The classes: I have started the classes about a year ago now and I have assisted to 20+ classes so far. I can honestly say that from the first class I really improved my sewing skills. I picked up quickly on my mistakes while sewing at home, and gain a better understanding of pattermaking. I'm proud to say that now i can make patterns for trousers that fit perfectly! The teacher: I have attended sewing and pattermaking classes at central saint martin and morley college in the past. I can honestly say that Joe Allen is the best teacher I have ever had. He gives his time and attention to all students equally, always very patient and adapts his teaching according to the unique way the student can understand. I can only recommend attending his classes if improving or just starting sewing is someting you are dreaming of. I

I’ve taken tailoring courses with Joe for over a year now, and could not be happier. If you are interested in learning how to make your own clothes and make custom-fit patterns, take a course here when corona ends. You won’t regret it! Anything I can imagine to make, Joe can help me make it happen. He has never once said, “that’s impossible”. I cannot emphasise enough how good the courses are!!!! Before finding Joe, I had been taking short tailoring and design courses through UAL at central St. Martins, and while those were good courses, the overall experience pales in comparison to the small group sizes and individual attention at Joe’s- and at a way better price than UAL. Joe has such an amazing knowledge base (he comes from many generations of tailors), and is also a nice and warm person. I appreciate that he takes the time every week to teach others some of his skills. I have learned so much and can’t say enough how great the courses are. I feel lucky to have found it!

Joe did such an amazing job altering a bridesmaid dress for me. I'd taken it to another tailor who practically ruined the dress. When I took it to Joe in a bit of a panic he was so lovely and managed to undo all the work and redo it to an incredible standard. And all in 24 hours! Such a brilliant, friendly service.

Joe is a lifesaver. My fiance's wedding dress, which should have been made to measure, was two sizes too big and looked like it came straight off the rack. After two other seamstress's said there was nothing that could be done to have it look as it was designed and panic started to set in, the boutique finally called Joe Allen who identified everything that needed fixing and said he could have it done within the week. True to his word, he deconstructed and rebuilt the entire dress and it came out looking fantastic and right on time. My fiance could not be happier with the result. Next time we will start with Joe first for all our tailoring needs.

Mr Allen was extremely gracious and took the time to explain to me why he wasn't interested in what I was discussing. But he did say I should come down and get fitted for a suit, had a laugh and was very kind.
