It would be a little more pleasant if the water was warmer, but other than that, we generally have a fairly good visit. The rapids have been closed the last few times we've visited, but when they're open, they are great fun. There's also slides and a whirl/wave pool.

Went here as a family of four. 16 & 7 year old and two adults. Both children had a lot of fun and loved the slides.. lazy river and waves are decent. As you walk in it looks clean and tidy but as you walk through to the changing areas it look tired and the same with inside the pool area.. looks dated and needs to be freshened up. The showers are also tired and dated. The water also looked murky but that could be with the amount of chlorine they put in it. Dad also banged his head quite hard on the outside area, no warning given!!! Personally I think there are too many people allowed in at one time so sometimes felt crowded. Overall we had fun which was the main thing.

I last came here 5yrs ago and I'm so glad to say it's still super impressive. Loads of fun to be had flumes, lazy river, wave machine, spa/hot tub/jacuzzi areas, rapids and a lovely toddler area so the whole family can enjoy. Really well maintained, good amount of staff (life guards) around and the spectator area is very nice too. Lockers and changing rooms well maintained and clean. A lovely family day out.

Was worried after reading all the negative reviews but promised my son we'd go here last year (was packed last year), but pleasantly surprised. Booked online after telephone call. Water was OK. Rapids & flumes- minimal queues. Changing rooms generally clean. Lockers now require a number padlock which we paid £5 for (you can purchase elsewhere) but nice lad on reception helped set it for us. Will definately be returning 😁

The kids love it but you really have to turn a blind eye to all the mould, rust and filth. The stairs to the slides smelt of pee badly and nobody cared when people didn't stand behind the lines. Probably as the ques are so long and the toilets are so poor. Rapids seem to be weaker too and just everything is worn down and old now. Such a shame as the slides are iconic and the kids could spend hours there, I just can't justify that amount of money for disgusting pool conditions.

Went in the leisure pool. Staff have the timings all sorted very well, reception staff all helpful and friendly. Must book if you want to go though and take your own combination padlock for lockers.

Was apprehensive visiting for the first time today after reading reviews.. Was a bit busy and changing rooms could do with more regular cleaning.. Apart from that it was great all flumes and areas open water was warm.. no time limit had a great time with 2 young children.. A bit expensive at 30 pound for 2 adults 2 children.. but still a good day. Also parking is free if you put in your reg in the lobby area.

We travelled 45 minutes to get here as a lot of websites say this is the best around. I generally thought it would be bigger. The water is pretty cold in there, when we finally got to pay (after queuing for 1 hour!) we then got told that the rapids had now broken down and are not open, but flumes were still. I thought it was pretty busy today as loads of people bumping into you but after reading the reviews I don't think today was busy like other days and I dread to think how many more poeple they let in. The changing rooms not very clean, and nowhere to wash yourself after, as all showers are just next to the pool. It has a varity of things to do, 2 flumes, rapids, wave pool, jacuzzi, but it all seems very cramped. All staff we came accross were polite and helpful. My neice really liked the slides luckily the queues were not to bad probably around 5/10 minutes wait maximum each time. Overall an OK time and would come back only if we are in the area. Would be better to have a booking system as people like myself travelling to get there, I'd rather book in advance and turn up at my time slot than have to be waiting around!

