Reviews of Shepherd Market
e. s.
This is a lovely open market in centre of London. Specially in Christmas shopping for all local people and people from London and other places.
You can walk around and have family time together with your friends and family.
You can buy some essentials and Christmas shopping decorations which most likely would be from organic material.
Carpark is restricted and also in this borough as Westminster is very expensive also one advise for Blue badge holders, payment bay’s are not free for them and they have to pay and just one hour is free and you need to pay for rest.

Lovely streets to visit and walk around. Feels like being on the set of an old film set in London! Check of the bookshop nearby, has some cool relics in there
A. B.
Wandering into Shepherd Market is like stepping into a charming little world of its own, full of little gems of places - restaurants and little pubs with lots of character, off the beaten track but still with lots of atmosphere. Magical at night.
S. C.
Beautiful atmosphere and lots of choice. Food is a little bit pricey, but well worth it. Was a little concerned about getting cold, but most outside eating spaces seem to be well heated. Lovely evening enjoying good food, wine and company.

Wow! A great place to visit it has little bit of everything and tons of an amazing atmosphere. "Hidden away" it's like a small village within a great city! Some awesome restaurants and pubs between the loads of shops and barbershops.
G. R.
Interesting upper class shopping district near Park Lane and Piccadilly with Restaurants, Pubs, and Designer Shops and Art Galleries.

As one of the tabloids said.."A small bit of Paris in the heart of London".An authentic and cosy environment, fabulous food and a wide choice of wines to choose from.Friendly service (don't be in a rush though...enjoy the moment!!) One exits from the restaurant considerably lighter in the pocket ,but then good things dont come cheap,do they..
L. A.
Top top location in central London for have a Pint, or a quick bite. A little village in the heart of Mayfair.
I. S.
This is NOT a single place / shop / etc. It is the name of a tiny area of Mayfair filled with restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and numerous other small specialist shops. Great for walking about and discovering new places, but NOT one "shop" to which a Google review is applicable. (Dumb app!)
C. B.
What a wonderful secret hideaway area this is. Pubs, Eating houses all tucked in behind the busy main road leading to Piccadilly. We had walked the South bank and across Westminster bridge, through St James's park and Green Park ....and then remembered Shepherd Market. You just wouldn't know it was there !! We went into Ye Grapes but there are a few drinking houses to choose from. It was Friday late pm so it was busy with everyone chilling out after a probably frenetic week in work. I love it. I love London.....soooo vibrant
S. S.
Quaint area of a couple of pubs, shops, cafes, restaurants and barbers. What is it with Mayfair? So many barber shops so close together...
The smell of different flavours coming out of some of the establishments can be quite overpowering. Iranian, Lebanese, French and Italian covers most of them. No surprise about the first two as the Saudi Embassy is just a stone's throw away in Curzon St.
If you want a quick sandwich or roll for lunch, I'd recommend Piccolo Bar, just round the corner from the main area.
D.
Perfect pub with a delicious variety of foods. We opted to have a few options from the tapas menu and was really stuffed from the generous portions.
M. C.
Placed within the heart of buzzy Shepherd's Market. Great pub, great beer (Ale) 🍺, really good staff, friendly and attentive.
Food was disappointing to be fair. Simple steak and chips with meagre trimmings. Steak was poorly cooked, semi tasteless, semi raw tomato, which had barely seen a heat source, accompanied by onions that were pretty inedible and tasteless, inedible as they were so cold and crunchy. Congealed bearnaise sauce was the final let down. A real shame as everything else about the place was lovely. The staff had squeezed me in without a reservation, and were so so attentive and welcoming that I didn't have the heart to burst their bubble. Left a generous tip and departed.
G. L.
A timeless part of London with narrow streets and period buildings in the heart of Mayfair. Full of character and interest this gem of the old city is like being transported back 200 years and is often overlooked by tourists . Go for a pint of beer at The Grapes traditional English pub or have an alfresco meal in the summer and drink in some real London atmosphere.
M. S.
Very quaint maze of boutique shops, tailors, florists, restaurants and cafes, and all you might expect from an oasis in the heart of Mayfair. Well worth a stroll and a leisurely lunch....!!
D. H.
Beautiful area of Mayfair with an amazing selection of restaurants and shops.
If you're in London you must come here - highly recommend!
G. Y.
We'd just had a Birthday treat lunch at the Ritz, and decided to try and find somewhere local to have a drink. Noticed this area on boarding that we'd passed earlier and headed in that direction. What a gem! Even the sun had come out to show it in its best light. Great collection of bars, restaurants, coffee shops - with just about every nationality represented somewhere within the square.
D. F.
Its very old part off London with lots off history
Today its full off restaurants from all over the world proper English pubs and bars you are spoilt for choice. Its tucked away just off Berkley Square
P. c. p.
Very convenient for you to be able to get anything from the store. I am not sure if you are going to be able to get bad reviews
L. V.
Great place to visit, charming village atmosphere but very expensive restaurants
A. G.
Great area with old town look, gorgeous atmosphere pubs etc. Love the drink and chat outside by the pub habit 👍
k. h.
Only gave this 3 stars due to the amount of building work etc being done, one or two places still need to re open. But still plenty of restaurants, pubs and coffee shops about, usually a very vibrant area and will be again once all the work is complete. Still worth a visit as its just around the corner from green Park tube station, and close to park lane and Hyde Park.
S. C.
I love walking through diffetent areas of London. Shepherd Market is an intetesting area.
The place had several interesting establishments.
There are pubs and shops here. People were standing outside the pubs and visiting with friends and having drinks.
There is an intetesting men's clothing shop. The windows displayed interesting shirts for men. Quite colourful and pricey.
One art shop had intetesting and colourful animal figures.
D. C.
I like this are.
In the 60's I used to describe the area as being like a piece of continental europ deposited in London and it retains that atmosphere. Love it

