Reviews of Weigh To Go
T. Y.
I feel so lucky that we were gifted this such cute independent shop! I used to go all the way up to the meadows on argyle place to refill groceries in my own containers and now we are given this opportunity to shop organic, local, waste free and plastic free in Leith i am just super happy!!
Been shopping here since the opening and have always felt welcomed and helped by every one that works here.
I almost always buy coffee ☕️, dried fruits, 🥥🍌🥭, nuts 🌰 🥜, beans, spices, noodles 🍜, medjool dates, hand gel, laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, freshly pressed peanut butter with no additives (I get mine crunchy but they also serve smooth one).
When it’s not sold out they often have handmade vegan chocolate truffles that are to die for, and you can refill your containers to the quantity you want/ need so you don’t pay for what you don’t need and can live waste- free.
They take cash and card, there’s a bus from town to the bottom of Leith walk few meters up by the pharmacy that’s quite handy and they’re open every day.
All for sustainability and trying to sell as many tasty products as possible from UK or at least Scottish suppliers around. Such a good shop when it comes to quality, cleanliness (great hygiene and handling of covid crisis since the beginning and to this date!) and awesome customer service 💯
Thank you 👌
M. B.
Cant recommend more highly. WtG is worth a visit for the vegan truffles alone (seriously to die for), but you also can't go past the most delicious sourdough in Edinburgh. It's really nice to be able to help the environment by supporting small business and consuming quality products!
S. M.
Great little package-free store with a reasonable selection of staples and a lot more on the list to be added soon. Spices, pasta, beans, trail mix makings, baking supplies, cleaning supplies, shower products, milk, and more at reasonable prices (especially since it's organic whenever possible). Bring your own containers of any type or buy nice glass containers there (or borrow from the karma pile!). Happy to support such a great little shop!
D. M.
My new go to, fresh milk in a bottle from the farmers, and 20p when you take back the bottle back. Lots of organic stuff and non plastic items that you can fill up, Natural Ingredients like shower gel , soaps and your good old bladed razors for that fleek shine 😜walking distance from home 😊
M. M.
A great packaging free shop with a wide range of goods. My wife and I were delighted when Weigh To Go opened as we're trying to reduce the amount of single use plastic we consume. Weigh to go stock everything from pasta, eggs, milk, bread, to spices, cleaning products and toiletries. The shop have adapted well to the restrictions in place for the pandemic and the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I really recommend it.
C. G.
There are always challenges setting up a new business. Lucy and team have done a dam fine job.
I can highly recommend the olive oil, eggs and milk; I've yet to dabble in the other produce.
Definitely worth a visit.

A shop, community and little oasis. Great range of dry goods, all sorts of cleaning products, dairy alternatives, dairy, cheese from IJ Mellis and bread. Really amazing people.
H. R.
Whether I'm looking for fresh peanut butter, sustainable cleaning products, or just a wee treat Weigh to Go always provides!
C. K.
This is a wonderful place. A small shop but crammed full with essentials, with really friendly staff and a real community focus. I'll be going there often!
A. S.
What a lovely shop. Go in weigh your jars get a bunch of dried and canned goods, soaps and shampoos, spices, beans, local eggs and fresh milk. All of this to reduce plastic. The prices are comparable to supermarkets and often times cheaper for certain things. The owner is a lovely person and everyone who works here loves what they do. Just a great local shop with some great people. I go in almost every week to stock up on these goods.
G.
Great little shop to get all of your dry food, toiletries and cleaning stuff. They also have fresh eggs, bread and milk!
The shop is super clean and easy to navigate, several scales available to weigh things up, and there are usually spare jars that you can use if you didn't bring enough. The prices are also super reasonable. It takes a bit longer to shop here than in a "normal" shop, so we tend to go once every 6 weeks or so, and just buy enough to tide us over to the next shop (and get fresh food and veg delivered from our local farm). Works a charm.
Shop staff are friendly too which is a bonus, and if there's anything you would like to see available that isn't on offer, just tell them! They usually respond really quickly and you will see the item you asked for pop up onto their shelves within a few weeks.

