Reviews of Stamford Quarter
P. d. l. B.
Did my Christmas shopping here and what an amazing service I was offered! Free gift wrapping service by two delightful ladies, Michelle and Julie who wrapped my purchases like true experts! Its great to see to see that the stamford shopping centre are supporting local retailers in such a difficult period with this lovely free service. Highly recommended that people support them and check this out.
C. C.
Good variety of shops. Easy parking and daily charges are fair. Can get busy at peak times, especially market days.
P. I. P.
The place is having great produce, number of business centres and shops attracts the customers.
S. H.
Trying hard to bring new stores to Altrincham despite the loss of the bigger department stores in recent years. The Hidden Garden has been a particularly good idea.
S. S.
Visited Altrincham Library, which is a busy, popular place for adults & children. Helpful staff too. We put up an exhibition display for Hale & District U3A (University of the 3rd Age) to promote their Open Day on 25/03/22 in Hale village.
A. F.
Great shopping area with M&S, Boots, Waterstones, WH Smiths etc as well as some nice little boutiques. The market has changed a bit since I was a lads! No fab biscuit stall or record stall (all LPs then) any more but some fab ceramics and carved wood on 3 stalls and decent art work. Lots of alfresco dining places and tapas. Wished I could stay longer to sample them.
K. B.
Love shopping here. The new “Not So Secret Garden” they set up really brings a nice atmosphere to the area. It’s a lovely set up in a faux garden with food, drinks, sometimes live music, and there’s chess sets so you can game whilst you enjoy a coffee. I think it’s a nice addition to the community, hopefully soon they introduce a variety of other shops to the area as there’s a lot of space where newer exciting things could go. Would be interesting to see what they add next.
G. E.
Reasonable selection of shops. Undergoing major renovations.
H. M.
Antique little place with a very large variety of beautiful stuff at sensible prices. Worth a visit for atleast once in a life.
A. W.
Altrincham is a struggling town, shops never last long. Still worth an occasional shopping trip though.
B. B.
New tonight 04jun21 the not so secret garden...... Drinking area n Street food n stage with live music on fri, sat, and Sunday for summer.........
s. b.
Good shopping place. Lots of quality shops to visit . Give it a try .
C. O.
Within Altrincham market I visited a place called 'Papa Dutch' and they have the best Dutch pancakes and the best caramel waffles, all hand made right in front of your eyes. The entire process leaves your mouth watering and the delicious taste makes it all worth the short wait.
P. H.
First visit. Interesting shopping area. Loved the market stalls. Bit lower quality beyond Iceland/Home Bargains. Strangest multi-storey car park I have ever been in, but it works.
C. M.
Really good mix of food and drinks vendors
S. c.
Really nice Sunday afternoon with some nice food places to eat make sure make the time to visit this beautiful place 😋
E. P.
A very nice market, loved just strolling around.
A. H.
Some good shops but a bit limited could do with a bit of a revamp
S. M.
Fabulous, vibrant atmosphere, great street food and trendy vibe
M. C.
The area is becoming more pedestrianised but there's a lack of high street stores, with many empty units in a tatty state
L. S.
Could do with a few more high street shops there has been more new shops added clothes and a beauty shop well worth a visit
The cafes quite busy surprised to see the chippy open
d. o.
Great night sadly a few drunk idiots 3 or 4 kicked off the police arrived quick and locked them up respect to greater Manchester police and the great night was resumed.
D.
erm lovely little vinyl shop/ cafe in the somewhere. adequately priced parking. great shops. but a little bit nippy could do with some space heaters. other than that can’t really fault it. thank you altrincham. much love. peace on earth
P. J.
Nice shopping centre. Not a massive selection, variety, of shops like Manchester. Rackhams and a few other companies have closed, the market is extremely minimal compared to how it was. However great Resturants and lots of places to eat, lovely sandwiche shops, coffee shops and chippy. 👍
J.
Great variety of shops! Some good high street ones. Places to eat, drink and shop, what more could you want.
k. f.
In the sunshine, what a fab place with little street food places. Felt like I was on holiday
E. S.
Enjoy the music and seating area where drinks and food are served. Shopping area clean to a point. It could do with the walking area regularly washed down with a high pressure wash where dogs urinate.
