Reviews of Eccles Shopping Centre
N. A.
You'll find Eccles shopping centre very close to Eccles Tram Stop, opposite Eccles Interchange in Salford City. It is a vast collection of shops like most other shopping centres within the city. Not particularly cosy, but decent enough to meet most of your shopping needs. Shops like Wilko, Peacock, Eccles Market, British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, Eccles Pharmacy, Greggs, Home Bargains, SpecSavers, Salford Charities 2geda, and a host of others can be found in this complex, and this kind of adds an exciting variety to the things one can find in this place. You'll find quite a number of charity shops here if that piques your interest. The complex was not busy at all the day I went there, but I can't say if that is the usual feel, or if one should attribute that to covid.
K. C.
It's ok, unfortunately it's hay day is long since gone along with 1980s/1990s. Lots of closed units or temp used. It's fairly clean but like a lot of other places a lack of bins.
B. W.
Three stars at a push it's a bit run down but it's no different than most shopping centres around the north west.rents are too high and apart from charity shops I think there are five three bookies and two pound shops this can not by any stretch of the imagination be described as a shopping centre but it is what it is the people are friendly and are doing their best in a situation that seems they are holding out I feel it will only be a matter of time before it all closes down for good.
g. v.
my local amenities, love in the centre of the people having coffees , like its their own little community with music playing
R. W.
Nice & clean area but could do with more choice of stores.
C. H.
Needs some different shops too many charity shops for my liking otherwise it's clean
D. s.
Loved seeing the community come together for bingo on the square .And also loved the shops
M. Y.
Very out dated, needs to be upgraded and needs more shops but that will not happen until you update.
c. k.
Sorry but it's in need of a full refurbishment, many shops are empty and mostly charity shops
M. F. K.
Nice small town centre & Market 👍
A. C.
Easy parking great for Bus/Tram routs very easy access nice bars, Shops and Takaways. Great place to hang out.
G. N.
It used to be a nice place but for the last 2 years a lot of shops have been closing. Once in a while another one will fill that place, but I have the feeling that the shopping area is not as good as it was before. It´s nice though that the management keeps doing events and outside markets to get some traction again.
M. P.
There's a lot of closed shops but that's probably because of the financial problems we're going through right now, hopefully things will change in the near future.
C. B.
Could use more shops but shops that are there are good 👍
f.
I miss few places that have been closed down. I'm still grateful for whatever is left. I don't understand why the bunches were taken away.
I do prefer Swinton or Salford, but it is what is it. There are mostly charity shops left around 7 of them next to each other.
J. U.
More pubs than shops. Changed into a rough town.
L. m. C.
Only visit Eccles shopping centre for card warehouse otherwise not worth bothering with 👎
g. h.
Loads of charity shops i love searching for a bargain.
D. D.
Sad to see what was once a lovely place to shop with a great range of shops decline to the state of almost being a ghost town! Not many shops left there at all. Mainly Charity shops now!
T.
No reflection on the people that work there more a reflection on how it's been left undeveloped. Must be the only shopping that does outside bingo bloody genius that is. Come on Salford Council gives Eccles shopping centre a much needed dose of tlc. As for the people love the lot of them
L. A. C.
Great for charity shop goodies
d. (.
Extremely gloomy and run down, the only reason I visit is because of a good charity shop variety. Lots of closed shops and the ones that are open are small and haven't been spruced up in a long time.
I. L.
Had a walk round after visiting Salford Royal Infirmary
B. W.
Hard to give a fair rating during covid 19 as lots of shops are closed for the duration. Ordinarily, despite there being lots of empty units, you can still buy most things here and the events such as farmers market, makers market etc means that normally, weekends are brilliant here.
P. B.
Love it's good place to shop
S. R.
Needs such an influx of money. Too many empty shop fronts... it could be amazing again... Morrisons takes over which is sad... it needs a smaller shop so the other smaller shops can survive.
R.
Not bad actually. For a small town centre, there are some good shops and a couple of supermarkets too. Add to that the tram and frequent buses for those who use public transport and the result is, most things are at hand.