Amazing little place, loads of sidewalk cafes, boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Nice quiet atmosphere.

Unfortunately it was absolutely packed when I was there last: cold outside, and poorly ventilated and covidy inside.

Always enjoyable especially returning to meet up with old friends.
A. D.
A great place for people watching. It is also fab for eating and drinking!
j. l.
I go to the Caffe In regularly to order a BLT extra mayo. Lovely staff and great service. Can be a bit pricey but it is Mayfair so...... Either way I still go to get my fix at least once a week. Highly recommend
M. A.
The best place to visit for small market and shops where you can find the Arab and Indian herbal and masala👌
K. V.
A lot of pubs and restorants.Very nice place
P. J.
Ate in a lovely restaurant, Sofra. Food was delicious.
S. M.
Great little place, its full of treasures, shops, restaurants and galleries. It's one if those parts of London that captures a time gone by.
I have been here a few times and always enjoyed my visits. It has a relaxed feel, in some ways it has a magic to it, with its alleyways, and outside dining, definitely worth a visit, old London is still present.
C. W.
It's a great traditional pub to take visitors for some typical British pub grub!
d. m.
The food was really good coffee amazing
C. S.
Vibrant and overpriced but truly an undiscovered gem in the heart of Mayfair. More character than soho and none of the hassle. Compact and bijoux is the phrase that springs to mind....
D.
Nice for a day out when the pandemic is over, it has a cinema, theatres restaurant bars cafes n tesco all necessary amenities 2 min to st James park and few historic buildings and the Japanese embassy is close also

Fun part of old London in the midst of Piccadilly. Lots of restaurants and bars many with outdoor sitting.
D. D.
Lovely little treasure tucked away and easy to miss so watch for it! Wonderful little restaurants ranging from L'Eto with the freshest food and exquisite desserts beautifully showcased in the window to Italian to cute little bistros.
Establishments are cozy so get there early or at off peak hours to avoid disappointment! Charming spots here.
p. r.
Good choice of beers and friendly staff.
K. C.
There are not too many outlets that help with printing documents. This shop can offer you that service. What a relief when you need to travel!!!
J. C.
High end dining with a convivial atmosphere
A. M.
Favourite square and streets in the West End, wonderfully eclectic restaurants, bars and pubs.
J. M.
Amazing and hidden gem, walk up from St James's via Green Park and tuck into Mayfair.
V. M.
Lovely food 😋nice place to eat
J. B.
Great area for a few quite drinks and several good restaurant's. Also a meeting point for Wembley visits
M. H.
Clean airy friendly. Great service and real food . Varied brunch menu . Great little cafe
G. H.
Pleasingly quiet. Village atmosphere. Good food in relaxed surroundings.
S. B.
Food is delicious. A bit cramped upstairs but I don't do basements. Wider range of wines might be better and the decor could do with a luck of paint, but if you are.only going for the food and not the ambiance...
A. M.
Lovely part of old London. Good pubs and restaurants. Worth a visit.
R. L.
Great food and drinks. Covid rules in place so outdoor seating only but had heaters so no complaints
A. M.
Eclectic collection of wonderful pubs, restaurants and galleries 4 minutes' walk from the Ritz
W. T. F. W. L.
Wine selection best we have seen in some time. A couple of stellar English sparkling wines. Great lite bites to accompany the bubbles. Neet out of the way location. Must visit if you like wine.
軟.
Having nice Indian carry here
R. W.
Lovely oasis of calm. Well worth a stroll around.
T. S.
Great spot that we accidentally stumbled across. Decent amount of shops and pubs, seemed to be a bit of a more expensive area, so be prepared for that.
Great tucked away little treat though, we walked around and window shopped and stopped in a pub for a pint. Not overly crowded and off the main road, which is nice.
M. M. R.
A small but very distinct neighbourhood of May Fair area. The neighbourhood is characterized by some narrow streets and lanes, old buildings, exotic restaurants offering various cuisines, pubs, bars, small shops etc. The restaurants of this neighbourhood are well reputed and popular. These are frequented by both locals and tourists.
L. O.
Great range of restaurants for the full range of budgets and palates. Has almost a village high street feel including a corner shop post office, hardware store, stationery store and a barbers. Even has their own annual Christmas lights turning on ceremony complete with a celebrity!
O. M.
The design of the outside terrace area is stunning.

