Reviews of Charing Cross
D. U. P. E.
The station has a historical interior and exterior, which makes it different than others. Most importantly the train connects different South East areas through this. There are many facilities available, like clean toilets, male, female, baby changing, disabled. There are coffee shops, chocolate shop and small retail shop too. The station is mostly clean. It is moderately busy apart from pick times. The train time display works fine, sometimes update a little late but verbal updates are pretty fantastic and frequent. Enjoy 😊
S. B.
A lot of history in this station, but also in need of some love and repair. Not a great range of shops available (and open) on site. Plenty of trains heading south of the river. Historic (albeit rebuilt) monument out front.
R. T.
Beautiful old London Railway Station. Beautiful architecture. I like the atmosphere of large stations in London. I recommend a tour of the major train stations throughout London.
M.
A nice railway terminus with both regional and local services throughout its 6 platforms. From my experience, platforms 1, 2, 3 and sometimes 5 are for local services while platforms 4 and 6 are for regional services. The station does have a worn-out feel to it, and could do with a small refurb (not the platform clocks though, they are fine). Overall a decent terminus which I always use when heading to London.
D. I.
One of the distinct areas of great marvel of engineering within the sub-terrainial London transport network.
It is always amazes the ingenuity of these projects especially how they compliment, augment, and beautifies the joy of logistics within the City and it's immediate environ!!!
S. B.
Multiple cafes and shops on site. Very historical building. Spacious and we'll lite. Very helpful staff. Very well designed information boards that are easy on the eye and up to date information. Usually a bit crowded but not in a way that is claustrophobic. Excellent transport links in and around station. Buses and well organized taxi service stationed outside entrance. Situated on the strand, easy access to transport and short walks to Trafalgar Square, Charing cross and hype park.
A. L.
One of a number of London railway termini. Pretty clean and airy.
E. T.
Not a bad station. It can be very busy, and very untidy and messy. Toilets are ok. Gates are always opening and staff are always just lounging around doing almost nothing, so people could just walk through the gate with no tickets. Really poor.
A. A.
A very clean station with medium crowd. Thanks for the staff helpful and friendly. Thanks.
M. B.
Very busy, but all staff are helpful with info
All you have to do is be patient and some one will help you regarding train station .
W. H.
Nice big train station. Easy to view train times. Plenty of helpful staff around
A. L.
Looks good on the outside, not so wow on the inside, but they have places to eat and drink, public toilets (you have to pay). The main reason I give it 5 stars is that the trains take you to lots of different locations.
k. m.
Small train station compared to others in London which means it can get busy.
The station is clean and tidy with plenty of ticket machines to buy or pick up pre booked tickets.
Several convince stores are available for refreshments.
E. E.
It is a very busy station with a lot of places to grab quick snacks easily. The environment is bright with a lot of tall buildings to feed your eyes with.
D. G.
Very fast and efficient, first time on there for years, directions was very simple. The main reason I give it 5 stars is that the trains take you to lots of different locations. Great restaurant in the alleyways below the station! Gary working at the gates was really nice and super helpful in showing me cheaper weekly and monthly pricing for your Oyster card. One of the most spacious and efficient stations in London.
M. W.
The station is huge and clean. The staffs are helpful.
s. p.
What i have always liked most about this Station is that when you leave it,you feel you are in the heart of London with Trafalgar Square right there..It,s also just a short walk to Covent Garden
N. P.
Great station with connections to South East London and Kent, including Tonbridge and Dartford. My go-to station! Would definitely recommend.
F. O.
Architectural beauty of this building is more admirable from exterior especially in the evening when fully lighted interior is also very interesting but you have to focus a bit more. Otherwise station is kind of very small and can be super crowded in rush hours.
R. K.
Was there last week. Very beautiful old building leading on to Covent Garden
An amazing place for those wishing to explore
Theatre/Art and Fun at your doorstep
As my gran would say “Charing Cross is a sweet shop for the mind and body, go straight for culture, turn left for the Queen and turn right for debauchery”
M.
So easy to navigate around
S. K. R.
Busy place…love the crowd..

