Absolutely wonderful experience. I had never had anything pierced before and all the staff were so warm and lovely and talked me through everything really well. I felt compeltely safe and in great hands. My ears have never looked better (and it didn't hurt anywhere near as much as I thought - if you're like me and have been thinking about it just go do it and make your own happy!)

Very pleased with my first visit to Holier Than Thou. Went in to get my second lobes pierced. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. I suffer with anxiety and I felt a bit overwhelmed by the vast of choice of jewellery. I was so pleased when the receptionist helped me to choose something simple and didn't pressure me into buying anything expensive. Kitty pierced my ears. She was lovely and made the whole process stress free. She even re-pierced my labret for me in the same appointment which I had only casually mentioned I was thinking about getting redone at a later time. Will be going back for sure to get more piercings. Definitely recommend. :)

Absolutely loved my experience here, I was recommended this shop by a piercer in Belgium and am really glad I went to them. Everyone was so helpful and absolutely lovely. I was pierced by Kitty and she really reassured me throughout, I had my tragus, conch and rook pierced and I had told Kitty I was a bit scared about the tragus piercing so she talked me all the way through it and really put me at ease. And they have such a big range of jewellery to choose from, I was in awe when I walked in!

I LOVE this place! I've had a navel, nipple and Christina piercing completed here and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are so professional, friendly and talented. I had my first visit to Holier Than Thou yesterday. I was slightly nervous but immediately set at ease by all the LOVELY staff there. Everyone there was so so friendly, helpful and reassuring, also so patient with a magpie like me that can’t make up their mind! There’s a stunning selection of jewellery to choose from and the staff gave excellent guidance on which jewellery would suit which piercing. The piercing itself was really quick, thoroughly explained and perfectly placed; I was given plenty of opportunity to check the placement and make sure I was happy with everything. Aftercare was thoroughly explained and I felt really reassured when leaving knowing that no problem was too small in terms of contacting them in the future. I visited in March to have an old lobe piercing redone, and the staff were fantastic throughout - from signing in and picking out jewelry to the piercing itself. Now that's healed, I visited again yesterday to have hinged rings fitted in both ears as orbitals. Again, I can't praise the staff enough.

All the staff are absolutely lovely, there's a wonderful selection of jewelry, and if you have any worries or social concerns, this is hands down the best place for you to be. Also a big thanks to everyone who helped me when I nearly fainted! Nobody's fault of course, but they couldn't have handled the situation better. Great experience, warm, welcoming and competent staff. My piercer was lovely he was very calming and talked me through the entire process beforehand. The procedure was over quickly and as painless as a piercing of my size (6mm) can be. The speed and precision it was done just further proves the expertise and experience of the staff. Been here twice for piercings and the staff are amazing. They're happy to help and answer any questions you have - I had a lot the first time I went as I hadn't had a cartilage piercing done before. They explained aftercare procedures thoroughly in person and via email afterwards, were very reassuring during the process, and there was a high standard of hygiene throughout. And they're happy to give advice during the healing process - was even told they'd rather I go in every week asking if a piercing looks like it's healing well rather than worry about it. I was very impressed by the level of quality and customer service with my first visit yesterday. I emailed about getting a birthday piercing and heard back almost immediately. I came here for multiple ear piercings and didn't know for definite what I wanted until I actually got there and had a good chat to the lovely (and very knowledgeable and friendly) staff at the till area. They have such a huge variety of jewellery (I had a hard time choosing) and all of the pieces are gorgeous. I eventually decided on a conch, helix and flat piercing which were performed by Kitty. I was so nervous but she was brilliant and really put me at ease. I love my new piercings! Cannot fault these guys. I was getting a piercing. Totally professional from start to finish . Completed the health questionnaire. The guy doing the piercing stepped through what he was going to do and asked if i had any questions. Really happy with my experience. I went in for a nose piercing and was incredibly nervous (like really really nervous), especially since covid rules mean you need to go in alone. As soon as I got there I was put at ease as everyone was lovely, the guy (sorry I didn’t get a name) who pierced me was able to calm my nerves immediately. He talked me through the entire process and spent a long time with me ensuring the placement was right before piercing. It was a weekend and the studio was incredibly busy, with lots of people in and out the door but I never felt rushed which I really appreciated. He also took a lot of time to explain the aftercare process with me and just over a week on the piercing looks to be healing really well. I’ve been pierced here twice now by Kitty and Sage. My experiences couldn’t have been better. Both were so kind when I was quite nervous. Standards are so high here, great selection of jewelry. Good service with friendly and welcoming staff, a clean environment. However, they have on more than one occasion changed piercings and used the wrong size jewelry (too small) causing my piercing to become swollen, irritated and painful to the point where I've had to let some heal up or go back to get the jewelry changed.

