Reviews of Locks Heath Shopping Village
M. D.
Key community hub housing a diverse group of major chain and small independent outlets. Dominated by a large retail store with cafe and an Iceland food shop. Acts as a meeting place for the local community.
S. A.
Some useful local shops. No greengrocer, but veg stall there most weeks. Excellent butcher, decent baker (their jam doughnuts are amazing), well stocked chemist as well as many other shops and some cafes and restaurants. Small library and community centre. Good sized Waitrose.
D. H.
Love Locks Heath, went for Costa but also made a purchase at Cook. Smart little set up. Management team clearly on the ball. Well done.
A. G.
A nice little shopping centre with a fiat sized free car park.
There is a pub, Costa & Waitrose as well as other independent shops.
S. J.
Lovely little local shopping centre. Good selection of shops and reasonable parking places
f. j.
Love the Locksheath shops it's got most things in a small square better than most larger towns. The sandpit is great for the kids.
L. S.
Only one or two decent shops to attract me back in the future otherwise not somewhere l would want to return to in a hurry.
S. J.
It's ok but need a bank and a boots and a clothes shop, Waitrose is great as is Iceland , but just needs more
V. S.
As a small shopping centre this place is thriving. The management company have many ideas to draw people in and further improvements are due soon.
J. C.
Came here a few times, had an Iceland as well as a Waitrose. Easy to park, plenty of disabled spaces.
D.
Good local shopping centre with plenty of free parking & a good range of shops for a pretty compact shopping centre
L. P.
Great waitrose store and cafe, and a small selection of other shops and cafés. Adequate car park with two electric car charging points fully functional.
c. d.
We come here for the Subway, which is convenient for us, and we can grab a quick bit of shopping from the Waitrose as well. Very handy.
EDIT: The Subway has closed now, so dropping my review from 5 stars to 4 - there's not so much here for us now. Mainly come here for the bottle bank - and potentially to use the library (although so far none of the books I have been looking to borrow have been available at the Locks Heath Library). I doubt we would go out of our way to go the Waitrose anymore, since we only shopped there for convivence when we would visit the Subway.
J. S.
Good selection of shops but the car park needs resurfacing
I. P.
Local shops, decent selection onsite.
Would recommend the bakery 😁
S. F.
Nice shopping experience.stopped for coffee as well.
G. B.
Nice location and good variety. Parking for free 4 hours is a bonus.
J. O.
A good local shopping centre for every day needs
R. S.
Excellent selection of coffee shops Excellent bakery buchner and other shops
L. B.
Small shopping centre with a variety of shops, large supermarket, a couple of pub's and restaurants.
D. F.
Great place to do your shopping, has four hours free parking and a excellent amount of shops, stores and pubs. Really nice location and easy to get to.
P. W.
Easy to park and a relaxed shopping
m. r.
Great selection of shops really convenient.
H. O.
This shopping village is small but very useful as it has everything you need. Food, gifts, gym, doctor and dentist, library and of course a pub, library and community hall. Great to have it within walking distance and has good bus services if you need to go anywhere else. It's been brilliant during this Covid situation.
P. A.
Good shopping centre. A handy range of shops. One word of warning, the car parking spaces can be quite narrow.
N. K.
Great little shopping centre and has improved since new management. Has a fantastic bakers there. Sand pit in the summer for the little ones to play in and events at Halloween and Christmas. Only issue is people who do not have children in their cars, parking in the parent / child spaces, however this is an issue everywhere you go.
G. F.
Coffee OK, no crossiants available in the morning, staff busy big queues out the door, all tables dirty & no cleaning or clearing tables, defo needs work, staff seem to be laughing at customers and when serving they our young staff!!
M. C.
This place surprised me. I have never had cause to visit previously, but a brilliant real butcher, lovely gift shop and very good wine merchants (yes they do Gin). Bakery, Costa coffee with a friendly library, public toilets (very clean), and a great Waitrose. On the first floor a Pilates studio, chiropractic clinic (fab) and a gym all with free parking
E. D.
Quite a nice local shopping centre. We took my disabled father so that he could access the Halifax and Waitrose.
