Reviews of The Guildbourne Centre
S. G.
The centre is looking much better then the last time I walked through. Interesting shops and colourful bunting up gives the place a bit of life. If you haven't been in there for a while definitely go for an explore of the new shops
E. A.
An incredible place to shop and enjoy your day! perfect for parking with a huge multi story car park right next door! From toys, treats and clothing to work and fitness, the Guildborne centre has something for everyone! one of my favourite places to go in sunny Worthing!
M. P.
For the first time in years Guildbourne Centre is full, there’s a wide verity of shops, Chocolate, gin, gifts, charity shop CAFE a great butchers at escape rooms a casino a really cool clothes shop which also sells Nike trainers amongst other things we needed to buying loads of bits oh and some lovely aftershave to - yes the centre it’s self it’s a bit dated but good things are coming you need to give us a visit and see the fab places inside
R. R.
Fantastic to see all the shops filled. It's a long time coming. So nice to see the centre looking like it's come to life. Amazing clothes shop, cafe, chocolate shop, gift shop, toy shop, buthcers and many more. So impressed
s. h.
Still a shame nothing has been done with this and tbh the whole of Worthing town centre. Lots of opertunities to improve Worthing yet offices or houses are built where really there should be public accessible recreational activities, cinema etc. Don't live there any more so maybe it's happening but looks worse than late 80s!
G. M.
We only visit this place on the way from the car park to the town centre. Frankly, it looks a bit tired and lifeless. A shame; so much more could be made of it.
M. P.
Went to the Guildbourne on Saturday for the Summer Fair, the place was buzzing, never seen so many people, the businesses had all clubbed together to hire the Reptiles and put on a fab event with free lego, chocolate making, there was a market and loads more ..the place was alive
M. R.
Frequented BDR on a Saturday to purchase some kit for our newly minted Air Cadet.
Owner very helpful with advice on sizing, required uniform and guided us through, as we're novices, without any hard sell.
Due to the Ukrainian situation a couple of items not in stock in MOD surplus form (in the required sizes) but were ordered in as new & available 3 working days later at reasonable prices.
Final positive was the offer that if any item turned out to be the wrong size it would be exchanged and if anything was no longer required they would buy it back to restock.
D. M.
I've always wondered why this is called a shopping centre it more a parade of shops it has the gym and butchers and backs on to the wilko centre also has photo booths toy barnabus and charity shops I also understand what the centre owner has put about having a roof as I have worked at the elephant and Castle shopping centre London canary wharf which has 3 shopping centres and Eastbourne arndale centre which is what I meant by referring to the size of it rather than the shops which I listed well.
R. P.
A few good shops but not used to it's full potential could offer a lot more but it is what it is a prime place 😃
C. G.
We had a fantastic day at The Guildbounre Centre Summer Fair, the kids got to stroke a snake and a bearded dragon, they made some chocolate & had there faced painted what a Wonderfull day, Thankyou
R. S.
Well done to all the businesses for putting on such a fantastic event on Saturday, it was great to see the centre so busy
D. C.
A white elephant in the history of Worthing which has struggled to attract the right retailers. However recently this has improved and with the ample parking above I hope things will improve.
S. C.
Looking good as the few empty shops are now full again and the last one is being remodeled. A place where there are a number of small independent shops with a security guard walking around the place.
P. H.
I mean ,what can I say. So much more could be done to improve this space. I personally like it's brutalist design but it feels like a glorified subway tunnel at times, even down to the smell, BUT........ there are a number of really great, small, local businesses in and around the centre, so don't let the appearance put you off.
D. M.
It's a tiny shopping centre but got some good shops in it, but worthing in general is a nice place to live
K. C.
Sadly the centre is in a state of many shutdowns which renders it a shadow of it's former self. Great reasonably priced butcher's, cafe and couple of other little outlet's still going. But for Wilko's and the multi storey car park above don't think people would use it.
j. l.
Looking a bit sad nowadays with the cost of living increase. I wish them well in expanding the range of shops.
J. R.
A big Wilko in here but not many more shops which is a shame
N. T.
Doesnt really have anything much in there of interest to me. Shame as i think they could so much more with it.
