The best service I have ever received. Thanks to John who spent the best part of an hour assisting me, trying on multiple shoe brands and sizes. I didn't once feel pressured to make a decision, if fact John was prepared to take as long as it took to ensure the shoes were perfect. I had never heard of Hoka but have ran 10-15mile runs since and they are an absolute dream. Thanks John you have gained a new loyal customer.

Recently visited the shop for the first time and was greeted by John. I am progressing through a 5k programme from not running at all and was suffering from aching legs and shin splints. John sat with me and went through everything in great detail, assessing how I run and stand. John showed me 4 different pairs of shoes and didn’t overwhelm me, allowing me to try each pair on and run in them behind the shop. Had my first run at the weekend and the issues I was having have completely gone. Popped into northern runner this morning to try some new road shoes. Michelle the assistant gave me a few pairs of Brooks ghost & Brooks adrenaline gts to try out. Her knowledge of the products & the needs I required were spot on, but she asked if I would be purchasing today & I replied just passing through & trying for size she immediately took the shoes away & didn't seem to be interested & went out the back not to be seen again. I've always found the staff to be exceptional especially John who I have dealt with before. I found this very unusual & not what to expect from the staff.

Excellent service all round. I wasn't sure what I needed and several members of staff took me though all the options and explained the differences. It's great to have an option to try everything out in their covered walkway behind the store and see what works for you. They were really patient while I decided between the final two pairs and, having done three runs with them, the pain in my knee and hips has disappeared. Can't recommend highly enough.

Highly recommended, in fact I cannot speak highly enough. We went in because my wife needed some trainers. She had been advised by her physio to get a proper fitting to counter some issues she has with fit and support. From the outset the help we got was excellent. The chap sat her down and went through everything then looked at her posture and balance. He then recommended a solution and found a few options to try. The first pair he brought out happened to be perfect but he still made sure she tried other options just to make sure. He then suggested some insoles for her current walking shoes to make them more wearable and comfortable. In the end we left with a brilliant pair of trainers, insoles and I got some new running gear. Prices are good bearing in mind you are getting top-quality gear backed up by professional and very friendly advice. There is no doubt that we will be going back. Thanks, you were awesome👍

I got a gait analysis, to help aid me getting the right pair of trainers. I've got high arches, and I've found it quite difficult getting a pair that doesn't have knock-on impacts elsewhere. Staff was very helpful, explained very well, the benefits of different trainer types and gave me the opportunity to try them out, pointing out how they've helped. Anyone who does running should consider this shop, as the expertise and the customer service is second to none I've experienced.

I went to have some trainers fitted at Northern runner. I recommend calling in if you need someone with knowledge of and experience fitting running shoes. The gentleman who served me, Mr F Lavender I believe, had a lovely customer manner. He informed me I was not the size I thought I was in running shoes and what pronation and gave me some good options detailing what features I required.

Excellent shop, after having gait analysis at 2 different shops and years of pain and blisters I want to Northern Runner who rechecked my gait and recommended a pair and now I finally have shoes that work for me and after 12 months I'm still pain and blisters free. Plus they were one of the cheapest pairs in the shop. I subsequently returned and got some trail shoes and had exactly the same brilliant experience, have bought all my shoes from them since.

Not being a runner but wanting to give it a go I was recommended by friends to go to Northern Runner for advice on trainers. I have arthritic knees so needed something that would minimise they impact on my knees. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the assistant and the advice I was given by him. Following a gait analysis I had a choice of three types of trainer. He took time to explain the workings and benefits of each trainer and helped me with my final choice. I’m so pleased with the support and comfort of my chosen pair. I will definitely return.

I'm lucky enough to live nearby! I actually found Northern Runner through a web search for Altra running shoes. I phoned up and spoke to the team, who were very helpful and then I purchased online without going into the store. A very smooth process with quick delivery and great customer service. As I live relatively nearby, I went in for my next purchase to get some advice and try out a different pair of run shoes. The team in the physical store were again very helpful and knowledgeable. We had a good chat about the shoes and also Amsterdam marathon! Whether you are buying online, or in store, I can recommend Northern Runner for great products and excellent customer service.

Great style of gait test and great test track out the back to try on the different shoes. Staff were friendly and really gave the time to try on all shoes in their stock which they recommended. Northern Runner contacted me straight away to advise me that there was a stock issue (these things happen!) and offered me an apology and an alternative shoe instead. Needed a new pair of running shoes, first time I shop in this place. I am very impressed with the whole experience. The shop itself is a bit dated and tired looking but the person who looked after me clearly knows how to get the right running shoes for me. It is like customer service how it should be, friendly, knowledgeable, non-judgemental, efficient and approachable. The person who served me is clearly a runner himself so he knows what I wanted. Great running shop, with a good long corridor to test shoes in, and patient, knowledgable staff. Above all they stock Altra shoes! Altra shoes have absolutely saved me and kept me running, when all other shoes were causing me metatarsal problems, but they aren't available everywhere. Good price on the pair I bought here.

Amazed by how good the service was with Northern Runner. I had never used them before, but was interested in trying some Hoka's and a web-search highlighted them. Bought for a very good price. Free postage, arrived quickly. Unfortunately the Hoka's are too narrow for my feet so had a phone chat with the in-store staff who were very helpful. Decided to return for a refund and start again. Sent them on Friday and had a paypal refund by Saturday Afternoon. Amazingly good service. I would definitely use them again

I have bought a lot of shoes from Charlie at Northern Runner. This year I have been running in Altra Paradigm and I had a problem with premature sole wear on one of the lugs. Because I had bought 3 pairs of these from him - without hesitating; he immediately reimbursed me for this pair of Altras and even more impressive - he arranged with the US to ship me a pair of the Olympus to try - as the sole is a different design on this model. What fantastic old school customer service! Charlie is a very knowledgeable dude and very wiling to give you the benefit of his experience. I have bought a lot of shoes from him but with charlie he has been the same even with the first pair of shoes you buy.