We managed to get a disabled parking bay, but only after another person vacated, the disabled bays were very busy.
We assembled his wheelchair and off we went, the pavements and paths were very smooth and level, as was access into both shops and within. Excellent.

s. h.
Good range of shops. Good parking. Good number of independent shops for variety.
A. C.
I mainly only go for the library or Occasions. The staff are really lovely in Occasions and very helpful. The library isn't big but they still have a pretty decent selection of books to read. I can highly recommend the bakery, it has an excellent selection of cakes and pastries etc.
P. L.
Free parking and plenty of disabled spaces. Good mix of shops. The butchers sells good quality meat. Good little post office. Very large Waitrose which is well stocked. All in all a great little shopping centre.
M. F.
A great place that has everything you need in terms of local amenities. Despite recent attempts to give the place a face lift it does still appear a little dated though (although I am aware from posters around that plans have been made for alterations)
V. M.
Great little bunch of shops, good selection. Fresh butcher, frozen food shoo, waitrise. Nice Costa to sit and relax in.
K. S.
Nice little local shopping village. Has different events in the community hall. Market stalls at the weekend. Wish Whiteley could up its game and provide something like it.
C. H.
It's ok, small local shopping area. Waitrose sell lovely stuff but it is expensive, Iceland is good. A few other shops like a chemist and convenience store. Sadly the butchers has now closed.
S. M.
Nice little shopping area, plenty of places to sit and relax. Waitrose for good quality food and plenty of places to eat and drink. Community Centre very often having car boots and craft fairs. Free parking and frequent bus service.
C. G.
It was the fruit & veg and the flower seller outside market stalls we went too.
They had fabulous, fresh and well priced quality items for sale on each stall. The sellers were helpful and knowledgeable about their wares as well as being most friendly and chatty
Good parking area.
D. N.
Suburban shopping experience. Terrible brickwork.
T. M.
Great came to get frozen meals and this is what i got enjoyed a Costa coffee as a treat. Parking was a bit of a calamity even though car park is big. Because of this I gave it a four star.
A. H.
Everything you need! At a price, but upmarket feel, at Waitrose. Very good, wide range of booze! Better bargains to be found at Iceland where staff seem well managed & cheerful (their frozen fish is probably the 'freshest' way actually eat fish!)
Post Office is good, but busy at times. Be prepared to queue & chat with other friendly people for a few minutes. 🤔😁
Costa (efficient staff & quick) or Waitrose for coffee. Or, in the Strawberry Tavern if open.... other benefits there too such as Tangle Foot and live music.
T. H.
Car parking spaces are too narrow for an everyday car!
J. C.
Nice to visit somewhere different and look around
R. M.
Nice shopping centre, that is busy but never feels overcrowded, car park is a suitable for the size of the centre, good bus service from Southampton and Fareham for those that don't drive
P. M.
Excellent.shop.good.restuarant well.worth a visit
e. c.
Little hidden gem of a village centre, there's a small market area, a proper butchers and cake shop.
C. s.
Lovely little shopping village ,everything I need other than clothing /footwear ....
Clean welcoming free parking & feels very secure
M. D.
Lovely community feel to the centre, you can park very close to shops & there is everything you need there, from food to chemist, bank, post office, Iceland, Waitrose where you can have a good coffee & some fresh cakes, even a couple of decent charity shops. There is also a small market in the middle on Tuesdays. Highly recommend a visit.
G. S.
My favourite Waitrose but the rest of the centre looks sad. Loads of empty space. #covidtimes landlord ( new river retail ) needs to reduce the rents.
M. S.
Great parking, Waitrose one of the best super markets with a great selection of products, also chemist and a lovely card shop other shops as well it's all there no need to drive any where else.
P. C.
Nice local shopping centre good bakery, betting shop, pizza hut and chemist plus more.
S. W.
Apart from the local youngsters and other people who cause trouble in the local shopping village after dark. Its a really nice friendly place. We have what we need near by.
