We booked a skateboarding party for my 5 years old son’s birthday, they managed to handle 25 kids. Even none of them had any experiences with skateboarding before instructors were really y cool they showed a little bit of everything Kids had so much fun And recently my son has started to join skateboarding club. We had a brilliant 1-2-1 beginners lesson with Joseph. He kitted us out with everything we needed to get started and talked us through everything we needed to know. He was also able to work with both of us as we got the hang of things at different speeds. Lots of fun had despite a rainy day! We'll definitely be going back for more! :)

My girlfriend bought me a skate lesson with Skates & Ladders for my 28th birthday as I had always wanted to try. So so glad we did it. We had such fun. Our instructor was Dimitar and I am so thankful for his patience and encouragement. He never made us feel stupid for getting something wrong, or out of place because of our age. He knew his stuff and was very clear in explaining what to do. He kept us motivated by giving high fives and letting us know when we’d done something well. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn how to skate. The range of locations they can teach at makes it really convenient too. Will be booking our second lesson in a few weeks, and hopefully join the Girl Venture group soon!

Amazing skateboarding lesson with Bobby (in Crystal Palace)! We were in a group session (3 of us), and we found Bobby to be very friendly, easy-going, and cheerful (even on a rainy day)! I’ve taken my daughter (aged 6) to this club a couple of times. It’s well run and a great way for youngsters to get some expert tuition. The wet weather venue is at Waterloo and is, probably, better. In particular, the instructor Lorand is very good - highly professional and has great rapport with the kids. Definitely recommended for anyone learning to skate.

We spent a great time with Michael who is experienced and a rider since 80s. I met Michael as an adult beginner (in my thirties). Having recovered from a recent injury I lacked in confidence & definitely “had the fear” getting back on my board. Michael could see this and was totally understanding and patient. He was super positive & really encouraging all the way through the session. During my first lesson he taught me the correct foot placement, pushing around, carving, doing kick-turns and even riding off a curb. The session was well thought out and adapted to suit my abilities and any requests I might have had. Michael is a total professional and made me feel relaxed and safe but also challenged me in order to improve. Most importantly, Michael made the session super fun and I can already feel my confidence coming back. I highly recommend Michael as an instructor and skates & ladders as a company and can’t wait for my next lesson! If you’re anything like me, a not-so-young beginner and a little nervous and wondering whether it’s too late to start skateboarding - it’s not! Go for it - You’ll love it! :)

I was given one-on-one lessons for my birthday (middle-aged man) with no previous experience of skateboarding. I must admit it took me almost a year to book my first lesson but how much fun was that! My instructor, Luis is such a cool dude and a great teacher. Very patient and sure knows his stuff. Luis was very good in helping me progress and lessons were really enjoyable. Can highly recommend Skates & Ladders to any budding (young or old!) skateboarder out there! Just had two more lessons (a year after previous lessons and review above) with Dimitar this time and once again a fantastic teacher! Very patient and great tips to grow confidence. My daughter (12 years old) joined this time (to allow this old man a bit of a breather) and she loved it! Her progress was insane so thanks Skates & Ladders for a really fun experience for both of us. Thanks to Oliver back in the "office" too for making it so easy to book.

My 10 year old son and 4 of his friends have weekly skateboarding lessons with Michael. My son really enjoys the lessons and looks forward to them every week. Michael is an excellent teacher and is really good with the kids. There are different abilities within the group but Michael makes sure each child is being taught at the right level and that they are constantly learning and enjoying the lessons, whatever stage they are at. My son has just started skateboarding but he’s already shown real improvement and learns something new every week. Definitely recommended.

Think you’re too old to learn to skateboard? Think again! My 6 year old bought us both a lesson for my 43rd birthday and today we had just the most fun ever! Greg and Hassan were fantastic: friendly, calm and very patient with us as we’re total beginners! They provide all safety equipment and made sure we felt safe at all times. They spent time taking us through the basics and after an hour, I still can’t believe how confident I felt on the board! Such a great experience! Thank you guys for making it so easy and such fun for us both!

I booked some private lessons for my 12 year old son. His instructor Joseph was really friendly and professional. Joseph came to meet us in a park convenient to my house for our lesson. Even after one lesson my son has gained confidence to go to the skate park by himself to practise what he has learnt and has already made friends. Joseph gave me lots of great advice on boards and how to improve my own skating. Booking is easy and very nice and pleasant staff! Would recommend.