Fantastic place! I was a little apprehensive about coming all the way over from the other side of Essex today with my 8 year old girl, after reading some of the reviews, well here is my honest opinion. YES the water is cold, but not freezing, I certainly didn’t see any children with blue lips as some of the over dramatic Karen’s have mentioned, all I see was a lot of kids and adults having a good time. The facilities are clean from the toilets to the changing rooms, I even see a cleaner doing his rounds on the changing rooms. Staff are all super friendly. parking is free if you put your registration in the system (too early to tell if that works but I’m assured it does). The water slides are great fun, queue wasn’t horrendously bad. The outdoor rapids, are ok, not as good as centreparcs, but I never expected that. However they are more that good enough for the price you pay for your session. Price is very reasonable, the one thing with that is 90 minutes still feels a little bit too short. I think possibly 120 minutes would be better. Both me and my little girl could have done another 30 minutes, but that would have been plenty. This is not a “swimming” pool if you intend to do some lengths definitely go elsewhere. This is a fun activity pool and it certainly does meet the requirement of fun. Plenty to do and explore. Oh something else people mentioned was over crowding, well I was there mid day during the school summer holidays and I definitely didn’t find it uncomfortable, busy yes (what would you expect) but not over crowded. Plenty of life guards and they all appeared alert and tentative, ready for action, sorry if my daughter scared the young girl near the lazy river when she screamed daddy lol. She’s more than capable of swimming just a tad dramatic, I saw your face and you looked ready to dive in so I apologise. I do have one negative but it’s just an opinion, the pool area itself is slightly dated and could use a make over, the surrounding foyers and lobbies are very modern, I just think sometime soon during the cold season it could have a refurb. But please don’t alter the layout. Just empty the pool and re do all the tiles (maybe blue) do a little something with the walls. Maybe look for a more lagoon inspired setting then I will give a full 5 stars Overall, a great experience and very positive.

Lovely time today in the rapid water not to packed today was easy changing . . The hot rooms and the cold dip are worth trying and addictive . Nice peaple and staff . Plenty to do with the kids or on your own. The water shoots are fast .

This place hasn’t really changed in the past 20 years that for sure. The staff were friendly, the changing rooms clean but average. Paid hairdryers when it’s already pretty expensive to get in as a family. The pools are ok, have been clearly patched up but lots of fun for the kids. The flumes are only open in the afternoons do can’t comment on how they are these days. Lots of parking with 4 hours free when you put your registration in the iPads

My partner and I brought our 20 month old daughter here for her first swim yesterday. She enjoyed it and the staff were lovely, however, as everyone else has said - the water is really cold in the baby and childs pool. My daughters lips were blue and she was shivering meaning we had to get out early. We were also very cold not just the little one. Its very expensive for what you get.

Freezing!!! Was in there less than an hour & a half before my young children were literally shaking. What is there is great but feel it was a waste of money for how long we were in there. Have been before & it's never been that cold! The water was cold & cold air coming through.

Nice facilities, very crowded, not very clean. There seemed to be paper floating in the baby pool. Leaves in the pool even though there didn't seem to be any windows open and the rapids hadn't started yet so the door hadn't been opened. Random floats just abandoned all around. Locks on the changing rooms where broken and not working. The sink in the toilets near the cafe was falling off the wall, this was reported to an available member of the team, who happily listened and checked out the issue. Nice cafe and good selection.

My children love Colchester leisure pool, so it was first on the agenda for Half Term! They have stopped allowing session bookings so it was a little stressful worrying I might have to take 3 disappointed kids home without swimming- but we got in so all was well. It was a little dirty under foot, but I'm not sure any other pools I've visited have been any better!

So much fun here. The wave pool especially great fun. It can get busy but it's definitely worth a visit. The only thing is we visited to the end of November and it was so so cold. My little one was shivering and her lips went blue so we had to leave early. Needs to be heated a bit better. Otherwise a great family day out

As a child almost 20 years ago I had fantastic memory’s of spending hours of fun at this place. Sadly returning with my own daughter who’s 2 1/2 I can’t say we had the same experience, weirdly very little has changed about the pool in that time, there’s some new water features at stuff added for kids which I imagine would be great we’re the water not so cold. I’ve never seen more shiver kids in once place, my daughter was shivering the whole time in the main pool so we resorted to spending an hour in one of the “hot tub jacuzzis” not that that was honestly much warmer, I’d say that jacuzzi at various points houses up to 70% of the people trying to find some warmth, the bridge across the pool as wel is seemingly closed these days forcing you to walk all the way round the outside to get to the one warm hot tub and honest that place is drafty, I imagine on a hot day in the summer, when the pool building is warm and hot the temperature would be amazing, but for a cold wet day in November, it wasn’t much warmer than being outside

The staff are great, but the leisure pool is in terrible shape. There are paint flakes floating throughout the pool where it is crumbling away from the floor and sides. One week the water sprays aren't working, the following week the wave machine is broken too. It really needs a good rework, because at the moment leisure definitely isn't a part of it.