Highly recommend this place. Made an appointment, thankfully, and showed up early. There were 3 people who came in without an appointment & wanted tattoos and piercings. They couldn't accommodate them because they were quite busy. Staff was all very friendly and down to earth. I went for a septum piercing. They showed me all jewelry options & explained everything to me in a crystal clear fashion. The piercing itself was easy and practically painless. Not sure why I put it off for 21 years 😂 The piercer (is that what they're called?) was professional, friendly & personable. I liked him a lot, which speaks volumes because I only had 4 mins and 23 seconds with him. Parking was a breeze, albeit a little expensive at £3 for 1 hour. In all I was only there for 20 mins for paperwork, jewelry shopping & piercing. Definitely book in!

I visited Holier Than Thou again in July to get underway with some new piercings I was excited to add to my collection, and found that since I was last there several years earlier they had moved sites. I had always known Holier Than Thou as a studio with a remarkable selection of jewellery, so I was blown away by how this had expanded to such an extent to fill their bigger space. The studio really is such a magical place to be around so much beautiful jewellery with an extremely extensive variety of options to suit anybody’s budget and taste and people with infectious enthusiasm to talk to about it. Jenny the high end jewellery manager and apprentice piercer was very excited to show me loads of the pieces that caught my eye up close. She listened closely to the kinds of things I like and used her impressive knowledge of all the jewellery available both in the studio and through the manufacturers to suggest pieces that would be my style and make for a totally cohesive curation that fit my anatomy to a tee. This really helped me to pick out the perfect jewellery for me and to decide which new piercings I wanted to add to show it all off. Since then I have visited the studio many times to discuss new piercing ideas to make sure they are suitable for my anatomy, order custom jewellery from premium manufacturers, have piercings performed, and get aftercare advice and jewellery changes throughout the healing. Without fail I have been warmly welcomed into the studio, and have also been lucky enough to have interacted with all of the piercers now at one point or another, and I can honestly say whoever you see you will be in safe hands both for piercing procedures and for picking out the right pieces for you. Marcus in particular deserves a huge shout out; he performed my vertical industrial piercing in July that has been a very tricky healer, but he has been super patient with me throughout the initial swelling that was causing me problems. His reassurance the several times I popped in to have it quickly checked has been brilliant, and not only has he always known when to intervene or simply leave it alone, but also changed the barbell several times to get it just right for that stage of the healing. I am currently in the middle of my curation journey while I wait for some custom pieces to be made and for my newer piercings to be healed enough to add new ones, but have been scheduling appointments for piercings in advance so they are healing up nicely for when my jewellery arrives. I recently had an apprentice piercing appointment with Jenny who performed my newest triple forward helix, and can honestly say she is an excellent professional piercer. She helped me pick out the perfect jewellery for this position based on a few of my ideas, worked closely with her mentor Helen to ensure that the placement of the piercings were just right to really show them off and fit my ear, and explained every single step of what she was doing so that every sound and sensation I felt during the piercing was expected and that I was calm and reassured. My starter bars are long in case I have another bad time with swelling, but the piercing has been totally pain free since I left the studio and am hoping they will be ready for their downsize in a few weeks. I can’t wait to get back to the studio and am really looking forward to seeing what my new gorgeous jewellery looks like in its fully healed form, and getting my custom pieces as they arrive. I would wholeheartedly recommend Holier Than Thou to anybody looking for a new piercing or to update their current set up. Whether you have never been pierced before or are going in for your twentieth, they are the best at helping you realise your vision and their expert help and advice and wide range of jewellery will mean you leave really happy with your new piercing and the overall experience of getting it, whatever you choose.

