I struggled to find a suitable outfit for my wedding and came across Orhan's website, which had very positive reviews. I was hesitant at first, because it seemed like a lot of money to spend, but my then future wife convinced me it would be better to have something made that would fit perfectly. The alterations team here fixed my wedding dress a week before my wedding after it was disastrously shrunk by a dry cleaner! No idea how they did it - I was convinced I would need to buy a new dress. Since that have revisited for a few bridesmaid dress alterations and they are always perfect. I would never go anywhere else and recommend them all the time.

I found Orhan tailors by googling 'good east london tailors' and boy, did they not disappoint! They were friendly from the very beginning and made the whole process of hemming my bridesmaids dress smooth and easy. The turn around was quick and the pricing was reasonable. One picture has how long the dress was pre-hem and the other is the final result :) It sat beautifully right by my feet and I hardly stepped on it at all (just at those tricky things called stairs). All of the staff were very personable and I definitely have plans to make this my new go-to tailor!

I had been looking for a tailoring company to make a very special pair of trousers for an event in Japan. The design I had in mind was based on an anime character and was highly complicated. I had been in touch with quite a lot of companies and I was getting frustrated with just four months to go and no one to make them. It was really important for me to have a tailoring team who was cool, creative, enthusiastic about the design and diverse. It was a lot to ask for, but I knew there was a team out there who could do it. I’ve never been into feminine attire and I always look for LGBT friendly places but had initially forgotten to try Googling that, so that’s what my fiancé Barney did. This is how we found Orhan and his amazing team. After the first meeting I knew right away that they could do exactly what I want and that it was worth the investment. Joe even knew the anime character who the design was based on. It’s quite niche and so I took that as a sign that it was meant to be. Everything was super easy on our part, they were so organised and three visits later, I had a pair of trousers that were a perfect balance of androgyny, beautiful tailoring and sophistication. I was telling Orhan on the final visit how great it is that he accommodates for the LGBT community especially the L part, they are so professional, and I know I will feel very special when I go to Japan in April. Thank you to all of you for making this such an enjoyable experience for us. If there was a sixth star you’d get it!

Visited a little while back to get a linen suit altered ahead of a wedding. The team there were very friendly and professional. The initial consultation session was very speedy (but did not feel rushed at all) and they were very accommodating with choosing a collection date and time that suited me. Collection and final fitting were quick and easy as well, and I had the pleasure of meeting Orhan as well. It was a little pricey for the alterations, but the suit turned out perfectly and the service was amazing, so definitely worth it in my opinion! Great service from start to finish. I emailed them a few weeks ago to ask if it'd be possible to do a repair on a quite badly moth eaten coat. I mailed three or four different places and Orhan replied first and with the best service. I dropped the coat in, excellent service in store and a quick turnaround, I was given a precise day and time to collect it. On collecting the coat, I'm extremely impressed with the great job done. Other tailors told me they couldn't do a repair or were dubious, but the job Orhan did was amazing! Independent business for the win 👍

Took an expensive oversized suit here which needed both the legs and arms shortened and taken in, plus the shoulders needed curving to my exact size. Absolutely brilliant work, the suit looks made to measure and the service from the first phone call until collection was exemplary. Orhan is a great find right in Old Street - I had a cocktail dress taken in for a wedding and the quality was exceptional. They are a bit more expensive than others, but the quality shows. fantastic tailoring, superb service, will not go anywhere else from now on. tailoring was on 2 items. First was on a too-small vintage dress with high maintenance material. They were able to creatively problem solve different options for me to be able to fit into it and that were within my budget. They went above and beyond in the agreement of service, adding an extra detail closure that pulls it all together into a truly magical item. The dress now fits geniusly and as a garment is significantly better than its original construction. The second dress had been through 3 butchers of other tailors in 3 other countries (the difference between alterations and tailors /dressmakers**) again we problem solved, they shared different options and price ranges and I couldn't be happier with the result. They rushed the delivery by a day so I could make my event where I will wear them abroad, and patiently gave me advice on another garment I am questing to do on my own even during a busy time. Everyone who works there is incredibly welcoming and friendly and has great energy. Excellent atmosphere, very good pricing, generous service. Bravo!