P. A.
I knew it in its early days, it never really reached it's full potential. Too see it now is a sad reflection of what it was planned for and never became. Such a shame that today its a cut thru to the multi storey car park.
M. V.
Everything we needed under one roof and air conditioning was working.
M. N.
Was empty of shoppers but nice
M. K.
A great selection of shops, butcher "Guildbourne Meats", great prices and excellent meat, ie sausages, burgers and BBQ chicken, lamb, pork. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything made by the butcher. All produced in the United Kingdom. I managed to get a BBQ pk for £15. There was so much, have enough to go towards another BBQ. Definitely going there again.
T. W.
Plenty of parking spaces but expensive. Poor town centre shops, looking decimated compared to what it was some years ago. Amazon rules OK. Find what you want online then next day delivery, even on a Sunday. The writing is on the wall. Alas.
S. B.
Looking better. Liked all the jubilee bunting in there
C. C.
Great toy shop.plenty for all ages young and old.
M. “. M. D.
Quite a nice place a gym and few charity shops and a butchers that's very good . Wilko is there too used to be a cafe but closed maybe open in future does need a bench or two. Toilets outside a a bit grim. Need a bit of a facelift .
A. S.
I really like this place, it's tucked away and never very busy, which is unfortunate for them as there are some really good shops there.
S. B.
Best toy shop, has such a good selection for all kids. Staff are very friendly. They always have great deals on the end of the Isle.
D. R.
Always clean & tidy. Butchers very busy. Can have coffee & tea in the cafe. Plus its under cover.
p. b.
Fully covered, this shopping centre could be so much better than it is at the moment. Alot of the units are empty ,this could be down to covid. The big town centre car park's exit and entrance can be reached by walking through this shopping centre. I think there is also a lift.
L. M.
The two charity shops are brilliant and there is a children's toy store. However most of the shops have closed down. It would be nice to see it full again.
D. M.
A bit small and quiet, but there's a great army surplus store, a children's toy shop and some charity shops that I'd recommend. Worth the visit if you're near.
j. w.
Seemed OK, didn't actually shop in there, just cut through from Carpark to Town for shopping.
But there seemed a decent selection of Shops and varied Retailers though.
P. W.
Still as good as the day was built by my dad and other colleges nice to see all those shop's are busy normal 🙂👍🏻🙂👍🏻🙂👍🏻🙂👍🏻🙂
P. G. W.
Good couple of charity shops in here.
P. N.
We need this place to have more shops, so sad to see the decline in the centre. Love going here as all undercover and carpark above
P. S.
It's a tired 1970s little shopping centre that really hasn't had a lot of shops in it for 20 years. Lots of small units that should be a good place for niche shopping, but so many units are constantly empty I expect the owners have their rental prices set too high.
There is a multi story car park built into it, which offers reasonably priced parking in the centre of Worthing, and public toilets which are kept in usable condition.
A. S.
Abit rundown like most 1980s shopping centres. No great anchor stores/shops here anymore. Great parking though.
A. M.
I guess because it was a Sunday the 2 Young staff where busy talking at the counter and where not interested in the customers, please note retail staff this business is dieing, if you don't make the effort to engage or acknowledge your customers it won't be long before the business closes and you lose a job. Plus theirs loads of good people looking for work. A nice selection of toys at good high Street prices but let down with poor customer service.
r. h.
Hardly worth the effort not many shops at all really can't see what's keeping it open to be fair I don't like to sound negative but this could be a nice shopping center if it was done out
A. W.
Not like it was when I was growing up... But I like wilkos
M. C.
Good ,I got every thing I needed and with good service, no waiting.
C. L.
The butcher's is brilliant, excellent quality and friendly helpful staff.
k. j.
Lacking in loads of things this shopping centre is very dated, not fully used and has loads of empty units. The one eating place is reasonably priced but you get sparse amounts. Seems this centre is just a walk through to the main town & better shopping-no draw to brin people in. Needs knocking down & rebuilding very 70's style.