It's the first time I have visited holier than thou and from the get-go, they were so professional and nice. The lady at reception whose name I didn’t catch, unfortunately (she had copper hair) was so lovely and helpful with filling in my form, helping me pick my jewellery and customising my appointment specifically for me. I went to get my conch and flat pierced. I mentioned my anxiety and requested a female piercer (I’m a Muslim who wears the headscarf) and the lady at the reception already requested a female piercer prior to me making the request. The place was squeaky clean, there were covid separation stickers and all staff were masked up and anyone entering was asked to mask. For my actual appointment, I had Kitty pierce my ears. She made the entire appointment so comfortable for me, made me feel relaxed went at the pace I was comfortable with and clearly explained each step so I was well informed. It felt like a collaboration rather than just getting pierced and sent on my way. We had a laugh as well. I had an embedded piercing in a private area which was painful so i went down to holier and saw Marcus, I did initially prefer some one who was assigned female at birth but I just really needed this sorting so I could not wait until a different day when a female was availiable. I just want to say that Marcus was so lovely, he did not make me feel awkward in any sort of way and really tried everything he could, unfortunately I could not deal with the pain and he told me to come back when the swelling goes down a bit as that would help a lot. I went back 2 days later and saw Kitty, she was super lovely and put me at ease explaining what had happened and what she could do as I was quite scared at this point, my mind had run away with itself. She popped it right out of there with minimal pain, I must say I was actually very impressed as I really thought it would not come out and may be a hospital job. I travelled from Leeds to visit this studio for my septum piercing as I wanted a UKAPP member for my piercings, and the studios in Leeds don't really offer what I look for in a piercing studio. Booked a last minute navel piercing and I couldn't be happier! I was greeted by Marcus who helped me fill in my form and pick my jewellery. I wasn't sure what to go for but he was friendly and knowledgeable, he let me know that because I would likely need to change my bar in a few months, I would be better to stick with something plain and then purchase a fancier piece when the time came to downsize - I was clueless so this really helped me avoid spending lots of money on something that would be obsolete in no time. I've been to HTT a few times with friends who were getting pierced and I already knew I could trust them. I have bad anxiety and ADHD, so was feeling pretty nervous, and it has been 12 years since I'd got a piercing. The piercer (I've forgotten their name, sorry!) asked if I wanted them to talk me through it beforehand and showed me what they were going to be using and how it would work. They checked I was OK to continue at each step and put me at ease so much. If you're not keen on needles or pain, it's a vulnerable position to be in, no matter how much you want the piercing, but they made the experience so manageable and stress free. UPDATE: Changing my review to 4 stars as I have now spoken with HTT and they very kindly sent me new, longer bars, free of charge. They went over and above what was expected of them to be honest, and I am really chuffed with their help. Cheers guys :) The actual piercings I received here are healing very nicely, and pain was minimal. I didn't feel rushed to check the placement of piercings, which I often have felt at other studios. My reasoning for 3 stars instead of 5 is that alongside the piercings I received, I also bought some jewellery to go in healed piercings and replace what was currently in there. The two labrets that were put into my helix piercings seem quite short, and one has popped off and I cannot get it back in again because the post is barely long enough to make it through both sides of my ear. The same goes for the jewellery I got for my lobe piercings - the posts are so short it's impossible for me to put the earrings in or take them out so that's £30 down the drain! I went back the next day after getting pierced (they were very happy to fit me in as the ball had popped off of my new piercing) and asked for them to take out the lobe jewellery as I was unable to do it myself due to the stud being so short, and while I was briefly apologised to, no attempt was made to remedy my issue. Overall I have no problem with the piercings I received, but I would maybe avoid getting jewellery fitted here unless you are very adept at dealing with short bars.