I used to visit Colchester Leisure Centre when I was little and have been coming here for the last 30 years so I have a lot of fond memories of it. The place hasn't changed much at all which in my opinion isn't a bad thing. In more recent years I have visited with my friends and their kids, and yesterday for the first time with my own little girl. On the whole we had a nice time and our daughter enjoyed the experience, especially the flumes. However it was sad to see the state of the outdoor rapids, I havnt seen them active since I was a child, now they just look neglected. The wave pool inside was as good as ever but it needs repainting badly. The wall toys in the shallow pool could really benefit from being dismantled and cleaned internally, the mould/staining inside is grim to see. It's also worth mentioning the rocks, although are really great looking, are badly placed and are not the greatest idea in my opinion Two quite negative points about our recent visit really put a dampener on the day, the first being that upon exiting the flumes slide with my 17 month old, I was surprised to see that two boys were swimming towards the pipe, luckily one pulled the other out of the way otherwise we would have collided badly and could've had some nasty injuries all round. The annoying part was that despite my partners shouts to warn them, a life guard just stared at the situation taking no action as they continued to dangerously obstruct the flumes exit. The second point was that the water was quite cold, my daughter was shivering and we left early. It would've been fine if at leaat one of the jacuzzis were heated more so we could warm up in intervals, I could have sworn they used to be but I could be mistaken. As I said the experience was overall good, the desk staff were friendly and helpull, the changing rooms were in good condition, although the locker ate my coin, at least it had disappeared when we got changed to leave. Well definitely be back again.

Brilliant, we spent three hours in the pool and could probably have stayed longer!!! The flumes are exhilarating, the jacuzzi warming and the lazy river realistic. We're definitely going again.

Fitness swimming pool. Now open for public, very reasonable prices. Have abilities for people with disabilities. So there can swim everyone, also provides lessons for children and adults who can't swim or want to improve their swimming skills. Has lockers (don't forget to bring £1 coin to lock it) and showers (no shampoo or soap provided so need to bring with you).

I have just recently joined and I’m not surprised by the negative comments. When I went to do my membership I asked the lady at the front desk for a tour and she blatantly ignored my request and said I needed to come on my induction day! Hmmm I’m already thinking of cancelling. Gym looks okay but could do with some cleaning.

It's around 29.00 for a family ticket .my baby of 2yrs went in free. I took 1 adult 3 kids.. or that price is for 2 adults and 2 kids. Mean in a way price is not bad if u stay all day. But still a stinger considering its all not on like the rapids, flumes or wave machine.Check days and opening times for them before going .. Needs a good clean up . Maybe new floor in the baby slide area . U also can have pictures taken with ur family at £12.00 a picture or buy 2 and get 1 free... Little shop . Mc ds over the road ..

The water park inside the leisure centre is very good but it's missing a few things and one of them a deep end for the older guys and girls. Now it has two slides but you will find many leisure centres and water parks with much better the blue one is about average but the green one is very poor and slow. Now moving on to the staff, there are many lifeguards around so be assured to feel safe and the place itself is very safe. Would I recommend this place, yes because of the two hot tubs that other places don't have and because of the price £6.75. It might be the cheapest water park in the UK.

My 5year twins and I had a great time here today. Loads to do and play on. The slides were great. Im lucky my 2 kids can swim really well so they could do everything but the outside river rapid ride. Bit of a faff in changing room area and showers trying to find a changing cubical. Staff were helpful and friendly. It was busy but this was expected as it was half term. We arrived 11am and left at 2.30pm. The que was massive when we left so I would suggest an early arrival, golden arches right next door helped post swim hunger. Well worth a visit

Great place! Been coming here for years now and the flumes and outdoor rapids are a blast! However, the conditions are not the best. Hairs around and lots of grime at the bottom of the pools. The changing rooms have improved a lot since a few years ago but still aren’t clean enough. More to the point, this is a great place for a party or family outing and you are guaranteed a good time!