C. A. (.
The staff are very polite, professional and great social skills. They took time to explain things when I had questions.
Keep it up guys
M. H.
This used to be great place to shop until they built a huge Morrison's Supermarket which over the years has made it difficult for small businesses to survive. So many shops have closed down while others struggle. What shops are left are still an important part of the local community and mean a lot to local people.
N. J.
A once popular shopping precinct that now unfortunately lives in the shadows of West One Retail Park, Morrison’s Superstore, 24 hour Asda, Trafford Centre and Manchester Arndale. This has made it a depressing and run-down area full of charity shops, bookies, pubs and cheap independent shops selling toilet rolls and electric fly rackets, etc. Should’ve been demolished and West One should’ve been built there instead.
A. A.
You have just about every type of shop from the old fashioned bits and bobs shops to butchers and bakers but no sign of a candle stick maker as of yet.
Put together with the post office and other amenities you have a really good shopping experience if you are prepared to look about. We love it!
M. D.
It's a bit sad looking ...
A. W.
If you need a charity shop go here
P. B.
It's clean as sutch but it's been run down for years and shops like home and bargain is small and doesn't have the stock wilco is amongst the worst for having stock and the tills are slow I have found that the two bargain shops on church st sell most things you can think of and I tend to shop in them more than anywhere else as they are side by side price check both of them.
E. C.
It's there, it's open but not much more to add in redeeming features
m. w.
Not a great choice of shops but if you fancy a pint or snack it's all good
L.
I've noticed recently that the prices of the clothes in the charity shops have risen quite a lot?
M. F.
The coffee shop on the centre really enjoyable staff .... especially when the dun is shining and to introduce bingo is a bonus for those who enjoy .....
A. D.
The town I was born and breed, once a very busy town centre, now completely dead, if you have anything to give to charity this is the place to take it too, full of charity shops, Fancy a bet, you have a big choice for bookies only 9 pubs left around the centre of eccles, a shame really has the place was booming in the 80s 90s and early 2000s
j. b.
Lots of the shops in the centre have closed down due to high business rates. The centre still has a good variety of shops plenty of charity shops to bag a bargain and morrisons supermarket is just across the road as is the tram station.
S. H.
Eccles used to be amazing but due to covid a lot of shops are no longer there, it's a shame. It is still worth a look because the shops that are still there are good.
A. W.
Good transport connections to shopping precinct. Train station and bus station within 5-minutes walk. Parking available nearby. Small selection of shops.
Displacement of shopping due to remote development of Trafford Centre still negatively impacting area.
Some bargain shopping available. Some sheltered areas.
Cafes and pubs nearby.
G. J.
Unfortunately going down hill, why have the seats been removed from the square, and the area allowed to become commercialised, this, along with no public toilets makes it hard for disabled people and the elderly.
A. L.
It looks like a ghost town empty shops etc but people still have several places to go
L. K.
Great choice of shops and pubs
S. J.
Needs a bit of investment, ok if you're local as there's a big Morrisons and a tram stop as well as Farm Foods.
H. A.
Was once a good shopping centre, until covid now there are a lot of stores closed hope it will pick up again in the future.
P. S.
Such a pity this once great little town is in decline. Thank you Salford Council!!. We have excellent transport links, good Hotels, and plenty of History for you to get your teeth into, and not forgetting how nice and down to earth we are
K. K.
It's simple and quaint, there's a Wilko, Peacocks, Boots and lots of charity shops. You can grab a coffee and snack as well as get some basic shopping done. Ideal if you're not in the mood for hustle and bustle.
P. H.
Needs more shops now, looks nice and all but too many boarded up or closed shops!
A. S.
An eclectic little place, not many shops these days, mainly cheap shops and charity shops, so its looking kinda desolate. Very interesting people.... Jax hair design is the best place for a hair cut in the area by miles.