I loved how friendly everyone was in the store, they made me feel like I had known them forever and I was made to feel very special which is great. I went in a month ago to have my suit measured, still waiting for it to arrive back but I was warned that the process takes time, but that is something to be aware of when you go to get a suit made anyway.. The staff is great and the service friendly and approachable. I went in to get some trousers taken up for my wedding. I asked whether they needed taking in around the leg and was advised that they didn't. It took a week to take up the hem, and when I picked them up I found that while the length was perfect it was very obvious that, now they were shorter, they were too wide on the ankle. This required an emergency visit to a different tailor (because Orhan wasn't open and their week-long turnaround was too long in any event), who took one look at them and said they were obviously too wide, gave compelling advice and made the well-executed alterations within an hour.

Dress was nipped and tucked in all the right places - perfect on first go, which was impressive considering it's a skin tight dress. The seamstress (Natalia, I think is her name) is amazing, she listened to everything I said I wanted, was really complimentary about the dress and material, and not least, got it fitting beautifully. Clearly the outfits were handled very well and the work on them is flawless - important to me as this is the most expensive dress I'll ever wear! Can’t recommend Orhan highly enough. I had to get a linen suit almost totally restructured in under a week and they were beyond accommodating. As a queer womxn, I also have to recommend the team here for their understanding and skill. It’s very unusual to find a tailor who will enthusiastically take a “men’s” suit and fit it to a more tomboi shape with no pushback. I can certify that Orhan and his team will make you feel affirmed, stylish, understood and dapper to boot. 10/10!

I had a floor length silk dress that was far too long on my 5 ft 4 frame, and I had never got round to taking it to be tailored. Finally a wedding came round for which it was ideal and Orhan sounded like they would be just the people for the task. The team there were so helpful, professional and really know their stuff. Not only did they take the dress up to be the perfect length, but they also gave really helpful advice on how to take care of the silk and how to get the creases out of it post-travel. I've used Orhan Tailoring three times now and been impressed each time - excellent customer service, reasonable prices for what you get (which is damn good) and real competence for the job. I had a suit tailored abroad at the beginning of the year and immediately lost a lot of weight thereby requiring some extensive alterations. Obviously having invested a lot in the suit I was nervous about having further work done. Happily I can report that the needle work on the alteration is impeccable and the very reasonable price belies the quality of the work. I'm very happy. You wouldn't be able to tell that the jacket had been touched, it hangs perfectly. Of course, taking 2" off the waist of the trousers has effected the belt line but that is unavoidable. Altogether a great job, I highly recommend Orhan. The service here is very friendly and competent, the 5* review is well deserved!

While they completed the alteration in about a week and it for better, there were still areas that could have been taken in more. If I had time for an additional alteration, they probably would have done it, but I only had 1 day spare!

