Always a pleasure to look around in search of a billy bargain. I purchased a really great Haglofs synthetic mid layer,admittedly not in a colour I imagined existed (fluorescent yellow), but was not complaining in the slightest as it was under half price! I wear it regularly and has proved to be an excellent purchase. Ellis Brigham stock some very good kit.

I sometimes have to buy stuff here for scientific fieldwork in the polar regions. Last week I went in to buy a new pair of snow goggles - I emailed in advance about what I wanted and received a rapid reply saying they were in stock. When I got there I realised I had made a mistake about what I needed, and the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable in sorting me out with a different model.

I needed clothing for really cold temperatures and only here and another shop in the area seemed to have good enough stuff. Yes the prices are high, but the cheaper places' clothing weren't good enough for low temperatures, which meant it was the right price for what I needed. I basically bought from here because the customer service from Adam was so good, far better than the other local stores that I had checked out. That's what made it worth it and why I didn't go online. He took the time to give me really good advice, understood the products and was very attentive. I especially like how I didn't feel like I was being sold to and upsold. As a result I bought everything I needed from here and didn't go elsewhere.

Booked a 40 min appointment with a boot specialist and spent about an hour and a half with Harry who assessed my feet for size and pressure. He then took me through various options and I finally opted for boots that were heat moulded to my feet. Goodbye discomfort and pain. This is the second Ellis Brigham shop I’ve visited (the first was in Chester) and both times thoroughly impressed by the friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I shopped here yesterday. I’d gone into Cotswold Outdoors next door first but couldn’t find what I was looking for and nobody was available to help. I then fell upon Ellis Brigham and as soon as I went through the door was greeted and asked if I needed help. I was then handed over to a lovely young man who patiently took me through all the choices of waterproof trousers and fetched me multiple pairs and sizes to try. They have the largest stock not only in London but also in the whole of the UK. Great shop!!!! You can find almost everything at reasonable prices and high quality! !! Most of the top brand names of adventure and travel products have their corner inside this shop. The service is excellent and the staff can help you and explain the use of every product. Almos any question about the products they sell can be answered fast and seriously. There is a real ice climbing ice simulation for training in the shop at the bottom floor. There is a great opportunity to buy special gifts especially for men they like outdoor activities and camping. Visiting this shop you must keep in mind that you're looking for some serious outdoor gear and not some kind of cheep copy and one use products.

Went here to buy trekking backpacks for myself and my husband. Andrew was super knowledgeable, tried quite a few on each of us, and in the end he even filled the backpacks with weights, so that we could walk around the store like we would on a day hike. They were more expensive than if bought online, but it was well worth it, for the kind of service that we received.

I bought my first pair of climbing shoes from a dedicated climbing shop (Rock On @ Mile End Climbing Wall), and have just brought my second pair at Ellis Brigham. Shopping at Ellis Brigham was far superior to my experience at Rock On: Rock On: the assistant seemed more interested in talking with someone who was hanging out at the shop than spending much time with me explaining about the shoes or how they should fit and feel. He may well have been very knowledgable but he didn't engage enough with me to tell. Ellis Brigham: the assistant was obviously very knowledgable and spent a lot of time with me discussing what I wanted, what might be suitable for me, and explaining what the differences were between the models. Rock On: Once the assistant had decided that the 2nd pair I'd tried on fitted (from watching me standing on a hold and not asking me very much) he didn't really want to bring out any more shoes (I probably should have been more insistent; wish I had been). Elis Brigham: I was offered a lot of different shoes to try from various manufacturers. When I asked to try on others it was no problem at all. I was left to spend well over an hour wearing the shoes I was interested in to check that they didn't become painful on extended wearing. Rock On: Came away with a not great fitting pair of shoes that were painful when worn for more than half an hour. When I got home I found out they were the previous years model (would have been nice to have at least been told this before purchase) and were sold to me for more than I could have got the current years model for from pretty much anywhere online. Felt like my beginneryness had been preyed upon. Ellis Brigham: Came away with a tight, solid feeling pair of shoes. Have climbed in them and they are great. Very happy to have paid slightly more than if I'd brought online as the service was excellent. They do price match btw, I didn't want to as the service was so good. Overall verdict Rock On: 2/10 - they got 1 for actually selling climbing shoes and another 1 for being a physical shop I could try things on at. I realise (hope) that my experience is probably not the norm or they probably wouldn't be a viable business. Also I was initially recommended to buy from there by someone who's views I respect. Ellis Brigham: 9/10 - would have been 10 but there were a couple of models they didn't have my size in which would have been good to try. Ellis Brigham - couldn't recommend them enough: thank you so much, well worth the trip into London.

I went there to look for some lightweight, breathable jackets that can work well to block light-medium wind and will keep me dry when it's raining. I was greeted warmly by the staff on the first floor and a young lady showed me around. She got me introduced to a couple of good brands and then encouraged me to check for more in their lower level. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. On the lower level, I was helped by a young, dynamic Sales Assistant by the name Jack Olive, and he showed me a lot of good brands. I was particularly interested in North Face and he showed me a lot of stuff there. He spent a good 30-40 minutes showing me some of the best available jackets. He wasn't pushy at all and was very patient. Unfortunately, the size and colour that I was looking for were not available in-store but Jack was patient in helping me understand how to order online and collect in-store. Kudos to the team at Ellis Brigham, Covent Garden, London. Hard-working, friendly and knowledgeable staff! Highly recommend them and their team.