My 1st lesson and i was up and riding and doing tricks within the 1st hour! Honestly amazing progress which was 100% down to the instructors superb knowledge of the sport and most importantly communication skills ! He gave clear instructions and it was obvious there was a plan and structure to the progression of the lesson. We had a Skateboarding party for my son's 7th birthday. It was a huge success. The kids had a great time and went from never having been on a skateboard before to confidently zooming down a hill. Amazing! My first time learning how to skateboard and Michael was a great teacher. At the start of the lesson I didn't know how to even get on a skateboard and by the end I was skating by myself! I never picked a skateboard up before in my life but wanted to try, and I found this group of people that is so keen on teaching others tricks and just giving them more confidence on the skateboard. I had lessons from Michael, Dimitar and one other guy whose name I don't remember but they were all very helpful and supportive. Most of the people who take lessons are kids, but I'm 24 and can assure you that I never felt out of place...indeed the lessons were very fun! Would recommend to anyone who wants to try this out

My Sons split a 1to1 lesson overseen by Vaughn. The Lesson took place at Crystal Palace Skate Park as Clapham Common one closed due to Covid. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. They knew absolutely nothing before and came away with a good understanding of the fundamentals and the confidence to get going. I will definitely book another lesson for them once they have got bit more practice under their belts.

The weather was predicted to be raining and Greg texted me the day before and we arranged to meet at an undercover venue. I asked for the lesson very early so it would be quieter. We did this as a test to see if she like skateboarding before going ahead with buying her a board and all the gear and I'd say she's hooked already. My son Eddie had a lesson with Jordan in Lloyd Park Walthamstow and really enjoyed it. Jordan was there on time waiting to meet us and had a lovely relaxed attitude with Eddie. He taught him several new tricks over the course of the hour and was very happy to teach him anything he wanted to learn. Eddie thought it was great and will be back for more. Thoroughly recommend these guys, professional, good communication in the build up to the lesson and most importantly really good fun!

As frequent visitors to London finding Skates and Ladders has been brilliant - a chance for our son to learn new skills, burn off some serious energy and enjoy being outdoors at the Southbank Skate Park. My daughter loved it even more than last time and is keen to go again. Her instructor, Kieron, was as great this time as he was the first time we met him: he put himself on her level, physically and emotionally. He’s clearly used to young children even if she is at the younger end of the range for skateboarding. I never write any reviews, but this one is a must. I am right now watching my children have a skateboarding lesson with Jordan: they are laughing, having fun while trying difficult challenges and progressing by the minute. We arrived to Skates&Ladders after an aggressive, destructive experience with another company. Some instructors out there are a disgrace to this magnificent sport, creating completely the wrong culture. Jordan couldn't be more different: encouraging, classy and patient. Oliver is always ready to help with scheduling lessons and making everything behind the scenes run smoothly. These guys are different, truly exceptional and getting things 100% right.

I'd never skate boarded before but booked a place on a group lesson on a wild whim and a commitment to life long learning. I was not disappointed! Being about 30 years older than most of the learners in the venue was not a problem and I didn't feel foolish for a minute, largely due to the grace and generosity of the instructor Ollie. Within an hour I was jumping on and off the board (mostly on purpose), and feeling 100 times more confident then when I walked in. Now all I have to do in practice. :) Thanks guys!

Love these guys, we've had 3 lessons with our 9 year old son, over the past few months, two in London with Josh and Hector and one in Cambridge with Jack, all instructors have been so friendly and polite and really encouraging and helpful, our son has loved every single lesson. We had an introductory lesson with Skates & Ladders for three kids aged 12, all first timers. Although initially reluctant, they had a really great time. The instructor Yan made them feel instantly comfortable in the skatepark, the lesson was well structured and the level card is a nice touch. The kids are planning on going back already. Fab! Amazing! Book these guys now! Have booked them for private lessons for my 9 year old who had a blast learning to skateboard with Jonny. Most recently have had a skateboard birthday party with them (big shout out to Rory, Dimitar and Jordan) and they were amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much. Super efficient and flexible service (thanks Oliver!) and great value for money. The kids at the party loved the lesson and thought it was the best party EVER!! Skates & Ladders are really great, wonderful to work with and brilliant fun! They couldn’t have done more to make organising and running the private lessons and party we had so simple and easy for me from going to a convenient skate park near me to making sure they got in contact before the party to reconfirm all the details. Joseph was an amazing instructor. He gave us a skatepark lesson on the Southbank. He was brilliant with my 8 year old twins who came with differing levels of skill and associated apprehension. Skates and Ladders are great to go to to learn and progress at skateboarding. I have been taking group lessons with them since the start of the year and have learned a lot since then. The instructors are really nice and experienced, giving really useful tips to help you improve and learn new tricks. Just had my son's 8th birthday party with Skates and Ladders at Gurnell skatepark, W13 and it was amazing! All 10 children had a fantastic time and we all loved it, especially my son's dad! Cool instructors Kieron and Rory were fun, professional and excellent with the kids. My son was super impressed with their cool skate boarding skills and hasn't stopped talking about it. This was such a different and exciting party - under the patient guidance of Kieron and Rory, all the kids learned whilst having lots of fun. My sons, then aged 8 and 6, started with Skates & Ladders a little over a year ago. They had surfed on holiday and wanted to do more - but living in London, skateboarding was the next best thing. Skates & Ladders gave them an amazing introduction that got them really enjoying it - and ensured, for me, they could skate around without losing teeth. It has taught them that tenacity is key to success in a way that I'm not sure school has ever managed; built their confidence; and introduced them to new friends. Last weekend we celebrated Robert's (the older one) birthday with a skate party in which S&L (Yan) coached kids from his school before they all played skate games and had races together. It was a fantastic party. Many thanks to all at S&L. Highly recommended for any kids starting out on a board.