A. F.
Shops are a little limited, however what shops are there are very good indeed - Iceland, wine shop (the Mrs favorite!) Two nice charity shops, a highly recommend Indian restaurant, Waitrose, a superb little privately owned hardware store which actually sells everything! And there's the (small) library. Market place / stalls on a Tuesday and often other little events.
S. H.
Great friendly staff and ample parking if avoid peak times, like Christmas! Over 200-300 spaces, why people say parking is poor I have no idea!! It's a shopping centre. Good experience and knowledgeable staff, queues often move quickly even at peak lunchtime or 'pension' day.
m. c.
Nice little collection of shops always seems to be stalls of all sorts outside.
M. B.
I visited Locks Heath shopping village looking for an HSBC bank but unfortunately the bank was in the park gate area and not the Locks Heath area. Nevertheless we were really pleasantly surprised with what we found! A really lovely shopping area with a wide selection of shops including a wine shop, a supermarket, a bakery, a travel agents etc etc Etc. Definitely a nice place to while away an hour or so
T. M.
Small and cosy little place a bit of everything.
R. C.
Good and varied selection of food outlets at both ends of the scale, I.e waitrose and Iceland, but also coffee, chemist, off licence and a few other useful bits besides
S. P.
Good shopping centre, got Waitrose as well as a great bakers, Soothill's, whose products are excellent. There is a wide range of other shops and of course the all important library.
P. B.
OK shopping centre. Mixture of a few local shops and a couple of chains like Iceland and Waitrose. Good chemist / pharmacy. Parking generally OK but Saturdays can be busy. Usually you can find a space as people don't stay for hours.
A. B.
One of my supermarkets (Waitrose). Expensive but food varied and kitchenware refined. Shame they don't sell Parma ham at the Deli counter any more.
J. B.
Always visit here when I visit down South, nice array of shops, Waitrose, Iceland, chemist, two charity shops, hardware store, post office, library, pub, butchers, bakery, newsagents, alcohol shop .
I. P.
Local, good selection of stores though the presence of Costa in the middle of the site is out of place.
Big shout it to Alexander Hadleigh Wine Merchants, great selection at fair prices and so much more personal than the nearby Waitrose well worth a browse round.
M. T.
Welcoming, friendly, enough coffee shops and eating venues for a compact shopping area. Love Waitrose especially
You can get all necessities there. Very social place one need never be lonely there.
P. C.
Great staff. Really helpful
G.
Good for a quick shop. I normally go every other day. You can get most things you need to. Parking can get busy but I have always managed to find a space. A very handy place to have.
E. G.
An old persons dream... Sure a pensioner could spend a day here! It's got a pub, Waitrose, Costa, iceland, two charity shops, post office, a few independent shops and much more! I often stop here on my way home from work. It's good
L. J.
So nice to come here. Great charity shops and atmosphere, although mostly an older generation.
L. D.
Lovely place for a little gently shopping. It has an excellent butcher which when combined with the Waitrose supermarket and other shops creates a good range of different types of products and services.
g. j.
I use Iceland regularly, waitrose is expensive. The post office is good with friendly staff. The Newsagent is good! But Subway nothing special
T. L.
The shopping facilities are good, Soothill bakers excellent. Parking is ample and free for limited time. Have found concern in safety of paving though as some slabs are uneven and loose, helped someone up after nasty fall ten days ago and been unable to find anyone at management office to speak with. Left message but no reply. Shame as that lets centre down and especially unfortunate as many older visitors shop there.
One week later.
Pleased to see barriers around problem slabs.
S. S.
Quit a few good shops here and the recently refurbished Strawberry Field Tavern. Car park spaces are a bit small so the 4x4's will need care (better spaces at the far end of the car park). Motorcycle parking opposite the clock tower.
A. H.
Great selection of shops
n. d.
There is a market in the square 3 times a week (one on weekend) . Much better value than the supermarket;plus you have to que for ages to go in there, which is pretty poor really. Apart from that cool place to visit for a bit of banter with the locals.
