J. F.Having wandered around central London trying to find a new dinner jacket, I eventually went into E&R. I should have just started there. Excellent quality, fairly priced and attentive service.
As a side note, my wife is American and adored the shop itself. Precisely the experience she thinks all British tailoring should be.

D. L.My husband had bought lots of items from the store in the past but I'd never managed to find anything in my size for suits as they only started at 38R for suits/jackets, I'm a 38S. But out of interest I did give a 38R a try and it was only slightly long on the sleeve/body and a few alterations later allowed the suit to fit perfectly. I shall have to see what's available when next I visit as it's quite an elegant store and staff are also quite charming too.
J. H.Ede and Ravenscroft are famous for legal and academic dress, but they also do more general purpose tailoring - and this is the focus of their Savile Row store. The shop is much larger than it seems from the outside, and has a fair sized ready to wear section as well as offering bespoke services.
I just bought an off the peg "weekend jacket" here in a cloth which was pleasingly not-quite-tweed to the extent that you could just about get away with wearing it in town. It needed some slight alteration to the waist size which was done promptly (in less than a week) and was reasonably priced (£30). The staff I dealt with were helpful without being pushy, and offered sound advice on fit and colour.
A. B.E&R offers handsome tailoring at even more attractive prices. The service is attentive without being suffocating; the advice is consistently honest and insightful. I cannot fault it.
