Reviews of Preston Market
T. A.
Small bar + outside seating. Good choice of craft beers. 2 real ales on both Good .service good.
C. E.
Great little market covered by a large roofed building good for the Lancashire ever flowing rain, inside there's a massive selection of meats from local butchers, seafood, and cheeses and eggs, they sometimes also have goose eggs for sale, quite an experience to try those out!
M.
Enjoyed working on the market. Lovely customers, friendly atmosphere, and thanks to the canopy roof keeps dry despite weather.
J. H.
It's a lovely small old fashioned indoor market, took a lady who I was caring for there today, lovely cafe, great staff, and a general good community feel, thank you👍
A. W.
Beautiful well maintained old building...
Clean & lots on offer.
Also...the Amazing... Wallace and Grommit bench.....great for Pics..
H. W.
Super new building with modest but eclectic variety of indoor/outdoor stalls which fits in well with the surrounding Victorian grandeur. Near the world class bus station building too. Certainly worth a visit...
C. K.
Love the market, good food at good prices. Love the little cafes there too.
P. W.
The outside area of the market seems to be nothing more than a flea market and inside is generally just a few food stalls, however, we did have a quick snack at Aunt Dolly's and both the bacon barms and the soup were decent for the price.
C. A.
Nice little town with tons of college students

The New Preston Market
Preston Market has undergone an amazing transformation with a new market hall built under the 1875 Market Canopy and an innovative Box Market under the Fish Market canopy.
The glass and timber clad structure of the new market hall will provide a modern and contemporary shopping experience for customers whilst the Box Market - which takes inspiration from markets in London - will offer something a little different not seen anywhere else in the northwest.
M. K.
Another little gem of a place. Hot chocolate to die for!! Lovely warm cozy seating and the staff were polite and helpfull. Highly recommended
s. b.
Good selection of different foods and lovely cafe's,
E. W.
I love Preston my friend and I go at least 1or 2 a week I live in Blackburn it's not very good at the moment Preston is a much better shopping centre
A. B.
Not many stalls open outdoors on a Monday
Indoors plenty of fresh fruit and meat stalls and various other outlets.
Plenty of places to have a snack or a meal.
F. J.
Not been for many years but glad we went, love the look of the new market and glad to see that they kept some of the outdoor side too go and try it yourselves.
S. K.
Amazing produce and lovely people. If only it was bigger!
L. H.
Got a great coffee and a tasty food at great prices.
A. R.
There's two stalls my husband and I have been going to for ham, cakes and fresh sausage and a veg stall and they are the best 👌
S. B.
Very good, and I would say it better than good. Now it has a roof on it, it has toilets
A. C.
Great to see the market regeneration not been for a good few years the old market was looking tired. This is an example of what can be done. Great improvement
M. G.
It's ok but not a patch on the old market with 2 floors
I'm just one that doesn't like change there's been way too much of it since my childhood growing up here
s. m.
Good to look around. Range of shops from fruit and vegetables, fish and meat and cakes also restaurants an coffee shop.
A. W.
I love shopping at the market because all the people serving are helpful
T. B.
A truly traditional marketplace, which are sadly being phased out by on line market places. Visited and decided to have breakfast at the cafe there, think its called 'pollys place'... If you are in the area and want food, truly recommend this place, all the locals seem to use it which says it all. Great food at very reasonable prices.
M. R.
Great to see markets still going. Good place to have a mooch about with some great local produce available.
S. M.
Great little market. We like the foody bit and the fleamarket bit too
l. d.
Not like the old market the old market had alot more shops to choose from, but its beautifully designed an plenty of cafés shoe shops an food markets to shop at lots of friendly trades.
M. D.
Had a full English breakfast. Lovely food and great friendly staff.
W. B.
Not as good as it used to be. Still a good variety of stalls.
P. C.
It has changed since I was last there but enjoyed it anyways
I. C.
Great day out but very cold great selection of stalls butcher was great bought loads
j. j.
Great little market, indoor and outdoor, good fresh produce and the best butchers I have ever bought sausage from (as well as other meats) and of course for the vegetarians there is a wide selection of fruit and veg, give the place a visit, and maybe buy some parched peas from the hot potato van. 👍
N. S.
It's good ...very simple.
D. K.
Went to orchard get choice is drinks and great spot for people watching
E. C.
Such a variety of produce
... much improvement from years gone past
b. c.