Things that were 5 stars: Booking online Checking in on arrival Lifeguards Cleanliness on the way in !! Leisure pool Things that were 2 stars: Changing facilities!! as people were taking baby facilities when their own children were all over the age of 6. Was taking so long to get changed that I had to use a single cubicle with a bench to change my little girl then ask my sister to hold her whilst I then changed. Wouldn't know what I would've done if I was by myself. Cleanliness on the way out!! Signs: there are a lot of signs which is great for guidance on what to do whilst using the facilities but there were only two signs telling you where you can actually leave as you can't leave the same way you walked in. So a lot of people are just wandering around because they don't know how to get out. FYI ! you leave through aqua springs door next to the rapids.

Very good facilities and so much fun. Lifeguards were very friendly and helpful. I had experienced a horrific injury whilst swimming in the lazy river. Whilst I was in first aid, very worried indeed, the lifeguard was very kind and helpful. She had a polite conversation with me which took my mind right of my injury. Also while I was in first aid a shaken up boy came in with a cut open knee which was from a sharp part of the end of the rapid. I thoroughly enjoyed the rapids and slides at Leisure World as did my friend and every other participator. The hot tubs where very enjoyable and the temperatures of the baby pools where very suitable for a young age. The only negative that I came across was the busy parking and queuing to get in and out. I overheard a lovely woman who complained that it took her 35 hole minutes to get out of the car park, as she dropped off her two girls for a swim. Although I do understand that the business could have been due to all of the Saturday afternoon activities that the public where attending Thank you to all of the Colchester leisure centre staff for making me feel very welcome. In addition I will be attending this centre again.

Very very cool but the queues are a bit ridiculous I will be honest and I know it's a popular place but the amount of people they let in can get crowded. Long queues getting in and for the rides etc. The rides and pool itself are Okay, changing rooms are fine but one time could've been cleaner. You have to pay for both the leisure pool and the normal pool and the lifeguards will check that you have (well they did for me anyway ) as I tried to go up there for a swim but was told I couldn't. I don't get why it's not just 1 price for all the pools etc that would be better. Generally not too bad and It is certainly worth a visit.

Colchester Leisure World is amazing. There are 2 flumes, one slow and one very fast. I went on the fast one, the blue flume , and when I landed in the water it was very fun. The pools have lots of affect. One of them was a water river which moved you around it. It was like a nice spa day. The hot tubs are very relaxing. So come here. It will be like riding to heaven.

Went here with my 7 year old for a private party. It was great fun. Shallow pool for the little ones and deep "Rapids" for the confident swimmers. The green flume can be ridden with parent for the non confident swimmers. I have wanted to go here before, but have phoned up in the past and the queue has been going round the car park!

My daughter is 4 and we go here because the kids pool is open until 20:00. I feel like I'm giving away a big secret, we love going in the evening, sometimes we get the pool to our self! I visited Aqua springs it was lovely it has been redone recently so is not looking to dated. The changing rooms could do with cleaning on a more regular basis and the floor mopping down but other that a great experience. I would however say it's a little too expensive and I think £10 would be more reasonable.

Swimming - Good points - free parking, lots to do has a cafe. Bad points - Bit cold, changing rooms could do with a deep clean, but my main concern was the pool fumes made me and my son constantly cough, when looking around lots of other people coughing, I mentioned this to the lifeguard politely and got robed off so we got out.

I regularly visit leisure world to use the leisure pool with my two boys aged 3 & 7. It is a great pool, they love it. It can get very busy at the weekend mind but that is a measure of its success.

Very nice and large Leisure centre in Colchester. The water area has lots to do for young kids up to adults. The facility has plenty of parking with 4 hours included if you enter the centre. The onside cafe is also well stocked and has friendly staff.