Have been wanting to visit for quite a while and eventually managed to go, had quite a job finding it as it's tucked behind the Hilton Park Lane a stone's throw from Hyde Park, i was a little disappointed as it seemed to be mainly pubs, small eateries and coffee shops but despite having quite a few people milling around it was peaceful and hard to believe you were in the heart of the West End. Found a place called Tiger Cookies which is a small coffee shop that also serves unusual cookies that are a cross between a pie and a cookie in a selection of flavours. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Sheperd Market again but if I was in the neighbourhood I might go to buy some more cookies.
J. B.
Always loved this part of Mayfair.
M. S.
Love this area of London, great bars (my favourite is the Grapes) and great selection of restaurants.
J. J.
Villagey vibes in the heart of London. Lots of places where to eat and drink
A. B. I.
Without a doubt, our home in London!
A. K.
Had chicken beacon salad and coffee in a small cute restaurant, Cafe In. Great value and tasty food. Service was excellent. Pleasant and courteous. Loved for simple lunch.
E. K.
Love this area. Great resturants and pubs
T. D.
Cool little hidden courtyard that you’d never expect to find in such a built-up part of London. Definitely will return for a bit of respite from the tourist nightmare that is Piccadilly/Mayfair when I’m next in the area!
S. F.
Lively popular place buzzing with good food and drink
A. W.
A really nice Place with Very Friendly cafes to go in...
I. W.
Good range of pubs and restaurants
C.
Neatly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly/Green Park, this is a charming square with lovely pubs, shops and restaurants. If you need somewhere to drink on a sunny evening, the Market Tavern is a solid option.
B. H.
I have spent many happy hours in Shepherd's Market throughout my life. There is a wonderful atmosphere and plenty of good pubs and eating places.
O. N.
You will feel like you are back in time when you visit Shepherd Market. The buildings are from the 18th century and the facades and looks were preserved. There are some cobbled streets and some narrow alleys as from a long time ago. And there are many restaurants to enjoy in this area. Not far from Piccadilly.
P. p.
Great little hidden away area.
F. M.
Lovely square surrounded by pubs, restaurants and bars. During a sunny afternoon it gets very lively and charming. Perfect spot to enjoy a pint!
D. M.
Popped in after visiting Apsely House. One of those pleasant surprises when you walk down one of London's many alleys. A number of Pubs and cafes to choose from. Had a light lunch in the cafe in the left hand corner with big windows that open fully.
K. B.
Lovely place to visit with great pubs and restraunts to choose from.
Recommend a drink in Ye Grapes followed by a lovely italian meal in Misto's just round the corner.
M. J.
Beautiful little area with lovely small shops, services and places to eat/drink. Gets crowded but really fun and friendly people. Perfect for Londoners and tourists alike
K. C.
Lovely looking area. Pity about the prices. But I guess that's central London for you. It's like another world. It's worth a visit, but I wouldn't stay long. Unless you're a rich celeb or a banker.
A. R. R. B.
That is the place you want to be if you like excellent service, combined with the best wine selection. Happy atmosphere. Cool place. This is My destination when I go to London to see friends.
P. W.
Good choice of bars and restaurants offering a wide range of choices in warm outdoor locations.
V. M.
Really like this hideaway in central London. Nice restaurant and quirky shops.
M. A.
A great market with great restaurants
M. P.
It's at least 10 years since l since I was last here. Magical evening hosting an old friend from overseas! Wonderful food and Polish vodka!
M. A.
Great area full of wonderful restaurants in the city center.
P. B.
A great place to go to see beautiful people and great restaurants. A must visit in London.
D. B.
Properly cool little place, the food was good and adequately priced, the service was excellent and they paced the meal well.
Very enjoyable, gives you the impression you’ve discovered a restaurant very few people know about but it always seems to be packed
i. H.
Great atmosphere
Good choice of bars and restaurants
P.
We stayed at the Park Lane hotel just by the Sheppard market in Mayfair. This is not a market as the name implies but rather an area of restaurants and pubs and quaint shops. We had breakfast there at Caffein. Small with seating for maybe 20 but great food and nice corner location overlooking the small square. The kings arm pub is just across where we had traditional fish and chips. This is a must visit if in the area.
K. K.
A warren of interesting streets with equally interesting restaurants, cafes and little shops, pubs. 54 Shepherds Market is an Art Gallery with rented space so artists can display their work for a week or two - always worth looking in. A relaxed atmosphere in this area.
c. r.
Came here for a drink post COVID-19 lockdown and it was so fab. Staff were charming, bar was clean and everyone was spaced out inside and outside.
S. R.
Cracking food, great atmosphere & superb service at Caffe Inn
M. S.

