Reviews of Tesco Extra

Great store. It is spacious, well stocked with a nice layout! If I had one comment, can the currency exchange be open on Sunday?
B. H. t. s. a. i. t. U.
We have a lovely lady we do a click n collect from on a monday we're regulars at this point and its always nice to say hi. The store is huge with upstairs selling kitchen electricals and clothes for adults and children, theres even a cafe. The tescos value section is well stocked and good quality. U may have to figure out all the names as meat is one thing and chocolate is another (Mollys is the chocolate) highly recomend.
C. B.
Our usual supermarket - for many good reasons. Lovely till staff, good range of products and fully accessible.
H. “. H.
I was served by a young man at station 13 this morning. What a wonderful young man, so polite and friendly. Tesco should be proud of him.
G. M.
Very good size store, great cafe. Only downers is parking is a abit of a nightmare as well as driving out the store
t. f.
Not to busy no ques lots in-store clothes, kitchenware bedding and food shop . Few good savings fruit and veg etc
Y. P.
Very big 2 story shop. Has trolley use able escalator. Not a shop for those in a hurry.
1.
Good bits: Huge Supermarket with ALL varieties covered under one roof!!! Fresh fruit and Veg section, Flowers, Bakery, Delicatessen, fishmonger, butcher, Full electrical section upstairs, mobile phones, kitchen appliances, televisions, stereos, speakers, CD's, Games, clothing, DVD's, Toys, and it's own Tesco's Cafe which is good (Serves full english breakfasts, Hot cooked lunches, deserts, biscuits, tea, coffee) and isn't an expensive outlet like Costa, Starbucks Or Crispy Kreme doughnuts unlike lots of other Tesco superstores. This Tesco has it all. Other facilities include: Disabled access and Lift facility with Toilets. It also offers other additional services such as Key cutting and dry cleaning, Beaurau De Change booth, and a photo-me photo booth.
Bad bits: The entry and exit system from the car park leading up to the B3397 Hamble Lane roundabout needs a re-think. It gets far too overcrowded and the gridlock getting out of Tesco can be just like leaving central London and it shares the exit road with all the traffic trying to leave the Tesco petrol station at the same time which adds to it. And some of the staff here can be very rude and awful to you at times. Out of all the Tesco superstores I've been to across the whole board. This Tesco has always been the worst for staff relations with customers. It seems they are lacking in any customer service skills and even the customer service desk they are no better. During the day time and especially during Valentine's, Easter, and Christmas it tends to be very bangy, pushy and busy, like walking through the London Piccadilly circus underground. And there seems to be a lot of rudeness, rage, and anger in amongst the shoppers themselves.
Y. P.
Big 2 story shop with trolly usable escalator. Not a place to shop in a hurry. So much to look at.
b. H.
Have found the store ok but I tried to join the smartphone experience but nobody was at hand to assist me?
P. W.
Clean store and great choice of products
P. L.
Wonderful breakfast..... all for £7.19. Cafe open from 8am.
D. A. W.
Good Tesco Extra. Parking slightly tricky getting out, and awkward junction, poorly positioned as it has been for years. Nit the shop's fault.
J. C. (. &. P. X.
Just my typical local supermarket. Best in the neighborhood. Never really had a problem unlike anywhere else. Nowadays I just get my groceries delivered instead also from here. Can't remember the last time I have been here in person.
M. L.
I used click & collect. There was no queue and no fuss, the groceries were ready for me when I turned up, and social distancing protocol was observed. My only quibble is that the bananas I bought were already past their best.
B. A.
Got everything you could possibly need! Clothing has a great selection and store is organised well.
Parent and child spaces need a trolley hut nearby. You have to walk almost all the way back to the entrance to put your trolley back after you have loaded your lil ones and shopping in your car. Not great!
J. T.
Hello Tesco, I visited yesterday and was very pleased with the food available - even beer and toilet rolls are plentiful so that's a great improvement on last week. However can you please do something more about pickers social distancing? All through the store you have put distancing markings and 'traffic' direction flow indicators and these are excellent. However on several occasions people pushed in front of me to pick items on the shelf directly in front or behind of me with total disregard for social distancing. I hate to say it but it was the pickers doing this. They are probably picking for someone much needier than me who can't get to the store. I hate to say that it was mainly non-english pickers who were mostly doing this. Can you please advise pickers to consider social distancing rules. Thank you.