This could take place early morning before shops open to reduce marking and smell. The whole of the full shopping area in Altrincham should be included.
I. H.
Love shopping here. Not too crowded and all in same pedestrian street. Good mix of shops, although pity High Street big names were forced to close! Debenham etc!
R. T.
Like the curates egg some good (the market and surrounding area) and some bad (lots of old dated shops in the precinct) it’s slowly getting batter
j. w.
great shopping complex, a little confusing in the car park with them doing work on it currently
j. l.
More shops than a lot of towns, good atmosphere and busy. The market area is good for eating and also has some good stalls.
T. A.
Felt like a big spender walking down the street.
I'm now also homeless and living in this street.
You can find me between M&S Mon-Thurs 11am-2pm before I go and buy my smack.
M. T.
Lovely and lively town. Wish it stayed open longer. Shops close at 5pm. Could do with some street food counters at night when shops remain closed.
R. P.
So this panorama view just behind the shopping area on the A56, need to make all of Altrincham shopping like the Stanford Quarter.
G. G.
Collecting a relative having just finished work. Parking is tight and wardens are keen. Market days are good, Unagi and One Central are well worth a visit.
S. N.
Nice selection of shops, can be a bit busy though if you're concerned about C19. Overall nice experience.
E. O.
Great place for to visit whether you want to shop or eat. There's lots of choice.
J. R.
The Stamford Quarter is now beginning to be the place to shop after being in the doldrums for a while with so many stores and shops being borded up because of high rents etc.
G. W.
I love this shopping centre its really got a great atmosphere. The shops are fantastic and I love the cafes and restaurants which are upmarket and very enjoyable. There is an M & S store which sometimes has great bargains. Good fun place to spend time.
A. M.
Lots of places to eat. Market stalls to look round. Good atmosphere
R. R.
Great pop up bar etc in Stamford Square, which has really transformed the empty spaces there. Even better when the sun shines and the nights are long . Hope it stays for the Winter months.
D. B.
improved so much recently! Stutter and Twitch and the Not so Secret Garden have made it seem so much more welcoming
R. D.
Nice and peaceful upstairs about 10. After that too busy. Coffee nice and hot. Cheers
R. A.
Good selection of shops, really good bars & restaurants around including excellent Everyman cinema and indoor market food area.
A. H.
Lots of great shops, coffee shops and restaurants, low cost parking in multi story. Excellent place for a shopping trip has every shop you need. Very clean area.
N. S.
Fantastic food & atmosphere. Staff went out of their way to keep tables clean & available. Definitely worth a visit 🙂
H. A.
This is a nice open space where you can relax, have a drink and listen to music. Take a little break before going back to the shops.
A. M.
Best shopping place. Always come here because I can take a walk too☺️
A. K.
Parking on Sundays is just 50p for a whole day!
N. H.
Good shopping area. Most shops are on the small side but overall a very pleasant and clean environment. Lots of nice cafes for a lunch out or a coffee and cake! Easy to get to by car or by tram always a plus!
A.
I like Altrincham it's ashame so many shops are closing. Couple of good pubs, a couple of bars, cafes etc. Parking isn't bad and the markets are always good. Wish there was more money thrown into the town to get more people going there. It's a great place to explore.
A. T.
Love it, I trot round with my grand daughter in the pram. I can get into and round all the excellent shops with the pram.
c. b.
Lovely & safe place to eat & drink or (coffee) plenty of shops.
S. T.
Altrincham has come back to life, so many places to eat and drink, can't wait to try more venues out
T. C.
This is a tricky one. It is a nice high street, some expected shops, nice places to eat or have a beer or coffee. Two very different worlds collide, it's strange.
D. P.
Plenty of shops good food nice selection of places to relax after shopping
D. P.
Always a great place to visit 😀
J. B.
First time out out. Sat outside and had quesadias, lots of room, not too busy, early afternoon. Left as large groups arrived, but had enjoyed the time there.
J. G.
Antique little spot with an exceptionally enormous assortment of lovely stuff at reasonable costs. Worth a visit for at least once in a daily existence.
C. B.
Really cheap parking. A nice town centre to visit when you need any sort of shopping. Really good variations of shops. It can get extremely busy sometimes. There's loads of cafes and restaurants if your looking for nice food and drink with the market just round the corner. We always visit if we need clothes, food, cleaning stuff or if we want to visit the bank you can do the majority of things in Altrincham.