C. S.
This Shopping Area has all you need for that weekly ship, the post office to. Pay bills and a. couple of coffe and Cake shops to choose from. Partially covered for bad weather, parking is free for up to Three hrs I believe.Great for old and young alike.
B. G.
It's okay for food shopping but no other shops are that interesting. Parking is annoying since they changed the exits and entrances.COSTA coffee is overpriced overcrowded and dirty, soothhills bakery is shabby /staff don't wash crockery properly and cakes seem dry/not fresh. Waitrose is okay. newsagents is okay too. butcher is bad with hygiene- they don't use gloves touch meat then touch till and sell meat that's got short use by date. toilets by library are disgusting no sinks work and no soap. School kids from local secondary loud and ride bikes everywhere hang about drinking and smoking under archway by steps. Signs clearly say no bikes skateboards or scooters but kids are disrespectful and block doorway to shops etc with bikes stand in groups being rude as you pass by. Used to be police patrol officers in area to watch them but not anymore because of cost cuts.
J. C.
Really has most things you would want under one roof. Even a Dry cleaning service now which is really useful and alot cheaper than the service offered by Waitrose here! Staff also polite and very helpful.
J. S.
Fabulous shopping centre everything you need under one roof free parking and lovely and clean.
l. b.
Lots of shops Iceland is great and on some days you get the market and during school holidays there is a sand pit for the kids there two cafes and apub and car parking is free
M. L.
A mix of local shops and bigger brands. There is often a good market on Saturdays as well.
J.
Good little shopping centre that caters to all. I’m always down there if I need to pick up little bits in Waitrose etc.. Parking is free and easy. Shame they’ve got rid of the Shell garage though as it was so convenient for me.
D. E.
Love it here. A little bit of everything for shopping. Charity shops that are reasonably priced. Iceland and Waitrose. Waitrose very expensive. Bought some snap peas that were pricey and were ready to be seeded again. Nasty
S. M.
It has some really nice shops in it and if you need to get a Coffee and sit down for a while to get over the price you have just paid for the stuff you have just bought from Locks Heath then they have a really nice Costa Coffee shop to relax in as well
M. W.
Forward thinking enough to have Instavolt install EV chargers on the car park. The ONLY brand of public charger that consistently works.
J. J.
Mixture of shops, cafes etc lovely little village
C. U.
We like Waitrose, so Locks Heath is a good visit. Bug it has so much more with a selection of good and varied shopping options. We often go for the out for stalls especially the fruit and veg man who produces great fresh produce at reasonable prices (And cheaper than Waitrose!).
P. M.
Nice array of shops and plenty of parking. If you're looking for wines, spirits or champagne check out Alexander Hadleigh Wine merchants, they really know their eggs..
i. p.
Great shopping centre has 99% of what you would need shame there are more banks there you over have to go to the post office or use a cash point
M. B.
Something for everyone. Waitrose for something special, Iceland for your basics, Subway for a quick bite on the run, Costa and a nice Italian if you want to sit down for a coffee or meal. Security could be better though.
C. P.
Great the Library has reopened.
Shame The Strawberry Tavern doesn't accept dogs!
As a non car owner seems the signs are confusing.
Needs a complete update as Whiteley did.
Looking a bit shabby.
A. M.
Love the market on Saturday!
Choice of cafes .
My kids love to spend time in the library.
W. C.
Good parking. Nowhere special to eat. Only Waitrose. Other shops include: Cook (great quality frozen meals), McCalls newsagents, Subway, Soothills bakery, a charity shop, a coffee shop and a pub.
A. D.
A good group of shops for food shopping, hardware and chemist. Avoid Post Office. Always a long queue. Really badly organized.
M. M.
Poor signal but has a waitrose, Iceland, Mcolls, 3 charity shops and a post office. Its is very useful to live near but I rate it only 3 stars due to the parking being frustrating and not disabled friendly.
m.
Friendly area and a good vast array of shops plus loads of free parking, so a must visit.