A. P.
In short, it's alright. There's a few little shops that'll help get you through the week, brand name places like Boots, a few cafes and plenty of charity shops plus a small indoor market
C. J.
some good shops on the precinct.Morrisons across the road from the precint which is well stocked & has a good cafe with basic food well cooked. Some parts of Eccles are run down but on the whole you can get most goods & produce there
S. F.
Definitely needs updating and uplifting. Main shops are Wilkinsons, Greggs, and Farmfoods, the rest are charity shops, banks, £1 shops etc. They do have a farmers market every other Saturday which brings something a little different.
V. Š.
There is just a couple of stores. This shopping centre isn't so big nor beautiful. However you can find groceries for everydays life on one place and save yourself a lot of time and energy shopping.
D. G.
This old town is not what it use to be. I remember as a kid Eccles precinct used be packed every day, especially weekends. Now it feels like a ghost town.
A. M.
A few good places tucked in around, but it does seem to be lacking in some areas and a bit hard to find around if you don't know the area. It has the basics though, and a large bus stop.
P. J.
Eccles shopping centre plus it's two market halls offers a reasonable variety of supermarkets, newsagents, bric-a-brac, food shops, cafés, bank, pubs, restaurants, community library and health centre, sports centre and charity shops. There's also a main bus station, a tram route and a train station plus motorway access and, just a ten minute walk away, a small retail outlet mall too. The mall area is a focal point for shoppers to sit and chat with a coffee from the friendly mobile vendor and on the last Sat of every month there's a farmer's market.
J. G.
April 2018 I will be visiting South Korea for the 32nd time. The reason I go so often is that as a Korean war Veteran I need to visit the graves of veterans who are interested there. Also, my Granddaughter lives and works there.
C. d. a. c.
Sadly one of those villages shopping centres that is getting run down by bigger shopping centres like Trafford centre. If your a local it's OK with pubs, pound shops, pawn brokers, takeaways, wilko, Aldi and Morrisons.
K. B.
Better than average choice of shops and spoilt for choice with cafes but lots of empty units and the toilet situation is utterly appalling. The one actually in the shopping centre is so disgusting I'd rather dig a latrine!
S. W.
Many vacant properties. Badly neglected by the local council especially during the market's most redeeming feature which is it's amazing Makers market open 8th October and once a month thereafter.
J. D.
Looking a bit sparce lately- lots of empty shops which is a shame
E. T.
A good choice of shops, easily accessible by bus/car and tram
A. L.
At the back is a little cafe tucked away. you can get a coffee and teacake - cheap. Warm and a great place to have a pit stop.
A. K. S.
Relatively quiet possibly because of lockdown.l however its a nice place to shop
L. A.
Market is non existent, typical council money laundering, promoting corporation over public interests. Not long left with West One across the way.
M. O.
You can get just about anything you want very cheaply, apart from decent perfume if you're looking for a gift.
C. H.
Very poor quality of shops now. Really needs a boost with anything other than pound shops and charity shops
s.
Love how quirky it Is all the vendors are fantastic it's just old and has lots of empty units. Current occupants are great though
K.
need renovation. Smoking population make this place stinks
R. 0.
Not many high street shops a few different banks, Wilkinsons and peacocks. Not much decor at Christmas. Free parking at Morrison's with a time limit of two hours. Think its on its way out the shopping centre as more and more shops are closing each time I visit.
h. k.
Small but good variety of shops n places to eat
E. J.
Not bad. Looks like a ghost town tho with almost all the shops shut down. Sometimes full of crackheads. But that's just Eccles.
S. M.
Needs a good shake up lots of empty properties
M. J.
Some shops are closed now but still a good place
E. B.
Sad😥worked where Home and Bargain now is 50 years ago when Eccles was a thriving, lively town with a great market, a heartbeat and character, and now its a sad relic.
R. Z.
A true face of small perfect english market and retail shopping.feel the warmth and tradition
S. C.
Great place to shop and save... Place is a ghost town.. Even without covid no shops open.
A. Y.
Ironically as West one gets busier, this bumps along the bottom. Yet this has the room. Needs a major rethink.
b. F.
First time i have visited Eccles So many shops and cafes iwas there with my daughter who as moved to Monton. Which i would love to tell you about being there if you wanted me to ..