F. C.
A couple of good charity shops, Toybarnhaus, Wilko and Guildbourne meats. Also a perfume shop, jewlery shop and a gym. All on ground level with public toilets and multistorey car park. The Guildbourne centre is a bit tired, could do with a couple of big name highstreet shops to bring people in - a Primark on the 1st floor would be ideal. Also, a good coffee shop.
B. R.
Could do with more shops
N. B.
Unfortunately the centre has become very run down over the years and many shops have left. The entire top floor is no longer in use. Wilko is the main reason I come here and stuff is reasonably priced and there is a lot of choice. There is also a good toy shop.
S. K.
Lots of shops are shutting . Nice little centre clean n convenient
C. W.
Some useful shops inside the centre but needs a lot of love. The whole upstairs is cordoned off and unused and shops are forever closing down in there. Easy to get to with a multistory car park attached and public toilets available. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Right next to the bus stops.
C. B.
Handy for petrol...friendly staff
s. c.
My friend and I had tea and toast late morning. It was ok,
D.
Foodbank is here very helpful volunteers and non judgemental as they should be. They also offer a small amount advice on other services locally.
A. R.
This place used to be terrible but recently a load of new shops opened and this is now a good place to go. Hilights included a great butchers and excellent toy shop. Nice American style cafe too (with pinball!)
J. J.
Went to the butchers in there, they do amazing offers and fantastic and tasty products, really good prices, will be visiting again and hopefully they will open a shop in my area tolworth surrey, would recommend
A. D.
Dissapointing, most of the shops that were here have now gone, nice friendly cafe inside though with reasonable priced food and drink.
I. S.
Good shopping experience, butchers reasonable price. Toy shop, very good cafe with good quality food and good service.
A. S.
Fantastic shopping Centre with a wide range of shops, friendly staff, good parking.
W.
Decent shops, but most that try to open struggle and shut down after less than a year. There's a decent toy range for children in the toy shop and a hair salon that whilst decent for adults, offers far more for kids with the ability to play video games for older kids and watching Peppa Pig for the younger ones. There's also a Wilko, a gym, and some smaller shops like a butcher's and a milkshake bar. It's just a bit disappointing how hard it is to stay afloat there as a business.
A. P.
Small shopping with a nice café inside. Good disabled access.
i. m.
Love the shops here. Fantastic butcher and great charity shops.
V. B.
The Guildbourne Centre needs better quality shops. It has a very nice butcher and Wilko is good but there are too many charity shops. The council should lower their astronomical rates to give shopkeepers a chance.
C. S.
Really not what it used to be. Upstairs used to be full of shops but now it's been boarded up never to see the light of day.
Looks like they are trying to liven the place up a bit with the addition of the new Gym.
It could do with some bigger store chains in there.
My main reason for visiting is for the cheap car park attached to it. Cutting through the Guildbourne Centre is the fastest way to get to the High Street
L. L.
The toy shop in there is good, otherwise it’s an very empty place
M.
Given how many shops that remain it's ok. Hopefully it will improve with time. Wishing all the traders good luck!!
R. E.
Little under ued. But some smallish but interesting shops
M. S.
Excellent shopping experience many outlets to choose from
P. J.
Shopping Mall well supported by shoppers as a day out or serious shopping. Plenty of Car Parking in surrounding area.
P. J.
Step back in time and visit what must have been a once, glorious shopping center. Sadly hardly any shops left and it feels very unloved. Nice little touches here and there for the children still while walking through. Generally though the shops that are there are ok.
W. V.
While the centre has lost favor in resent years with the loss of gateway/sommerfield the centre still has some great shops like the butchers and wilko. It is a great shame that the upper sales floor has been closed I used to love having a little drink in the trola bar on a Friday after a later shop.
N. T.
Lots of empty shops , slowly dying , is kind of sad
J. M.
Half the shops are closed, the first floor has never been open and the car park access is filthy.
On the upside, the parking is kinda reasonable and the shops that are there are very friendly.
J. F.
Not many shops but handy for parking (above) with clean and efficient lift. Couple of charity shops which are worth a visit.
P. S. M. T.
It's a bit quiet atm. But I actually went to Wilkos, which is a bleedin fabulous shop. And unlike other shops atm actually has stuff on shelves.
