Every year the set up of the ice rink seems to get better - it's super well organised and this year the rink is even bigger than before with an extra section of ice 'alfresco'! The monster is part of the @halloweenmcr trail which actually ends today but I'd put money on that space being taken up by a Christmas tree very soon! Special shout out to Brendan today who was the nicest ice marshal I've ever come across - he could see Amy was panicking a bit when we first got on the ice but he made a point of coming over to her, using her name and giving her some tips to get going. He was whizzing around helping to pick people up the second they hit the deck, giving tips to anyone who wanted a bit of help and even offering to take photos of people with the monster which was just really lovely.

Staff were great, we were a little late and they gave us the option to join the next group, was pretty decent. However when buying the skate aid please make sure your child is below 110cm because don’t allow even 2cm over - even if you’ve paid for the aid. Was easy to find, won’t find any free parking but there is a local pay parking. It’s in a perfect location right beside the Manchester cathedral - was great fun.

Had such an amazing time Ice skating with my friends. One of my friends being visually impaired I was wanting to document his achievement of being able to ice skate as you can imagine it was quite amazing to see. Brendan one of the marshals was brilliant. He asked if I’d like to have a video taken of my friend from the front and he videoed him for me! He also went out of his was to video myself. He also took the time to check on everyone. Brendan went above and beyond. He even taught me how to go backwards, when you consider at the beginning of the session I couldn’t skate and by the end I was able to go backwards it shows how much Brendan cared about the people in his care! This guy went above and beyond in so many ways! He is a huge credit to the team. If you have the pleasure of meeting him then you’ll no doubt have a great time! X

Just like to say … I went to Skate Manchester with my nieces and nephew last week. We had a fabulous time and the children really enjoyed it. Sharon, the manager was so helpful and could not do enough to ensure we all had a good experience. The venue has excellent wheelchair access and Sharon found us a great area to view my nieces and nephew skating, as I am in a wheelchair. She also let me know that it was possible for me to go on the ice with my wheelchair if I wanted to, which was great! Thank you so much for making this a memorable experience! Me and my friends went a few days ago and we had a lot of fun skating, we fell a few times but Brendon (staff on the ice) gave us a lot of tips and came when we fell. He was really nice and supported us on the ice too, excellent customer service and just overall friendly. Would definitely recommend going.

Had an amazing time with my nephew. I did find everything overpriced. For 1 child and 1 adult £30. I grabbed a penguin to help stabilise me and my nephew. Two young girls who I didn't know they were colleagues abruptly asked if I had a wristband. I was confused with the question? It was my first time here. Everything felt rushed, un organised, and ran by kids. ( I mean that with no disrespect) I told them , "I didn't have one. I was told I couldn't use it and had to pay for it. I explained it was my first time here and from buying my ticket to getting my skate to waiting half an hour for the next session to start. Nobody had explained anything to me, and I was very nervous at skating. They just skated away. I was shocked. Nobody had no basic customer service skills and had no time for you. However, I didn't let it spoil our fun, and I did get help from other customers.

I brought my niece’s this morning and what an experience. They absolutely loves the Marshall Tammy. She was lovely and she even made me smile not just my niece’s what’s credit to the rink she is. I will be back on Wednesday with some friends hopefully Tammy will be around. Great banter amazing teacher and all round great person employee off the rink I think. I went ice skating for the first time and all the staff was great. They helped me and make sure I feel comfortable. Specifically, Brandan guided and give confidence to me and my friend to ice skate and after 2-3 rounds we both didn't need railings to skate. He also gives tips and tricks so that we can skate efficiently. It was really a great experience and I really enjoyed the activity. Definitely recommend everyone to go once this winter.

Great skating experience. Went twice this year. First when busy , but was served quick and efficiently. It wasn’t overcrowded and staff super attentive. Second time was quieter but with all the same perks (just a little more room :0) ) The attendant Shu was very nice , even giving a new years choc to my youngest. Will recommend.

Hubert & Josephine we’re awesome! Very welcoming and kind when my best friend had an autistic-related sensory overload panic attack. The team brought a wheelchair over for her and took care of her while the rest of us resumed skating. It was lovely that everyone felt cared for and that no one missed out on fun! I spoke with Brendon and Holly who were both amazing with me and my kids. I had skated a little in the past but Brendon gave me the confidence to push myself a little out of my comfort zone and try skating backwards. After stumbling a few times I managed it. Great family fun. We all had a blast. Facilities for first time skaters, and opportunities for the ‘more confident’ skaters too. The kids skates and penguins were really helpful. Very well organised and all the staff were lovely. Will definitely be back again next year!