A. A.
Lovely Persian cuisine
F. R.
🍣 Sushi. Small tidy yummy.
M. M.
Just walked through after watching a film at The Curzon. It's a surprising little villagey corner. Used to be the place to pick up tarts, but seems to have been cleaned up.
S.
Good spot worth a visit reasonably priced for mayfair
S. C.
Olde London, love it!
A. M.
Inconspicuous place in central London. Worth a visit, although to actually do something there (eat, shop, etc) you need to be loaded with cash since everything is so posh. But after all, this is Mayfair, what would you expect? Very enjoyable place though even if you are one of the regular folk, you can stroll around and marvel on the architecture, the little square and the alleys.
c. r.
The Shepherds Market is a great strip of pubs with something for everyone. There are four pubs, the Market Tavern, Grapes, Kings Head and the Shepherds Tavern. On a sunny Thursday or Friday afternoon the pubs are normally full of Mayfair workers who've kicked out for the afternoon. Can get quite festive on a sunny evening in the summer.
P. B.
Good for a sandwich at Piccolo's, excellent selection of freshly prepared mixes:Chicken, bacon, avocado,bacon,leek,mayo,pastrami.foccacia,ciabata,escalopes.plus the usual sausage, bacon English stuff.Saw a fancy Lebanese restaurant which looked good but probably pricey.Piccolo:leek, bacon mix sandwich, large scone, Cappuccino:£5.70,eat in.Very popular with cabbies.
R. M.
A great area near Buckingham Place. A few steps away from the crowds and back to the real London. Read up on the area and spend an enjoyable afternoon on a self guided walking tour of a special place
J. C.
Da corridor cafe and restaurant is devine freshly made sarnies freshly coffee, pleasant and friendly staff, would strongly recommend for a special treat
C. W.
Just had coffee here. Pretty cold but that's no fault of the establishment.
E. W.
Where's the Market? This is just a side street with some restaurants, some of which I'm sure are nice, but unless you're coming for one of them specifically, there's really not much of an attraction here.
C. P.
Awesome part of London with long history and great restaurants
R. B.
Really nice little hidden set of shops, away from the busy feeling of London. Managed to get a reasonably priced haircut from the barbers there.
D. S.
Quaint little hidden gem in London, antique shops and shops unique to this area. Worth a wander through.
G. M.
Slightly off grid part of London full of good food places.
M. N.
Nice local pub with helpful and friendly staff. Great for groups, couples or a swift one while out and about. Great food available as well.
T. I.
Vibrant yet classy. With lots of restaurants. We dined at Sofra which is a mix of Turkish and Arabic cuisine. I enjoyed the wholemeal bread with hummus.
M. R.
Always a pleasure, this little back water in the southern heart of Mayfair.
R. V.
One of London's hidden gems for long leisurely lunches and or evenings out. Value for money pubs and restaurants.
PS: You are on the edge of Mayfair.
A. F.
The only moderately decent place in Mayfair if you want a regular, non swanky place to have a beer or two. Lots of finance types but casual and villagey at the same time
V. E.
Most favoirite place in London with so many cute little restaurants! Try 9 Hertfort Street as an accommodation. Try the Polish/Mexican for a nice glass of wine and some yummy food! Also great sushi and French restaurants! All just a few metres away from each other! El Pirata just outside the market is grea for a lunch with friends!
P. N.
Found IRAN RESTUURANT here , what a gem , please try it !!! This little area is full of atmosphere with plenty of bars & restaurants and such a nice surprise to find it just off the main road but feels like another world.
M. T.
A nice little area in Mayfair.