A. P.
Wilko do their own version of lego and although the final product we were building was good, it just wasn't lego! Very sharp edges, and very stiff to put together, not easy for younger kids. Still we did it and digger/dump truck are well played with, worth the tenner.
L. H.
Visited wilcos in the centre. Easily accessible in my mobility scooter. Didn't go anywhere else in centre. On street parking near by (Ann street) and multi story within a few mins walk. Undercover which is good in bad weather! Shame not more popular shops within there.
L. W.
Had a lovely time walking round the shops.
g. H.
Theres a little cafe in here. The boys say the food is " better than Macdonald's " high praise indeed! I really enjoy the food here, simple clean and tasty. Staff are incredibly thoughtful
A. T.
Not bad easy to shop there also parking was great
Z. B.
I think guildbourne shopping center is so big and wonderful and very colourful and the shops in the there is so cheap there I really really love it there u can go in your own little world when you hear music that's it your in your own world and its so lovely .I always feel like a little girl again every time I go to guildbourne shopping center .so come on down and see the shopping center in the guildbourne
C. K.
It has multiple shops within, especially a nice butcher's . It also collocated with a nice 5 storey carpark.
S. T.
The Guildbourne centre is in Worthing it has a big Wilko's and a lot of small independent shops one being a butchers who's meat deals are great, there's also a nice little cafe where you can buy meals or a light lunch very reasonably priced
N. T.
Wilko's is a great shop for bargains, my son goes to the gym here too.
T. S. C.
love all of the shops but i mainly go here for the butchers and doctor health
N. A.
Too many shops are empty especially the upstairs space but what there is there is exceptionally good a wonderful Butcher and a new children's hairdressers with a special theme for the children and of course Wilkinson's which usually has everything you need I love the guildbourne centre
C. J.
Is just okay to quick way .no one seat to seat down relaxed drinks a drop of water from your own bottle .security stop you.
M. C.
Have used wilcos many times and witnessed people have many complaints wow why a lot of it is there inpatients and cant.wait in a que like most of us
r. g.
Not bad
J. W.
This place although a little dilapidated is still a great starting point for shopping in Worthing, it has a carpark conveniently situated next to it, public toilets, nice selection of indoor cafes and shops, great space for the kids to run around if the weather's not great.
C. B.
Took my grandson for a hair cut. Usually he screams but today he didn't. The hair dresser was so nice amd calm spoke to him and occupied him. Many thanks I'll be bringing him back
M. D.
Bit of a sad place, compared to what it was.
Only the ground floor open - just.
It is a cut through from the multi storey car park into the town centre.
j. w.
Has a lot to offer there is a restaurant and a meat shop which is very reasonable plus other stores and of course there is Wilkinson's where you can get almost anything you need from housewares health and beauty to a bit of food and they also do the lottery worth a visit if you are in Worthing
V. H.
Always clean looking.
C. H. Y.
Lots different toys for kids
And butcher with good offer
Also have cafe you can sit down have a rest while you are doing shopping
J. M.
I really only use this place for the car park, Guildbourne meats for their amazingly meaty deals, and Wilko's for anything else.
D. V.
I don't hate this place I like it all the shops are clean and tidy the staff are all polite and helpful there is toilets for disabled and other people it's a nice place to get meals all sorts of things to do there
J. W.
At first, this shopping mall looks unusually empty for a town centre. It has the atmosphere one experiences when turning up to a village fête late, when nearly all the stands have been taken down, and the burger van only has a few warm cans of supermarket own-brand fizzy drink. But when you look further, you find an excellent discount butcher, a classy lighting shop, a large branch of Wilco, and an interesting charity shop with a cabinet full of old cameras and projectors. The building is also home to More Radio, which broadcasts a commercial but truly local radio service including proper local news.
F. S.
A bit faded. But better than many similar centres. Car park very crowded but number plate recognition system very good and much better than finding or losing a ticket
R. S.
An aesthetic eyesore from the outside, inside the Guildbourne is improving due to the new arrival of a gym, toy shop, milkshake shop and others that are taking over the previously empty units. Worth a visit to check out the shops, although avoid the gents lavatories like the plague. They are revolting, they make the toilet in the movie 'Trainspotting' look like The Ritz.
