Reviews of The Pirate Castle

Lovely venue. I was attending a group for alcohol service. Must was on the water and all the canoe's and kayaks were stacked against the wall. Must be lovely in the summer.
I was eating a lovely vegan breakfast which was made by one of the service users.

I loved my kayak tour with The Pirate Castle 🏰🛶
It's a great charity working with young people in Camden and beyond to promote better life chances and healthier living.
The walls nearby are covered in gang tags. Gangs prey on younger people in the area and an aim of The Pirate Castle is to help move them away from gangs and into activities on the canals, forming friendships and 'gangs' they can be proud to belong to.
If you're looking for something different to do in London I'd highly recommend their tour, and a bonus is you're supporting their great work too 😊

was there in the evening it was a lot quicker then expecting considering there is pubs just around the corner, lovely place to chill. we even got some music while we was there 😊😊

A great venue that offers a vital service to local kids. We shot an interview for an online arts show in the basement and the staff were great. They even have an accessible barge which can be driven from a wheelchair!

We went on an afternoon kayak paddle up the canal with The Pirate Castle. A very fun way to see the canal area and visit Camden Market. This trip was an easy addition to our trip to the Camden area and supports a great cause. Don't miss the Banksy on the wall outside!

A great experience as a paddle board newbie. very scenic route through the canal and a wonderful way to experience London. the instructor is very patient and friendly. it is also going a good clause as the company is a charity helping children.

The Pirate Castle runs drop-in paddlesport sessions for over 50s, every Wednesday 11:00 - 13:00 during term-time. It's a bargain at only £3 per session - tea, biscuits and friendly chit-chat included! Come and get active, make friends and enjoy the great outdoors at Camden's amazing boating charity!

Attended a birthday party here. Clean and tidy environment with kitchen and event room for rent. Great location on the canal. Plan to get the kids to go kayaking here soon!

Fantastic charity running amazing kayaking, canoeing and narrow boats. Kids Clubs, over 50s community club at low prices and adult tours can be booked too, via Airbnb experiences. You can also book narrow boat trips and there's a lovely function room for events and parties. All the money goes to fund the work with kids and disabled people. Great fun and right in the middle of buzzing Camden.

We went on the kayak group tour. Lovely and calm instructor. You can be an absolute novice and still feel comfortable. They adapt the pace. If you have some experience and wish to go a bit faster I recommend booking a private group tour to allow for some more speed. Definitely recommend this place!

Major shout out tot he Pirates Castle. Have walked past this community centre many times but only yesterday got a first hand glimpse of some of what they do. I took the narrowboat training with instructor Andrew and another trainee and had an absolutely fabulous day learning how to tie knots, check the engine, manoeuvre the boat down Londons busy regents canal - including the Islington tunnel, safety issues and open and shut the locks, I have had my own boat for a 6 months but with lockdown have not been able to learn how to take it out. Andrew was very friendly and helpful and a good teacher. They do plenty of other activities at Pirate Castle - many for kids. A really good place to check out for some outdoor fun and learning.

I had a lot of fun on a kayaking experience here. Beate was an excellent leader and she cared about every person in our group. There were five of us and we bonded and had a grand ol' time. She was also responsive afterwards after a brief delay when I wanted to see the photos we'd taken; she sent them to me fairly quickly. I have very good memories from this day, es war wirklich toll, vielen Dank und tschüss

Brilliant cannel activities for everyone..have a meal or relax while floating along in a boat with friends or family

Took a group of secondary school aged boys (Yr 7 & 8)
Great location, close to shops and other places to visit, great fun as it was the first time Kayaking for most. The staff where great and helpful, try'd to engage and motivate the kids as much as possible (not always easy). I like the fact we where allowed to do Kayaking in the morning session and then the Bell boat (team work needed) in the afternoon. Loved that Myself and fellow worker could join the activities, sharing the experience and risk of ending up in the canal (LoL!) with our kids was great. Staff done some games and challenges which were fun. Would have been good to have some table tennis balls at lunch time (obviously we where there to Kayak, so cant complain about that) Will definitely take my son when hes 8 and some of my nieces and nephews. For the price (summer camp) it would been expensive for some families but they do offer a concession price for lower income households. Thanks "The Pirate Castle"

My partner and I had narrowboat training here with Andrew and another volunteer, and the experience was fantastic. We were in the process of buying a narrowboat and wanted some training before taking ownership of our own, and we learnt loads.
Andrew was extremely knowledgeable and adjusted his training style to each of us, as we all had different learning requirements and levels of experience.
I have recommended this course to many others since, mostly to friends who don't actually have boats, as it's great fun, excellent value for money and you get to drive/sail(?) a boat through some incredible parts of inner London.

A terrific party venue!
We hired the Main Hall and downstairs Club Room on a recent Saturday night for my partner's 70th birthday party for 65 people and it was brilliant and you can bring your own booze/catering! If you're looking for a central London party venue that's quirky rather than super-fancy, this an ideal affordable option.

These guys were fantastic and went out of their way to make our day on a last minute booking. Can't recommend highly enough if you're looking for a day out on the canal.

Great place to meet pirates and learn how to be a pirate. Met some lovely gentlemen from Somalia and exchanged tips on how to board vessels and avoid water cannons. YAY PIRATES!!
