Had a lovely shopping experience today with Finn who helped me pick out a new pair of running shoes. I’m a novice when it comes to running and Finn was really knowledgeable, patient and friendly. He showed me different options and took the time to make sure it was the best possible fit. Finn clearly knows his stuff — from shoes, to running socks, to tips for keeping everything in good condition. Really appreciate the kind help and looking forward to hitting the trails. Buying running shoes here was a great experience - the staff were just genuinely super helpful! They did a complete gait analysis and fitting, then suggested 3-4 pairs all around the same price point for me to choose from (& knew the technical distinctions for each pair). I also got to test each pair out on their treadmill, which was great! I'm super happy with my purchase :)

Was in this store a few weeks ago in the middle of the afternoon, so this review is a little late in coming. I went in to Up and Running in the middle of the day, I think it was a Tuesday or Wednesday. The two lads in there were friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. They walked me through the different brands and types of shoes, understanding what I needed and showing me the options available to me; not only in terms of shoes but also support products to help with muscle and tendon issues. Though the shoes I settled on, weren't in my foot width size, I walked out with the knowledge to order them online. I would have had them order the shoes for me and picked them up, but unfortunately, I was only in Oxford for that day, and this was a spur of the moment drop in. I would recommend them and the store to anyone, who needs advice and prefers proper personal service and interaction over wandering around a warehouse style place where no one asks if you need help and usually have little to no knowledge on the subject. While I was pleased with the service available to check my gait and running style through a computer technology there was one customer advisor who was rude to my friend who simply asked if they had smaller shoe size. The advisor responded coldly to the request explaining such a shoe size wouldn’t be available for trainers and only for children which unnecessarily made us both feel uncomfortable. I had to push back and explain there was nothing inherently wrong with requiring a smaller shoe size! I also tried to ask questions about the pros and cons of each shoes, feeling like i was prying information out of the advisor which was not a pleasant experience.

Went in for some advice regarding whether my running style or shoes were causing blister problems. Super friendly staff looked at my shoes and running gate, identified worn shoes as a problem. I was so pleased with my experience here. My friend had recommended the store as well as reading good reviews online. Went in yesterday to get my first pair of proper running shoes. I naively thought it would be quiet but it seemed everyone wanted new shoes! There was only Pete working (receipt said this was his name). He was brilliant. Not only did he fit me up with a great pair of shoes which correct my gait but he managed to calmly juggle multiple customers on his own and somehow we were all very happy. I’ll definitely be back to get more gear. I highly recommend this store and Pete.

Helpful, efficient, professional and friendly - very happy with the service here. I could get a gait analysis done without needing to make an appointment and they had several different shoes to try on. The staff are limiting the number of people in the shop and are diligent at cleaning and quarantining stock, so it felt Covid-secure too.

I could not recommend this place more highly. The staff are incredibly helpful, they make you feel very comfortable with whatever level of running you are at and will spend hours (!) Making sure you have the right running shoe. I've needed to make exchanges and they were so helpful, no quibble, just the same excellent service. I would never buy a running shoe from anywhere else.

Excellent service from Kevin. Went in on a Saturday to purchase my first pair of trail runners, I was introduced to the Altra brand, and initially wanted a gore tex version. As they didn’t have any in store, Kevin looked on the Altra online store, couldn’t find what I wanted, so promised to call me on the Monday with resolution. He also discussed the pros & cons of gore tex with me and suggested I research further. He rang back on Monday as promised (no gore tex) but I’d done my research as he suggested & purchased the non gore tex trail runners the following Saturday. Very happy !

I was pleasantly surprised with how quick we found the right fit, so much easier than ordering online and constantly ending up with something that's not quite right. I'd definitely recommend!

Super helpful. Needed new running shoes and got fitted and my form corrected. They will film your foot fall before and after trying each shoe and show you how you're form is being altered. Lots of options and they will also order in and reserve for you to go back and try again if stuff is not in stock right away. It's the only place I go for my running shoes now. Don't scrimp on these things, think of your knees!

Great customer service here. The trainers I was after were not available in store so ?Peter called the Birmingham shop to have something similar sent over for me to try. Staff here are knowledgeable, friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Excellent service: gait analysis, helpful advice from a very knowledgeable bloke, plus some exercises to strengthen my leg after an old injury. I came away with some Mizuno Wave riders, which feel like an extension of my feet and are super comfortable to run in. This was after trying several neutral shoes, with analysis on each pair. My daughter went there too and was similarly impressed. I will be going back for my next pair of shoes.

I visited Up and Running in Oxford today and was extremely pleased with the service I received.The staff used slow-motion photography to capture my movements on a treadmill and in order to help his analysis of my running style and needs - explaining everything very clearly at each stage (equally important, he was not patronising), before providing me with plenty of options and time to try different shoes. I left with a pair that I feel really confident in for my first marathon in a couple of months time, plus a couple of other small bits, for just over £100 - I don't feel this was expensive given the service, and the importance of good kit for a serious long run. To the people who didn't find the staff smiley enough (below) - I can't understand this at all. The chap who helped me wasn't smiling incessantly like some kind of clown but was certainly friendly, polite, and completely professional. Infinitely preferable to some spotty 16 year old grinning at me with no knowledge of the subject. Thoroughly recommended.