M. G.
Needs more stores. Too many empty lots. However, great wee breakfast cafe, a Wilko's and the best butcher I've found so far in sussex
T. H.
Such an under utilised shopping centre.
It actually has a top floor but it has never opened all the time I have lived in Worthing
Needs some more well known shops to move in to get more people in
D. C.
Got great toys for all ages and lots if them
j. N.
Sadly not as buzy as it used to be,few remaining shops under one roof ,
B. B.
Worthing is a great place to visit. Good atmosphere with lots of eating choices. Close to beach.
J. S.
There used to be more shops to choose from but it seems they are coming back slowly
S. G.
Some useful shops, but always feels a bit "unfinished" inside, like it's a work in progress. Wear a jacket as it's not usually heated in the common areas.
T. B.
Good butchers, plenty of choice and great value.
M. R.
Some good shops but needs sprucing up.
A. S.
Looks little bit like the scenery of post apocalyptic video game. Little creepy although not for any particular reason. Wilko and toy store are great.
K. H.
Only went to peacocks and it was just as good as normal. The manager and staff are always professional and helpful. So pleased it's reopened.
K. M.
I work for brent Lodge charity shop in the guild Bourne centre and I enjoy working there, I would like to see more customers and donations for this wildlife charity. I see the work they do for the hedgehogs and foxes and baby birds. Please help if you can. We would all appreciate your support.
A. W.
Miss Mollys milkshake shop is probably the best thing that has happened in this place it attracted attention to the guildbourne which got businesses interested such as the new Gym (Gym Hub) and the hair dressers (snip itz) plus parking is only 1pound
E. W.
Amazing butchers, the meat is always perfect and the marinades are a real treat, Wilkos is always great, cute bag shop, very well prices with a huge selection, lighting shop that has everything, and again well priced, Madonna sells amazing smelling perfume, the guildbourne grill does salads as well as fried food and again reasonably priced, miss mollys sells amazing milkshakes, the Chinese holistic shop sells more than you would believe for a small premises, and a gym shall be open soon with cheap monthly membership! The center is definitely getting better month by month! And £1 an hour parking?! What more could you want :)
R. B.
Great toy shop. Good range and friendly staff who are very helpful.
D. M.
It's OK, not a big selection of shops mainly Wilkes, a toy shop, perfume, butchers, cafe and the hub gym but easy parking and next to main shopping area
N. N.
Its ok as shoppin centres go. Many years ago ther wer alot more shoos in ther. But ther is an awesome butchers in ther. very gud value for your money. My wife goes ther al the time. Id recommend the butchers to evryone
d. t.
Cavernous shopping area/mall. Not many shops but a very good butcher selling meat packs.
N. S.
Good shops and very quiet
J. C.
It's ok. Used to be more vibrant in the 90s (when I was a child) but has sadly dried up. Still has the big Wilko and Toy Shop etc.
A. T.
Has a very desolate feeling to it
P. H.
Always busy with a variety of shops....guildbourne meats are there. A toy shop, a gym, a barbers specifically catering for children's hair cuts, a charity shop.....to name but a few.
S. S.
Overall superb experience.
I. R.
Bit of a disappointing area. Not all units are occupied.btherebis a good butchers and a brilliant toy shop. There is a large Wilco's.
S. P.
It would make a great mall. But not enough businesses use it. That's a shame. There's a whole 2nd floor that's just not used! Blocked off.
B. M.
This centre is very large and with good location. However, many units are not occupied and therefore the surroundings and the facilities have a lot of room for improvement.
S.
Going sadly downhill compared to years ago. Still reasonably clean but choice of shops is reduced. I only go there for the butchers now.
m. m.
Some nice shops, pleasant and clean.
A. B.
Give this little place some love!
X.
guildbourne grill. Best omelette I've had for years and a super lunch.hot choc
b. L.
A large shopping precinct which sadly is rather empty of good shops a sign of the times I suppose
J. W.
Good for grown ups too. Unfortunately not a huge Lego department.
K. W.
We use Wilco and the butcher, and that is all. It seems a lot of waste of units as all the first floor is shut, and has been for a few years.