I have yet to go there for a piercing, but I initially booked a consultation regarding my concerns and questions since I'm looking to get into it. I suffer from severe social anxiety and the trip did leave me quite anxious, but everyone there from the receptionist to the piercer I spoke to (Sage) was really nice. The advice they gave me was incredible and helped with my concerns. They definitely know what they're doing and have an incredibly large range of piercings and piercing types. Fantastic piercing studio. I asked a question online before booking my appointment and got a helpful, comprehensive reply very quickly. The front-of-house staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable and were able to advise me on whether my chosen piercing (daith) would be suitable for the shape of my ear. They have a great selection of precious jewellery which they were happy to explain to me, but also didn't try to push me into buying gold when I decided I'd prefer a plain titanium ring. My piercer Sage was absolutely lovely; they were friendly and enthusiastic and they explained everything clearly at every stage of the process so I knew what to expect. Hygiene was exemplary and done in a spotlessly clean tiled room. The piercing itself was done quickly and although daith piercings are inevitably painful, the pain was over in a split second and I literally haven't had any soreness at all since I had the piercing done two days ago. I don't get nervous about piercings but while I was waiting I could hear the staff being super kind and reassuring to other clients, which was great to see. I would also add that Holier Than Thou makes a point of being an accepting and inclusive place for all genders, ages and body types.

Jenny was my piercer who is the shops apprentice, and she took the time to sit with me, talk through my form and she was aware that I have learning disabilities. I have autism, dyspraxia and anxiety so it’s important to help my anxiety that my piercer is aware and happy to pierce. Honestly amazing, I came in with a wonky piercing that was done by claire’s and had been bleeding and getting continuously irritated and swollen because it wasn’t pierced straight. let it heal for a couple weeks and got it re-pierced here + some others. it’s been like 7 weeks now since and they’re completely fine, no more irritation & perfectly placed. staff are very friendly and overall it’s the best piercing place I’ve been to, 10/10 👌🏼

Don't usually post reviews, but felt this deserved one. Went in yesterday to get my septum pierced. They have the biggest jewellery collection I've ever seen at a parlour and really beautiful pieces. Changed my choice of jewellery last minute and that was no problem. I was also glad that there was a strict mask policy. They are clean, professional, and very forthcoming. Kitty checked that the piercing I chose was in the correct size and was extremely efficient. Despite already having other piercings, my anxiety kicked in and it was handled in the nicest and kindest way possible. The piercer Marc was super patient, explained every step of the way, let me take a breather when I needed to and reassured me that I could take my time even though it seemed to be extremely busy. My jewellery was handled with care and most importantly, my septum was pierced straight. Left happy and will return for future piercings.

Absolutely cannot thank everyone at holier and thou enough! I’ve had a few bad experiences at other piercing shops in Manchester so was feeling very nervous and put off having any more piercings to start with. However I braved it out and had my nipple piercings re done at holier than thou yesterday and it was my most comfortable experience! I felt very very welcomed by the team who were helpful and friendly. The person on the reception was absolutely lovely too (not 100% sure of their name). Elise did my piercings for me. They’re so lovely and made me feel so at ease. I also visited last year as I was having lots of issues with my piercings that I had done at another studio (mentioning no names, let’s just say it’s within close proximity to Holier than thou), and Marcus was so helpful!! Not once have I felt uncomfortable with any of the piercers at this studio. Absolutely in love with my new piercings and thankful that I’ve finally found a piercing studio in which I can feel comfortable visiting and reassured that I will get good quality piercings. Edit: 05 Aug 21 Went back to get my industrial piercing ends changed and got another lobe piercing with Kitty. Wonderful place, they are all really lovely and I cannot recommend them enough! Having heard and seen horror stories about industrial piercings, they were patient with me from the start- I asked them loads of questions over the phone which were very patiently answered. They first asked me to come in to get my anatomy checked for the piercing and were completely honest about the placement. They had two piercers check it to make absolutely sure. Two days after the actual piercing, it is healing well without any pain at all. Actually, the pain subsided in a couple of hours! They give me detailed aftercare advice and asked me to not panic in case something goes wrong and to come to them immediately. The place is very clean and sanitised thoroughly in between customers. All sterilised equipment is opened up in front of you so you can be sure. Kitty was calm, reassuring and took good care of a very anxious me. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would not hesitate going there again.