Like most of the street in London we can find great work of illumination.✨

C. N.
Connecting train station. Very busy and cool place with stores and shops
W. G.
Same as most tube stations, efficient and busy. The above ground station was in good shape too
N. B.
Overall a very clean and efficiently run station.
Good access to the underground and local sites of interest in the area.
There is a good range of places to get a drink and food and nothing was overpriced.
It used to be one of London's largest mainline stations but with stations like Waterloo and London Bridge, this has now become quite a cosy station in comparison.
It just loses one star on the rating because the information about train times was a little difficult to find out from the huge electronic boards displaying the platform and times because it was updating so quickly that if you blinked then you could easily miss a train departure.
O. K.
As stations go it is pretty good. There are plenty of info boards to look at departures and the ticket collection machines are close to the gates, unlike london Bridge. The staff are helpful and friendly and there are plenty of shops around to buy food etc.
The underground attached does have the most consistent homeless community out of all stations. It thereband smells worse for wear, but that's London.
T. S.
You can get your train quick meaning the boards are good. They flattened it by removing shops from the middle and demolished the toilets under them. The new toilets not good for disability . Staff not well trained for this.
Good range of shops but not a patch on Waterloo.
New waiting room is good now they turned down the announcement volume.
L. V. H.
Here you come out on Trafalgar square and when you walk towards Westminster near the Parlement square you can watch the change of the guardsmen
C. N.
Connecting train station. Very busy and cool place with stores and shops
E. N.
Not my favourite London rail terminus. At times access to the Underground can be restricted, and although the pebble stone forecourt is pretty and convenient for taxis, the subterranean interior - especially if you leave the station from the tube stop - nearly always reeks of urine, and at times is peopled by vagrants. An ugly station to be honest and not as many eating and shopping options as Kings Cross.
R. H.
Easy access to any public transport, shops however, as a worker myself that starts at 7:00 by the time I arrived from kidbrooke to charing Cross, toilets are still closed and some trains with yellow doors don't have toilets. It's so uncomfortable to walk all way to work . Then there is no day at rush hours after 3pm that, there's no delays or cancellation. Needs to be more organised.
A. S.
Big and clean station considering the location. Lots of shops and fast food restaurants near-by. However when trains are delayed it's really challenging to get over the crowd of people stairing at the timetables like zombies.
A.
Fair amount of places to eat or drink in the station itself while you are waiting for a train. Timetables are on giant screens just above the platforms so you can't really miss it. Does get busy during rush hour, but that can't really be helped.
J.
not a bad station at all, very clean, staff seem helpful, no compaints really.
P. S.
It is ok apart from the fact that you have to get out of the platforms area if you need to change from 5/6 to 1/4 platfmors
A. S.
Historic and arcane - which makes it a wee bit impractical if you are new to the station and are in a hurry to get that train home. The architecture is wonderful if you have the time to stop and gaze though - the Eleanor cross is right in front. The surroundings of the station themselves leave a lot to be desired. Note: There's an elevated walkway that takes you all the way to the Golden Jubilee bridge(s).
A. E. B.
I would like to say thanks for all the friendly staff, especially Mr. Jimmy who spared no effort to contact me on facebook about my bank card that I lost at the station
Thanks
Merci

The station is quite small compared to amount of people who use the station. One thing that I wish for is a food shop that sell gluten free option food there. There isn't much gluten free choices there (None).
C.
One of the most spacious and efficient stations in London.
G. T.
The location of station is in a good spot of London you have access to bakerloo line, northern line. The shops are okay mostly food places. They could with more seating areas and variety in shops i.e. Clothes. Very good access to tourist areas such as Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square.
G. M.
I love it, I love the architecture and its well linked with Central London, location is big advantage for this station ,Charing Cross railway station (also known as London Charing Cross) is a central London railway terminus between the Strandand Hungerford Bridge in the City of Westminster. It is the terminus of the South Eastern main line to Dover via Ashford. All trains are operated by Southeastern, which provides the majority of commuter and regional services to south-east London and Kent. It is connected to Charing Cross Underground station and is near to Embankment Underground station and Embankment Pier.
K. G.
Either take the underground for northern line or bakerloo line from here. Or take the overground southeastern train all start from here. Not a big station though. Get plenty of food joints like mc Donald’s, M&S food, WS Smith and some coffee shops. and yes there are also some homeless people on the station most of the time. But they are harmless.
O. H.
Gary working at the gates was really nice and super helpful in showing me cheaper weekly and monthly pricing for your Oyster card. Signage is also really good when looking for National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery etc.
D. M.
Not one of the best kept stations, but not one of the worst either.
There are nice local bars and I find the Northern line one of the most useful to be near to get around London.

