The fruit and veg prices on this market are generally quite good and the freshness is pretty good too. Definitely good price on the avocados (5x ready to eat for £1 and they were perfect for our taste). The traders are usually very friendly. The street food is lacking a bit but that maybe more of a sign of the times than the quality of the market.

To me... The quality of the market has gone down hill over the years. (Been coming here since I was 2 with my mum & grandparents.) There aren't as many fruit & veg stalls selling great quality foods. You can get some really good finds, but make sure you check the bottom of the bowl or bag as that's where you'll find the bashed up stuff.

I visit the market often . Great variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs at very low prices. A great place if you cook good healthy meals. The vegetables and fruits don't have long shelf life so eat soon.

I've been coming to this place since 1969. As you can imagine, there has been many up's and down's, but my favourite thing about the market is that if you buy carefully, you can buy fruit and vegetables that will last. I normally buy 1 or 2 bowls of whatever I'm wanting (£1 per bowl) - they are filled with at least twice as much as the supermarkets (although slightly less in the quality, but still tasty) take them home, wash them, cut them up, bag up, stick them in the freezer When I do this method, I'm NOT making lots of trips, I'm not spending extra, it lasts a very long time and they are opening at least 5 to 6 days a week, in-case I run out. It is very nice and refreshing to go there and be able to get fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basic.

This market is great. The fruit and vegetables are super cheap and great quality, £1 per bowl - which would typically cost you anything from £1.50-10 for the equivalent quantity from a super market like Lidl, or Tesco. I typically freeze things like raspberries, avocados and blueberries from here, since you get so many! The pears alone, if put in the fridge, can last up to three weeks and that's eating one, to two a day. There's a similar market outside Whitechapel station to with different varieties of fruits and vegetables to the ones at Lewisham market, but same prices.

The market is the best thing in Lewisham on some days. Now the shops are open you will find variety but you cannot beat the fruit and veg on the market. Fresh and cheap. Very competitive. Do walk along first before you buy as some stalls do better deals. It's really Excellent value though regardless! Bring your trolley with you or be prepared to be laden down with bags. Worth a trip!

This is where I shop for freah fruits, vegetables, meats ans African foods in London. There is really nothing you can't get here if you are a Nigerian in London. They open 8am - 4pm Monday to Saturday. The shops open in Sundays, but the fruits and vegetable open market do not open on Sundays. There is no parking for the open market... Most people use bus to commute to and fro the market. The prices of fruits and vegetables are very reasonable. Most of them sell £1 a bowl, but towards laye afternoon a d evening, some sell a bowl for 50p. There are fast food restaurants like burger King, McDonald's, Gregg's etc around. Street food sellers are around too.

To be honest if you want fruit and veg, more fruit and veg, and some more fruit and veg then your on to a winner... There are three clothes stalls, a kitchen supply stall, two bag stalls, and about 3 food stalls, caribbean, falafel and chinese....umm, the fresh flowers and plants stall, and a billion fruit and veg stalls. If your new, be prepared to be frightened out of your life if your too near one of the guys shouting out at the top of his lungs the offer (although I promise you, you won't understand a word what his saying, it's all gibberish)🤣 Price wise everything down there are from dirt cheap to reasonable. Nothing at all too pricey. Enjoy

I love Lewisham market. It"is well situated with great transport links. A good mix of central and diverse shopping. Best of all is the wonderful fresh fruit and vegetable market. Lots of bargains to be had. Watch out if you land to pick up a few things. You will not be able to resist buying and you will struggle home with loads. So be warned and go with your trolley.or strong arms.

Such character! Nearly everyone here tried to shine as bright as the great quality cheap produce. It is less than half the price of a supermarket, without the packaging. Don't forget the fishos down the end!

first is a celebration of all senses-the colours of vegetables and fruits, people, smells, voices, tastes, amazing open market, plenty of everything :-)))). Second, you have the mall where you can find very good brands and diversity for every pocket and everyone, TKMaxx for barging hunters, GAP, M&S, Sainsbury's, New Look, Primark, Deichmann, Savers, Clarks, and a lot a small shops. I love to eat fish and chips at very popular and traditional English shop and as well Turkish pie with lamb and spinach in mall. They do it especially for me, it's my combination, hahaha, and lady make only for me. They have amazing Baklava and bottles of Coca Cola, LOL, because we feel kids again and I really feel like home in Romania. I can tell you amazing stories about people in there, but I let you to explore and make your own memories;-))))

Anyone who knows Lewisham knows that the accompanying photo isn't anywhere near the market. Hence no market stalls to be seen! When you discover the actual location of the market you will know you are there because all of your senses will be bombarded with good things. The market is open each day from around 0700 until around 1700. Lots of fruit and veg from all over the world, just like its cosmopolitan clientele. Many other stalls selling rugs, clothing, bags, hats etc. Plenty of places to eat nearby as well as a very nice Wetherspoons.

perfect place! Shops are compact and have a good range. enough cafe inside. On the whole, there is a food market with convenient time to visit from about 10:00 to 2:00 of the day. On the other side of the shopping center from the parking there is a good park. Therefore, it is possible in one day to arrange shopping and a quiet rest in the green silence.

As Lewisham gentrifies I hope this place survives. The market where you can get turnips next to a stall that sells yam, the butcher's that sells ox tail and chicken thigh fillets, the 'hair shop' speaks for itself. I love Lewisham market it may be small but what it lacks in size it makes up for in variety. The once lively 'black market' now a summer supper club for Lewisham's gentry, I am lost for words. Support the market or we will lose it.

Great variety and choices, different stalls on the market from clothing to fresh fish, lots of good shops too chose from as well, with all major banks on the High Street, plenty of foods to pick from, late night shopping on certain days is good, the street cleaners do a good job considering how much ends up on the floor, has a good library to use for the public, transport is quite good from Lewisham Station to various areas, has good bus links and taxi ranks, generally a good shopping experience for the area.

The butcher shops are close by too, they double up as grocery shops and have a variety of foods and spices to suit London's diverse population. For those who like to stop and snack there are cafes close by and the usual MacD and Burger king to whet your appetite.