I have been here a couple of times now and felt the need to write a glowing review. I most recently went at the bank holiday weekend and was pierced by Kitty. I was expecting a bit of a wait but I was seen super quickly. I initially went in to get a double tragus piercing but unfortunately I didn't have the correct anatomy, although Kitty did inform me I had space for a double rook instead so I decided to go with that (which I now prefer!) She also told me my old daith piercing was migrating (pierced at another shop) so kindly removed it for me and pierced my daith on my other ear. She was super professional and welcoming and asked if Jenny the apprentice could watch my piercings. Jenny was also lovely and was telling me about her learning experience. Prices are possibly slightly higher than some other places but you definitely get what you pay for! Excellent customer care, jewellery quality, cleanliness and all-round experience! The only place I will ever get pierced! I went here yesterday for yet another one of my piercings! They are always so so extremely polite! All of the staff are so welcoming and friendly! i had both of my nostrils pierced by Kitty and Jenny was watching and learning! I felt really comfortable and they were great moral support seeing as you can’t have friends in with you because of COVID! I was quite early and they weren’t bothered in the slightest they got me in straight away and had time for everyone! Everywhere was super clean and everyone was following the right social distancing and guidelines! I was extremely happy with both my piercings and would absolutely recommend to anyone for any piercings, tattoos or any other body mods! Don't usually post reviews but was blown away by how wonderful everyone at Holier Than Thou was, went for my jewelry change appointment with Sage (who is just so lovely) about 3 weeks ago, I traveled from approx an hour away because I wanted to go somewhere that was listed on UKAPP and there's nowhere by me that is, this place is great! Everyone's very knowledgeable and I've now got a nice good quality titanium piece in my tragus - which I had pierced elsewhere with steel and it just wasn't healing - will definitely be making the trip back here instead for my next few piercings once this has fully healed! Plus it's a nice excuse for a day out in Manchester as well haha!

I am scared of needles and often get a bit sick/faint. I thought a piercer would tell me to just not bother getting pierced. They didn't, they supported me and made me feel welcome and not like I was causing a problem. They knew what to do when I got a little bit faint and I managed to get my piercings safely, and as comfortably as possible. They also made sure I got jewellery I liked within my budget, it was such a personal experience. I will be returning for more and don't want to go anywhere else for my piercing needs!

I went on a Saturday for walk in to get my ears done and was seen to in 15 minutes (it was about 5pm though they are always busy on the weekend) the people there are very welcoming and lovely, once I sat down in the room to get my piercings I noticed how organised and hygienic they all were. My walk in literally took 30 seconds and use needles- no guns thank goodness! Made it less painless and shall definitely go back for my next future piercings! :)

He explained every detail while staying very courteous and professional, and while I was freaking out a bit he made sure to explain every step. The piercing didn’t hurt nearly as bad as I expected and honestly, waiting in line was the longest part of being there. Spot on studio. Hygiene, knowledge and professionalism second to none, had several piercings and some scarification done here, no problems with any of their work. The staff are always friendly and helpful, offering great follow up advise aswell as talking you clearly through each procedure. Holier is the only place I go for piercings now, and they've done most of my tattoos as well. Recently I've had a lot of my jewellery out and went to see if my conch piercing was still open, and if not, if they could re-pierce it. When I arrived the shop was scrupulously clean as always and I was met by the lovely Nicky, who is currently apprenticing as a piercer there. She took a look and confirmed it had closed up, and booked me in. I was given the choice of being pierced by herself or or one of the fully trained piercers: I opted for Nicky. Nicky was supervised by an experienced piercer but did the job perfectly, and was friendly and professional throughout. I've never had any trouble with a piercing from Holier but as usual she nevertheless checked I knew what to do about aftercare, and stressed I should come back if I experienced any problems at all. Holier is also probably your best bet if you've never been pierced before, or never had anything beyond basic lobes: the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable and more than happy to explain anything you're unsure about.

