Just completed a fabulous two day beginners course with Jen. As a complete beginner, the small group sessions were perfect for me. The course was well pitched but appropriately challenging. Jen covered such a lot with us and I was delighted with my three finished products; a tote bag, iPad cover and a make up bag. Will definitely be signing up for more classes and I’d highly recommend Artisan Stitch!

My daughter and I enjoyed the introductory day and came away feeling confident in our new found skills and use a sewing machine properly. We both felt very proud of what we made in the class. Enjoyable day with no pressure and Jen was very happy to share her considerable knowledge. Thanks Jen!

The Cushion-making workshop was a great experience and Jen explained everything in a calm, relaxed manner, working with everyone as an individual, taking account of individual requirements. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Having sewn many years ago on a treadle machine I decided to buy myself a nice new electric sewing machine.
I played with the various stitches and tensions that the machine offered but was getting a bit lost. The Artisan Stitch class was just what I needed. Jen covered in her class the various machine settings, how the machine could be changed to suit the type of stitch required etc. How to sew in a straight line! I had some experience but came away after each session with new skills and most importantly more confidence. We made three items , all of which were great choices to practice the skills taught to us. I have gone on to make 4 further tote bags for family and friends and they have been so impressed. I would definitely recommend this beginners class and Jen as your teacher..I am now looking to do a dressmaking class and am sure it will just as good!

I first attended the beginners sewing class. The last time I had used a machine was when I was at school and I am now retired. Jen teaching was clear and she supported the group. By the end of the day I was using the machine confidently and created a tote bag. (mine is the middle one).
I then booked the free motion embroidery class later in the year. jen contacted me, as she had a space available later in the week. I attended that class, and again her teaching method is brilliant. Taking the process in steps. By the end of the day I had created a garden scene, of which I am very proud.

I became interested in sewing during lockdown and after a few home made projects, learning from online tutorials, wanted something in-person to develop my skills and understand my mistakes. I found the three day intensive beginner course brilliant. Focused, productive and Jen was very supportive and encouraging. I’m really proud of the things I made, and found each day interesting and absorbing. The other women in my group were lovely too. Would highly recommend- I’ve now signed up to a dressmaking course. Thanks Jen!

Jen's curtain making course was absolutely fantastic! Such a supportive atmosphere and it was great to connect with other like minded creatives. Would definitely recommend.

Just been to a beginners course at Artisan Stitch I have had a sewing machine for quite a few years and never really used it properly so Jen was quite happy for me to take along my own machine. Small class which was good felt I needed help quite a lot but was not a problem. Would really recommend any of the classes very talented lady. Really enjoyed it.

I had absolutely no experience behind a sewing machine before this beginner’s course and came out of the course having made three items that I was very proud of. I thoroughly enjoyed learning from Jen and I was amazed how much she managed to teach me in just 6 weeks. I highly recommend this course and I am now completely hooked on the idea of sewing. Thanks Jen.

Having never touched a sewing machine before joining the beginners class, I have now got the sewing bug! Jen is incredibly patient and has a great way of teaching so a total novice can learn and accomplish in every lesson. Highly recommended - thanks Jen!

I recently bought an overlocker and was looking for a sewing class or workshop specifically on how to use an overlocker. Most sewing classes are aimed at beginners or for regular sewing machines, so I was pleased to find Jen's "Know your overlocker" course which was exactly was I was looking for, over a one-day workshop.
I liked that the class was friendly and relaxed (with tea and biscuits of course!) with a small group, but still technical and very hands-on. We went through a lot of different techniques, from the basics to more advanced functionalities like embellishments for fine fabrics. After the workshop, Jen also forwarded a PDF of notes summing up the different techniques we'd learnt, as well as a reference book recommendation. You also bring your own overlocker to the class, so you are learning everything on your own machine which makes it easier than working on a different model.
If you're keen to sew with an overlocker, but still a bit scared of it, I would definitely recommend the class!

I was feeling a bit rough thus not feeling very creative when I got to the workshop. I left at the end of the day feeling inspired, chuffed with what I had achieved and keen to do more of this inspiring monoprint work. Jen is lovely and helpful and very approachable. I will definitely be doing other workshops with Jen.

Great workshop. Jen taught us so much in the 3 hours, she explained everything so clearly I didn't feel I was getting too much information. I feel a lot more confident in what I can use my overlocker locker for and how to adjust settings if it's not stitching how I want it to. I would recommend this workshop to anyone new to using an overlocker. I will be looking to book some of Jen's other workshops as I enjoyed the relaxed environment and small number of attendees.

Highly recommend Jen's textile art workshops and beginners/ improvers classes. Small group size means individual attention as needed. Pace and focus for the workshop adapted to suit group skills, experience and interests. Jen really knows her stuff - and is a skilled, patient, calm teacher for someone like me who isn't quite so skilled!

Great beginners course. Friendly, relaxed environment and I now feel that I have the skills to attempt basic sewing projects on my own. Looking forward to signing up for some more of Jen’s workshops/ courses.

Jen provides a very interesting, very enjoyable learning experience with follow up emails and instructions for some classes which takes away the fear of practising at home. Small classes means you’re never sitting wondering about much for long! Great classes and I will be back.

Thanks to Jen finally I can fulfill my dreams about sewing! I had no idea about using sewing machine before, now with confidence I can start making my own projects! I will recommend this course to anyone who is afraid to use sewing machine :)

I had a one on one lesson with Jen, learning to make cushions with piping and zippers. She was extremely helpful and very informative and I'm confident I can now go on to improve my new skills. I highly recommend taking courses through the Artisan Stitch.

Had a good day learning some basic monoprinting techniques. Good venue for a small group which also meant time for plenty of feedback and support from the tutor. Really enjoyed seeing other people's work as well as taking away some ideas for how to progress.

I highly recommend Artisan Stitch! The classes are fun and very small! After a couple of classes, I felt confident in using the sewing machine independently even though I had absolutely no previous knowledge!

Friendly teacher and interesting class. There were four of us in the class which was terrific as was small enough to get individual attention. The pdfs after the class remind you of everything taught is also super useful.

Had a wonderful time crafting on the Rags to Riches workshop today. Would thoroughly recommend it.