Took my three year old skating for the first time last weekend and what a pleasant experience it was for him. Without asking for any help, a lovely lady by the name Sharon came over and offered to help with getting my little love skates on and my own 😁 Sharon also gave him his penguin and helped him to take his first steps on the ice and he nailed it. We also met a lovely spectator on the ice who was happy to answer all my questions whilst on the ice. Thank you Sharon and your team for an amazing day, my baby and I had the best time.

I was quite nervous to skate at all but Mia really helped me gain my confidence and made me feel as if I could take my time learning at my own pace. I surprisingly had a really good time and another Marshall called Hubert was so attentive with everyone on the rink making sure everyone was safe. Definitely recommend for anyone who hasn’t gone skating before or who feels they’ll take a bit of time getting used to skating!

We went ice skating as we do every year. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Sharon who works there. What a lovely lady who was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help us. A credit to you! My 76 year old mother came to watch us (she normally comes every year but this was her first time since Covid so was extra special for us) I was concerned because it had started raining and very cold. I spoke to Sharon who said that my mum could go inside to watch us and also have a seat there. Once all skaters were inside, Sharon went over to my mum to bring her inside and even helped carry her bag (which she was minding for us). She was extremely polite. I saw her afterwards and made sure I said thank you to her. She was very busy but still helped with a smile on her face. We look forward to our annual trip again next year. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 thank you Sharon

Fabulous day out, our 7&10 year olds thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as did the adults. Initially we were nervous about not being able to use penguins we'd booked but Hubert (staff)spent time on the ice teaching and reassuring us. Friendly and helpful all round, George was great, didn’t bat an eyelid when I worried I’d lost my cloakroom ticket! Also the guy all dressed in grey (didn’t catch his name) was helpful and reassuring! The staff had no objections to us hanging back inside at the end while we waited for the crowd to die down which was fab as I had three autistic teenagers with me! Only thing we didn’t appreciate was the super loud beeping to get folks off the ice, and for us the music was a bit loud but that’s not unusual! Overall fab experience!

We have never been ice skating before so we we're very anxious when we arrived. After 10 minutes we got the hang of it and very much enjoyed it. Booking was easy. Only issue was that a member of staff misplaced my partners shoes, so we had to wait around 10 minutes at the end until the shoes was found. This didn't bother us that much and we was soon on our way. Overall fantastic time and can't wait to go again!!

Came to the venue late…. Had lovely time with my toddler for her first ice skating experience. Staff are very helping. Megan had been coming around from time to time to check my little girl is ok and teach her some basics. We had lots of fun skating at Skate Manchester Cathedral Gardens. The set up was seamless and we got out skates easily, checked all of our shopping into the cloakroom with no fuss & promptly got on to the ice. The cloakroom and skate room staff has a busy & demanding job dealing with so many people at once but they dealt with it very well. The only slight negative comment is the ice rink staff were not that friendly or appeared to want to help people that were falling on ice - in terms of giving them tips on how to skate (maybe they are not allowed to help people that fall on the ice due to health & safety and insurance reasons). Just a friendly smile of encouragement would have been nice. However, despite this I would still recommend this skate rink.

What an experience! I had never thought I could conquer the ice, but after entering the rink, I was greeted by a very helpful ice marshal (Shu) who boosted my confidence and put my mind at ease. The whole team were always there to support me throughout it all. Definitely feel like a pro now 😂

I started off like every other beginner and I couldn’t move without the rails. I was scared and had no balance but Holly told me to bend my knees, face my feet outwards, shoulder width apart and lean side to side and it worked like magic. I am so grateful for their advice it means a lot.

Would have liked to have an hour but was good was in and out alot changing the kids skates to the ones which you can put on with shoes, but would have liked to be advised or told what to do because it was my first time with the kids. The skating arena was super. They have 1 under the roof (Semi-Open) and 1 small Open arena. You can enjoy skating in both of them as per your ease. In a host, it was a great experience

Not very well organised. On arrival the entrance is a bottleneck were no social distancing is possible. I didn't see any cleaning of the trays you put your shoes and bags in. There are no toilet facilities on site which is a joke when you have children with you.

A great 45 minutes if terror and fun depending on your skill level go with someone who can skate it will be great I've never even roller skates so was at terror level large well maintained rink surprisingly warm when skating pre booking is best and if you arent experienced book an aid( penguin) to keep your balance.