Arranged a private skateboarding lesson for my partner's birthday. Dimitar was our instructor. We turned up at 11:50 on Saturday and Dimitar was already there. After a quick safety talk and 10 minutes or so of checking what sort of level my partner was at, they were off skating and progressing. My partner really enjoyed the lesson. He'll definitely be booking more himself in the future. Dimitar was an excellent instructor and really helped to build his confidence. Oliver, who has liaised with me during the booking process, has also been really flexible and easy to contact. Excellent company.

I skateboarded a long time ago, when I was young. Now that I'm in my late 20's, I wanted to pick it back up again! Skates and Ladders provided a means for me to get some great 1 - 1 training. Yan was great, he was able to assess my ability and begin teaching me what I needed to know to get comfortable again. I loved every minute, even with a few falls! Lessons were easy to organise, communication in both setting up the meet and teaching was excellent. I will defo be booking another session. We had a Skates & ladders skateboarding party at the southbank skatepark for my sons 8th birthday. All 10 children who took part had an amazing time. Both instructors were friendly and professional and by the end of the 2 hour lesson even the most nervous of kids could cruise on the board and do some simple tricks. Can highly recommend skates & ladders for lessons, my son said it ‘was the best party he had ever had or been to’ we’ll be sure to book in future lessons with Skates and Ladders for him and for me, his mum!

Great lesson from Riccardo down at Southbank - after 15 years off a board he really helped correct some questionable habits and get me more stable on the board, showed me some balancing techniques and strengthening exercises that will help and got me rocking a Axel stall on the bank by the end. By going back to basics it really helped me step up and progress quickly through the session. 👊

Dimitar has done a couple of 1:1 lessons with our 5yo, and really helped him understand the basics, start trying some tricks & how to navigate the Clapham skatepark & its 'rules'. He's a very patient teacher and I was impressed he could keep a 5yo engaged and interested for an hour! We'll probably do one or two more 1:1 and then join a group session as he builds confidence. The booking process with Olivia/Oliver was also really easy too.

I was a bit scared of start skating due I'm 32, I haven't had any contact with skateboard before, and I'm not much sportist... Now I'm just returned home from my 1st class... And I'm super satisfied with the experience!! I can't wait for the next class with skates and ladders guys!! My instructor has been Luis, which is an amazing teacher, also a super cool guy. He is super helpful; with perfect knowledge of skating, and (more important) he is really good with correcting posture, technique, etc... There is some people who loves teaching; Luis is one of this kind of person! To be honest, I was not expecting to see such a progress just in my first class!! It has been amazing! Also the atmosphere in the skatepark is super cool! I was expecting to feel a bit like "I'm not welcomed here"... but it has been just the opposite! So nice people! That's why I've decided to stay longer (I have to say that I have been so lucky of finding a not crowdy park) I don't want to forget to congrats the online customer service, wich is amazing! Very nice people! The only bad part of the experience probably will arrive tomorrow, with the soreness... Haha But it worth it because I've had lots of fun! I'm super happy to have dared to start skating with Skates and Ladders!! Highly recommended for any ages and any level! If you're considering to text them, I would recommend to don't hesitate!

Nothing was too much for Johnny and Dimitar and they showed immense patience at times. But by the end of the 2hrs all the girls could skate board!!! I couldn’t believe it.

I had my very first skateboarding lesson on 4th July at Cantelowes Skatepark with Johnny. The lesson was exactly what I had hoped for. Johnny showed me the very basics; I was riding the board during the first 15 minutes. Johnny was an excellent tutor: informative, patient and fun. I enjoyed the hour very much so. I’ve already been on my board outside and on my own; I plan to have another lesson shortly after a little practice. I would highly recommend Johnny and Skates and Ladders.
