y.
It's ok few good shops
s. j.
Can be quite busy on a weekend but that is to be expected in a shopping centre. Great choice of shops ranging from the Disney store, to shoe stores, to bakeries and technology shops.
A. P.
If you want to remember old shopping centre used to be like then just look at the haymarket, does not have the big high street shops but worth having look around.
P. D.
There are many various types of shops there and that's very convenient
A. H.
I find the Haymarket Centre worn down and worn out. It has a mismatch of shops. Peacocks is closing down because of an issue with the landlord. I only walk through there on the way to the Bus Station. I think that the Bus Station has gave it more footfall but sadly it is the sign of the times.
S. T.
Some good shops in here but all very compact and not as spacious as new shopping centres. Car parking ok. Bit of a squeeze to get round corners in places.
B. G.
I like it a lot because you have almost all you need in there. Food, clothing, house items etc. Prices good, compared to vast majority of shops. Good quality
I. X.
Good shoping experience after long lockdown.
U. K.
Have everything you need and easy to get around.
J. J.
it's 'okay. has more of the 'every day' items you might want with the flagship store tk Maxx. If you live in Leicester city or surrounding areas I suspect this is a place to frequent often.
newsagent, butchers, bakers, some clothes shops.
its amusing, I remember this place was the place to go before the highcross was built.
it is of course the cut through to the newer bus station.
and I assume it is still the car park and entrance to the Haymarket Theatre, however I haven't been since the 'Curve'
A. S.
Lovely place to visit. It has access to some of the popular shopping spots like Primark and Greggs. Clean and tidy. Overall an amazing place to visit
L. C.
Very nice shopping centre
g. p.
Spacious and wonderful
I. M.
This shopping centre has been left in the dust of the new and huge Highcross and is in desperate need of a huge revamp.
Come on Leicester Council, get your act together and sort it out so that there's more people coming into the city centre.
Tip: Highcross car park is considerably cheaper than the Highcross!
N. G.
Great variety shop. If you like shopping then is not a bad place to be. Recommended!.
S. B.
Nice and clean staff helpful and friendly
Y. P.
An old shopping centre without the pizzazz of Highcross. A few closed down shops too but I suppose some pop ups can open for Christmas. I went with kids to Marvellous Chips located there. Not worth travelling for but worth a visit if in the area. There is a Primark, Greggs, Entertainer and few other shops there. Many are independents.
R. P.
Great place, now the shops are open its quite busy, nice shops even nicer prices
R. H.
Good range of shops for lower budget shoppers. Primark, T K Maxx. Peacocks, B & M to name just a few. Close to the town center and relatively cheap parking upstairs
V. L.
In many items in my Size 16 was hoping to find something.
For my first night out the girls this year. But most were gone.
M. S.
Just nice
S. C.
Some good shops. Mainly clothing , but also toys ,jewellery, cards and bags. All good shops.it will ve interesting to see what will replace the pound land.
A. H.
Great variety shop. If you like shopping then is not a bad place to be. Recommended!.
A. B.
A nice clean place for whole family shopping. But is mainly occupied by people who just occupy the benches & stay there for ages depriving genuine shoppers of a short sit down to sort their shopping etc
c. m.
I have never been a a fan of the Haymarket mainly full of tat shops and it has the feel of being scummy. It's been redone numerous times but it's not as nice as the highcross. I've lived in Leicester the majority of my life and alway s felt the same. I don't shop in the Haymarket at all.
C. K.
Excellent customer service
J. T.
Good variety of stores, I like to think of the Haymarket as more of a hub for passing through town, as I always seem to pass through whenever I visit the city centre, and with the new developed bus station next door, it's handy if you only want to grab a few peices and leave again
b. m.
Nice shopping 🛍 good quality items
P.
Nice place to shop with lots of choice. Clean and well laid out. Parking could be better though.
P. E.
Had a lovely time here
s. e.
All your low end shops under one roof. Added a star since they have B&m and Heron. Has toilets and a car park.
t. l.
I dnt know much but they have lots of stores close together which is brilliant
G. H.
Very good experience not a lot of shop's open went b and m got what I wanted
E. B.
Dated and empty unirs
S. G.
Very nice market, with all types of shops.. all 8n all good shopping complex..
m. t.
Its getting a bit old, the building has always been an eyesore. Decent amount of shops.
D. W.
Great variety of products all under one roof a one stop shopping extravaganza. Well worth a look
J. V.
Nice and clean shopping centre with a great parking facility.
H. L. (.
The Haymarket shopping centre is old and really needs modernising. The shop choice is limited. Primark is ok but very crowded. I much prefer the Highcross.
F. G.
best parking so far, and the regulars there have a culture of sharing unspent tickets which is very nice, I encourage you to do the same if leave before your ticket expires
D. m.
Looking a bit rundown compared to the rest of shopping malls go but I have good memories of when it was a new centre and was a buzzing arcade. Expectations are higher these days and it is a shame that it is sliding into obscurity
A. G.
Can't really make a comment as never really use shops in there much except b&m which is really good shop
J. S.
Went into primark which is one way in one way out was busy but not too busy
S. A.
Very neat and clean place....you will get everything near by only
A. A.
The parking is horrendous; very narrow and limited spaces. Shops are decent, including Primark, H&M, Matalan, TK Max and many more.
C. K.
OK place for shops, just as most places are nothing spectacular but its alright
L. J.
Nothing special, busy
A. R.
It's fun and there's social distancing everywhere and hand sanitizers stations in the middle
N. A.
Lovely customer service inside shops
A. B.
There is lots of things to choose from, from the Pound land to Greg's and clothes. It's a good mix. I like shopping there as it's pleasant and the prices are affordable.
T. D.
Parking can be hit or miss, the stores inside are fine, Christmas usually has nice decorations.
E. M.
It's a huge building with big selection of shops. It was quite busy when I went there, so I had a bit of queuing, but wasn't too bad.
P. S.
Just cool
P. N.
Great place for you to go shopping loads great things to buy it's great I love going there. You will love it if you've never been there before it's great.
P. R.
Very pleasant. The lawns were very well maintained and the eating area was out of this world.
A. G.
Not really busy now with the lockdown, food is great, and the staff welcoming
C. B.
Good range of both big chain shops and small boutiques and proximity to transportation and other good restaurants in the square. Very easy to get lost in.
S. J.
Great place to shop
j. c.
It's OK parking
J. D.
Has all the basics & some good food options as well. A nice way to spend the day.
D. c.
Easy shoppin, has a car park with lifts, cafe, public toilets. Quite a few shops including TK Maxx, H&M, Primark and a small Tesco and more.
N. I.
It was fantastic and amazing. Lots to explore and spent time with your family and friends. ❤
c. “. b.
Porto cabins until pandemic is on
But dont know if there are any others
S. S.
Good variety of shops but loses a star for the terrible new parking system.
J. T.
Great shopping centre...Situated in town centre..... Roof top parking. Pay and display... Lifts and stairs down... Good variety of shops....
D. D.
It was open during tier3 all shops open . Some shops had staggered entrance. It was difficult to keep 2metres apart.
A. B.
Very good shopping centre
S. L. P.
Has been a good little indoor market for years and years along with the attached Haymarket theatre that I have been to see many shows at
p. C.
Begining to show its age but good selection and range of shops. Car park and usual facilities on site. Situated city centre.
J.
Good range of affordable shops, ranging in prestige. Decor is pretty unappealing but great location to shop, and pretty close to the refurbished & breezy new bus station