One downside is they are often very very busy - no doubt due to their positive nature in the market. Expect a wait, or I'd recommend booking an appointment. I had to book an appointment because they were so busy (which I think speaks volumes in itself), so had a look around and came back. When I came back, I went through the legal documents and paid up. The short time I was in there he was friendly and chatty. Piercings here are definitely slightly more expensive than elsewhere but I have confidence that they are professional and good quality so it's a no brained to pay the extra few quid (I've never had an issue with a piercing from here but have from elsewhere) It's often busy on a weekend but I was given a time slot 10 minutes after arriving. After lots of research and speaking to different piercers about a genital, triangle piercing ,described as a specialized intense piercing (so you want an experienced piercer to perform this one), most advised me to see Helen at holier than thou, as most wouldn't do it and all advised me Helen was the person to see, and trust in the north of England. I booked an appointment to see Helen, and nearly 2 weeks ago, me and my husband drove 120 mile round trip to see if I could have the piercing, and to be be pierced. Got both nipples done here today after getting tired of my last piercer. Absolutely brilliant, really bright welcoming shop, easy to talk to staff and obviously really clean. The piercing room is fairly small, but private and my boyfriend was able to come in with me which helped a lot. The pricing is reasonable for the service that you get and I will definitely be coming back! What I also liked was how you could walk in without any previous body-mod experience an still feel 'in-place', there's no daunting, crazy body jewellery, or hardcore paintings/pictures to put anyone off. In fact, I'd even recommend this place to parents whose children want ear piercings (much, much, much safer than Claire's!) because it's so professional. The only thing that would've made my experience any better is getting a small sample of saline solution to clean with (but I only expect this because of my previous piercing experiences). Besides that, the only other wobbles were that I didn't get asked for ID (although apparently I do look over 18) and we did have the opportunity to just walk off without paying because the member of staff on the till was busy sorting out jewellery and didn't notice us until we asked to pay. Otherwise, fab!

I was very nervous to have my ear done because it was the first time getting my ear done with a needle and I was getting my daith done too. I am living in South Africa, I had a forward helix piercing done approx 2 months ago. A piercing bump developed. I went back to my original piercer, and 2 others for advise. Went to Holier Than Thou to get my Helix re-pierced. I’d had it done years ago and had let it close up due to not being able to wear the piercing at my job at the time. got my tragus pierced was very nervous, staff were super helpful! piercing went well and aftercare provided was A1! its healing nicely. my ball and bar fell out when i was cleaning the area- rang them up explained and i rushed in they had my bar back in the next hour! definitely getting all my piercings from here! cant wait to get my hands on some jewellery once my piercing has healed!!!

I came here for my first piercings, was a very pleasant experience was in and out of the piercing shop very fast, got my septum and nostril pierced. Couldn't of asked for anything better all the staff were super friendly and happy to answer any questions all very knowledgeable about there jobs. Stunning pieces of jewellery are available from here too I would definitely recommend this to anybody looking to get some piercings as they accommodate for everybody's taste. Holier Than Thou are such a lovely group of people who made me feel so welcome, esp as I am a lot older than the general clientele. I had a very sedate 2nd piercing alongside my 40 year old original ear piercing & it looks gorgeous & exactly what I was hoping for; just a delicate 2nd piercing so I could wear more choice of earrings & everyone took such care & time to listen to my request. It was customer service at its best. There are a huge choice of earrings & I needed 18ct gold but it was no problem at all. It really is less painful than epilating or plucking & the aftercare is perfect. Thank you so much to everyone there - I love the piercing, the earrings are beautiful & I had a ball. ❤️❤️❤️