A. O.
Busy and vibrant. One of the best local shopping centres around. Shop local. All you need for Xmas shopping in one place, especially linked with the Market experience. Fab. And parking costs not exorbitant like some declining shopping centres not to far from here.
M. F. (.
A few lovely shops here but missing the large mega units of rackhams and debenhams which remain empty. Unfortunately the new lockdown means even more shops have to temporarily close at such an important time for xmas trade
A. B.
Really like how Altrincham is coming along. It's buzz has returned given it died really for some time. I work in the area also so that gives me more chances to explore the new shops n ideas coming to the area. Defiantly worth goin to visit as I'm certain it'll cater most people's budgets....
L. S.
Very nice well laid out, good variety of shops and banks, worth a visit if you are passing
W. W.
The Two security guards that were help me and my friend today when he fell in Waterstons were fantastic thankyou Gentlemen
G. W.
Used to be THE place to shop before the Trafford Centre was built and has struggled ever since. To be fair the council are doing their best with low rents to attract independents in. Its slowly reinventing itself as a restaurant/cafe bar destination.
The market area, now the old ladies knickers stalls have been replaced by a fantastic upmarket food court is excellent though.
I. V.
Pleasant area with usual shops and stores better at mid week rather than weekends,
W. I.
I want shopping complex with many stores and offer. Didn't spend too long here as I'm not too keen I'm staying on shopping centers, particularly during busy periods! Don't think there's any stores you won't find that won't be able to suit your needs.
t. u.
Feel the city atmosphere with old English version. Friendly local people.
B. L.
Went for a pair of new trainers from one of the shops in the Quarter didn't end up buying them as they was trying to charge and extra £15 for the same thing as in other stores in the chain
g. s.
Great range of shops, clean and tidy, great market
R.
The food was lovely I would recommend it to anyone very clean staff where helpful and friendly
p. e.
The shopping centre has gotten so much better over the last few years. Everything you need is there. Most units are filled. And there's always a good atmosphere. Only downside is the chuggers, there is far to many and ruin the experience a bit.
S. S.
Ample parking space and paying machines to use. Quite convenient to park the car and walk around for shopping. Also 50p for all day Sunday is a great price for such a location!
a. m.
Nice shopping centre, shame there's no toilet facilities, none that I could find and no signs to prove otherwise, had to use a coffee shops facilities, otherwise nice selection of shops, multi story car park which exits into the shopping centre can be challenging when trying to leave as very poor signs showing the exit to the car park, went round twice in circles trying to find the exit.
S. F.
Altrincham town is managing with covid better than many and it's a pleasant place to be. Still a few empty shops though and the too of George Street could really use a facelift.
C. H.
I remember Stamford Quarter being an avoidable place 10 years ago. Now it is modern, clean and has a really friendly vibe making it preferable to a large shopping centre. It's very close to the market, some great bars and restaraunts.
L. T. T.
This being the first time I have been to Altrincham I was pleasantly surprised how well laid out it is. I was straight off the tram and into the shops. It's well worth another visit.
A. N.
Decent area, lots of shops well worth a visit
J. R.
Brilliant staff, Brilliant food. Brilliant beers 🍻as Arnie said "I'll be back" thanx from me and my grandson 😀
S.
Going through a lot of improvement works currently so probably worth another star once completed. Not a bad precinct for a medium sized market town. Alot of new restaurants and bars opening up within the vicinity of the Stamford Quarter and the award withing Market House food hall is just round the corner. Only a 2 minute walk from the transport interchange. The whole area is definitely on the up and has a lot to offer in and around the town centre.
N. M.
This town centre had a good range of shops and lots of café's! We found that the area was clean and tidy and there was a nice atmosphere to the place. All together a lovely place.
G. L.
Nice area to shop, eat lunch, drink coffee. Good selection of eateries both chain and local, Tim Hortons is a great addition. Nearby is the popular indoor/outdoor Altrincham market.
K. W.
Stamford quarter looks OK, clean tidy, wide walkway , shops look well designed, windows of shops look enticing. The only two problems that concerned me were, the entrance to most shops are usually wide enough for my wheelchair, but most entrances have quite a large lip to get my wheelchair over. My daughter has to do a quite abig shove, which is a bit uncomfortable. The other one is that their is no cover if it rains.
a. d.