Absolutely incredible service from the staff in this shop today: a warm and helpful staff member greeted us at the door as soon as we entered and helped us to find a staff member to advise us, a friendly and helpful female sales assistant gave us great advice on trekking boots and finally Des R, just so knowledgeable and patient, a true expert who helped us find the perfect bag and the perfect boots. If you want great customer service and advice, come here! I bought a snowboard, binding and boots the other week and Andrew was fantastic in helping me choose what I wanted. I came three times in total (once in January when I wasn't sure yet what to get and then twice in April when I actually got the board) and Andrew took a lot of time to talk me through the different boards and helped me choose my perfect one (aptly called the Dreamcatcher :)) and recommended binding and boots as well. I don't usually leave reviews but it was such a great experience (and they had a good range to choose from as well). If I need another big piece of outdoor equipment I would definitely come back here!

Very impressed by staff (Ryan and Dez R) for their assistance and knowledge, credit to the firm. I went in today looking to invest in a pair or B2 boots. I have been doing a lot of research and thankfully they had a boot in stock on my list and in my size. While you can get boots cheaper online, I headed to EB and ended up with hiking boots that fit perfectly. Des the the department manager took over from the person helping me and was incredible. He measured the width of my feet and found many more options (there's loads more than are on display) and made me use the test ramp and then walk up/down the stairs of the shop. My boots have already been tested hiking in Vietnam and I couldn't be happier.

Very good experience buying a pair of walking boots. The assistant, Gopal, was friendly and happy to take a great deal of effort to make sure we got a pair of boots that fit very well, and to check that they did. Much better than some duff advice I have received in Snow+Rock previously. I have also found that the end of season clearances provide a good opportunity to pick up some good quality gear with discounts.

You can tell this is a really well-managed store. If you compare this store with some other outdoor stores nearby, the difference is striking. It's got a really good range of products, the layout changes a lot, but is always clear. But most importantly, I really like the staff here. The staff here are genuinely nice and helpful. They are neither like Snow+Rock staff who patronise you with their opinion on what you should get, nor Cotswolds staff who really don't know what they are talking about. Everyone here seems to be friendly, earnest, honest, but also really knowledgeable about outdoor stuff. Every time I'm in this store, someone helps me. Every time I'm in Cotswolds, all the staff are helping the customers buying the most expensive waterproof boots they will wear once.

I went to all the outdoor shops on Southampton St looking for a large hiking bag. Ellis Brigham had by far the best selection. The hands down best thing about the shop is Gopal, Its very rare that you meet someone like him. He's an incredibly nice guy who really knows his stuff. He isnt pushy in anyway and gives first class advice. Not only will i take his advice on the bag, ill also go bag to get his perspective on the other bits of kit that i need and buy all my stuff from there.

I went in to Ellis Brigham Covent Garden with my boyfriend at the weekend to start preparing for our round the world trip. We were feeling a little bit unsure where to start so lucky for us, Gopal was there to give us his expert advise! He spoke from experience of his own travels and he was so passionate about what he does! He helped pick the best rucksacks and pretty much everything else we'd need for our trip, showed us how everything fitted, as well as giving us little tips on places to go and see while on our trip :) He gave honest opinions for what would be best for our trip and didn't try and up sell at any point. I have visited a lot of outdoor gear stores before, but none have compared to my excellent experience at Ellis Brigham - Covent Garden, It was easy to navigate, I was after some Hiking shoes and was greeted by Gopal, who was straight away friendly and asked if he could help, he first asked where I would be traveling and what I would need the shoes for so that he could work out and finalise 3 pairs for me, he was also brilliant, because I have problematic feet and need orthopaedic support and he was able to identify this before I even mentioned it! as he had a background in Physiotherapy. We then tried on each shoe, multiple times with different adjustments (extra insoles, Lace Locks etc.) and with a few more questions and heaps of information from Gopal which I feel is the most important thing you need when buying outdoor gear, I picked the pair, which were the best for me and at no point did he try to up-sell the most expensive pair, which made me feel so much more comfortable during my time there, so Thank you Gopal! I certainly recommend going there and asking for him specifically!!

I cant speak highly enough about this shop and their staff. I randomly Poped into this shop whilst in Covent garden, i was having a quick browse looking for backpacks to take on me and my partners RTW trip in November. Much to my fortune i was greeted by Gopal like many others have said he is one of the nicest people you could wish to meet and a true asset to Ellis Brigham and his passion and knowledge of world travel is amazing and inspiring. Gopal turned what was me browsing whilst early for a meeting into organising a day for me and girlfriend to come back in to the shop. We visited last Saturday and Gopal took us through everything we could possible need to know and would need for our trip, He expertly fitted both of our backpacks and help us make the right choice for our individual shapes and height. There were often many options to chose from and we were talked through the Pros and cons of all them allowing us to make an informed decision. In the end we left the shop in the position where we could jump on a plane tomorrow and basically have everything we would need. Gopal and Ellis Brigham made what i was thinking was going to be one of the most stressful elements of my trip easy and i will be recommending to anyone going travel that they visit.

Went here for the Vertical Chill Ice Climbing. It was good fun the ice wall was around 2 storeys tall, high enough to give you a good go at climbing the wall. The wall had a ledge which was in development, should be complete soon enough. The total time per session was 1 hour, with 2 people in the session. Only one person is able to tackle the wall at a time. The staff were great, helpful by giving tips when climbing, and also trying their best to help make it much more challenging. Started with 2 ice picks going up the standard path, moving onto 2 ice picks over the part with a ledge and finalising with trying to go up the standard path with only 1 ice pick. After the experience we were given a card, which if 3 sessions are taken then the 4th is free. Will definitely do it again, overall would recommend to others.
