We wanted to treat ourselves, and chose to try Turnips, which is a fruit and vegetables shop during the day, located inside the Borough Market, who recently launched a restaurant in the interesting and unusual setting of a food market. We were looking for a great dining experience, and we were not disappointed! We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and everything was so good and really prepared with love and felt looked after by the staff, who explained the dishes and the wines that came with them. Our favourite dishes were the oysters (really, really WOW) and the slow cooked duck breast. The desserts were also to die for, is the pastry chef a magician? Each dish had many flavours and textures in it, but once you took the bite you could taste every single ingredient, in my opinion it was really impressive.

Went to Borough Market as part of a family day out to London. We were wandering around looking for some lunch and I literally followed the amazing smell and found Turnips. I ordered the mixes wild mushrooms on bulgar wheat with cheese. Tasted as good as it smelled. Some of the grains were a bit hard but that's to be expected. I highly recommended it if you are ever that way!!

Absolutely in love with this place. Mushroom man stirs an enormous pan of mushroom risotto to lure you in...once inside, discover so many exotic mushrooms! Even a mushroom sampler punnet! Huge large produce. Spicy peppers! Giant bunches of herbs. Eggs. Baby carrots and turnips. Huge leeks. Omg.

From start to finish, what a delightful experience. My friends and I visited at the start of December and wow, both the food and service was phenomenal. We had the paired tasting menu (highly recommend) followed by the cocktails - the best spicy margarita in London? Can’t wait for next outing! Thanks Turnips :)

Have got some great produce from the stalls many of times, now they have opened up the Bar and Restaurant in The Borough Market which was simply brilliant - it was my first restaurant out of lockdown and was in such a nice outdoor/open space which was a comfortable experience. The food was off the clock 👏 kudos to the team bringing the market back in such a great way. Looking forward to showing friends.

Turnips Borough Market have just opened an amazing pop-up style bar/restaurant in the evening once the Market usually closes. It has a very cool vibe, fine wines, tasty cocktails and an amazing menu! Will definitely be going back!

We had a late lunch and it was a lovely experience. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful as well as friendly and the food was superb. Every single dish was fresh and tasty, we ate every last bit and will be returning again soon.

Wow! What a unique eating experience. Because it is located in the open air, right in the middle of the Market, the place has such a vibrant buzz about it! We had cocktails to start with at the bar and they were delicious - sooooo fruity!! Then we moved over to the open market area and sat down for our meal. I was literally facing Southwark Cathedral- what a backdrop! Then the food arrives and it is Michelin Star quality! OMG You’ve got to try this place and go for the full experience!!

Please try their mushroom risotto and pizza - you won't be disappointed. Only reason this is not a 5-star is that their fruit and veggie are quite pricey, given that this is a competitive market and you can get equally high quality products at a lower price.

We came across this wonderful stall on our visit to Borough Market. They have so many different varieties of fruit & veg, many of which we hadn't even heard of before! The beautiful mushroom display deserves a special mention, was almost like a piece of art. All the fresh produce reminded us of local markets back in India. It was one of the highlights of our London trip!

Fabulous selection of wild mushrooms all in excellent condition. Not cheap but very good. Zoom in to see the selection. The spelt wheat mushroom risotto topped with fried wild mushroom mix, made on site as a take away, is very tasty indeed!

This is the oldest, biggest and most wonderful shop in the Borough Market, and a regular stop for me! Some of the fruit and vegetables they sell i have never seen before, the produce is incomparable to the norm that is sold in the supermarkets - i never knew 'normal fruits' such as grapes, apples or strawberries could taste so good and different! I was shocked to find all the different outdoor grown tomatoes there which i have only come across in the South of France before! Some of the prices do match the rarity of the produce that is on sell (i believe lots are imported from all over), but quite often they will have an alternative cheaper version. A must for a Londoner! :)

One of the saving graces of Borough Market which is in danger of otherwise becoming a middle class food court selling organic ostrich burgers to tourists. This is reliably the best fruit and vegetable stall (and stall is a bit of an understatement really - it's a market all by itself). Lots of really good fresh produce here, highlights for me including an impressive selection of unusual apple varieties from Brogdales - the National Fruit Collection - including the splendid Cornish Aromatic. Also a decent array of wild mushrooms on my last visit, in October. I believe the owner is actually called Mr Turnip. An excellent name for a greengrocer.