It's a lively shopping centre and nice to see not many empty units.
D. A.
Great for a wander. Lots of shops and places to eat and drink in a relaxing district with no cars.
N. W.
Loved it just got new stock in could do with some underwater for women though but the quality of there clothes is lovley fabrics are guaranteed very nice thanks
L. C.
There are several bars and interesting independent shops here. The Market Hall offers a great choice of food and drink, but it's quite expensive. There are specialist vintage and producers' markets at the weekend.
N. M.
Great location if you want to stay longer than 2 hours and reasonably priced. Will deffo be back there.
G. M.
The main food hall area is converted from the old indoor market place
Various food & beverage shops & stalls
The home made pizza is well worth the visit
The indoor seating is benches and tables which are for all to use and always seem to be busy
J. E.
Very quiet, due to circumstances but M n S, Iceland, Boots, poundland and H & B are all open so you can get a little walk in at the same time.
C. B.
Nice shopping centre. Good wide selection of stores. Numerous charity shops. Goose Green is a nice little area too. The Tesco store is large and accessible on foot.
R. G.
Altrincham generally has improved massively recently, with a good selection of high street shops, cafes and restaurants. The market house had some of the best food in the country, and parking is really cheap.
M. H.
Gotta admit, it's a wee bit slippy in the rain but it's got a big Wilko's. So swings n roundabouts
D. R.
Good if you are into sewing, knitting selling everything you can think of and the staff are helpful and friendly. They also have classes for sewing and knitting at this and their other stores.
S. T.
You can find lots of activities and main shops in the quarter. There are Boots, M&S, Moonson, Warehouse, Iceland, Natwest, Barclays, Nero, Costa and lots more. The only downside of the place is when all shops close around 5.30pm or 6pm, you don't feel that much safe.
J. H.
Stamford quarter, a nice place to shop. The area is kept very clean and has a variety of restaurants and cafes. A good place to meet up with friends for lunch, a chat then a browse round the shops along with High Street names there are smaller boutiquey type shops offering a choice of fashion and accessories. Parking is good, there is a multistorey.
D. R.
Good selection of shops, cafes and bars. Improving all the time with a fantastic indoor food court and good indoor market. Parking charges are reasonable too if you can find a space.
W. F.
It's a good place for shopping
c. w.
Parking is way to exspesive for a center with so little to offer. High rate has chased out some longstanding tenants and the center has recently lost some of it better known shop... Like Clintons Game and H. M.Samuels. The center did make a short comeback, after hiring a management to help breath new life into the center they started by reducing parking cost which was quite effective..... They did a good job and was let go shortly afterwards, all their hardwork seems to have been undone since then.
t. o.
Most of the stores I visited had the most unhelpfull staff I have met in a long time
F. K.
What hits you immediately is the cleanliness of the Stamford Quarter, its great to see. During these tough times I can see things changing. It's good to see independent shops starting to the SQ. Let's hope we're turning the corner .
V. C.
Sad to see so many empty shops here amongst the big name high street stores 😕 It's a bustling area despite this and those stores, well known names and smaller ones were attracting customers.
S. S.
It has the best shops ever. You can find everything you want. It is near the Altrincham market, which is a great place to visit.
C. C.
Went for the time last week on their set dinner menu. Outstanding, it wont be our last visit. Great service and value for money with a good wine list too.
C. J.
Loads of new and different shops, the area just keeps getting better and better. Loads of places to shop, to eat and drink.and also to be entertained. To place changes depending on the day you visit
A. G.
Only 1 car park but a lively place to visit, eat and shop!
j. e.
Great market with lots of quirky stalls and surrounding shops. Good bars and restaurants dotted around too. Accessible by tram/ train and bus. Also has a couple of car parks.
A. M.
Walked through looking for C&A bit couldn't find it or either Rackham's or even Prestos so a little disappointed.
P. Q.
Altrincham is Beautiful, the people and the town.
And when the weather contributes too is a bliss.
Please visit is worth it x
S. B.
Cheap parking and loads of spaces. 2 quid for 3 hours isn't bad. Went to Pierre Bistro which is a fabulous little restaurant well worth a visit.