Love it ... It is always busy, Bustling and full of variety and friendly faces
G. T.
Fishergate has all the usual national and multinational stores but I was looking for top local produce and certainly found it in the covered market. Unfortunately I was pushed for time so I wasn't able to try either of the independent tea/coffee shops onsite but so pleased to find a top cheese stall/fishmonger/butcher/deli/ greengrocer all with top quality wares. Another part I saw but hadn't time to explore compromised an array of daily stalls next to the permanent ones. Well worth a visit if only for some wonderful Lancashire cheese (choose from creamy mild, tasty and crumbly or better still, all three!)
J. B.
Some very nice, original and unique stalls on the right days. Great food local too. Cycles Away isn't far from there either
S. M.
Got some lovely cheese from pickles and some beer from priest town across the way (then a cheeky half in the orchard bar). Great local produce.
G. B.
Great market with something for everyone at bargain prices.
S. H.
Lots of lovely stalls and places to eat and drink. Pickles cheese stall will even send out cheese hampers for gifts all over the country. Wallace and Gromit bench is good photo opportunity
S. A.
It's got some good food stalls in there. I've recently been buying a bit of salad and veg as it's so much better than what's offered in a supermarket, but it comes at a cost obviously. There isn't the same number of stalls in Preston Market, so choice is limited. Still worth a visit though. 😊
P. S.
Bit crowded.Stalls bunched up.Not as much selection as old market.Having said that the stall holders who are there are a friendly lot.
R. W.
Just a good old fashioned market. Good selection of shops.
r. h.
Yes, I went to Preston and I love it. It has great cafes and charity shops. Gregg's has very nice sandwiches. Preston has some good museums and art galleries. I can see why Alexander Luke Walker moved there.
B. z.
The Preston covered market isn't as big or as good as it used to be. The old indoor market was larger and spread over two floors, it just needed investment and modernization in the same way the Arndale center has been in Manchester.
0. B.
Visited yesterday and was really impressed with the quality and variety of foods As I normally just shop in supermarkets it was like a breath of fresh air to see local foodstuffs on offer I bought Butter pies , they are a delicious local delicacy and very popular and some plump Eccles cakes bursting with raisins and so Moreish from a bakery and from a butcher I bought some black pudding which was square shaped (unusual ) some sliced haggis and picked up a couple of juicy looking beef short ribs. There was so much lovely food on offer I could have gone berserk if the wife didn’t drag me away. If you love good food then do yourself a favour and check it out. I will definitely return sooner rather than later.
H. L.
As a family, we have a long history of visiting this market, seen it evolve over the years! it's important to us still, spent many hours & picked up so many things here!
D. B.
Interesting selection of stalls, good atmosphere, but on a windy day you need to wrap up warm for the outside stalls. Dont miss the Wallace and Gromit statue at the entrance facing Orchard Street.
A. B.
It's a nice little place, little being the operative word as is much smaller than what it replaced with at least 30% of the floor space taken up with food places cafe etc meaning in terms of the classics (green grocers, butchers..) there isn't much choose or variety.
B. S.
The area is getting better, visited in a time of Covid lockdown release and it was very quiet. As well as the new building , there are permanent small shops around it where you you can buy ale, coffee, food, clothes, whacky goods and the classic meat & food stalls you'd expect of a market. Shame they didn't go for a larger indoor building, it's small compared to the market it replaces.
B. B.
Its had a lot of criticism but my town has lost its market and I think the updated look is great. A lovely range of beautifully presented fresh produce tempted the eye. I will definitely make an effort to come to shop here.
A. P.
Love Preston Market, lots of nice stalls at a resenable price.
P. C.
A disappointing place for city status. Original market had many stalls.
K. B.
the market was good the seat outside of tv duo is brilliant
P. G.
Great refurbishment, though some of the stalls ain't what they were a few years ago. There's a pub though now selling decent craft beers which almost makes up for it!
L. M. A.
As an born prestonian I have mixed feelings over the new indoor market. Its cold inside in winter and stall holders are charged too much rent for the privilege of a few glass panels to the sides (roof is still exposed in places)
The council ruined what was once the hub of Preston Town with this renovation unfortunately.
Moving on to my actual visit. Visited wades banana King, lovely fresh products (admittedly now relocated just outside of the market) but indoors I used the cheese counter where the original staff still own/work, always pleasant and a lovely array of local cheeses which melt in the mouth.
Sadly so many empty stalls now as traders are leaving for cheaper rents and better maintained premises.