E. W.
Always a great shopping experience, wide range of products, and not too busy, the car park is very large and unless you are a parent with kids or blue badge holder, then it's quite a walk from the car. Staff are helpful.
W. G.
I can check prices as I go and it tots up the bill on the way. Easy checkout with less queuing and often no queue at all. Shopping is bagged as I go which save time later. Alcohol and security tags slow things down if it's busy. Overall, a much more convenient way to shop.
H. L.
Staff I've come accross are always helpful and friendly. Shelves are always stocked and good selection. Wait times aren't too bad.
Toilet facilities, with disabled and baby changing.
Petrol/diesel station on site with either pay at pump or pop into their mini store. A self car wash and air/water/screenwash.
The only downside is the system to exit the site, you can spend up to a good half hour on busy days! (Please can a alternative exit be considered!)
G. R.
A regular shopper and I find the store well stocked at all times. What I really wanted to tell everyone I ordered a Christmas meal for two from their pre-booked orders as we are away in our motorhome. I would like to thank Tesco very much this meal was amazing and it only cost £35. I'm a very good cook and i could not fault this meal and even better not much washing up required either. Next year try it you won't be disappointed. Well done Tesco and thank you.
L. D.
Good stock for a small outlet
G. P.
The shop itself is ok for products and quite well stocked. However it is in great need of a makeover, Some of the shelves are definately in need of a very deep clean especially the milk and meat stands that are best not touched for fear of sticking to them. The staff are friendly with the exception of managers who seem to walk around avoiding eye contact at all times. I know people who have worked in store and compare Tesco unfavorably with Sports Direct.....Sad
V. P.
Wonderful bakery. I asked to pre order some rolls for a christening and the bakery manager Dan was so helpful literally couldnt do enough. Helped take the stress out of worrying if I would have enough rolls on the day. Well done Dan.

This has been my nearest supermarket ever since I moved to Southampton over ten years ago. It is a very large store - the ground floor is where all of the traditional groceries live, with the mezzanine containing electricals, clothing, toys, some home ware, and the cafe.
I've only found the choice lacking on a couple of occasions, but to be fair, what I was looking for would only normally be found in a deli or specialist food store. I've never found the prices to be astronomical, but it pays to look around the store as I sometimes find cheaper options of the same product in a different section.
As with all retailers, Tesco will swap parts of the store around throughout the year, leading to a couple of weeks of confusion if you follow a set route around the store (I do).
The staff always seem to be friendly and helpful, though as I use the self-scan options most of the time (handheld scanners, and the self-scan tills), I sometimes find the staff do not notice the flashing lights atop the tills and have to be called over to sort out any issues.
S. S.
Great store where you can get almost everything. However a little bit inconsequent eg you can find nuts in 4 different departments, coconut milk in tins on 2 different shelves one costing nearly double as much as the other. Aubergine is far away from baby aubergine and in general finding veg is quite a challenge as placement of some product is absolutely not reasonable. What's the logic behind that I don't know 😉
M. D.
Tesco ok for shopping but some of their products not good like their light bulbs..as soon as you accidentally knock em they go plink even if new & protected by a lampshade
A. B.
I love Tesco. I started shopping in their 2 local shops, Bursledon and Fareham because of the range of items you could get there and specially Fareham where their prices are so competitive.
K. C.
Hi this isn't regarding your website but I couldnt find a review page for your store itself, was in your store today with my 2 year old son who was throwing tantrums left right and centre, and instead of getting the normal dirty looks to shut my kid up, 3 members of Your staff offered to help me with my son and my shoping, one even said well done mum to me for how calm I was.really gutted I didn't get the names of these 3 staff, but I just wanted to say thank you so much and your all a credit to this store.
B. S.
Tesco's, always enjoy shopping here when visiting Southampton, yesterday 6/9/2016, two of us stopped for lunch in the cafeteria. Acknowledging that this is a Supermarket cafe, I was pleasantly pleased with the choices of food available, staff were pleasant and knowledgeable, the typically English Cod and chips were freshly cooked and of a high standard, excellent food and very reasonably priced, enjoyed and will return.
J. P.
Not enough disabled parking spaces for such a big store. Also cars observed not displaying blue badges. When parking in tight normal spaces cannot open door wide enough for disabled to get into car. Bursledon Towers.
h.