E. M.
Altrincham is moving up in the world. The new pavements and new roads mixed with the old school building and shabby sheek shops. The vast array of charity shops pubs and eateries are worth while. I don't get why more people don't visit. There's even a cinema. Restaurant desert house and a tea house bit for everyone cause if it's not your scene the wetherspoons is x
S. C.
Nice little shopping center. Plenty of cafes and a great boutique called Laundry b...
C. P.
Not been to Altrincham in awhile and pleasantly surprised by all the lovely independent bars and cafes where the outdoor market was 👍 there's a lively buzz with plenty of interesting foods healthy vegan etc. 💕🙌
J. W.
Lots of lovely cafes and bars.
Bustling artisan market, good vibes
L. E.
It's improving! Nice to see some independent places opening including the fab Stutter and Twitch coffee and record caravan!
S. D.
Best ale around alty in the old market tavern and good pint in orange tree as well.
M. K.
Definitely worth a trip the area is much improved especially centre of the main shopping area near M n S. Excellent eateries in the market place. Good atmosphere.
P. P.
Much improved shopping centre, plenty of variety of shops wth lots of eating places, also the odd busker adding some music while you shop
I. B.
Super clean and super nice great wifi would be great if all of the high street could be modernized
S. P.
Good selection of shops also with market round the corner
A. C. (.
Lots of nice shops very clean and tidy
C. P.
Clean and bright, excellent place to visit for shopping, eating or just coffee
M.
Great area, good shopping and nice feel to Altrincham. Waterstones is a great place to have a coffee and browse the books.
A. H.
Looks like a good place to go when it is open. Lots of choice of street food and a good looking market.
s. b.
Went on a warm evening had a drink with a good live band playing. Great.
M. L. H. M.
Great place. So much variety. You can get almost everything there. Lovely and clean shopping centre. Gorgeous!
C. L.
It looks good and is well positioned. I will return when everything is open so I can give a realistic and reasoned star rating
M. F.
Bit sad during lockdown. A busy community normally, but now all quiet. Many of the stores won't open again I'm sure.
M. H.
Stanford Quarter, is a pedestrian only shopping area. It's got Marks & Spencers, Rackham,Paperchase,Clark's,Waterstone Monsoon, Debenham,Next, Boots, WH Smith's, many more shops. It's kept cleans and tidy and worth visiting. If you get hungry the cafes in the M&S, Waterstone and Costa Coffee. It's a nice shopping area.
S. I.
Nice pedestrianised shopping quarter, got a certain 'select' air to it - most of the shops everyone needs and great NEW public transport (bus/train and tram) interchange at the bottom end!
l. t.
Stamford quarter has a good shopping experience for me has every thing like Costa coffee shop and Waterstones book shop also I can buy train DVDs at the works they have pound shops where I can buy things at very reasonable prices
R. L.
Lots of shops and food. Relaxed atmosphere.
K. H.
Nice area but only stopped here, as part of the charity walk I did.
A. A.
Heavy rain took the edge off a very pleasant lunch at SUGO Italian restaurant. Altrincham has certainly made the move to be an upmarket town
G. B.
Good place to hang out and do your shopping. Has a large variety of shops.
C. Y.
Lovely pedestrianised part of town, and has all the shops that I (a bloke) would visit regularly: Waterstones, WH SMITH, various phone shops. Plenty for the missus too. Parking is cheap and plentiful.
P. A.
Love atmosphere here... food was all very new... corn fritters, avocado etc.. all very healthy and well presented, no boring sarnies here 👍
R. H.
This time of covid they have done a great job making alty market a safe and friendly place to eat.. Highly recommended.. Especially fort breakfast
J. M.
Really very good
T. W.
Lots of shops and very busy.
S. G.
Plenty of variety here. Many shops have surprisingly modest prices. We also found some genuine bargains in clothing.
D. T.
Some really nice shops and very close to the market.
T. C.
Nice market with some good food shops had a very nice wrap
H. C.
Not so secret garden is great for a coffee and a chill on the bean bags or later for a mojhito and some live music
M. W.
My home town and, Altrincham having gone through a major dip in fortunes, is now becoming an exciting place to visit, shop, eat, meet friends and The Stamford Quarter has brought the heart back.Great parking, clean and lots of choice.