H. C.
Love this shopping area, so much variety and casual cafes for all ages and preferences.
k. W.
Lovely place to shop
C. S.
Nice local shopping centre. Varied mix of shops and occasional markets, plant stall, craft markets etc.
J. R.
We came to the Waitrose and Iceland here
H. W.
We love this place as it's a friendly wide range of community shops including a Waitrose with a cafe area. The staff in Waitrose were very helpful so we'll definitely be going back again.
f. J.
Recently rediscovered this shopping centre. IMPRESSED for a local village feel centre beats stubbington hands down. The Strawberryfields Tavern is great offers tasty healthy lunches we tried flatbread it was fresh out the oven doughy fab. Soothills bakery can't miss the cheese straws. Cook shop ready meals that are home made ideal for a treat a party or just cos u want someone else to cook for you. Free parking for up to 3 hours and a buzzing village atmosphere. Hairdresser, butcher, hardware, Wine shop, chiropractor, gift shop, kitchen n bathroom design. Need I say more.
D. N.
All ways very clean and not to bisy
T. W. (.
Very good
N. B.
The bakers is done properly, one in one out no masks, no service..unlike a few bakers in the area which money comes first, but hopefully their fines will come
S. M.
Great place to get a few things. It has a Waitrose for food and drink, a post office, Halifax bank, and Costa coffee. The meat from Grover butchers is incredible.
M. S.
A lot of independent retailers here. Shops are fairly relevant to the area. Fairly high prices in most of the shops but that is reflective of the community it is within. Large Waitrose is the focal point of the area.
J. F.
Love the charity shops
M. S.
Ok Suthills brilliant
A. H.
Sweet shopping Village, lots of different stores and shops. I like coming here.
c. h.
Easy parking but didn't really use it for shopping.
d. S.
Small and relatively limited choice of shops, but otherwise very good. Plenty of free parking, nice pub too.
D. G.
Great has an butchers, post office, waitrose, post office etc. Nice if you don't want the hassle of a superstore shopping.
J. B.
Nice little shopping place I like looking at Charity shops there the bakery is amazing
M. B.
A good variety of shops and 2 well known supermarkets. A very busy little square during the daytime. Car parking can get pretty busy at peak times.
a. c.
Very handy for numerous shops, chemist and post office etc. Free parking too
J. W.
Ok if you want to get food in or have your hair done. Chemist, card/gift shop, Iceland, Waitrose, wine shop, bakers, butcher, charity shops. More shops than I have mentioned.
R. T.
LHSC contains
The UK’s most frustrating Post Office
The best Indian around
The saddest ironmongers
(Needed a funnel today and they had some for which I was grateful but despite an enormous range the place was deserted, needs a rethink on pricing and promotion!!!)
The most sparkly Iceland
The most inattentive card shop
A wonderful Chemist
A Real “in branch” bank
A bread shop, not patisserie standard
Dry cleaners
And WAITROSE who replaced the Soviet Style COOP putting £10k on the value of my house.
D. W.
A great local place to shop. Everything you need in one place. Plenty of options to meet and eat. All traders give great customer service and the ambience at the centre is a feel good shopping experience.
L. B.
Nice place have quite a few shops you can look in or sit outside for a coffee
D. R.
Perfect shopping location. Has major retailer outlets and a lovely balance of local independent shops.
A. M.
Not much here but nice place to grab a little bite from the bakery and a coffee from costa
M.
A nice village vibe, the bakers is a good place for a coffee and a cake at a reasonable price. Quiet enough to relax but some nice shops to look in.
J. M.
Went there to Iceland to stock the freezer up,and this is my nearest one.Have been to Locksheath shopping centre once before about 3 years ago. Also visited Waitrose which was o.k.but prefer my local Tesco.
L. H.
Great variety of shops - everything you need in one including bakery, butchers, chemist, post office as well as waitrose and iceland.
C. W.
I only usually visit Waitrose when I go here, but there is a selection of smaller shops to visit, and there is usually no problem with parking.