A very good East London dry cleaner recommended that I take a repair for a vintage silk dress here. It is a very high end bespoke tailors but they are incredibly friendly, welcoming, warm, nice and, more importantly, normal and unpretentious. I have visited, and argued, with most of North London's tailors and it is rare that the front of house person is a friendly and charming six foot plus young man, Joe, and he has none of the East London hipster bad attitude/too cool for you vibe. It is also rare not to be body-shamed or lectured when discussing a repair; Orhan’s is thoroughly professional and, unlike a lot of male dominated tailors, do not treat women in an obectified or lascivious way, which is very rare. Their prices can be expensive £60 for removing a tier from a vintage layered silk dress but unlike other tailors they go into great detail explaining the repair's process and procedure. They repaired a vintage black velvet Laura Ashley skirt and a pair of Acme trousers that had split along a seam. Each repair was £13 but I was absolutely astounded by the high quality of the repairs: both were invisible repairs, where the alignment of the stitching for the repair with the orginal fabric was flawless, perfect and seamless. I was utterly floored. My mother is a seamstress and both my grandfathers were tailors, so I am used to high-quality sewing, but I never expected my gnarled and ripped skirt to be returned in such pristine, perfect and flawless condition. I would highly recommend them for repairs, although their prices are at the higher end, the quality of their work is impeccable, and the service is empowering and never condescending or rude. I have been using Orhan Tailoring for several years and have never been disappointed. I struggle to find clothing off the rack which meets my expectations for quality and fit, and Orhan has been a godsend in this regard. I have grown disenchanted with the direction the fashion industry has taken, and find that even the luxury brands are manufacturing poorly constructed, disposable pieces. When I first met Orhan and his lovely wife Denise, it was like I had finally met people who spoke my sartorial language. I am someone who knows clothing and how it should look and feel, and these guys were so patient and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that the garments were exactly as I had envisioned. I have had two jackets, two skirts, and four shirts made by Orhan, and look forward to having many more beautiful pieces created by him in the future. These items are so unique yet classic, and impeccably constructed, and you just don't find this kind of quality and craftsmanship at Harrods or on Sloane Street, but what makes these guys so special is that the whole experience is relaxed and personal, and they are genuinely passionate about making sure their clients look amazing. I'm a very happy repeat customer.

I first heard about Orhan through the long gone, but dearly missed Daily Candy and contacted him about copying a beloved coat. Orhan is a master at his craft, an artist really. The process was a great deal of fun, finding the fabric, all the fittings and creating improvements to the original. There wasn't quite enough material and he sorted it out. In the end, the coat...an ankle length, elegant hooded one in beautiful grey alpaca with black leather trim, floats out as you walk and is a joy to wear. It is a masterpiece of tailoring. People stop me on the street and ask me about it all the time. It resides in Paris now and this year it was 10 years old so back to London it went where Orhan remade the lining and spruced it up. It can now live on for another 10 years of compliments! Orhan has remade my entire wardrobe since that first experience. Try him, you will not regret it! - Debbi Baron

Went in with wanting a suit completely different to one I had tailored elsewhere. There were plenty of fabrics to chose from and I was really struggling to narrow the selection down. In came Denise and instantly suggested THE perfect fabric, armed with this Joe helped me work my way through the design and ending with measurments being taken by Orhan. I have to say all 3 made me relaxed and comfortable and offered so many suggestions. Come the big day with fitting i saw the suit hanging up and it truely looked beautiful. A try on confirmed it to be a really strikingly beautiful suit that fit perfectly (no other adjustments were needed it really was a perfect fit and really created a fantastic line). I had a favourite black winter coat: the style was superb, but the colour was dark and dull and the fabric wasn't the best ever. So I wondered - maybe I can find myself a tailor to make a copy of it in a top-notch quality fabric and even add one or two additional features of my own. With the idea born, I put the job 'out to tender'. The replies were mixed: two suggested I would need to buy the fabric elsewhere then come back to them and they would make it, which sounded hugely troublesome and off-putting. In contrast, Orhan Tailors took the trouble to phone me and say how they could do everything and explained each detail of the process. This convinced me they were the people for the job. So, armed with my coat, I attended an initial appointment and was immediately impressed by their efficiency and helpfulness. From a large range of coating fabric swatches I chose a heavyweight mid-grey herringbone pattern and went away to await my first fitting, which was to be in a prototype 'calico' model. Subsequent fittings proved to be a pleasant and stress-free experience; in fact I began to quite look forward to my trips to Shoreditch! Even when I got the finished garment home and decided I wanted bigger buttons and that one of the hems was not quite straight they could not have been more obliging, carrying out the necessary alterations without delay. I am very pleased with the finished article which is even better than I had hoped. And that additional feature? A zipped breast pocket, which they made to look unobtrusive and stylish. I have since been back to have a new lining placed in my wife's coat, which was carried out with similar attention to detail - they even put the 'Basler' label back in. In conclusion, I am delighted with the service I have received and can thoroughly recommend Orhan Tailors as the 'One-Stop-Shop' for bespoke tailoring requirements.