N. B.
Always good shame shops are leaving it needs more business with affordable rates
m. h.
It has a variety of shops including a large Morrisons supermarket. Plenty of cafes pubs and there is a metrolink tram station linking the town with Media City where BBC TV has its new Studios and ITV has the Coronation St Studios there also. P There is also the Lowry theatre and a shopping mall. The metrolink tram links Eccles with Manchester.
M. P.
Eccles is my local town but sadly lacks facilities like public toilets there is only one that there is a charge for.car parking is abysmal this is an example of the local authority neglecting is outlying towns
K. B.
Like a lot off town centres in the area lack off investment and over priced rents a lot off shops empty because of this could be a thriving centre if effort was put in by owners
A. G.
Just like a regular small town centre shopping area. Quite a few charity shops, wilko, Greg's, peacock, local shops, pubs, restaurants are there. Road towards railway station passes through this area.
A. L.
I will say shopping centre is going downhill all the shops are shutting due to a coronavirus taking over there's hardly nothing left here from the big stores
T. L.
It's a great local shopping centre however there are a number of empty stores and I feel their could be more done to attract local people
K. O.
No shops of any real value unless you've got 40p to spend for the week
G. L.
Sadly shops mostly empty now, even the bank has shut the branch
J. H.
Lots of charity shops but most only take cash
s. p.
Very busy not enough outlets for the amount of customers , hate queuing left with butty and coke (would have preferred hot food and drink)
M. O.
Eccles shopping centres is a combination of different stores. About 3 charity shops inclusive. Is surrounded by different banks. Is a good shopping centre as well.
M. S.
There are various stores in here and the most important one for me, it's got an open space with chairs and tables.
K. G.
Very poor from what it was years ago. Whole area needs a lift.
T. W.
Nice little precinct. Worth a wonder around
S. C.
Too many shops have closed the place seemed dead no atmosphere
C. T.
Used to be very good but as all over shops shutting but still a friendly place to shop
A. H.
So many closed shops now sadly, but clean and tidy
P. W.
Enough shops to get by but lacking any big name shops. Best bet is to visit west one only a short walk away from the centre of eccles.
K. a. m. o. i. S.
Has a variety of stores and charity shops that are vital to the community.
s. b.
Hardly any shops now
S. M.
Needs some investment, few good shops that keep the precinct going.
G. F.
Good place for a morning out with Grandma and to catch up on a bit of shopping, a few pieces of Street art around and a nice process Diana memorial
A. K.
Generally a bit run down with not many shops to choose from but visit on a weekend when the hand crafted market is open, this is definitely worth a visit
a. m.
Nice shops cheap
A. K.
Small and friendly shopping centre
H. H.
love it nice stuff reasonable price
G.
Had the shops that I needed but some extra variety would be nice
G. F.
Not many shops now other than charity shops or pound shops
S. P.
Run down. Good to walk around but not like a high street. Specific shops, more than window shopping area.
A. H.
Quite run down. Half of the shops are closed, the ones that are open do not look like they have had any recent investment.
D. R.
Love the charity shops here Morrison's and post office Morrison's car park is free for 2 hours
m.
We use this shopping centre a lot it's very handy and has quite a lot of choices
S. H.

10/10
G. D.
Nice little open cafe in the square but not many shops
J. H.
Place looks run down. All the shops seem to be closing down. got supermarket and a few shops.
M. C.
Pretty poor, looks uncared for and very few decent shops, Salford City Council should be ashamed of themselves
B. S.
Too many pubs in Eccles shopping centre you don't feel safe sometimes
p. o.
Will look foreword to all the shops reopening.
M. U.
Few good shops but would do with some investment or re-development
m. c.
Not all the services you may need but a good place to shop. No free Parking unfortunately
C. B.
Due to the expansion of big store's it's no wonder it's not as good as it use to be as all the small local businesses are closing down as they can't keep up with the bulk buying large companies :-(
L. H.
Fantastic shopping centre everything you need within walking distance and great transport links
N. J.
Just passed through
C. C.
Easy to get bus and trams run and if going out of Eccles transport is at hand
