L.Originally I gave Apollo Taxis a one-star review - this wasn't down to the service provided by the driver Ben - he was really good and went out of his way to correct a mistake that was made by somebody in the office and made sure that we all got to our hotel by around 1am.
The Director (I believe it was Tom) of Apollo Taxis gave us a call the day after our emails to explain what had gone wrong for us on the day. He was very appologetic and sympethetic to our experience. He was unsure as to why we were called on the day to say that there 'might' be a change in booking from car to minibus - this led to the confusion at the end of the day.
Tom did tell us that the customer services employee (they remained nameless on their emails) was the same person who called us to say there was a change in our booking and that from reading the emails they were trying to protect their initial decision in calling us rather than being sympathetic to our disruption.
Hopefully this is just a training matter and can be fixed going forwards so no-one else receives a similar experience. We are truly grateful that the Director took the matter seriously and gave us a phone call to understand the issue properly and to also offer a resolution. Thank you as the original communication with the customer services employee didn't make us feel valued as customers.
I feel a 3-star review is fair as although our experience wasn't good with dealing with Customer Services, the Director was apologetic, listened to us, saw where the error was and worked with us to come to agreement - which was all that we asked for.
My original review was as follows (amended due to resolution of our complaints by the Director):
Whilst at a wedding Apollo Taxi called saying there was a change to a booking (from car to minibus). When our vehicle arrived it wasn't a minibus as we were led to believe it would be, it was a car.
The driver (Ben) was polite, apologetic and offered to do 2 runs in order for us all to get to our hotel after the wedding (as we believed it was a minibus we now had more than 4 passengers so couldn't fit in the car). He said it was the company's fault and that we wouldn't be charged.
The customer services employee (after many emails) admitted that they could have been clearer but stands by the additional charges and wasn't willing to offer a gesture of good will for the inconvenience.
We were very unhappy in how we were treated as customers and although the CS employee agreed it could have been clearer, we were still told they couldn't do anything to fix the issue.
M. B.I know that's a few bad reviews but I had a great experience. I must stay though, if like me you're coming from a busy city, don't expect to just get a taxi when you want. These guys were the best at 25mins wait, compared to 90mins and 2hrs from other places.
P. J. S.This used to be a first class service, only once in 6 years I felt let down, on an airport pick up, yet nowadays there is no chance I can use their services anymore, as my phone does not support that many apps, and I cannot cancel the ones I use for work to make room for theirs. It was so easy: I called, they knew me by name, they rescued me (once in the middle of nowhere when I stranded at 1 am...) I have always felt confident and I knew they would help me out. Pity. The rating is only 3 as i had no issues with service, but I am deeply regretting not to be able to rely on them anymore.
T. S.I have 2 kids under 4 and I have to take them with me when I go food shopping. Its difficult as my house is off the road so when I get home I have to make lots of trips from car to my house with bags of shopping whilst dealing with the kids and pushchair and 90% of the time. The driver does not help at all! And if they do the dump the shopping by the side of the road and drive off.i know this isn't thier job to help but I find it very rude

From my limited experience in calling taxis in the busiest hours, this one seems to respond the fastest. All of the drivers I've encountered are extremely polite and professional. The prices are fair and upfront.
Can't think of a single reason not to use this service as a main.

J. S.After getting sick of being charged more than quoted by Express drivers, I decided to give Apollo a go. So glad I did. My wife and I used them for airport transfers to and from Gatwick recently. The drivers were on time, friendly, and charged us the exact price quoted by the dispatcher. If you are thinking about making the switch, don’t hesitate. You’ll be glad you did!