The market will always have a place in my heart but it is no longer the place to go 💔
Hope the council find some more money to fix the mess caused by the so called renovations and bring traders back!
I. H.
Preston Market food hall is a real asset to Preston so many people ignore, give up pre packaged supermarket food and use the market, you won’t regret it, and have some craft beer at The Orchard Bar to refresh yourself too
P. K.
Excellent spot, great carboot on Tuesday, loads of stalls, great indoor coffee shops and cafes. Ideal place if you want to find a bargain
A. W.
The hot pork barms with some potato wedges marinaded in mint sauce from Redmans in the market are simply the best, and friendly staff too, thank you for the good grub.
C. H.
The market has been done up and looks great. It's lost the individuality of the old market and feels corporate and like everywhere else sadly, but that being said it's a nice place to go now
Y. C.
Nice selection of local produce. Needs more hot food stalls/more international cuisine.
G. T.
Great for meeting up with friends
P. M.
A wide variety of food stalls and other items too. Good place. Also fine eaterys as well.
j. j.
Always enjoy the market, nice environment. Love the Wallice and Gromit tribute statue.
R. M.
A good market indoor and out door lots of food outlets inside a couple of good cafes too also out doors is a cracking book stall called the book stops here for all you book worms .
M. C.
Excellent market and clean with a good atmosphere. Can buy everything including fruit and veg, meat, fish, pies, cheese plus cafes and street food counters.
W. R.
It's OK but not much there, except a lovely cafe on the entrance, called "Aunt Dolly" with helpful and friendly staff. The food is great.
B. R.
Livesey's butchers are so friendly and knowledgeable, not been for ages, (we live 20 miles away) but they still remember us. We'll be back again soon.
N. W.
I had a great experience while shopping on the market. I'm really looking forward to the car boot sales especially now things are starting to get back to normal.Happy shopping.
P. B.
Nice to see Wallace and Gromit. Interesting market. Looking forward to my next visit.
H. N.
I like the new market. Local produce is of excellent quality. The old market however had many more stalls and greater variety. The stallholders are friendly and knowledgeable but a lot of my old friends did not transfer to the new site. Hopefully there will be new stalls yet to come.
N. C.
Great range of shops, #Cherrypiecoffeeshop is incredible value for money with excellent staff, wonderful choice of food plus 1st class drinks
S. B.
The new outdoor indoor market under the roof looks impressive. The place is nowhere near as big as it was, and there aren't the small hidden away stalls that there used to be for all your hardware, or haberdashery needs. It has gone very upmarket (no pun intended). The one thing that I don't like the idea of is the containers on the small market. They take up too much space and so there are only a handful of them as small shops.
T. T.
Lovely stall holders, good choice of goods, but bad advertising the times for the out door market are different to the rest of the market. Even met a lovely lady who gave us a discount on an aftershave spray. Lovely people.
J. S.
I remember the old Preston market and this was my first visit to the renovated one. Whilst it has been tastefully upgraded by keeping historical features combined with contemporary lines it is somewhat lacking - the number of stalls has greatly reduced (though this could be said for many market towns) I liked it but was expecting something more....
A. G.
Great shops and bars
y. b.
Modern spacious place enclosed lots of stalls, nor as many as used to be,but that's the cost of overheads, too expensive for small shop owners.
J. R.
New market very nice, but disappointed that there are a lot fewer stalls. Nearly all food.
S. B.
Very surprised seeing it all refurbished. The grocery stall was amazing with massive apples and beautiful fresh fruit and veg. Wil be returning asap
D. H.
Good mix of stalls and eateries. Most recommended place to eat is crunchy croutons, where Dave and Joe will serve you anything you like from the menu with a smile on their faces and give good banter too. Cost and quality of the food is excellent.
M. A.
Few towns are left with their markets in tact, even fewer have glorious Victorian architecture to frame their markets. Preston is among the fine examples of Northern towns who haven't sacrificed their heritage to modern Folly.
M. M.
The new and upgraded Preston market looks modern and stylish. The new inside section allows the opportunity to enjoy the selection of coffee shops inside where it is warmer. On the other side the more outdoor section has also been given an overhaul. The new units allow for quite a diverse selection of well established businesses and new pop ups the opportunity to offer unique and traditional selection of goods. Overall the mix of the old traditional market area under the original roof which looks spectacular all clean and restored contrasts well with the new modern enclosed section which offers shelter in those cold winter months. This is a great market and we'll worth a visit in all weather.