S. H.
Visited Guildbourne Cafe - lovely food, good coffee and you can sit in or out in the light and airy Centre. Great friendly cheerful helpful staff. Love it!
i. s.
As various shops within the shopping centre ,has a good butchers with some good feals
T. j.
Needs a bit of tlc
A. K.
Very comfortable and enjoyable.
F. B.
One of the best butches in Worthing and very reasonably priced. One of only places you can get boneless minted lamb chops.
G. P.
Most shops have now reopened and it was nice and quiet.
G. D.
I moved to Worthing two weeks ago and visited the shopping centre three times.
It's great to be able to shop so close to home.
Thanks. G
C. F.
Needed a passport photo in order to renew my driving licence and I knew there was a photo booth there
A. W.
Most of the time it is quiet and there isn't allot to fo here apart from the fact that it's a direct entrance to he heart of the town
C. D.
Quiet as in Lockdown v2. Sensible queueing for butchers, security at entrance ensuring distancing and masks.
S. L.
A useful selection of shops - a Wilkinsons, a nice cafe and a good butchers - and all conveniently placed centrally in the town, just beneath the multistorey car park.
J. C.
Sunday visit most stores closed, went to a retro music shop full of Elvis memorabilia, old 60s coffee bar great.
M. S.
Went in to miss mollies milkshake bar it was like going back in time amazing service amazing drinks thank you very much I enjoyed my stay their listening to good music for a change
T.
It's not what it used to be. The shops that are there are mostly ok, but it's not worth the trip to just visit, obviously. Parking is decent prices though.
P. S.
Huge improvements made in the last few months with better retailers and an overall shopping experience. Still work to do but going in the right direction
J. P.
To be honest I wouldn't bother to visit the shopping centre if it wasn't for the fact it houses Wilko! The centre is a mess but it's always worth visiting Wilko
J. E.
Unfortunately the only useful store is Wilko at present, will other stores ever reopen?
B. B.
Seems to be a lot better then a few years ago grate hair dressers for kids, milkshake place and toy shop
M. F.
Quaint and bit old fashioned - nice little jewelry and card shop, bag shop with a huge selection, old school lighting shop, excellent butchers, odd mix of charity shops, decent cafe with friendly staff, huge Wilko and looks like something interesting going on in the old Super Market
j. l.
No good hotwheels
O. M.
So much more could be done with this place. It has a nice vibe to it and it is very clean. A big indoor place which could really be used for more .
D. B.
Nice little shopping centre with a varied shops from cafe to wilkos unfortunately like a lot of these places shops are left empty. Sad to see
K. o. M.
Houses my fav shop. The lighthouse. Expertise on lighting and bulbs. Parking good. Undercover with toilets. Needs modernisation.
M. M.
Could be a good shopping area, but they never get it right
r. w.
Nice shops and the added bonus friendly people that work in them.
T. F.
I like going there, but it seem to change every year a bit, some shops go and new once go in,at least its clean there and easy to find where you like to go
S. J.
Great staff, lovely large toy shop with something for everyone, all ages. Just like the toy shops used to be.
J. S.
A lot of the shops were closed but have now been re let so it is looking much better.
D. D.
The toy shop is great and the parking is pretty cheap for the centre of Worthing. Great place to park up and then go on to explore the rest of the Worthing shops.
J. D.
Mainly independent shops with the exception of Wilko. The smaller independents are great and are well worth a look. Guildbourne meats in particular.
J. R. C.
Past few years it had a lot of shops closed down but now it is starting to feel up and coming with more shops opening
R. M. B.
Small shopping mall; being fitted now with a new gym at the 1st floor; has a WILKO store at ground level; could run some activities inside to promote more tge facilities.
W. b. A.
The mall is a bit dated but it has some nice shops, like the Molly's Milkshakes and charity shops, worth checking it out.
I. Q.
Not alot within the shopping center other than Wilko department store. A butcher shop and a slot machine gaming place. A number of assorted small shops
G. R.
It's a good shop. Generally get what you need.
p. b.
Nice friendly cafe. Quick service n good portions
P. R.