D. H.
Lovely little shopping village. Child parking available but very limited number of spaces. Went to little big village which is great :-)
M. M.
So many good shops, didn't know how good it was despite living 5 minutes away!
Will be shopping here more often
V. H.
A good selection of shops, pharmacy, post office, bank, hardware, butchers, coffee shops and bakery and a great waitrose supermarket. Free parking all very convenient.

Nice addition to the shopping ctr .u can supercharge the car and grab a coffee.
J. L.
It's a fairly relaxed place, ideal for an afternoon coffee followed by buying something nice for dinner. Not really a place to go for a new outfit or anything though, it's not full of highstreet shops.
D. P.
Nice little shopping centre clean tidy some good independent shops Ashwell as Waitrose
J. A.
Waitrose as you might expect. Hardware shop behind very pricey. Parking very good.
K. B.
Has a little of everything for your shop, can even book a holiday, get your hair done, buy a wedding dress, highly recommend the butchers as the produce is outstanding

G. C.
Like it here lots of parking nice shops, and very good waitrose
K. H.
Always very busy, lovely local markets, becoming taken over by large chains.
Y. P.
Small shopping village with a lot of shops. Deceptive on arrival. Pleasant shopping experience though.
F. H.
Ok range of shops, felt safe as only a certain amount of people allowed in each at one time
A. S.
Easy parking, and a good selection of shops. Also, there is a nice pub which serves food too.
P. H.
Nice little shopping area, a good assortment of shops & services, really good butchers & bakers
N.
Mad parking lot -directions on floor mean nothing to some ppl-ended up having a breakfast in the bakery/cafe down at the bottom -dont be in a rush tho -the staff arnt quick at serving you! Filled a gap!
G. F.
Very quaint area, almost takes you back a few years in design. Although not all the shops and you may automatically go in they are definitely all suited to the location.
F. F.
Love this place and it has most of what you need. I especially like the 2 charity shops there as my kids love the toys and it is such a bargain.
S. G.
This is a lovely little shopping centre but has everything you need all nice and compact
A. C.
Good small shopping centre with a good range of quality shops and service outlets Including Waitrose.
K. G.
It has got all the shops you need for day to day shopping. It has a sand beach for kids in summers. There is a library, dentist and plenty of eating joints.
M. P.
Large Waitrose supermarket plus many small shops. Open air layout. Very good free parking.
B. 6.
A hidden gem, Waitrose for if you love to pay twice the price. Iceland for the bargains and lots of lovely boutiques.

S. H.
Good anti covid systems in place. Most people following them well. Strange car park one ways though!!
M. B.
Great little shopping centre with Waitrose and a Costa etc. Parking can be a bit tight on busy days.
C. B.
Plenty of parking but I was there during lockdown. Normally difficult to find a disabled space
L. C.
A bit dated , but new places are being added , a few empty shops recently , and I always think the pedestrian area is always under used , sand pit in the Sumner and a midweek market , Christmas fayre is nice .
R. D.
Great local shopping centre.
If only there was as many parent and child parking spaces as blue badge parking spaces.
T. E.
Nice space with good amenities plus some unusual bonuses like the pilates studio and Gym plus usual shops and good access to cakes and Gin
E. K.
Great shopping selection in a convenient location - why fight the crowds and traffic somewhere busier?
D. H.
Went to Waitrose Locks Heath to get a prawn 🦐 mayo sandwich for lunch. No stock there Monday and Tuesday. Not impressed.
L. B.
Not enough disabled parking bays no pet shop others ok
The chemist will not let assistance dogs in without id but all other shop will My sister could not get her prescription as she had her medical alert dog with her
S. R.

A. R.

I. S.
Great place to shop, Soothills bakery is the place for a good all day breakfast. Parking can be a challenge though.
L. D.
Lovely day, there was a nice French market on. And it's generally a very nice little shopping centre to visit.
R. “. C.
Car park is mayhem, but the shopping experience otherwise is really pleasant - nice shops from browsing and buying