D.
It seems nice but being visually impaired I can't find what I want. It is small so there isn't a lot of stalls. It isn't that warm in the winter. There are a lot of cafes. I can't find the pet stall that I went to with my guide dog.
R. G.
Brilliant market place, with everything you need and expect from a market including a bar :)
T. M.
Nice indoor Market and good cafes inside
Quite a few shops closed outside.
M. F.
Some good stalls here, but a lot of the better ones have gone now since they modified it. It might look good from the outside, but it still very cold in the autumn and winter. I would of expected better for the amount it cost to build this.
M.
I remember when this was all just wooden tables thrown together and peoples/shops goods placed around. Now it is a permanent fixture with talls set out nicely along with little cafes placed around in little nooks, The best place so far is where you can get fresh homemade soup. Just lovely.
B. B.
You can get the best Cumberland sausages and jellied pork pies in Lancashire here, and there is a real ale pub bolted on as well.
J. A.
First time I've been to the new market and am very disappointed. The little market had a few shops in shipping containers, the indoor market had a few small stalls crammed into a small area and what was left of the outside stalls was abysmal. The atmosphere has gone
Yes the hard landscaping in the area looks good and at least they kept the old roof but what a shame RIP, go to Chorley or Blackburn instead.
a. h.
New improved market looks great. Some of the old stalls are missing but the atmosphere is still there. There is still some finishing required but overall well worth a visit. I miss the bakery that sold the Polish bread.
E. P.
Great range of goods, always cheerful and helpful traders in the covered Market, my favourite eatery is Brew&Bake. Delicious food!
K. P.
I enjoyed shopping there but it seems much smaller now that it had moved to the new venue .
P. C.
Small local producers friendly , good quality, fair priced was isn't there to like??
M. W.
Great place to go with so many stalls to fulfill your needs, the out door bit was quite good too
E.
Preston Market has had a brilliant overhaul and looks very modern, clad in glass walls most of the way round it is now a wonderful little enclosed market with a good variety of stalls including cafes, sweets, groceries and meats! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
S. P.
Like the new layout lots of familiar faces which is what I wanted to see. Toilets very accessible but why a bar not a good idea when people asked for stalk and were refused. I miss Gary Singh and his spices I've used him for 30 years not the same without him.
E. B.
I can see where they were they were going with the concept but it just doesn't quite work. It almost looks like it hasn't been finished yet. Maybe when the rest of the site is redeveloped and something is done with the surrounding streets it might become the cosmopolitan concept that was aimed for. The Indian Street food stall was excellent with friendly chaps great samosas.
P. R.
Great place to browse WASHING MACHINES, and also Cat biscuits.
G. R.
Not been here in a while (a year). Where/when did the indoor part go? Anyway good crowd of stall holders, all helpful.
t. g.
Still settling up at the moment so a few stalls having work done. Good vibe with local musicians playing. Hope people enjoy the new set up and support local businesses. Stall holders always make you feel welcome.
e. r.
Absolutely love the new drinking establishment 'The Orchard'. Great selection of craft beers, gins, ciders and wine. I will definitely be back as there are too many to try in one visit.
C. Y.
Excellent food stalls, butchers green grocers, even a bar .
M. S.
Still feels like a good old fashioned market in places. Centrally located and close enough to parking. Some fantastic stalls which you can't find the likes of elsewhere. Only complaint would be that it could be better maintained.
A. H.
I have no idea what preston city council was thinking when they built this small market. It’s freezing inside. Poor stall holders must be so fed up with being cold all the time. You would have thought they would have fully enclosed it in some way and made it the full length of the market. I cannot believe wades cannot get a decent size stall in there either. Some of the stalls are out of place and I cannot say that I would like to visit the market for a drink and food as it’s too cold, rather dear at the coffee bar and not sure about sitting on a stool near the tapas stall when it’s busy and freezing. All in all not good at all. Let’s just hope they get the place sorted before the bad weather comes in for the store holders! Cooked meats and butchers are great.
R. S.
I like the new layout of this place even if there aren't as many stalls outside with people selling things now but there's always different people every time, a lot of them are the same people but always have decent stuff, the inside building is good too with a variety of stalls/cafes, I'm not too keen on the way they've done the toilets though as it's quite small and cramped in the space to wait and they're not separate toilets for different genders.