B. A.
Availability of good shops and retailers, and easy accessibility make it a good highstreet..
J. D.
Altrincham's Stamford Quarter is a nice place to shop without traffic worries as it is pedestrianised. Has varied shops such as JD sports, Wilko, Debenhams, H&M, Boots, M&S, The Works, Poundland, Iceland and many more. Market open 3 times a week. Parking available over the precinct with lifts down to the shops. Tesco extra close by as well as the leisure centre and train/bus interchange.
G. A.
Very quiet today. Some shop's only serving at the door, other's open as normal with distance marking.
A. H.
Excellent place to visit especially in Nice weather.
Good experience...
Z. A.
Multiple shops... Always a nice experience to check out the shops.
R. i. a. n. a. F. i. n. n. i. g. a. n.
Very lovely although today there wasn't anybody busking which was sad because I love the music in the background whilst I shop
D. P.
Love Altrincham stamford quarter all the shops you need and always busy
J. s. s. y. y.
Very good shop centre so much much range and things to do. There's always something going on in the quarter
J. W.
Really rather impressive. Sparkling new and good selection of shops. Make sure to pop into the market too!
A. M. M.
Nice. Not a busy place. Shops are varied and many. Only thing is they close earlier than in the city centre.
J. G.
Top place
I. S.
The market was closed after Christmas so only 4 stars, but the food areas were open and good quality as usual
L. C.
So much better these days. Although still too many big stores for my liking. More independents would give more choice
s.
Had food and a look around ..
C. M.
One of our first trips here since Covid but in general helping us get used to a new normal in a safe way.
H. K.
Really good variety of shops and cafes. Wish there was better choices for parking
S. S.
I shop in Altrincham regularly, was surprised to see the new parking system in the Stamford Quarter. At a time when local shops need all the help.they can get, restricting this is not helpful to anyone.
M. P.
Amazing place to visit shop and eat
J. M.
Brilliant place for shopping. Lots to choose for.
T. S.
Nice enough outdoor strip mall with an expensive indoor carpark. Too many empty units and not enough of the basics with Trafford Centre a 15 minute drive away.
D. M.
Great shopping loads of parking superb range of shops bars and restaurants
A. L.
Has good range of shops and lots of outdoor cafes
T. P.
It's a pretty standard city centre shopping precinct. It's got what you need, but definitely worth a wander round the edges to find some more unusual offerings.
D.
There are very few reasons for me to go here. Not as good as it was 30 years ago when I first came to the area. Quite a number of empty units. Some of the usual high street stores are here and there is a small market round the corner.
G. J. B.
A pleasant shopping experience since this area was fully refurbished.
There are many varied shops from H&M, M&S, Greggs and Boots
N. U.
It is located the heart of the Altrincham. Nice car parking facilities. There are so many high street brand highly recommended
t.
First time I've been. Was expecting certain chain shops but they weren't there. Whsmith clearance upstairs was good
G. H.
Wide range of shops ample parking
M. A.
A great place plenty of room great access and a wide range of goods
S. L.
Great area for a relaxed , chilled out Drink with friends, (Its the Trendy set area, but nice) , Wood cooked Pizza, good Atmosphere. :)

k. b.
Loved it! Plenty of shops & eateries in a bigger than I expected small City. Didn't have enough time to explore all of it.
R. D.
Fun day
E. F.
This place is going through a rainasance. Some fantastic places for dining or to catch up with friends, if you have any, over a cup of coffee in the various cafe's
H. L.
Like the shops and variety they offer. Ample parking nearby. Good food places around. Nice atmosphere
f. b.

J. J.
Very nice shopping area.. clean and taken care of.. lovely flowers..
K. P.
Just went for a mooch round, plenty of shops and eateries, had posh egg and bacon brunch at Blanchflower, bit expensive but very nice.
A. O.
A lot better than it used to be. A nice variety of retailers including firm favourites and independent outlets.
B. T.

Lively place with lots of shopping and leisure options. Easy access via tram and bus too. It is worth a visit.

Not as good as it used to be, Altrincham was the place to shop, gone downhill, probably due to extortionate land rental for shops like many other towns and places like the Trafford Centre springing up, shame.
G. d.
Nice enough. Has some decent shops. Get ready to be approached by lots of charity workers though.
M. M.