Fantastic shop! I'm so glad that Weigh to Go exist, making it much easier for me to reduce my plastic!
I particularly love how if you just want a small bit, they can do that (I think I once bought 2 individual star anises, as that's all I needed for a recipe).
But then equally I can bulk buy shampoo and conditioner, plastic free! Every time I go I find a new product or ingredient I love. Keep it up, fabulous Weigh to Go!
G. A.
Such a great bulk food shop! They have a huge selection of spices and other dried goods plus delicious milk in glass bottles, bread, eggs, oils, household items etc. And really friendly and helpful staff. No fruit or veg which would be a great addition but they've already fit a lot in the space. So glad this place is nearby!
K. A.
I love this shop! It has been excellent since it opened, with some of the best spices I've ever had (much fresher and cheaper than supermarkets) plus incredible peanut butter, all the usual, very affordable staples, and lots of products from local suppliers. Since the lockdown, Lucy has totally risen to the challenge and has kept so many things in stock when they seemed to be impossible to find elsewhere. It's also lovely to get a wee chat when stocking up.
B. S.
Weigh To Go has been an absolute godsend through this mad time, while most supermarkets were struggling to stock flour, these guys had weekly deliveries from a local mill no less! They have the best peanut butter in the city (take in your own jar/container and they'll crush it for you while you wait), which for an Australian family is an essential food, we go through around a pint a week! It's a small shop, but they manage to fit loads in there, from milk to honey (again, local!), to filling up your pasta stores and detergents, they are absolute stars! We're absolutely dedicated shoppers at Weight To Go now, can't recommend highly enough!
D. P.
Very good shop to fill empty pantry and cupboards. Little or no plastic at all, just bring your jars or bottles. Try fresh peanut butter! It is really good, no salt or anything added, get best from roasted peanuts :)
J. H.
Lovely little shop with a wide range of essentials and more unusual items.
Wonderful bread, and locally produced organic milk in old timey glass bottles.
The staff are so friendly and helpful too, 100% recommend!
T. W.
I go every week to get my shopping! Oats, oil, nuts, spices, dried fruit, bread, you name it. Toiletries and cleaning products are also great to get. Best thing? 0 waste. Cheap prices + doing something good for the planet = happy customer.
O. S.
Everything from good old milk in glass bottles to tartan face masks, with all sorts of grains, beans, spices and other kitchen easentials in-between. Great for buying a small amount of dry ingredients, mostly organic. Sadly no fresh veg but the space is too tiny anyway. No need to worry about bringing containers as some things can be put in paper bags.
F. G.
This is a great shop. We love the milk in glass bottles, fresh bread and selection of snacks and dried fruit - all without plastic packaging. Lucy and everyone who works there are always super friendly
K. H.
Great little green grocer with no packaging. You can bring your own jars to fill or they have paper bags you can use. Selection is extremely limited so really expect to only get staples here like beans, legumes, dish soap and eggs
J. U. J.
Weigh to Go quickly became out favourite shop for many everyday staples, such as milk, butter, flour, pasta, rice and spices. They also have a broad selection of honey, hotsauces and various environmentally friendly cleaning products.
Most things are sold by weight, true to their name, and you can either bring your own containers or buy glass jars in the shop. Everything served with a smile and where possible from local suppliers.
I. A.
One of the best shops in Edinburgh, saving the environment is made easy here with the amazing staff, brilliant products and it’s well-priced. We get a whole load of things here several times each week.
B. H.
My favourite place to go shopping! The owner is lovely young lady with a great story behind. Her stock is amazing. All the herbs and spices smell extremely fresh! Milk is of am extraordinary quality. And i can't wait to try put the butter! I recommend it everywh, I go! Keep up the good work.
C. S.
An absolute gem! This shop is one of the highlights of living in Leith. It has a wide range of goods, the shop owner is very communicative, and on top of that the shop is so cute, clean and well organized! It makes me feel better to have a Zero Waste option close to home
S. L.
Small shop but big selection of foods and cleaning products. Take your own containers to refill, they have some there you can take. Also often have fantastic vegan chocolatey treats
B. H.
Absolutely love this shop! Lovely owners who are really trying to bring low waste living to Edinburgh.
Bring along a container, jar, or recycle your old bottles for RE FILL. Make sure it's clean and get it weighed at the shop before filling up to have it re weighed to pay. Fresh organic milk, butter and eggs for sale with a discount when returning with your previous milk bottle.
Lots of goods available for RE FILL (pasta, oats, beans, sugar, dried fruits) (Oils, balsamic vinegar) (Shampoo, Conditioner, body wash, house hold cleaners).
They also have an arrangement of pre packed goods but they are all in recycle packaging like raw honey, delicious vegan treats, natural dog shampoo, toilet paper, kitchen towel, bamboo tooth brushs and more!!!
They have a board up the front with products that they are going to be introducing into the shop which i think is an awesome idea.
Excited to watch this shop grow ✨🌱

This little shop is a real- game changer for packing-free shopping in Leith! Stocks everything you'd expect (pasta, flour, pulses, grains, nuts, etc), laundry and cleaning products refilling, great coffee (freshly ground for you), plus you can get peanut butter and vegan cheese. Shop local :).
S. D.
An amazing little shop, with a really great variety, nice staff, and - most importantly - a great ethos. Make sure you pack 1-2 more containers than you think you need, as there is a good chance something will catch your eye!
E. M.
I’m just a little bit obsessed with this shop. It’s small but packed with almost everything you could need in term of dry goods, oil/vinegar, honey, pickles, eco bath and cleaning products and more. I love that they also have reusable menstrual products - when I first started using them I had to buy online because they were available in shops near me. They even have plastic free razors!
If you can’t find something in this store I highly recommend asking the staff as sometimes you may have just not have been able to see it since there is so much on offer! I didn’t realise they had gf pasta until I talked to the staff. The community feel of the store is so lovely and the staff are always helpful.
I also highly recommend trying out the snack products - the chilli lemon corn has me hooked and it is so much cheaper than buying the equivalent in a supermarket.
Weigh to go has a loyal customer in me ☺️
L. E.
Fab refillery-style, plastic free shop with all kinds of dry foods, spices, coffee, dairy and non dairy, washing products and fresh bread (and super lovely staff). Take your own containers or get paper bags there.
N. W.
Excellent shop for finding local produce as well as kitchen staples and cleaning products which are both eco friendly and plastic free. The staff are always really helpful and friendly; it is a joy to shop here!
S. S.

M. J.
Love this shop. Just like the "scoop" shops of the past, can buy as much or as little as I need. Well stocked for such a small shop. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable about not only their own stock but also what is available in the local area.
S. W.
A fantastic independent store with a wide range of packaging and plastic free food, hygiene and cleaning products. Just bring some containers along, and fill up. The ladies who run the shop are really friendly.
K. O.

A. D.
Absolutely love Lucy and the team, they run a great local, plastic free shop with some real good prices compared with other stores in the city. They have good, fresh produce. Always take on feedback.. weigh to go ...
S. D.
Always hugely helpful and adding to their produce. I save so much money, waste and space just by being able to buy what I need, when I need it! Highly recommend.
I. T.
It has a good variety of produce and it's always fresh. Things like walnuts and almonds are really tasty. The staff is nice and helpful.