A. H.
Sadly the new market is not as good as the old one. Too small a space, cramped stalls the floor is not level. Poor layout. The toilets are a nightmare shared sex and not that clean it's embarrassing to use toilets in so close proximity to the opposite sex. It feels like going on a male urinals in a pub. Preston council planners please visit Blackburn indoor market on a Saturday and you will see a real market.
H. H.
Preston Market Hall
The new Market Hall opened in February 2018. The glass and timber clad steel structure of the new market hall provides a modern and contemporary shopping experience for customers.
Within the Market Hall there is an abundance of fresh and local quality meat, fish, vegetables and dairy products. You will also find a treasure trove of goods from jewellery, hair and make-up to mobile phones, accessories and repairs.
Spending the day in Preston or heading to a show, there are cafes and hot food options to eat in or take away. Plus a real ale and cocktail bar, which is open late to start your evening right.
A. G.
I have always walked through the market even if I didn't plan on buying anything.
All the stall holders are so friendly in there. I normally only buy from a couple of stalls as to what I buy. Always Adrian Livesy's Butchers, wouldn't ever go anywhere else for my meat. Staff are so lovely, and quite dishy! But let's carry on lol . Value for money here is great also. They do a fantastic beef stir-fry! If u visit Livesy's, that's a must to try.
Also the cooked meat stall Arthur Strands, again a must if you want cooked ham, cold meats, pies etc. Fruit and veg is also available on a choice of stalls.
Free public toilets too!! And often being cleaned/ checked .
P. C.
Seems to be a shortage of vision by the local council. As a 'city' this market should be offering more. They have to attract shoppers into the city or it dies.
H. B.
Lovely little "Covered Market" close to Preston train and bus station and the pedestrian high street. A couple of fine butchers, a fishmongers, fruit and vege, and a choice of cafes. Second-hand books and other stalls outside - open air, but under roof - when I was there (Wednesday). Preston appears to have retained civic pride. It might not have a John Lewis etc., but you can shop there.
2.
Always a good set up. The indoor cafes and smells are great.
C. T.
Great place filled with some great stalls from butchers to green groccers. Now do my weekly shop there as its cheaper than a super market.
Highly recommend it if you are looking to support local shops and eat healthy.
J. E.
Never been there before. It was Christmas Eve so could account for fact that there was only a handful of stallholders. However the ladies I bought children's toys from as last minute present purchase were very attentive when advising me on possibilities for a 4 year old girl and an 8 year old boy
M. W.
This place looks amazing and is a pleasure to shop in. The stall holders have made such an effort inside and the quality of their products is good. I still shake my head over the original and now amended design for the glazed walls, everyone knows that it's always windy up Orchard St and on the corner of Miller Arcade and Fishergate! If you're looking for one of the best lunches ever buy a hot chicken barm with stuffing and apple sauce, omg !
T. C.
There wasn't a market on today but the indoor market and box markets were open. The indoor market is a little gem in terms of boutique style cafe/bar/deli/sweets, fruit n veg counters etc...
The box markets are a good idea as the owners can leave their items on site in their "box" which is like a shed and open when they choose, but making them a more permanent feature.
When the outdoor market is on it's a bounty of items, books, gardening, clothing, pet items, fabrics, household items and many more.
If you are in town it's always worth popping up to see what's going on.
J. T.
Open durung lock down. Fresh fruit & veg, butchers, cheese, bread, cakes. All local traders. Had a takeaway bacon butty & coffee lovely. Help supporr local business through lockdown.
F. A.
Not much variety inside, a good butchers though. Outside market not worth it. Shame as it used to be a brilliant place to shop.
P. L.
Went to the indoor part and enjoyed a sausage and egg sandwich at the Redmans Food Stall - lots of excellent cooked meats and next to them is a cheese and wine stall selling a huge variety of cheeses - well worth a visit if you are in town!
E. G.
Redmans of Preston is the place to get your lunch the most amazing succulent cooked chickens u will ever try also the hot barmcakes and baton well just try them you won't be disappointed also while there purchase some of there traditional sausages there beautiful
E. W.
Great place to look round and to see if you want something too they are helpful too if you need it as well too.
M. S.
Not a patch on the old one. This is tiny, claustrophobic and looks like it has cost £500 to build. Bring back the old indoor market which was excellent and had a great atmosphere.
D. F.
Very few stalls, not like it used to be
M. P. B.
Fantastic market with plenty of stalls to look and buy bargains. Well worth a visit best days are Saturdays. Parking isn't a issue. Plenty of cafés for that cuppa to keep you going.