It's magnificent, royal unbelievable of beautiful.
L. H.
Victorian Railway Station, opened in 1864 to serve the south eastern railway. Check out the amazing redevelopment of the station in recent times which added a huge office building called Embankment place.
S. W.
I don't like underground stations because I don't fancy getting mugged or stabbed while I am down there. I would go with someone who knows me, but never on my own..
H. W. H.
Small train station as compare to others, but clean and beautiful.
s. v.
Excellent service friendly staff
M. N.
Homelessness by the entrance always makes me a bit sad. It's a reflection of London: the grand hustle and bustle above ground with grand institutions like the National Gallery coexisting with the immediate squalor poverty below ground. A true tale of two cities.
W. J.
This station has good service on both London underground and the mainline railway network. There are a selection of cafés but not much space to sit.b
S. H.
This is for charing cross station which Google dont seem to acknowledge
Its not for the underground station
It's fine
An overground station serving the south East of England
6 platforms a free toilet.beer house corniche pasty place burger king hotrl chocolate boots chemiists2couple of coffee places marks and Spencer and the like
The staff are. Helpful
Why more to say it's a station
c. b.
It’s a good train station and some unique views from the platform if you walk to the end. Great restaurant in the alleyways below the station!
S. K. R.
Busy place…love the crowd..
C. C.
I simply alight here in the mornings for my commute to work. Its obviously busy but can't say it has failed me in any way.
The main area has coffee shops and such things, which is a bonus.
M. M.
Quite a small station compared to Waterloo. But this is a good thing as it's not so busy and the washroom facilities are free.
M.
So easy to navigate around
s. 8.
Very clean but not many staff on hand to ask about train times or platforms
N. H.
Security is non existent on bike rack area camers useless 😑
J. N.
Till studying this one. More soon guys!,,,,, Watch this space! Thanks...
D. W.
Been coming to this historic station for over 40 years. Love it.
c. c.
A very big station local to trafalgar Sq lots if access points but can get lost in the maze of tunnels very little signage shows the age of the station but very good arcitecture
L. W.
Iconic station of London with nice clean facilities and generally good information. I couldn't find local tourist maps weirdly enough, maybe I want looking hard enough...
G. (.
Very good station with great links to the south East of England and has a good selection of food stores, short walk from Buckingham Palace and the theatres
T. S.
The station can get crowded. But at least you get to board the train first before passengers from Waterloo East and London Bridge which gets the trains really crowded.
D. S.
Google seems to be mixing up Charring Cross Mainline Station with Charring Cross Underground station. The mixup means when the underground station closes at night google maps sometimes forgets there are still trains running from the mainline station for around another hour
M. P.
My favourite train station in London that crosess the thames river with views to Big Ben, London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral etc.
I. F.
Relatively small station in comparison to the other London terminals. Great central location though and right beside the embankment.
K. L.
Charing Cross is arguably the centre of London. Getting off at Charing Cross Station, you'll come across one of the twelve Eleanor Crosses. Charing Cross Station is also where you get off if you want to go to Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery.
G. L.
Excellent train station.
J. N.
Very hot station nice and clean
R. H.
It's a Railway station and the information desk do not believe that tranes travel from Eltham and return odd but there you go
G. B.
Sweet art
h.
Completely wheelchair accessable and easy to get around. It has a lot of trains that go to a lot of places.
M. B.
Its a train station
P. K.
There's nothing special about this station, but you can use it as a shortcut to get to and from the Hungerford footbridge, which connects the back to the station to the South bank
i. k.
It was actually pretty clean when I went there... overall, it was a big part of my UK experience, holding many memories.
J. P.
Bright clean station. Not too busy.
A. K.
So cute they should rename it to charming cross
P.
Dirty and crowded hub for the South of London. A huge number of connections, various facilities and lots of offices nearby.
R. S. (. S.
good station crowded but many display boards,,, i wonder where are the toilets
B. D.
The sound of London in Lockdown. In its epicentre, where all distances are measured from
A. M.
Gets very busy at commuter times, the selection of shops and general decor is not as nice as St Pancras for example.
T. D.
Hidden London tour of Charing Cross was really informative, despite the odd looks from the ordinary customers as we walked through in hi vis vests
_.
You can keep the luggage in this place. 3hours for £6, 12hours for £12.5.

V. T.
Good and clean station.
A. “. U.
Conveniently located near Trafalgar Square and Embankment. Quite a few cafes and restaurants as well as convenient markets.
J. B.
This station must be the envy of all other stations... It has the looks, the location and its sure got swagger!
W. C.
If you're in a rush to get to the underground, watch out for the long distance between the station entrance and the actual platforms.
V. G.
Clean station, easy access to Soho or West End and helpful staff.
C. H.
Very fast and efficient, first time on there for years, directions was very simple