Used to bring my girls here and would have a great time in the leisure pool and water slides but that was over 10 years ago. Now living in Col i thought it would be great to go for a swim. The fitness pool is ok but the whole place is tired and in need of modernising - and the smell....almost like a stale sewer smell. Unpleasant. Would be helpful if your name, as a card holder, wasn't printed in 3 places on the receipt so rather than just pop it in the bin when you're done, you have to destroy it!

It was about £12 for my daughter and I to use the leisure pool, the car park was free. On the Sunday we visited only one of the flumes was in use. Not the end of the world but it did mean the queue and waiting time was longer. Even though it was very busy it was still good fun.

Good facilities, great amount of parking. We went to Charter Hall to see a comedy show. The layout is strange in that the stage is along the long side, meaning that the seating rows are very long, and we found ourselves needing to sit at quite an angle in our seats.

I use this frequently for Badminton. Sports hall has good lighting but floor can be a bit slippy sometimes. Charter hall has good, grippy floor but the lighting is quite stark. Decent selection of cakes & coffee in the cafe for an after-game relax on the sofas.

We've only gone here for swimming / splashing about. Water chutes, lazy river, toddlers section, spa and a crazy outdoor rapids-style section. Staff are friendly and parking is free if you enter your registration number into the touch screen devices.

We are regular swimmers here. It can get very crowded so prefer the fitness pool or go to leisure pool at off peak times. Slow service and malfunctioning changing facilities let it down at times otherwise a reasonable place.

At this leisure world It was £6.60 to get in witch is kind good but not really it’s one pool, two slides and a outdoor rapids area.(that’s only open for 4 hours(12:30-4:30)) Were closed at 4pm no reason given by the manager And the slides (10am -5:30pm)were the same closed early 5pm no reason given by lifeguards My friend was being bullied by a younger kid Kicked in the back grabbed and forced under water punched in the head and called a potato face We went to lifeguards 2 times before the manger came over and said “I’m giving you all a warning if you mess around any more I will kick you out” the kid kept messing around jumping in to the indoor rapids. We saw the manger escort the kid out we assumed the kid had left but 20 minutes later he said hi like nothing happened to us and was then following us around the pool so we just left and went to the McDonald’s over the road I’m would give it two stars but since some one decided that the pool would be a great place to relieve themselves we were all Evacuated from the pool and the staff were cleaning up the Mess I do feel sorry for them

Hi, yeah think this facility is good stuff for all. One complaint; some of the drainage in the main pool needs looking at, especially the vents at submerged adult foot depths.

Me and my partner has recently joined here, its absolutely great for the price we pay (pretty much come here every day now), and the Aqua Springs spa, sauna and steam rooms are brilliant after going to the gym for a good workout, the main swimming pool is great fun and our daughter loves it :D The parking for free for 4 hours is also a bonus.

Tired old and suffering from some neglect. Colchester is a very rapidly expanding town and the leisure facilities fail to recognise or keep up with this. There is plenty on offer here, it’s not all bad, but it needs attention before someone else comes in and builds a state of the art modern leisure centre outside of town.

I really don’t know whether to give an extra star . This is actually the only leisure centre within the local town but it is amazing every time I go . Lots of people having fun and the slides and rapids are a must .

Council run leisure and sports centre, boasts a Skatepark, Astro courts, squash courts, a spa, gym, boxing pretty much anything and everything is going on here. There is a leisure/fun pool as well as a fitness pool but beware they are not located in the same place in the building.

Leisure pool..It's ok if you like human soup.....busy noisy etc etc you have to try and time it during quiet periods. Rest of facilities are ok although queuing seems to be part of the experience too. You loose a few pounds just waiting to go in

This is sports centre / events venue which seems to do neither particularly well. The seating is looking rather care worn with many worn through to the foam underneath - this is supposed to be a premier location but the main hall is looking like it needs a refurb.

Hit and miss. Can be dirty or clean, can be coldish or warm. Probably the lack of consistency means there is a regular turn over of managers and staff. What ever you do, dont go there on a wet weekend. It's bloody bedlam.