J. W.
It's allright but I preferred the old market, there were more stalls with more variety
J. M.
Liveseys butchers for their January offers and excellent pork and black pepper sausages
J. F. R.
I visited Preston Market recently on Remembrance Sunday.
It is a good place to go to before the actual Remembrance Service begins on the Flag Market in Preston.
The reason for this is that you get to see and mingle with the soldiers from the local British Army Infantry Regiment,The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, before they march from Preston Market to the Flag Market in Preston.
It is interesting as you can see the amount of preparation the soldiers and officers put into the march itself and also worth noting the amount of pride and time that both the soldiers and officers put into their appearance for their duties on Remembrance Sunday.
It is also of interest to watch the soldiers fall in before they set off on the march to Preston Flag Market.
The precision they put into were they stand and the precision that the soldiers and officers put into the actual marching itself is admirable.
The soldiers and officers are true professionals.
What is also interesting is how the soldiers and officers work as a team together.
The relationship between the soldiers and officers is more informal than you would expect.
If you are interested in watching the British Army at work close hand I would recommend a visit to Preston Market on Remembrance Sunday before the actual Remembrance Service begins.
H. C.
Some nice shops and some good finds, give it a visit.
J. G. J.
Love the fishmongers and veg stalls here.
The fishmongers always has pomfret and sea breem which we love.
We tried one of the curries but it wasn't to my liking. But each to their own.
B. M.
Good little market needs more support.
T. H.
Preston Market is now a modern building which is the middleish top end of town. There are fruit and vwgmeat, fish stalls, a sweet stall, cafes, wigs, bags and makeup stall. I decided to buy fruit and veg from one of the stalls instead of going to the supermarket. My children had commented that the fruit tasted better and looked better than the fruit I bought from the local supermarket. There is also an outdoor market. The market is accessible for wheelchairs. The only down side is i think the main entrance should have been bigger or place more doors as at one point I struggled to get into the market due to people coming out. Otherwise a lovely market.
R. H.
Look out for Jonah's coffee in one of the market boxes. Really cool and friendly. Great cake.. I'm not a coffee drinker but their tea is good and everyone raves about the coffee.
s. m.
Preston market's always good when I can find a money earner.
J. C.
Hidden gem of a place.o e of nicest markets ive been too and lovely and clean...bonus is a lot of choice as regards eating establishment s... and the sandwich and wrap stall is one not too miss and so reasonable too..but .must go b4 3pm...to have a choice..very friendly too..highly recommend
A. J.
I love Preston Market, it is one of my favourite places and Preston is lucky to have such a structure. but today I visited the new market and thought there hasn't been a lot of thought put into it! No doubt a lot of money has been spent in creating a giant fridge! It's just a glorified outdoor market. I sat and had a coffee at one of the cafes and I came out of the market freezing cold, it seemed warmer outside. What the hell have they done to the fish market , what an insult to the glorious Victorian architecture. Maybe Preston City Council, it's best to go on a field trip to see how other places have done it or ask people with actual common sense and the folk that work on the market for their option.
S. S.
The concept and design appears fantastic with small independent traders with niche products. Well........ It was closing up for the day so that is what I imagine it's like!!! Genuinely, the setting is perfect with collanades and cobbles. Looking forward to hearing "pan a pan" (£ a lb) and the "2panabox" (£2 a box [box being of preselected fruit or veg or combination of both]) classic from the fruit & veg costers. The, what appears to be, cast iron weather proofing roof adds to the atmosphere.... Or was that an illusion?! Maybe this was a version of Lilly Allen's video for "LDN"!!!
I. T.
Yet another further modifications being. Traders moving in and out in quick succession. What is in there is good but needs time to bed in. Hopefully heating problem will fix before it is needed in the winter.
A. M.
I have to be honest and say that I prefer the old market layout, but I do admit it looks more modern and they have been sensitive with the modernisation. Some rather expensive stalls now though, and there just isn't the same choice any more.
D. P.
I get my tea and breakfast in the morning before I get the bus from the food stool in the back and the woman with the dyed hair is super cute.
M. M.
Preston indoor market running far behind schedule for completion. Teams working through the night to finish it as quickly as possible. A varied assortment of stalls and, it seems, a disproportionate number of stalls offering take-away food. Good potential once all the dust has settled!
—.
There nothing like it use to be the old indoor market as gone there is a new one not much there they taking half of the outdoor Market and put it there there is nothing to come to Preston I would if I could it nothing like the Preston.