Filled with restaurants, pubs, and a few small businesses. Not really a market as such, well worth coming for lunch or a post work drink.
M. N.
Nice area to stroll around
R. C.
Great atmosphere, real buzz to it, some great little restaurants. Easy to get there by bus or tube. Well worth stopping by.
S. W.
Great little find. J&C Martin Jewellery and L'Autre were two of our favorite finds in Mayfair. Galleries and pubs looked great too.
J. H.
Great evening out ,lovely service and atmosphere 😀
D. N.
I love it. Nice and quiet area with many shops and restaurants. One of my favorite places to drink and enjoy my coffee.
A. C.
It is a great option for a pint in Mayfair! It has 2 floors and service is not bad for these days.
H. L.
Very nice area to visit - but prices very high as well (only to be expected in Mayfair!). Reason I went was to go to Jack the Clippers, which is an outstanding barbers.
X.
Great for an afternoon for a walk
P. F.
Interesting little village, a small hub for meeting friends and enjoy time to catch up with each other or amongst friends.
T. L.
Is small stretch of road containing a Victorian square with has many bars, restaurants and shops running through it. It's situated just behind Curzon Street and is referred to by locals as the heart of Mayfair.
h. A.
Great to be that market easier 😀 👌 👍
R. K.
We've had dinner in this area multiple times - French, Persian, Lebanese, Turkish, Indian, pub food, you can find it all in this compact several block area.
S. L.
Go forth n browse. Make a reservation so you can stop to eat and people watch.
L. D.
Quirky place. Worth a look around.
S. H.
Went to the Gallery to see owners of Brownston Gallery in Modbury Devon. Nice area we had an Iranian meal is restaurant opposite. Very pleasant
B. V.
Good place to mingle with the rich and famous also great bars and restaurants . Big shout out to the Nags head run by Tad.
N. N.
Not far from Green Park tube, crowded on a Friday night, quite a few pubs, winebars and restaurants... Seems expensive for food and a few drinks.
M. S.
Little hidden gem for a nice drink after work.
C. L.
Secluded place that doesn't look like London at all. Pretty small shops and restaurants, a little Mayfair gem. You'll find Ryman here, DHL and newsagents and plenty of other useful little shops.
G. B.
Great beef, relaxed and friendly service, maybe a tad on the pricey side, quality nonetheless
P.
Brilliant place for a chilled lunch or dinner. Plenty of restaurants, with many different cuisine
S. M.
A haven for the rich and wealthy!
Shops, galleries and restaurants lining the narrow winding streets and alleyways!
B. S.
It was a nice and dynamic market full of movements. You will find the place favourable with any kind of taste. The restaurants, shopping centres, entertainment are good.
Thanks
M. B.
Nice area
J. I.
I had some time to kill so wandered around Shepherd Market, lots of small upmarket shops and restaurants, probably expensive but there again it's in an area of London where you would expect that. Certainly worth going for a look if you are in the area with time on your hands.
H. S. W.
Fun little gallery !
P. C.

On our first visit to their Thursday spot, in Victoria’s Cardinal Place, there must have been about 20 or so different traders. Whilst wandering we had the opportunity of sampling the delights of; Deeney’s haggish sandwich (run by Carol, who quit her job in advertising for a more independent lifestyle); the Caribbean tastiness of Greg’s healthier oven baked (rather than fried) jerk chicken patties; plus the delicious Fish & Chips from Fins and Trotters, started and run by Bernado & Kasia. With all the above, and many more – be sure to sample Miguel’s roasted chestnuts – not only were we impressed by their amazing ability to brave the cold (we started chatting to them all on a freezing November day), but also the quality of their food, all of which is provided at a reasonable price.
