If you are a student in Newcastle regardless of your University, do visit this place. Have a session booked beforehand from the website. The Gym is consisting of just one floor but has good amount of equipment and space, also there is a 'swimming pool', which will require you to buy proper attire before you just jump into it. You can play Basketball, Volleyball and my personal favourite Badminton 🏸. The courts are MASSIVE and you get to meet new people while playing, which is a bonus. Baseline - If you like to play sports, do check it out.

I've checked out various gyms across north east however this by far has the best reception staff. Lauren was happy to explain all the price points and very knowledgeable in what the season is like for the gym. Great staff and a lot of features for the price.

Graduation ceremony. The ceremony was well organised by the organising committee and its indeed a proud moment for families, friends and graduands. There is a paid parking in the Sport Central, and bus stop nearby, there shops around the Central and Newcastle City centre is a minute walk from the Sport Central. They also have a digital commons for student only.

Again when the premises are closed no information about why it has closed is posted on the front door for the public to read. I've reported this to them and the university in the past and was told 'We try to give as much notice to our customers for any upcoming closures by placing signs throughout the building.' I've tried to point out that the public would need access to the closed building to read these notices that are posted throughout! I don't think they realise what they're saying. When the building closes they need to post a notice/sign on the front door - facing the public - not hidden away - as that way the public can read it clearly and understands why the building has closed and when it is to be re-opened.

Allows their Alumni and local people to use their sports facilities and sports classes. This deserves immense commendation and praise on their part as the other university in Newcastle does not allow this.

Recently visited for pay-as-you-go swim session. Excellent value at £3 for alumni members for a 60 min session. This includes your changing time so come with your swimsuit on under clothes and shower properly at home to maximise pool time. Plenty of space in the pool with max 25 swimmers per session and 3 double lanes open. Lane speeds and directions are clearly signposted on the digital board at the bottom of the pool. I felt very comfortable as a beginner swimmer as people of all ages and abilities were at the session. The pool and facilities were clean and spacious. Would recommend to anyone. Parking is free at College Street before 8am which is ideal for the 7am session.

Really nice clean pool with friendly staff but you only book hour slots. You aren't allowed into the changing room til the hour starts so changing time is included in this. On going in I discovered you need to buy one of their special tokens for the lockers which I wasn't told beforehand (with only an hour I didn't want to waste time going back out to reception so I just risked it). You then get kicked out at 5 to and it feels very rushed when showing etc. You don't get the full hour.

Great facilities with some major flaws. Poor swimming times three 2 hour slots per day. But it's big clean and never too busy. Gym is brilliant and well managed. Good just wish they're were more swimming times given its not cheap

Northumbria Sports Central is an outstanding facility for high quality of sports training, exercises, Gym and swimming. On some occasions students and staff can avail seasonal discount.

Great facilities for staff, students and members of the public. A real mix of classes available, check it out online in advance. The climbing wall is fab, suitable for all abilities. Swimming pool usually has lanes to help those focused on training and separate them from leisure swimmers. Sauna is great. Main gym is large, spacious and well equipped. Usually busy from 4pm onwards, very quite and peaceful early in the morning.

The membership at the Sport Central is a great investment. The facilities are stunning; first class gym suite with brand new equipment, top class swimming pool with access to steam room and sauna. The fitness classes and instructors really push you to do your best. Changing rooms are kept clean and tidy, there is plenty of secure lockers but you won’t be able to use a new £1 coins so bring your own token or buy one at the reception. There is however not enough of water stations/fountains. One at the gym, one in the swimming pool and another one in male and female changing rooms. The one at the gym is quite busy and fills your bottle quite slowly... other than that I would highly recommend Sport Central as a must for all who want to stay fit right in the city centre of Newcastle.

Took my nephew to a kids club... Staff (looked like students) were lovely and friendly. Really good with the kids. Nephew loved it and wants to go back. Could have been signposted a little better. Tried to get in the back entrance which had huge letters above saying "Sports Central" until a bloke who worked on site told me I was at the wrong side of the building and there was no access that way... he let us through a side entrance and walked us through and told us where to go so it wasn't a major issue, just found it a little confusing having never been on that campus before. Short term parking would have been nice for drop off/pick up... I did walk past a car park but it said there was no parking available so I dunno what thay car park was for. Good day out for the kids, would recommend.

Sport Central is rightly located at the heart of Northumbria University Newcastle and it has vast space for indoor games and could as well be used for other occasions like convocation ceremony. The lightning and sound systems are fantastic and provide the spectators and the guests as the may be a great listening and viewing pleasure.

Came here to watch the Newcastle eagles basketball team. Great venue, excellent views of the game. Lots of entertainment through out and a great selection of refreshments on offer. Will definitely be coming back to take in another game soon.

I have performed here numerous times now, not as a sportsperson but as part of Newcastle Music Services (now Music Partnership North) 'Big Gig' event. Today we loaded in some 41 schools comprising around 1300 children with multiple instruments to rehearse and perform a public concert. This was to be the end product of several months rehearsal of some ten tunes at their respective schools. It's a top place for our gig day and nigh on a full day at that. We've held this meet previously at The Sage Gateshead and City Hall, both outstanding places in their own right. However, for our needs this hall is arguably the very best in accomodating the numbers involved, in terms of facilities, price and ease of access. Ok it lacks the kudos of my aforementioned concert venues and it isn't acoustically tweaked but it works top drawer for us.

The massive investment really paid off for this amazing sports facility. Stunning on the inside and out, Sport Central caters for people from all backgrounds of age, gender, and capability and hosts a wide range of sports. Recommend watching a Newcastle Eagles game to everyone.

Great courts that are hybrid and are transformed depending on the sport. There were even convocations held here. Good indoor facilities that are well maintained. Do check availability because sometimes they close for events, holidays etc