J. O.
It's great value for money, especially the fruit and veg stall Matthew Wades which also has a salad bar with plastic containers. Help yourself to beetroot salad, potato salad, fresh Iceland lettuce, slaw and bean salad, then pay at the till! A great fresh lunch every day.
Upstairs the button counter never fails to draw my attention with its variety of buttons in cylindrical tubs with an example on the top. For just replacing a lost shirt button to making a hand-seen item or freshening up an old favourite, there are buttons for every occasion.
Preston Market is currently being updated and is difficult to reach from behind grey hoarding, however it does have disabled access and disability toilets next to the Market building itself. Its opening hours are 9-5,30 Monday to Saturday. Its stalls are so varied and cheap that it can supply people with meals for a week. Definitely worth a look.
J. W.
Great shops staff always helpful
M. A.
They are doing a great job here. Smashing stall holders and more choice since it first opened. Go Tuesdays and take in the car boot outside but under cover. Some real characters.
D. C.
One of the best markets in the North West. Plenty of choice, friendly people, inexpensive too, and they have all kinds of live music going on when you go. Worth a visit when you go to Preston.
V. M.
If you fancy some curry goat, peas and rice. For sure to get some in here.. delicious. Lots of stalls.. from hair pieces to food. So much better now.
D. S.
The cafe at Preston Market.. cherry 🍒 pie and coffee ☕ is fantastic 👏 really friendly staff and its a lovely place to sit . Me and my son love it ..
D. E.
It's OK as Markets go I would say.
Used to be better before the "update"
B. B.
Only half the market open outside now. Good stalls , though why they are enclosing the rest I do not know. The work is killing the indoor market and half the indoor stalls are empty,n this place has lost its buzz. Happen the council are trying to kill it off to sell to Tesco or Asda
B. E. (.
Nicely done up since I was last here, good selection of stalls and really central.
A. B.
Had a cracked mobile phone replaced by U R Fones. They gave fast efficient friendly service and I saved plenty on quoted costs by other shops. Would definitely recommend them.
A. D.
Preston market is great for anyone in need of fresh food or a bite to eat as it offers both cafes, a butchers stall and a fresh grocers. There is also a small bar if you want a drink and toilets available inside. The open covered area offers stalls for use by market traders trading in everything from CDs to kitchen appliances to secondhand clothing.
Pros:
Plenty of store choices
Toilets available
Cafes with seating areas indoors
Cons:
Often very busy
D. D.
Brilliant place to visit lovely breakfast at Aunty Dolly's highly recommended
K. خ. B. ب.
Very organised market
K. C. S.
Lovely Indian food stall, wonderful samosas, friendly owner. Great prices!
c. u.
Love this place. it's only small but wide range of food for sale - ingredients and ready to eat
s. h.
Few stalls but good under cover market windy day all good
A. M.
Fantastic fresh food ... you won't find fish any fresher than the fish stall on here, excellent selection & would definitely recommend to anyone
A. H.
Even though new doors have been put on the market it’s still freezing inside. The poor stall holders looked frozen and their were several staff who had colds. Not good for them or the customers.
S. C.
Despite the cold weather outside the welcoming atmosphere and good selection of eating choices was excellent. A far better environment than the dilapidated old market.
T. H.
Proper Lancashire market. Excellent fresh produce together with a number of Asian food stalls which offer homemade pakoras, bhajis and samosas. Nice coffee shops with outdoor seating plus an interesting ale bar. Worth dropping into.
J. M.
Excellent fresh food and much cheaper than the Supermarkets plus NO plastic packaging.
E. M.
Looks ok. I'm from Preston and I preferred the old version tho I appreciate nothing stays the same forever. I'm not impressed with the old fish market area tho. Too few stalls.
A. H.
Council knackered this one up, freezing windy glass roofless structure. Decent cafe inside, worth a visit for a bacon sarnie.
J. C.
Fantastic what they have done with the market. Clean and cheery. Still keeping the outside market and all the shops around. Really enjoyed my visit
B. I.
Shops in Newish building made to look olddi worldy with a modern approach
s. s.
Had lunch at Crunchy Croutons, inside the market. Fabulous soups and brilliant service, pancakes look amazing but couldn't manage one after soup and a club sandwich.
D. L.
The new outdoor layout is super nice, but so many empty spots already :( what’s that all about?
If they actually managed to fill it, it would be a huge improvement.
A. W.
For me one of the best things about Preston, with a number of small independent businesses worth supporting.