Its allright its not anything special but something that us better than the rest is eye testing. In some places ur cost upto 30 pounds fir an eye test vut not here there quite cheap i will tell you the price but i forgot.
The staff are extremily freindly
The cafe is allright but the so called chef isnt the best the egg tastes like plastic not nice bacon has more fat than meat and i have a fealing that the food is left overs from stuff theh never sold
B. P.
I thought the competitor's big store at Chandlers Ford was big but at Bursledon there is Tesco Bursledon Towers is something else it's much Larger and has more in it and as was said by another shopper earlier the upstairs electrical dept and household there is so much to chose from, there are TV's the whole length of a wall from little 19" to over 60" and white household furniture microwaves, camera's pads and mobiles and so much more. Well after over a good hour of being upstairs I got downstairs and into trouble as the wife had been looking for me as she had completed all the grocery shopping, She had a look up there the following week and she was amazed as well, so all in all Tesco's at Bursledon Towers is where we will shop in future. Oh and the Tesco staff where all great as well.
Y. P.
Your average Tesco, half empty on Friday afternoon, quite pricey nowdays, not many discounts around.Sourdough bread is different to the one I have bought from Tesco Hook - I prefer one from Hook.
Polite girl on check out and very atractive girl supervising self-checkouts (afternoon shift on 15 Sept).
G. W.
Great store but a little busy at times as you can imagine for a supermarket. Always moving stock so it's a bit hard to find things on certain occasions.
L. B.
Very good
J. V.
Good overall selection. The fresh produce and fruit was very short dated. Basically next day or day after. Staff was ok, not always the most helpful.
F. P.
I would like to send a big thank you to all the staff at Tesco's for the help today, I work at a care home and we had run out of bread but I was able to get some for the home so all are very happy
Thank you for all your hard work.
A. C.
Traffic light system for entry, wide aisles pleasant staff
a. b.
Got served today by the loveliest lad I've met in my life! The cashier Billy Randall made me feel so warm and welcome and I would definitely recommend and return!
H. W.
I did change and go to Lidl for 3 months but the quality is not the same.At Tesco everything is so fresh
and can be relied upon especially the fruit and vegetables.which are the best also at the checkouts
they are so well trained to help and very polite I hardly ever have to wait and they will pack my bag if
.needed.
D. S.
I would like to thank Simon at Bursledon Towers for his prompt handling of the return of my car keys that had been found by a member of the public out jogging and handed in to the store. It just goes to show that the key tags for Tesco points have more than one use. Simon took charge of my keys and had them delivered to my home within 24 hours saving me having to contact my insurance company and starting new lock proceeding which would have cost. Thank you Simon for your prompt response and thank you to the gentleman jogger for taking my keys into Tesco
A. D.
Quite a high spec Tesco, has pretty much everything you need. Maybe due to the size sometimes the staff aren't as knowledgeable as you'd want, especially up with the electronics and games sections.
A. A.
Large store, provides devices where you scan as you shop so no need to unpack your stuff at the cashier. Just scan the barcode where you get the device from & pay and that's it. 👍
J. F.
Fuel 24h and close to the M27, with plenty of pumps available.
J. M.
Good size store where you can get most things you require from toasters to teabags. Big carpark. Friendly staff. Well laid out.
J. T.

Very very thankful to Tony the trolly guy I was rushing to Tescos in the snow with my pram and didn't realise my money fell out of my pocket but Tony walked around the shop until he found me which was very kind as some people wouldn't be so honest
Very lovely man
M. S.
Toilets smelled a bit funny. Otherwise great store.
a. g.
Massive Tesco store that sells clothing has pharmacy and cafe. Plenty of toilets. Lifts and travelator. Good selection of products.
J. B.
The car park is in an appalling state, it desperately needs someone to clear the litter as its looks unhygienic and unwelcoming
K.
Great place care for there customers and keep everything clean and sanitised.
C. M.
Although very large it didn’t do it for me. Quite a walk from the car and had to use a token for a trolley.
F. W.

S. T.
Tesco is the best for all round decent food at reasonable prices.
G. P.
Good for all grocery etc but can be pricey, compared with Lidl and Aldi !!
K. S.
Extremely busy & little control of amount of people entering.
A. S.
I often come here for lunch, and the meal deal offers are often not included or incorrectly labelled, which has resulted in embarrassing item swaps at the till!
