I've been going to this leisure centre for years. There's always been a friendly atmosphere from all the staff and a wide range of classes on offer. Even during lockdown they offered outdoor classes to accommodate some of us fitness fanatics and it was a welcome relief. The pool and gym is always readily available and clean, and queries are always answered really quickly if necessary. An environment suitable for friends and family and it's handy with a carpark just to the rear

Not the best pool in the area but the prices reflect this. The training pool was very cold and my 2yr old was shivering as soon as we got in. After some time though he did adjust but it was still cold. The showers were OK and did get warm enough to warm us up after the pool. They do have free hairdryers which is a plus but the changing rooms were freezing and had no heating! This is something that needs to be sorted out.

I wasn't aware how many things are on offer at Thamesmere Leisure Centre, as I was travelling further away for the gym. I love the classes, they have dance, spin, body conditioning, Aerobics, HIIT ect. The favourite for me is dance as they have great music and its so fun plus all the trainers, staff and members are so lovely and welcoming when it's your first time going. There is also the gym and swimming. I have done adult swimming lessons and they have really helped me get better at swimming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to join a gym for fitness classes, swimming or the gym.

Joined in the summer 2021. The staff are very friendly and everyone in the classes are warm and kind. Would highly recommend the classes. It's a great community for getting to know other people whilst getting fit.

We used take our daughter to Shooters Hill for swimming lessons but didn't see much progression over nearly 12 months. Since moving her to Thamesmead Leisure Centre, the teachers been excellent, they look for ways help her improve and as a result, we have seen her move through the grades very quickly. We are very pleased we made the switch.

I attend thamesmere leisure centre to go and do frankie class as frankie is such a lovely and nice instructor and all her classes are fantastic and love her class so much and it only frankie class I attend all the time as frankie is always helping me out alot and that it a great leisure centre. Clean, tidy, well equipped and the staff are lovely and frankie and all the staff are clearly enjoying their job and are well managed. I am happy and pleased that the centre is putting frankie class temporarily in other areas and I still go to frankie class while studio where do class is getting refurbished and brand new studio too.

Considering the time of day and with a wheelchair user. All staff members we encountered blew our expectations. Lewis made sure we where shown to the changing rooms and the pod was ready to assisted him into the pool. Nothing was too much for all members of staff we where made to feel welcome. The staff where all very supportive and made the nervous wheelchair user feel safe and support all the time we where in the pool. Credit where credit is due keep up the good work guys. Looking forward to our next visit 😀 😊 😄

I used to go here for swimming lessons for school at the pool since we were to attend. The changing rooms were clean, there was no mess. All together, it could use some more staff but altogether it was amazing and I would come here just a swim if I could.

Long wait at an empty reception and was unable to use the app that I was instructed to download. The pool was perfect temperature and not busy at 10am. Hopefully it will be smooth entry next time.

I am not local to the area, my phone had run out of battery, and I was hopelessly lost! Were it not for the amazing Rosie and Lydia in the library section, I would still be wondering around lost in Thamesmead. They were so kind and helped me on my way. They are a real credit to Better Thamesmere Leisure Centre.

Lovely pool, very warm. Flume looks excellent but currently shut due to COVID. Great, friendly staff. Smooth booking and check in procedure. A little confusing if it’s your first time as you’re not meant to use changing rooms but overall a great experience, looking forward to returning.

The staff are lovely and welcoming! This gym, the space & equipment could be soooo much more than what it is. I am pretty sure Thamesmare Leisure Centre has lost A LOT of members (and potential customers) due to that lack of equipment. As for the swimming pool its okay, I learnt how to swim here as a kid so I have fond memories of this place. I love seeing the kids rushing in for there swimming lessons, that makes me smile. I think GLL should knock it down and build again or build up - its old and run down now. The community, Locals and Youth need it and they need a space to feel inspired - Please get funding to make this space GREATER than it is!

Not one of the best gyms Better has to offer but it is ok. If you just need somewhere with a swimming pool, a gym and some classes then this will work for you. Better could do better with their gym equipments though. When their equipments breakdown they take a long time to repair them.

Awesome vibes! Cool gym. Did have one slight problem with a member of staff. Older white lady, blonde hair with glasses I felt was a little rude to me as I had only asked her for some change in exchange for my notes to use the lockers. Her response was ‘I’ve only just got in and started my shift, take your wallet with you’ I felt that this was a little unprofessional and not very helpful considering it’s a minor query.

I use only the library here. I love that it has really long opening hours and the facilities would be awesome, But... The toilet always stinks. The people in the study room would - eat - strictly something from a very noisy plastic wrap or something smelly - take their shoes off even if their feet stink - talk - answer phone calls. Sometimes I even wonder if I could study more at home next to my two toddlers.

Good family leisure centre with two swimming pools and great value for children's swimming lessons. It's not a Bannatyne but it does keep the kids busy. A small library adjoins the pool area with a fair selection of books. Parking is a nightmare on Saturdays.

The swimming pool was designed for teaching; 2 shallow ends and deep (1.5m) in the middle. My kids and I are confident to practise here.

I mainly go here for the gym and can say that it can get relatively crowded during the weekdays to a point where I have to change my workout routine to avoid having to wait around for equipment. Air conditioning is set about 2 degrees too low and is probably my biggest annoyance. Gym equipment is new, but doesn't cater for the free-weight users as well. only around a quarter of the gym is allocated to free-weights yet half the gym uses them.

I find the place too small to cope with local demands and there is not enough accountability on various levels. But there's room for expansion (perhaps east side of the premisses). otherwise overall it's a nice and friendly family type environment.