B. F.
Today was flea market,my favourite kind. I was looking for Paddington Bear at the station. I paid £4, which was okay.its a coin50p to be exact I don't mind. Anyway, there's plenty to rumage thru. Jewelry, second hand clothes, old toys, and antiques. There's also an indoor market, with asain food butchers and fruit, plus a couple of cafés
K. Y. -. F.
If you want good quality meat visit any of the butchers theres plenty of fruit & veg stalls to. Looking forward to the new market opening in December 17
L. G.
Could be so much better....small, crowded & not really what a market should be..its trying to be a food hall. Draughty, cold & wasted outside space. The traders & customers deserve better.
S. Y.
Great for your shopping
A. H.
Not really a market now more a food hall its ashame Preston used to be a great market town ashame on the powers that b
T. H.
I've only visted Preston Market at night for photography, but that was good enough!
S.
Since modernisation it really isn't the same. However, there is a couple of butchers that have a great range of fresh meat.
A. B.
Preston market has undergone a massive refurbishment, to me it is a massive disappointment, there is now only a fraction of stalls as before, taking away the choice and competition. This is no longer a destination for shopping rather than somewhere you would just pass through.
L. N.
Great coffee at Brew and Bake. Loads of options for fresh fruit, veg, butcher's and fishmongers! Looks great now it's been revamped
j. a.
Great carboot friendly local people had a good day!
A. C.
Good food for good prices, love how they have done up the place. Good for a coffee, breakfast, sandwich and a slice of cake
I.
Preston indoor market, excellent fresh meat and vegetables, soon to be moved out to the outdoor market,.Which will be enclosed under the Victorian cast iron canopy, the castings made in Preston. The indoor market will be demolished to develop a new cinema complex and restaurant.
S. H.

i. a.
Was well impressed with the new enclosed food stalls. Did not have anything as had already eaten. But will do next visit
K. B.
Bottom of the open market is now enclosed, containing shops and cafes etc. Very nice, no expense spared. Well worth a visit.
R. G.
Has quite the upgrade done, I have to recommend the hot food place...the sausage, flavoured nuggets and Sunday roast in a Yorkshire pudding wrap.
J. S.
Indoor Market open most days, With an Outdoor Carboot once a week.
C. E.
Old indoor market closed 12/2/18 new market good experience, but some stalls not yet finished. Stallholders hope to be trading by Monday 26/2/18.Outside flea-market lots of traders on Tue 20/2 .Busy..

Epicentre of apostrophe catastrophes. Redman's of Preston: guilty as charged.
J. T.

H. L.
Preston market is sooo good!! I love it.. also i really like the first cafe that you see when you walk in called Brew + Bake .
S. G.
Such a shame to see the once mighty Preston market reduced to a few stalls. This end of town is looking very sad. Needs some love and investment
S. C.
All the hustle and bustle of the market with unexpected things to discover. The mmetman there cuts a prime T-Bone.
He tells me he has the best hung meet in Lancashire
D. T.
Fantastic ....... especially Momoz Street Food, Jonah's Coffee Shop and Priest Brewing Beer shop.
J. S.
Small but nice, a selection of food stalls, fancy goods, butchers. Plus small outdoor area for carbooters & regulars
w. w.
Good variety of stalls and cafés, new stalls opening soon and a good little bar.
S. D.

It's currently undergoing renovation so be interesting to see in a year will possibly review again then. It's OK some good stalls most so so
S. B. (.
The new market has so much good food in it! Take someone to carry your shopping and extra cool bags.

Love Preston market, especially the fish stall. I could spend a fortune there. Great choices.
C. P.
Nice new building, but not many stalls. Plenty of places to get something to eat. A bit disappointed.
M. C.
As with all things human, the market in Preston once vibrant with local life, has emerged with a smaller, less vibrant reflection, gasping for the breath that kept it alive in the past..
E. G.
Meat from Livesey's is excellent, proper butchers with everything you want prepared how you want it
Right price right quality with friendly service I would recommend them to any meat buyer. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
M.
I bought Cheese and meat preston market is brill but i miss the old fruit and veg market.
S. N.
Despite only a small number of stalls being open - possibly due to the redevelopment - it still had a good selection for choice
G. R.
Quite nice but it's just not as good as the old market and probably a quarter or less in size, they should have kept the old market.
J. B.
Variety of stalls.. Enjoyed looking at the antiques stall.
J. C.
